Coconut oil not working.....will use it for cooking instead.
Am seeing the homeopath tomorrow, and she is going to do some spot tests for remedy creams she will make up for me.
I know turmeric is good for inflammation.

Good luck!

Let me know what the homeopath has to say.

Take care,
Frogie xx

Thanks Frogie,

I actually gave in and applied steroid cream (on top of emolient) to the affected areas.

The homeopath is anti-steroid creams as she has experienced eczema all over her body and was stuck using steroid creams for years.

Anyway, I had to do something to reduce the itchiness and dry skin.

How have you been?

JC xx

Sorry the coconut oil didn't work. At least you will have some delicious food!

Hope the steroid cream works - it won't affect your CNS like oral steroids can will it?

LOL, yes, LOTS of cooking oil......AND its a superfood so maybe there will be calm within?!

Thanks Flowers :)

I don't know if steroid creams affect the CNS, my homeopath is anti them as she says that they just "keep in" or "bury" what the body is trying to get rid of/heal, but when there is nothing else to keep the skin calm it has to be steroids :( for now.  Also, I had thought about making my own tumeric cream but wouldn't that just turn me orange???  :D

Sorry you are going through a such a bad time of it Flowers.....have been following your Intro thread.  Definitely keep up the walking no matter how bad things get.  This phase will pass.

Orange would not be a good look!! You have to do what you can when you get a flare up so hope the steroid works.

Yes, I am struggling to be honest but we all are in our own ways.  See how I get on with the therapist tomorrow.

I don't know what I would do without SA and the people on here. It is a lifeline!

Didn't sleep well last night.....hubby was away staying with my folks as we have given up our storage unit which is 10mins away.

Felt hypervigilent and then woke up way too hot as I was wearing "sock mitts" on my hands to try to minimize the scratching damage to my skin. I think they served to make me feel hotter.

Fed up with my upper body being covered in bright red itchy blotches. Every morning my face is dry and itchy.

Also think my dose was wrong by 1mg .... blunt pill cutter springs to mind. Have VERY loud tinnitus this morning.

Oh joy!

Hi JC:

I'm sorry you are feeling so rotten. When do you go back to the homeopath? Hopefully they can give you a cream or something to calm it down.

Let me know how it goes. Glad hubby can help with your parents though. :)

Steroid cream has done the trick, woo hoo! No more horrible itchy red patches all over my upper body.

HOWEVER, it will set back the homeopathic healing as apparently you get a situation where the steroid keeps IN what the body wants to get OUT (the eczema). The two seem to fight each other.

I have a couple more remedies but have to wait to be given the go ahead to take them.

Am also waiting for homeopathic cream. It has to be ordered.

Also did some breathing exercises, and she did a kind of healing / energy thing.

I was lying on a bench/table, and she went around me and (after having taken a powerful remedy herself), channelled that from her to me to move (walk) the eczema down my body. I have to observe whether the eczema starts to move down my body (with the flow of energy downwards).

Man, is there a lot to homeopathic medicine/healing.

Hi Flowers,

We live in Reading, Berks; but being typical of the UK, the snow didn't last, lol.

Hubs and I went to Andalucia in October (also Granada).  It was beautiful weather even then - hope very much to get back to Spain as found it a fascinating country.

The eczema has pretty much departed the scene after bombarding it with steroid cream for 4 days twice a day.

Still stuck with this upper respiratory tract infection - the pharmacist I spoke to, said that they can linger for 2 months or more :( Will have to resume taking the expectorant.

Really enjoyed our January SA Southwest Group Meeting yesterday.  It was great to see everyone again, especially Reflex who we hadn't seen since August 2016 because of her hip operation in early September.

We are very fortunate to have DaddyCee's wisdom of the healing process, which gives us all hope of making a full recovery.  He is our "success story"!

Heavy rain outside all day, so going to have to tramp through the mud for a while to get in the exercise.

Glad your skin is better. There was something about coughs in the Daily Mail saying that there is one that is lingering and the GP's can't do anything about it. 3 of my friends have it at the mo over there. Maybe this is what you have JC.

So envious that you met up with others and that it went well. Maybe oneday I will get to one.

Weather is still glorious here on the coast- sunny and 20 on our terrace. Nights down to 9 and we light the fire to be cosy!

Flowers,

Thank you so much for telling me about the lingering cough article in the Daily Mail....I think that is exactly what I have.  Now I don't feel so bad about it.

"Africa", (one of our SA meet up group members'), sister also has it.....it just won't go no matter what you "throw at it".  Its been weeks and weeks now of coughing up phlegm.

