Rain: dropped dose of lexapro

First do no harm.

Instead of considering prescription medication or invasive irreversible treatments, maybe just give your system some time to truly stabilise. I know you want to try anything but you will make yourself worse if you keep reacting. I took beta blockers and I bitterly regret it now I had such bad rebound from them I've taken my recovery back by 18 months and am having to begin to heal all over again. As for ECT there is no reset button on the brain and you don't know how your brain receptors which are already under stress are going to react.

Are you taking any supplements and if so are they helping?

Thank you AprilShowers for reminding me this! I will not do ECT at this stage, I want me nerve system heal itself.

Sorry that the Beta Blockers made you bad again, but I believe it doesn't mean it made you back to your begining of recovery again. I hope you will heal soon again.

I am currently not taking any supplements because last time I tried Vitamin B6 it made me WD symptoms worse. I am now having a bottle of Magnesium Glycinate, but I still don't dare to take it. As AliG told me, to start with very low dose of it and see how it acts in my system. I will try once I feel a bit better than now.

B6 and magnesium made my symptoms worse, even in very small doses. Its all trial and error in this game. We need to respect our hypersensitive CNS. Time and pressure.

Im confident you will heal, Rain. There will be days with much doubt and frustration, but dont forget the windows.

"There is a crack in everything, That's how the light gets in" Leonard Cohen.

<p>Sept 2015: 5 mg Cipralex for 3 weeks. Lots of side effects. Reduced to 2.5 mg for 2 weeks. Experiencing withdrawal and side effects still after dose reduction. Quit after almost 4 weeks on 2.5 mg because of adverse effects. Experiencing withdrawal symptoms still. Reinstating 1mg after 3 weeks. Reduced to 0.50 after 2 days due to sensitive reaction (dysautonomia) and trip to ER. January 2016: After 14 months of tapering from 0.5 mg im now down to 0.08mg. Planing on one more drop before 4-8 weeks healing, then jump to zero. 14.03.17: Lexapro free!

No supplements here. I had some success with fresh self-made juice from avocado, spinach, celery sticks and apple. Lots of natural vitamins/minerals. The juice + regular exercise helped me keep my head sane during the terrible period (many months) with akathisia. No alcohol, caffeine or snacks/junk food. Too much sugar made me feel sick. But you need som carbs if you gonna exercise. The lifestyle and diet part is what i think helped me the most, beside support from familiy/friends, mindfulness/acceptence and the ultra slow taper.

Hi Rain:

Just thought I would stop by and see how you are feeling?

I had a little bit of nausea this morning, but I ate chocolate yesterday. That usually does it.

I ate a banana and feel fine now.

Hope you're doing well. :)

Hi Frogie!

How are you these days?

I am not well actually... I am still in my up and down Akathisia waves. The good news is the dark thoughts have been hugely lessened. However, the physical sensation is still a torture, especially after a little bit small window, then I am throw into Akathisia, that made me really desperate... I thought I was done to it, it will never come back, but it's not...

Hope you are doing well these days!

Hi Rain:

I took a mini vacation, so haven't been on.

Got back and was worn out, took some time to re-coop.

I tapered a little 2 days ago. So far so good, no nausea.

How are you doing? Hopefully much better :D

That's so nice to hear, Frogie!

I am better than a month ago, which was Akathisia hell... I am now having some typical WD symptoms, such as nausea, diarhea, anxiety, etc.. Hopefully they are not too bad this time.

I am now at 6.0mg, I will hold for a while.

Hope you are well!

Hey Cipramillion! How are you these days?

Sorry I haven't been on the forum for couple days...

I am not seeing Dr. Yolande recently.

I am at 6.0mg at the moment, it's not easy, I have to deal with both WD Akathisia and meds reactions. But it seems the meds reactions are not too bad recently, I hope it won't be too bad.

Hope you are doing better!

Hi, Rain!

Good to hear the drug reaction has lessened some. I found the reaction to be a major factor, even at very small doses. It made a huge difference going to zero. Im feeling a lot better now. Both the WD and reaction will fade with time, and as you go further down in doses. Just dont rush it, and stick tou your plan.

Best wishes.

Hi Rain,

good of job getting down to 6mg! Handling the two opposite evils is the most challenging thing among the already horrodous fight against WD. I'm so happy to hear the reaction is tiding down some for you!

cipromillion, such great info on the positive effect of reaching zero on reaction! I was so hoping at lower doses ( so low list 0.1 mg) the reaction would be at least not as strong but like you experienced I aloud found it was so. It seems the body adjust to react as bad to lower doses along with dose reduction. For example a year back I would react to 1 mg when I was at 3mg, not I can get severe reaction from 0.001 mg.

so glad your are doing so much better!!!

