Some bad news:

Last night was insomnia, this morning after taking meds, my heart palp up to 108bpm straight away, and the situation became severe again! Will the skipped dose made adverse reactions become worse and uncontrollable? I'm now heading to ER due to heart palp and extremely restless + dizzyness.

I just back from GP, she said i am bullsh*t, dr Yolande is cheater, this forom is lying. She said I am having anxiety thats it. She never heard of serotonin syndrome, she never heard of restless legs. She was angry with me because I believe the wrong thing... She also said no one can fix me because I don't trust the doctors.

I feel soooo lost now, what I can do now... It is so hard.

Rain. I'm sorry you had that experience with your general practitioner. There are many doctors that are uneducated about the dangers of psych drugs and the withdrawal process.  She may have been embarrassed by her lack of knowledge as she should be.

Being our own health advocate means questioning, researching and following our intuition despite the misinformation that abounds.

Have the heart palpitations settled down ? How are you feeling now ?

Many SSRI's and SSNRI's over 20 years. Zoloft for 7 years followed by Effexor, Lexapro, Prozac, Cymbalta, Celexa, Pristiq, Valdoxan, Mianserin and more - on and off. No tapering. Cold turkey off Valdoxan - end of May 2014

Hi AliG, thanks for understanding me! I am so disappointed with my GP, i feel my time is so hard now...

My heart palp still not settle down die to today's pill, I think my reverse reactions flares back very bad again since i missed a dose. I don't dare to take pill tomorrow... But I have to... Do you think a missed dose can make the reverse reaction such bad? Can I keep cut the dosage?

You may be a bit wobbly for a while but I would continue on with your usual dose. It's best to stay as stable as you can right now.  If you can avoid any unnecessary stress that will also help to calm your CNS. Do you meditate?

Please be cautious with supplements and avoid any over the counter meds if you possibly can over the next few weeks.

I assume your heart testing was clear at the ER. If so the heart palpitations are normal in withdrawal. I have had them as many of us have. I know they are disconcerting but some deep breathing usually helps calm down the heart rate.

Rain. What did they say in the ER.  Did you have an ECG?

You will get through this if you stay calm. Can you have an epsom salt bath ?  Legs up the wall yoga ?

I found magnesium beneficial. Sipping dissolved Magnesium Citrate seems to calm the heart and mind.

Hey AliG:

They just took my two tubes of blood. My blood pressure is 96/46, which is low, heart rate 99 he measured, he said pretty normal but it's still way too fast for me. Now waiting for ECG test. I feel very dizzy after taking out the blood.

The heart rate is a little on the high side but it's still within the realm of average. Its not really surprising given the circumstances.

If I could give you some advice, it would be not to sweat the small stuff.

If I had I panicked every time something different happened in withdrawal I would be a complete mess today. Luckily, I'm only a partial mess. LOL.

My point is you have to relax into this. If you freak out anytime something is a bit off then you're in for a very long ride. Maybe read back through the symptoms of withdrawal.

Sorry to hear you are struggling, Rain. I had the same experience with heart palps in early WD. Few doctors understand how SSRIs cause autonomic dysfunction.

Hi Rain,

I am so sorry things turned back to difficult again for you!

Its hard to tell giving the complicated situation.

Just to understand accurately, you were feeling a lot better with symptoms from the drug reaction in the past 3 weeks (starting march 4th) dropping dose from 9mg to the current (7.7mg? from your other post to Cipromillion's thread), missed a dose on 17th (?), still feeling good reaction wise but got some WD (also from your post to Cipromillion's thread) until today (23th) you are experiencing the heart issue after taking the dose (same 7.7mg?)?

It is possible the one missed dose is causing both, the recent WD and the back fire of reaction symptoms. Its impossible to be sure how the brain intereacts with the dose change when one is in reaction during tapering. you may want to layout all the details side by side to see if that helps with the guessing job.

Giving you are still at a relative high dose of lex, I wouldn't think you will be hit too badly by WD even you try a bit more drop to test. In the meantime, when the brain is in such a chaos of adjusting for the quick dose changes, its unavoidable to NOT experience some (can be bad) symptoms from either WD or reaction. in another word, you have to ride out some of those for some time until your system stabilizes.

I feel the reaction you got today will settle down over time even you don't change dose like Ali suggested, or you can try to cut a tiny bit to see if that gets better quickly. No one really knows for sure as we all learned but trying to stay calm even you do experience some symptoms will help. Also you may want to keep very detailed journey everyday on paper.

let us know what they found in the ER.

