Merde.

Time to turn off the internet and check into a home.......

Realized after it posted that I wanted it to be in the 'Media' section. Could a mod move it please and delete this sentence?

What happened and how I arrived here: http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/topic/4243-cymbaltawithdrawal5600-introduction/#entry50878

July 2016 I have decided to leave my story here at SA unfinished. I have left my contact information in my profile for anyone who wishes to talk to me. I have a posting history spanning nearly 4 years and 3000+ posts all over the site.

Thank you to all who participated in my recovery. I'll miss talking to you but know that I'll be cheering you on from the sidelines, suffering and rejoicing with you in spirit, as you go on in your journey.

Quotes of future SA members if they have enough of a brain left to show up here from the link above.

The astounding effects of marketing... think back to the conversations you heard when you were a teenager.. how many of these quotes did you hear?  None for me not a one. I have been hearing kids talk about drugs young kids pre teens know the terms they know the ADD ADHD the drug names whos on what this is grade school.  What chance do these kids have for a normal life is this the new normal.. will the doctors and scientists of the future be drug addicts like us dealing with neuro emotions and paranoia ect when making life or death decisions... it is indeed a brave new world. Scares the crap out of me.

16 Things Only Girls On Antidepressants Will Understand" teaches teens that exchanging "horror stories" about the side-effects of psychiatric drugs is a great way to bond with friends, that there's nothing wrong with relying on antidepressants to function, and how incredibly annoying it is when someone has the audacity to recommend natural alternatives.

Below are among the most offensive points used to push psychotropic drugs:

People who tell you that they think psychiatric meds are evil are SO ANNOYING. Going on antidepressants literally saved my life and allows me to be a functional human being, but please, keep telling me about that one article you read that totally proves your point.

Your body is basically a science experiment until you find the right meds. It's so rare to initially be prescribed the medication that's right for you, so you have to try lots of different meds out. But when you find that perfect combination of meds, you realize it was probably worth it.

Exchanging medication horror stories with friends is now a ritual activity. "Did I tell you about the time my doctor prescribed my Lexapro and I slept for 14 hours a day?" "Oh my god, no way! Once my doctor prescribed me Abilify and I gained 15 pounds..."

People asking you why you're on antidepressants is rude as hell. OK, I know this might sound crazy, but I take them because I have this disease called major depressive disorder.

Meeting someone who's on the same meds as you. No better way to bond than learning a new friend is also on Wellbutrin! Yay!

Explaining all your pills you take to your new bae. This one helps me go to sleep, this one helps me wake up, this one is for depression, this one's for anxiety...

Someone who acts like psychiatric medications are just as dangerous as party drugs is just the WORST. Nope. Sorry. Bye.

People who ask you if you've tried a "natural" solution, as if they're being really helpful. Have you tried not offering unsolicited advice to me?

Those moments where you can't remember whether you took your pills. 'Cause who knows what happens if you take them twice?!

WARNING THIS WILL BE LONG
Had a car accident in 85
Codeine was the pain med when I was release from hosp continuous use till 89
Given PROZAC by a specialist to help with nerve pain in my leg 89-90 not sure which year
Was not told a thing about it being a psych med thought it was a pain killer no info about psych side effects I went nuts had hallucinations. As I had a head injury and was diagnosed with a concussion in 85 I was sent to a head injury clinic in 1990 five years after the accident. I don't think they knew I had been on prozac I did not think it a big deal and never did finish the bottle of pills. I had tests of course lots of them. Was put into a pain clinic and given amitriptyline which stopped the withdrawal but had many side effects. But I could sleep something I had not done in a very long time the pain lessened. My mother got cancer in 94 they switched my meds to Zoloft to help deal with this pressure as I was her main care giver she died in 96. I stopped zoloft in 96 had withdrawal was put on paxil went nutty quit it ct put on resperidol quit it ct had withdrawal was put on Effexor... 2years later celexa was added 20mg then increased to 40mg huge personality change went wild. Did too fast taper off Celexa 05 as I felt unwell for a long time prior... quit Effexor 150mg ct 07 found ****** 8 months into withdrawal learned some things was banned from there in 08 have kept learning since. there is really not enough room here to put my history but I have a lot of opinions about a lot of things especially any of the drugs mentioned above.
One thing I would like to add here is this tidbit ALL OPIATES INCREASE SEROTONIN it is not a huge jump to being in chronic pain to being put on an ssri/snri and opiates will affect your antidepressants and your thinking.

As I do not update much I will put my quit date Nov. 17 2007 I quit Effexor cold turkey.

Thanks for posting this CW because it lead me to a great reference.

