I didn't see this anywhere else on here... And if it belongs in another section, then of course please move it there...

I think it would be helpful to have a place to write down our affirmations - our good words to ourselves and each other - so we can record encouragement and spread the hope and love.

I'll start:

We are each of us going to get better. The timing and the exact steps may be different, but we are not alone on this road.

We are good people in need of healing, not bad people being punished.

Our infirmities do not define us - our hope does.

I think this is a good idea. I'll put down some things that I say to myself to get through hard times:

I can do this. I will get better and I will heal completely, I just need to give it time and patience.

"Whatever happens, happens but I won't let this beat me." ~ Quote from Irishwill

I've made it through many waves before, I can make it through another.

Keep moving forward and don't give up, there's so much in life to see.

- 2010 Fluoxetine 20mg (no issues, did well)
- Mid 2012 Switched to Celexa 20mg (no issues with switch)
- 6/16 Stopped Celexa (always took med once every other day, tapered to once every three days for about a week and a half, took one a week for one week, no problems)
- 10/20/16 Started Celexa 20mg (next day had panic attacks, stopped after three days, kept having panic attacks and anxiety rest of the month)
- 10/28/16 Started Paxil 20mg (took for almost a week, had suicidal thoughts/severe derealization, tapered off to one every other day for a few days)
- 12/8/16 Buspirone 5mg twice daily (felt drowsy but kept anxiety under wraps, still taking it)
- 12/27/16 Venlafaxine XR 37.5mg (took two days, migraine first day, headache all day second day, third day had severe depression/outbursts of crying, couldn't stop most of the day, bad invasive thoughts, never took third dose because of it)
- 1/7/17 taper Buspirone 20% (miscalculation but doing well), gradually slivered off tablet throughout month to almost half each pill

- 2/3/17 taper Buspirone 2.5mg twice daily (did fine, listened to body), gradually slivered off tablet throughout month

H2H shared this meditation for when anxiety hits:

I find it very helpful. It's not affirmations per say, but it does help get your breathing involved in overcoming anxiety attacks.

A friend sent this to me today. Well, actually, he shared all of Psalm 91, but here is the part that really landed on me:

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.” - Psalm 91:14-16

Psalm 91 has always been one of my favorites!!! Psalm 139 also. You hem me in behind and before, you have laid your hand upon me.

I've been listening to the Bible and lectures on the books of the Bible by audio.  Just this last week I found these - Psalms put to original music:

John Silver

The Psalms Project

The Shiyr Poets Songs for the Journey 1 and Songs for the Journey 2

Sons of Korah

I also found lists online for existing tunes which you can use to sing the different Psalms to, but they are older tunes many of which I am not familiar with.

Prayer walks definitely help.

I was having a mini-hyper yesterday evening. My wife told me to stop analyzing the potential "whys" for having it, and instead to go for a walk and talk to God. It worked! I calmed down, refocused, and was able to have my evening before-bed window.

Going for another prayer walk now this morning!

Writing out some things so that I can re-read them when necessary... Hopefully they will help everybody else too.

I have been getting in a self-recrimination loop each day for the past few days. And yes, I did a lot of mean things to people I said I love while I was on the medicine. And I cannot blame it all on the medicine.

But I need to remember - we all need to remember - that these drugs were given to us by a system we were taught since birth to trust. We are taught to trust doctors, to trust medicine, and to follow doctor's orders.

I resisted going on these drugs for several months after they were recommended. I finally let myself be convinced by the book Listening To Prozac - or as I call it, The Devil's Bible.

Yes, I made the choice. But I was led down that path.

I need - we all need - to free ourselves from any guilt over taking these drugs. We do need to feel remorseful and repentant for the bad things we did while on them. And we need to ask forgiveness.

And then we need to shut of that self-recrimination loop and move away from it for good.

While on the loop yesterday, I simply said to my wife "I was a mean person on those medicines." She nodded sadly. Then I asked if I am a mean person now. "She said no." We both smiled, cried, and I felt better.

Let that be an end to the self-recrimination loops.