Hope you are already feeling better now.

Your support is very important and I will reread the articles again!

My heart rate went down since mid of last night, then I can fell to sleep.

I tried to take a walk for 2 hours before bed, however it didn't help me, luckily, after lying on the bed for 4 hours, everything starts to settle down.

I will keep eye on my symptoms as well, it is very hard to tell what's going on but at least today is much less severe.

Many thanks AliG, Cipramillion and Lex!

My symptoms start to settle down during the mid of last night. I tried to walk before bed for two hours because I know I couldn't get to sleep, heart palp was so hard and fast. However, It didn't calm me down, Then I lied down onto the bed, doing nothing but breathing method. After 4 hours, heart palp started to loose it's strength, what a relief!

I had a good sleep after that, but after woke up I had bit anxiety, I don't really care of these mild symptoms now. After taking the pill for today, I found I am quite ok only time passed by 4 hours point, I start to feel same thing, bit heart palp, dizzy, stomach nausea and bit restless. Surprisingly, these were very very mild compared with yesterday! Thank God!

Now it's been 5 hours taking my pill today, everything is still nice and calm.

I would thanks to you again for your patience and such a life saving supports! Without you, I am sure wouldn't go through this hell or already ended up with cocktail of the psych meds!

Sorry to hear you are struggling, Rain. I had the same experience with heart palps in early WD. Few doctors understand how SSRIs cause autonomic dysfunction.

Are you feeling better now?

Hi Cipramilion:

Thanks for your coming in! I had really bad experience recent 3-4 days, however, today, things got a lot better. But it is still very unstable, I am trying to keep eye on my symptoms and figure out what to do next. I am so disappointed with my doctor and I will never see this doctor again.

How's your feeling these days? Your WD is better? Hope you are doing well!

Hope you are already feeling better now.

lex

Thank you Lex! Yes you are correct, I dropped my dose to 7.7mg 3 days ago, because of trying to eliminate the symptoms causing from the missing dose. (Also kind of bad reactions after taking med), However, it was worsening, so I know the cutting dose went wrong, but it is a tiny dose drop, I still don't want to up dose. And you and AliG's guess might correct, holding for a while. I should keep eye on these symptoms changes. Luckily, today isn't a worse day but better day.

The result from ER will come out on Monday, they can't tell what's wrong with me, so they just let me go home. I asked them, If it is the Lexapro went wrong what they gonna do, they just told me it won't be the meds, if I don't like the meds, stop it any time as I like...

Good to hear you are feeling better! You probably got what is known as medical induced dysautonomia. It will pass. Its not a permanent condition when triggered by SSRI.

Im still suffering from my drop. Just hanging on, waiting for a window. Starting to feel like a never ending story. Turtles win the race. Im still an optimist  :D

<p>Sept 2015: 5 mg Cipralex for 3 weeks. Lots of side effects. Reduced to 2.5 mg for 2 weeks. Experiencing withdrawal and side effects still after dose reduction. Quit after almost 4 weeks on 2.5 mg because of adverse effects. Experiencing withdrawal symptoms still. Reinstating 1mg after 3 weeks. Reduced to 0.50 after 2 days due to sensitive reaction (dysautonomia) and trip to ER. January 2016: After 14 months of tapering from 0.5 mg im now down to 0.08mg. Planing on one more drop before 4-8 weeks healing, then jump to zero. 14.03.17: Lexapro free!

Sorry to hear about that mate, you are lucky one off the meds, I am still on Lexapro, which makes me life threatening condition.

Can you explain what is a medical induced dysautonomia? Is it serious? What can I do with this issue? Is it similar to reverse reactions?

Dysautonomia is a condition that affects the autonomic nervous system. It can be genetic or sometimes induced from drug withdrawal. The sympathetic and parasympathetic parts of the autonomic nervous system dont communicate well, and we get a lot of symptoms from different organs. It is common to experience too high or slow heartbeat and many other symptoms. Reactions like this form WD is quite common and not dangerous or life threatening. SSRI can cause this dysfunction as a side effect or from WD. You need to stabilize and the symptoms should lessen over time, if this is what you got. There is no cure og treatment that can fix this. You just need to ride it out.

If your symptoms started after the missing dose, this could be WD-symptoms. You prob need to hold current dose and stabilize. Too many changes is risky. Just my opinion. You could taper further once your symptoms are less severe.

Have you thought about splitting your dose and taking it twice daily?  If you do decide to try it, it would be better to move it by 1 hour each day (either forward or back, depending on when you currently take your dose.
