Thanks Frogie, feeling crappy is all part of the healing process.

Luckily, I have a really nice Naturopath who I feel is there for me.

Got to ring up the surgery to request testing for:

Full blood count

CRP (C-Reactive Protein)

Thyroid function

On we plod.

Meant to say that I literally feel "contaminated" by the Candida.....like I'll never get "clean" on the inside. Spoke to the surgery this afternoon, and my bloodwork is now ordered (see previous post).

My Naturopath emailed me a very comprehensive report which was so informative and helpful.

She recommended some natural medications which I ordered yesterday.

Candida is really NASTY and must be taken seriously.

I feel like an idiot for not realizing I had it for so long.....must have been in denial. How could I ever get yeast infection?

Also forgot to mention, I haven't eaten a single sweet thing in a month!

Unfortunately it's going to stay that way for many more months if I'm going to kill this thing off......that means that Easter is a wash out this year, and probably the cruise in August as well.

Looks like I'm reacting to just about everything I eat these days despite completely eliminating refined sugar and yeast based foods from my diet.

My face itches all the time, and sometimes my arms or back of my neck.

Had the bloodwork done this morning so have to wait a few days for the results.

Also, the "14 Day Detox pack" arrived....fortunately the foods I'm allowed to eat on "The List" are what I have been eating anyway.

Have lost 7ibs so far, and I estimate it will take a further 6 month to lose the rest.

Currently dealing with memory issues, anxiety, rapid heart rate, itching - all of these are related to sugar WD.

JC. You're handling all of this brilliantly and with such a good attitude. I hope you continue to find the answers to the ongoing health problems created by these drugs. It can be somewhat of a jigsaw puzzle but ultimately , hopefully there are some eventual resolutions to this quandary.

Let's know the results of your blood work. Hopefully they will reveal something tangible that can be dealt with in a positive way.

Ali,

Thank you so much my friend :0)

Candida is brutal, it really is. I guess I'm hoping I don't have to have further investigations pending the bloodwork results.

Still, all this stuff has to be confronted head on and cannot be avoided.......I'm looking forward to getting some answers.

Experienced a "Niacin Flush" this morning which completely freaked me out.

It feels like an intense prickly heat/sunburn sensation and flared up all over my face and upper body.

Its caused by a large dose of Vit B3 (Niacin), which dilates all the capillaries, causing the body to feel warmer.

Fortunately it didn't last long......

At the moment its one skin reaction after another.....

Tomorrow I start my 2 week DETOX programme to try to bring my body back to a more "neutral" place, before kicking off the food group removal rotation.

Thanks Scally, it happened in the morning when I was nowhere near hydrated enough.....it takes me most of the morning to reach a "comfortable" level of hydration, and I'm peeing near to clear again.

Hi JC:

You have no skin left, I have no stomach left pretty soon. It's going to just rot away lol...

Quite the pair we are. :)

Yes Frogie, we are quite the pair, it's bad isn't it?!! Gotta try and see the funny side no matter what.

AliG, I decided this morning to go back to putting coconut oil on all affected itchy sore and dry skin areas.

I've been putting it on my fungal nails and think I am seeing improvement on my big toe, so thought that the anti-fungal properties in coconut oil could help my skin.

I know, I know.....you'll say "I told you so", however back then, I hadn't attributed the eczema/dermatitis flare ups to Candida.

Since none of the other creams or emollients have helped in any way other than calm the skin for about 5 mins; I may as well apply a natural remedy that contains natural and very effective anti-fungal properties.

Will keep you posted! Also I get this from the supermarket and it's very cheap so one less thing to worry about :0)

VERY bad nights sleep last night, woke up at 2am having to put emollient all over my face, neck, back of neck, shoulders as felt as though my skin was drying up/cracking off :0(

Horrendous itching, which felt like a flare up....eventually calmed, plus dealing with VERY heavy TOTM @ 22 days. Have contacted my Naturopath about it....I can't be one of her easiest Clients either due to the anxiety.