Gwen Owen said in one of her talks that 70 % of americans taking an ad arent even depressed. When i heard that i was astounded and wondered where is she getting that from and that article says where...well almost where.

Approximately 10 percent of Americans are prescribed antidepressants, and while they are essential for some, depression pills are vastly over-prescribed.

The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry reported last year that 69 percent of people taking selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), the most commonly prescribed antidepressant, have never been diagnosed with major depressive disorder.

It clearly comes from some journal of clinical psychiatry ....stink still havent nailed it down as it didnt say which one.
But oh my goodness was going to remove the blue link and then i saw all the side effects listed in those article titles ...its massive so i left the link for others to see.

I think i might even save this in my intro.

Anyone  know what journal article that is sourced from....

We have until the 14th. Feb 2018.

URGENT REQUEST Please consider submitting  for the petition on Prescribed Drug Dependence and Withdrawal currently awaiting its third consideration at the Scottish Parliament. You don't even have to be from Scotland. By clicking on the link below you can read some of the previous submissions but be warned many of them are quite harrowing.

http://www.parliament.scot/GettingInvolved/Petitions/PE01651

Please tell them about your problems taking and withdrawing from antidepressants and/or benzos.

Send by email to petitions@parliament.scot and quote PE01651 in the subject heading. Keep to a maximum of 3 sides of A4 and you can't name for legal reasons any doctor you have consulted. Tell them if you wish to remain anonymous. We need the numbers to help convince the committee members we are not isolated cases. You have until mid February. Thank you

None of the published articles shed light on what ssri's ... actually do or what their hazards might be. Healy 2013.

This is so true, with anything you get on these drugs, dependance, tapering, withdrawal symptoms, side effects, just silent. And if there is something mentioned then their is a serious disconnect between what is said and reality!

"Every time I read of a multi-person shooting, I always presume that person had just started a SSRI or had just stopped."  Dr Mosher. Me too!

Over two decades later, the number of antidepressant prescriptions a year is slightly more than the number of people in the Western world. Most (nine out of 10) prescriptions are for patients who faced difficulties on stopping, equating to about a tenth of the population. These patients are often advised to continue treatment because their difficulties indicate they need ongoing treatment, just as a person with diabetes needs insulin. Healy 2015

I believe the ssri era will soon stand as one of the most shameful in the history of medicine. Healy 2015

not a journal

this ones pretty

http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-rise-of-all-purpose-antidepressants/

“We’ve decided as a society that it’s too expensive to modify the kid’s environment. So we have to modify the kid,” Anderson said.

"A researcher at Washington University in St. Louis, Dr. Ramesh Raghavan, goes even further with this chilling comment: “We are effectively forcing local community psychiatrists to use the only tool at their disposal [to “level the playing field” in low-income neighborhoods], which is psychotropic medicine.”

The rationale is, the drugged kids will now be able to compete with children from wealthier families who attend better schools.

Leading the way is Dr. Michael Anderson, a pediatrician in the Atlanta area. Incredibly, Anderson told the New York Times his diagnoses of ADHD are “made up,” “an excuse” to hand out the drugs.

The legal drug traffickers (pharmaceutical companies) are banking on the obvious: rope in a child, get him on psychiatric meds, and you may well have a customer for life.

The last one will just make you mad it did me.

Now I will see what CW found :)

This would be me

Among antidepressant users, 69% never met criteria for major depressive disorder (MDD); and 38% never met criteria for MDD, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, social phobia, or generalized anxiety disorder in their lifetime. Female gender, Caucasian ethnicity, recent or current physical problems (eg, loss of bladder control, hypertension, and back pain), and recent mental health facility visits were associated with antidepressant use in addition to mental disorders.

Conclusions: Many individuals who are prescribed and use antidepressant medications may not have met criteria for mental disorders. Our data indicate that antidepressants are commonly used in the absence of clear evidence-based indications.

Nope, I'm a ferret, a nosy dogged ferret. I dig dig dig till I find what I want but I leave the encyclopedia-ing to google. I took the first part of the sentence about the study, plugged it into goog and it found what I wanted.

I have been a googler since it was first invented. Was a member of the grc.com forums long ago and Steve told us about it. Stanford grad. Smart guys, them. That's why I remembered how it USED to be, not the money grubbing crap it is now.

I had a habit of reading the 50th or 100th result and often found gold. Nowadays it's nothing but irrelevant garbage in search, often totally unrelated to the query.

Nz, you have no idea how thrilled I was not to see you put an apostrophe in 'encyclopedias'. I stared at it in disbelief for a long time. Go kiss your teachers and hug yourself for retaining what you were taught and if you aren't married yet I'll volunteer...... Us grammarians are becoming extinct.