Wish all of us continue healing!

Hi Rain:

Haven't heard from you forever, so I thought I would drop by and see how you're doing?

I see you are down in the 5's. That is great. :)

How are you feeling? Any anxiety or nausea? Hopefully not.

I've had some slight nausea a couple days last week and a day this week. But I had some dental work done and the Novacain always makes me nauseous, even before I started these horrible meds.

Take care,

Rain, hi. Just wondering if you're still following this thread. I read it all last night. You're story and symptoms are very similar to mine. I have the trembling, restlessness, and high heart rate also.

I am very curious how you are now. Have you gotten any relief? I'm hoping since you haven't posted in awhile that all is well with you. I'd love to know, as I'm terrified that this will never end.

Good job getting down to 4.6 without all the symptoms. Sounds like you're doing better overall.

I was on 10 mg. Went down to 7.5 and felt great.  Then I screwed up trying to make my own liquid. Updosed to 8. Then up to 10 thinking I could start over. I had trembling anxiety and akathasia for 2 months. Went inpatient and was brought down to 5 mg in a week. They also added Ativan 3x day. So now I have to worry about tapering that also.

Started all of this 5 months ago today. I have all the physical symptoms on top of anxiety and depression. Hindsight is 20/20, but I wish I could go back to 7.5 mg and do it right. Feel pretty hopeless today, but hanging in there.       Lg

Hey Frogie, Actually I am back to the old place that I have been, same house. I am quite used to living there, it's ok for me.

Now it's the hayfever season, I wasn't too bad before, but this year is the worst, I think it's related to my sensitized system. From both cutting the meds and reactions to the meds.

You will get better for sure, see you are now under 6mg, that is a great job! Your body will adapt to that as well.

And Yes, now I can keep updating here again. I will let you know How I am doing.

Hugs

That sounds even more similar to me because I started my bad reactions since I had couple beers with friends. Trembling anxiety, akathisia, very bad restless from both inside and physical, insomnia badly, heart pounding, fast heart rating (135bpm), body jumping while sleeping, muscle twitching around the legs and arms, weak legs, chest, throat tight, back neck tight, panic attacked for couple times, repeating thoughts everyday 24/7, dark thoughts, low mood, etc, the list can go on and go on...

I think I am slowly get back to normal while holding the dose, so please be patient, this will happen. Please keep hope.

Also can I know, why you failed to do your own liquid? I am trying to do that as well in the future, but I am worrying about how I can do that correctly.

Hope you are well today!

im terrified to drink a beer even though it would be good in the moment. How long did it take for the symptoms to start to settle after you drank?

I'm moving the time I take lex from night to morning by an hour a day. Second guessing that now as my symptoms have ramped up-

exact symptoms you mentioned. Getting less sleep now. Just a couple hours. Hope it settles soon.

As to making my own liquid, it just didn't seem to dissolve. Maybe that was pill coating, don't know. But somehow I messed it up. When I taper I'm going with liquid from pharmacy. Is that available in Australia?

Hope you have a good day, Rain~

Hi LG,

The impact of the alcohol was strong, symptoms were very intense, about 3 weeks. This time I hit by alcohol again about 2.5 weeks then it seems to settled down.

I think these symptoms will settled down for you, it takes time.

I have the same issue as you mentioned, the tablet doesn't dissolve well in the water. That's not only the pill coating, they are the stuff in the pill. We have liquid form in Australia, however, only 20mg/10ml size. I am worrying if I can switch dry cutting to liquid, maybe it will mess up my sensitized system. I am not quite sure if I can do that.

Hope you are will!

Hi Rain

i think moving my pill time backfired. I hope it settles soon. Very disruptive sleep. And anxiety worse.

When I was inpatient, they gave me liquid form of lexapro and it didn't seem to make a difference. Back to pill  form 5 mg now. I think as long as you use the same calibrated syringe, you should be ok.

Hi Rain

i think moving my pill time backfired. I hope it settles soon. Very disruptive sleep. And anxiety worse.

When I was inpatient, they gave me liquid form of lexapro and it didn't seem to make a difference. Back to pill  form 5 mg now. I think as long as you use the same calibrated syringe, you should be ok.

Hope you're feeling ok now.   Lg

Oh wow, that could cause your symptoms worse I believe.

I may try the liquid form once I am lowered down to 1-2mg of Lexapro, Now dry cutting seems ok, not accurate, but does the job.

Hope you are well!

I'm doing ok. I feel a lot better. I was on 4 antibiotics and I think I'm finally over it. So I might taper after thanksgiving if I feel up to it.

I'm glad you are doing better!