Anyway, I screwed up my Detox Prog supplements yesterday, and didn't take them as I wasn't thinking straight. Have corrected that today, but that may have caused the flare up, I'm not sure.

Dont want to be seen by anyone today - I look like a scene from a horror movie; maybe I'll go for another evening walk :0(

Detox Prog cooking going ok, easy recipes but the kitchen now looks like a health food store.

My other concern was that the detox Prog involves eating fruit and sweet vedge (the very things I've been avoiding the last few weeks). It's another issue I've brought up with my ND, as I'm thinking the fruit was what caused the flare up last night.

Ugghh! How I long to feel healthy again, with glowing healthy skin; something I took for most of my life until the "breakdown" several years ago. Then my life changed. My skin used to be perfect, the envy of many. Now it's completely wrecked.

I'm logging progress on the "Candida albicans" thread in the "symptoms and self care" section.

Anyway, I woke up to a "new" rash all over my face and chest so have gotten used to looking like a freak show.

Warned my hubby about it, as he gets back today, lol.

As my naturopath explained, it's my gut dumping the dying Candida toxins onto my skin because it can't get of them effectively (yet).

Hi JC:

I'm sorry you are going through all of these skin conditions, but just think, it will be perfect skin when you get done with this.

Hope you feel better soon. :)

Thanks Frogie,

At least I know what the cause of all my physical symptoms is, and how to cure it.

It's just a matter of time, commitment and money.

Of course, I don't know how my gut will react once I start tapering again (still haven't decided when or how I'll do it).

Think I'll get my gut/me well first.

I wish my nausea would go away.

Well, as you can tell I'm not exactly in a hurry to taper.

Frankly, I think it will take as long to heal from the Candida as it will to complete the taper.

ATM, I'll take nausea over looking like a freak show zombie with skin hanging off and blotches interspersed with eczema! AND it itches like hell, feels sore and burns. It's all over my upper body and face.

I'm telling you Frogie, you don't want this little lot!

I can't take the rashes any more.

Have ordered 1kg of "Bentonite Clay" which I can use on my upper body and face to draw the toxins away from my skin and give it some relief.

Don't know what else to do, I know my liver etc., is under strain trying to get rid of the Candida toxins and so my skin ends up being "it" as the toxic waste dumping site, however, its scary to look at and is sore etc, etc.,

Will keep you guys posted as to how well it works....

I haven't left the house in 3 days.....that means its REALLY bad :(

Normally, I'll get cabin fever after a few hours, but I just haven't felt that I can be outside; not only because of not wanting to face people but also my skin is uber sensitive to the sun.

My CBT is on hold, and so is the stables work.

This morning, I crushed up fresh mint and put it in between kitchen paper and soaked it in cold water as a cold press for relief from the burning/itching sensation.  It worked for a bit, and then flared up again.

Hope to God the clay poultice works.

Hi! I just felt like dropping by to say that if you're experiencing hair loss and are eating a lot of brazil nuts, one possible explanation would be getting too much selenium. I'm too tired to find sources, but im pretty sure hair loss is listed as possible side effect.

Either way, im wishing you all the best in your struggles! Im too battling severe stomach issues, it really takes a toll on ones energy :(

Thanks Bilbo for dropping in.......errm, I actually eat Brazils sparingly due to their high fat content; and usually much less than a handful in quantity.

This Candida detox/diet thing has caused considerable stress and my hubby was away for a week so my hair had started coming out before he left.

Its not the first time this has happened either, as my hair was coming out badly last summer due to stress.

So how long have your stomach issues been going on for?  Is it reflux?

Oh, I see, nvm then :) keep eating those delicious brazil nuts, I personally absolutely love them haha!

