I really hope I can recover in months and not years.

It is true if you join like a Facebook group a lot of people months later after joining will be like I feel so much better.

2005-2015 sertaline, 2015 to November 2018 escatalopram. Used liquid titration to drop doses. By 0.5mg at first then drops as small as 0.01mg at end of taper. Jumped of at 0.02mg

Wow. Even after cold turkey/fast taper being on long term like five-ten years or more?

Originally at 100 mg Zoloft and 150 mg xl Wellbutrin for ten years.

Abruptly dropped 50 mg of Zoloft April 2018.

Cut Wellbutrin in half (75 mg) for a month in December 2018.

Cold turkeyed Wellbutrin January 2019.

Reinstated Wellbutrin half of 150 xl (75 mg) in January 2019 and added Xanax.

ER visit iv of 5 mg Haloperidol.

Finished Xanax taper, cold turkeyed Wellbutrin February 2019 and added 10 mg buspar twice daily.

Tapering buspar

50 mg Zoloft at 10:00 am

2.5 mg buspar at 9:00 pm

I don’t check all the details and I just see them post five months later and I’m better and stuff like that.

Sometimes there would be people that barely took Ad’s and are messed up for a long time ,and others who took it for a long time and are fine. Seems so random.

I’m not sure if I will get in trouble dropping names on this site. Just look around in the Facebook groups. Just put your drug that you are withdrawing from in the search box and there’s usually withdrawal related ones that come up.

I've yet to read of anyone who successfully tapered off of Cymbalta and recovered.  All the stories I've read indicate that people are never the same and most had to go back on to another antidepressant.  Does anyone know of stories where people actually returned to their normal personalities after tapering and healing from Cymbalta?

2016-Aug-Prescribed 2 mg Ativan & 10 mg Ambien; Oct-c/o from 20 mg Lexapro to 60 mg Cymbalta; Nov-Dec-Tapered off 10 mg Ambien

2017-Jan-Feb c/o from 1.75 mg Ativan to 13 mg Valium & begin daily liquid micro taper; May-taper Cymbalta 60 mg to 48 mg with severe withdrawals.  Begin 11 month Cymbalta hold.

2018-Jan 11 completed Valium taper; Apr-Resume Cymbalta taper.  Interval dose progress: Apr 43 mg; May 40 mg; Jul 35 mg; Sep 29 mg; Dec 21 mg;

2019- Apr 14 mg; Jun 11 mg; Aug 9 mg; Oct 7 mg; Nov 6 mg

2020-Jan 5.2 mg; Feb 4.8 mg; Mar 4.3 mg; Apr 3.9 mg; May 3.5 mg; Jun 3.3 mg; Jul 2.9 mg; Aug 2.7 mg; 28 Sep 2.4 mg/12 beads; 25 Oct 2.2 mg/11 beads; 22 Nov 2.0 mg/10 beads; 20 Dec 1.8 mg/9 beads

2021- 17 Jan 1.6 mg/8 beads; 14 Feb 1.4 mg/7 beads; 18 Mar 1.2 mg/6 beads; 18 Apr 1.0 mg/5 beads; 16 May

0.8 mg/4 beads; 13 Jun 0.6 mg/3 beads; 11 Jul 0.5 mg/2 beads; 8 Aug .03 mg/1 bead; 5 Sep 0 mg.

Here's that statement and video about Paul:

GREAT NEWS!! Another success story: Paul, our guitarist in the far left, had an extremely traumtic antidepressant withdrawal experience. He was 'mostly better' for a while, dealing with residual problems but well enough to work. But he sent me this video recently and he now considers himself recovered, continues to work fulltime, and now gigs with a band. I am delighted for him. He gave me permission to post here. Thank you, Paul. 2764.png❤️

@sunnysideup69, which is the success story? This person certainly has done a lot of work regarding recovery from psychiatric drug withdrawal.

Hi @Altostrata, I've watched about fifty per cent of the vids, and at the beginning of mostly all of them he mentions that he is, I think, now 5 years off Paxil and 4 years off Xanax. However, so far I haven't heard a specific video where he chronologically goes through his withdrawal journey, it's more a case that he gives fragments of the story away in different videos. Maybe this should be in a different space?

He is encouraging and he has recovered. I believe he went through a number of years of PAWS. I've asked him for more specifics.

@Altostrata  Hes was on 20-40 mg of Paxil and 4-6 mg of Xanax for 14 years .. He CT'd the Paxil and tapered the Xanax over a year . He was on stiff amounts of blood pressure meds as well .  He smoked a pack of cigarettes a day and drank a lot of beer ( during WD ) .. He turned the corner at 24-36 months and has been off everything for 6 years .. He's a writer and a very encouraging guy ..

December 2014 - Lexapro 20 mg

August 2016 Med free (6 week taper)

December 22 2021  added Abilify 5mg / Ativan .5mg / Depakote ER 1000mg

Discontinued Abilify 5mg on 12-30-21---accidental dose on 1-13-22 (looks like Ativan)

Ativan PRN/Discontinued 1-14-22

Only drug is Depakote ER 1000mg ( looking to taper slow and safe for once )

3/24/22 Depakote 625mg

@Alice1, yeah, heard him mention the beers....perhaps he could have shortened his recovery time if he had laid off them, but the main thing is, he recovered 😁😀

Was also quite relieved to hear him say he took between 24 and 36 months to really turn the corner. Not that I wished him long suffering, just more confirmation that it's normal. He's very encouraging to listen to, I've been listening in this wave and it's really helped.