Glad you're enjoying gorgeous weather down there Flowers!

Take care, and keep me posted if you travel to the UK....we'd love it if you could make it to one of our meet ups.

Hugs,

Hi Flowers,

I found the Daily Mail cough article:

http://www.dailymail...s-say-s-it.html

Now I'm not sure that this particular virus does apply to me :(  I don't have a hacking cough, the doctor confirmed that I had an upper respiratory tract infection, but I have had it for several weeks now, and bringing up small amounts of phlegm.

Have never had a respiratory infection that lasted this long :(

I can only guess its my shot immune system.

Oh JC I am so sorry you are still have a productive cough.

I think you are right - your body will get rid of the virus eventually.

One thing I have read about is that dairy products may  make mucous in the airways thicker so maybe cut down on this? Just a suggestion as I don't know what sort of diet you have.

Wishing you well soon.

Try adding some Goldenseal for the infection and Pleurisy Root to help clear things out. Thyme tea is excellent for the cough. I use all three.

OK, it looks like I need to do some shopping Brass.

It must be my non-functioning immune system that can't get rid of this wretched infection :(

This is the crazy thing Flowers....I don't have a cough.   Only do a cough to bring up the phlegm; I don't have a hacking cough at all.

I think I will have to buy what was on Brass's shopping list.

Thanks for your support :)

Yes, I probably do consume too much dairy.

Yes I would get Brass's stuff.

Maybe cut down on dairy too then! ;)  I think it makes the body produce more mucous or catarrh.

I suffer with my sinuses and know if I eat too much cheese I am in for a dose of sinusitis! I love cheese!

Have ordered those herbal remedies to try and throw off this wretched respiratory tract infection.

Am also considering switching to Citalopram from Escitalopram as Escitalopram is just a more refined version of Citalopram.

Doing a liquid taper is just too difficult because of the accuracy required. I don't think it's possible to achieve the accuracy with a strength of 1ml / 20mg.

I'm not sure if I would need to do a Prozac bridge as they are chemically almost identical.

If I do the liquid route, I stand to risk messing up doses.

Hi Flowers,

Yes, I believe Escitaolpram is stronger than Citalopram.

No, you're not being thick at all - the concentration of the liquid solution I have is 1ml / 20mg, which is too difficult to taper off safely. As my start point is 2.5mg, I would be reducing by .25mg each time which is extremely difficult to achieve with a solution of that concentration. I just don't want to risk it.

Thanks!

Also, the super duper 200 billion count probiotic has done a number on my guts, lol.

Flowers, they are supposed to restore "gut health", as it is acknowledged that stress, age and diet can affect it. Maybe my gut is playing catch up and will take time to "re-configure".....I don't know.

Oh I see! I am so sorry you are having problems with that too.

We have joghurt drinks here that are supposed to be probiotic. Is that what you are taking?

I am having stomach problems since this wave struck and have lost a lot of weight even over Christmas. Not really the best way to do it though!!

Yes, the "full Monty" including gut issues.

I have probiotic yoghurt for breakfast with fruit, but don't think there are enough bacteria in a portion, so opt to go for supplements as well. Anyway, the 7 day course seemed like a good idea so hopefully things will improve.

Losing weight during a wave scared me, I couldn't eat, and couldn't stop exercising either (restless), so the weight just fell off. Now I'm porky again, lol.

A right sided (always that side) sinus headache popped up today. Am guessing it will last a couple of days, they always do. Woke up this morning with extra loud tinnitus, so that was the clue of what was to follow.

Went to my first NHS "Talking Therapies" this evening to address my Health Anxiety. Session only lasted 30 mins which was disappointing, and there was no actual therapy involved. I just answered a series of questions about my current mental state and health anxiety.

I was given 3 self-help booklets to work through over a 2 week period, and then the therapist will call me on 2nd Feb for a 30 min check-in. Apparently I can alternate face-to-face with phone consultations.

Will have 4-6 sessions with perhaps a further 6 if needed.

That's the NHS doing it on a shoe string.

Have had random body pains today - hey ho.

Possible job with horses fell by the wayside as I am not young and dynamic enough.

Bought the tea which has thyme in it - great flavor, and some honey and lemon throat lozenges which contain propolis among other things.

Sounds like you have had quite a day!

Do you think the therapy will be enough for you? It sounds like a crash self help course to me!

Sorry about the job but all things happen for a reason. There will be a better one for you around the corner.

Have you ever tried the saline nasal washouts for sinus problems? I swear by them.