My stomach problems have been going on for way too long by now. Been having a nervous stomach since a kid. During stressful job couple y ears ago, it got really bad, and soon after I started taking my ADs. Since these drug-introductions my digestive issues have gone from really bad to completely awful... This has not exactly helped my social anxiety.

How Long has it been going on for you? :)

That's a VERY long haul Bilbo, I'm really sorry.

I take it that you've had all the tests done?

Basically my gut flora is in very bad shape, the bad bacteria/fungal yeast have taken over the good bacteria and so my immune system is compromised and I am trying through a very strict diet to gradually address the balance of things so that my health comes back.

Its going to take months for that to happen, but in the meantime, the toxins being given off by the dying fungal yeast are ending up on my skin so I look like a freak with constant itching, soreness etc.,

However, the wonders of the internet led me to the idea of using:

Bentonite Clay - draws out the toxins

Witch hazel - calms the skin

Aloe Vera - heals the wounds (also suggested by AliG)

So, its a constant learning and acceptance process which is the toughest part.

JC

Next are the witch hazel and aloe Vera.

I pray for happier skin.

This detox is BRUTAL....and makes weight loss diets seem tame.

Tried on my larger size jeans and they fit and can do up zip and button.

Trudge, trudge, trudge, itch, itch, itch :0(

Hi JC:

I'm glad the clay arrived. Coming right up is the witch hazel and aloe Vera, and you'll feel better.

I don't know how you are doing this detox. I'm such a sissy, I couldn't do it. I have a swollen throat, ear infection and bronchitis. I'm on an antibiotic. I feel blah...

That's great about your jeans. I don't even try. I wear leggings and sweats with long shirts.

Keep it up, you're doing great. :)

Thank you Frogie, that's really kind of you...although I think you could do it.

I'm now covered in mud, lol!

So you've got bronchitis again? Geez Frogie that's brutal too. Do you think you're OD'ing on ABs?

ABs cause more harm than you think, and wreck havoc in your gut compromising your immune system.

This is exactly what I'm trying to rectify...my compromised immune system but caused by long term stress; and bad diet last summer.

Hope you feel better soon, but think about it...you need to heal inside out.

Hi JC:

You are right. I have taken quite a bit of antibiotics lately. I seem to get sick this time of year.

I wasn't going to go to the dr, but I was having problems breathing and had a fever, fiancé said go.

I thought I had strep, turns out I had an ear infection, and bronchitis. I get the lesser of 2 evils on antibiotics. He always wants to put me on really heave ones, and I talk him into other ones that work just as well for me.

Hope the mud works for you. :)

Keep me posted.

I'm miserable, my skin is on fire and keeps flaring up.

It's either emotional or "something else". I'm going to get the possible "something else" tested even though the blood work seemed fine.

Through is I'm petrified of this whole Candida thing.

Avoid ABs as much as you can.

Am trying to get to the bottom of it....more testing required to rule out parasites.  All of this originates in my gut, and as hubby and I travelled around India in 2010, its not impossible that I COULD have picked up something.

Life REALLY sucks, or should I say itches right now......

Every morning I wake up and my face is falling off...literally.  Dry skin flaking off, itchy sore patches everywhere....its not only gross to look at but also extremely uncomfortable and distressing to live with, so I'm back to steroid creams during the iterim.

ND advised to hold off seeing a Dermatologist for the time being as they won't diagnose the root cause, only that its eczema/dermatitis etc.,  Will just prescribe steroids.

Nearing the end of the 14 Day Detox, 5 days left.  ND advised to stop the Detox if symptoms get too distressing.......she has also advised to stop anti-fungal for now (Grapefruit seed extract) and also magnesium citrate (for digestion) as both too harsh.  Have lost almost 8Ibs of weight whilst doing this, although weight loss isn't the main aim, eliminating toxins is.

Going to order the urine and stool analysis tests to determine parasitology and candida levels.

6 week Gut Cleanse is next up.......................

Miserable as hell, but got to try and be positive :(