Yes, I have one of the books. I'm not religious, but there is some nice info on them, quotes that talk about how all the "damage" is reversible with proper care and so forth, that withdrawal is only temporary.

Also, after the coaching sessions, you get notes from the session to reflect upon.

That's pretty cool and he does seem like a remarkably positive individual. I'm not religious either, but I'd say I have spiritual beliefs, and I could relate in that similar respect.

Michael  has been an absolute blessing to me. Ive been having sessions with him now for a year. He is so kind, positive and supportive.  He listens and is always encouraging.  He spends so much time writing the follow up notes as well. Im really greatful for him. @Aleja if you scroll to the very first post in this thread, there's a video (along with several others) of Paul talking about his initiation into psychiatric drugs and his recovery. It's from cepuk.org

3/21/19 started Bupropion XL 150 mg

3/21/19 started Risperidone 2mg

7/7/19 start Abilify half dose 5 mg. discontinue Risperidone

7/9/19 full dose Abilify 10 mg

7/29/19 discontinued Abilify due to panicky side effects

8/2/19 Began Latuda 20 mg

8/5/19 discontinued Latuda due to similar side effects

8/10/19 discontinued Bupropion after realizing it was causing the insomnia

From 8/10/19 no drugs whatsoever

Currently taking vitamin C, D, E, a probiotic and fish oil.

Hi everybody,

I saw this video from a guy named Dave who has endured cognitive problems:

.

In this video (6:30 and later) it seems that he is recovered and able to work again as an engineer.

Citalopram augustus 2020 - 20 mg untill 14 february 2021 quit cold turkey. No alcohol use or other medicine. No surgery.  Only adviced supplements and little bit of vitamine D because of defficieny.

Thank you for the recovery stories. I fear that because I started taking ADs when I was 19, and my brain not fully developed, I may struggle more in creating pathways and changing the biochemistry in my brain. I fear that because my full brain wasn’t completely “wired” when I started ADs that it may not find its way. And then, I get so tired of living in fear. This has been part of my mood swings during the first 3 weeks lol. And when the rollercoaster is up, I laugh at all these things. At the end of the day, no one can predict the future. But success stories from people who started meds before 25 (or better yet, before 21) would be GREATLY appreciated.

As I read from this topic, I also wonder what “recovery” means for each person as it may be tied to a very personal/individual goal. Personally, I’m not sure I know what my baseline was as I had not fully developed. But then again, every 7-10 years or so (I read somewhere) all our cells are different so we continue to go through growth spurts throughout all our life.

So… I am genuinely interested in what are people’s definition of recovery? What moods do you all experience more during recovery? Did you get some life quality after WD? What are the reasons most people here are working to be drug free? (Honest, curious question)

my own expectation is that I may feel more peaceful. That I may feel more and learn how to manage all the feels I couldn’t feel while on psychoactive drugs. I hope and pray that it doesn’t interfere with my life and loved ones and my abilities too much as I want a family.

Thoughts? Anyone care to answer your personal definitions and goals? 🙂

Reading these posts gives me some hope. I'm still scared about what the future may bring

- Late 2011/Early 2012? - Started celexa 10mg.

- Sometime in 2012? - Due to doctors advice, jumped to 20mg. Not sure when but doctor suggested 40mg. Tried it for a bit, did not like it, felt flat and had low libido so doctor told me to go down to 30mg.

- Started skipping 1 day or 2 days sometimes due to forgetting and hated being on drugs, felt it was a hassle. It became routine to skip one day and only take it when I felt withdrawal symptoms kick in like dizziness. Always took one 20mg pill and broke the second pill in half.

- May 17 2022, finally talked to my doctor about tapering. Suggested I take 10 mg everyday. Tried taking only 10mg, started getting dizzy, took another half tablet, got horrible anxiety that night. Got scared, had to stop and reinstate back to 30mg that night.

- May 18 2022 discovered and joined survivingantidepressants.org (woozy head and impaired balance lasted 1 week)

- May 19 2022, began trying a reduction, (still skipping a day). Though had no scale so was inaccurately cutting my pills. No idea what dose I was taking, 25-27mg?

- May 25 2022, bought a mg scale and started to better measure my dose. Tried 10% reduction, 27mg. (still skipping a day)

- Ending of May was when I started having horrible anxiety

- June 1 2022, finally started 13.5mg dose 8:15am, and began taking my dose everyday now

- went to 13.7mg after a few weeks and still on it currently. Still taking my dose everyday. went up to 14 on 11/6

🏆 IMPROVEMENT AND RECOVERIES COMPILATION 🏆

Apologies in advance if there are duplicates or links do not work. Some users deleted their posts and some old recovery threads where removed. This was brought together from many links shared on the server. I have not had time to go through everything. I was going through each one, but it was taking forever.

I will try my best to update the post and fix errors.

Hopefully this can fuel some hope in the community!

I would like to thank everyone who provided recoveries and spreadsheets and made compilations.

Enjoy  :)
