Benzo Micro Taper Patent

Interesting to read, it contains all the knowledge I gathered in this forum:

Personal note: Intelectual property is a joke. A tool for big corporations to protect their incomes. Not a tool for innovation.

December 2015 One month Prozac at 10mg/day and every other day for MILD Anxiety ( What the hell??? No prior illness of any sort.)

Horrible side effects. Finally Cold Turkey.
May 2016 - Lamotrigine 0.5mg. Going up slowly. Sleep back to 8-9 hours normal (complete insomnia after Prozac).
June 2016 - 2 weeks 2.5mg Diazepam for Akathisia. Then lowered to 0.6mg/day.

Also Propranolol, Clonidine, occasional antihistamine, magnesium, B6 - for akathisia.

Experiencing severe protracted withdrawal. Symptoms got worse and changed each month.

Last symptom remaining - Severe Akathisia since May with (mostly) waves and (some) windows. (When worse: pacing, can't concentrate or even speak, difficulty eating, driving, getting out of the house, horrible pain, restlessness, headache, exhaustion)

Thanks for posting.  I'm okay with a patent granted for a software application that evaluates symptoms and history but think it's outrageous if a patent is granted for a method to reduce a drug!

There are many unsubstantiated “treatments.” These are based on sometimes false beliefs about the cause and proper treatment. Current “treatments” tend to taper the dosage too quickly for safety, or less often, tapering dosage quickly while anticipating the possibility of seizures. Additional drugs have also been used for “treatment” of [benzo withdrawal syndrome ] BWS, but these simply mask the condition while failing to correct the down-regulation of the Glutamate-GABA system. Down-regulation of the Glutamate-GABA system is recognized as the root-cause of bizarre expressions of benzo-dependency.

One problem with the taper plans is the failure to recognize that 1) recovery is based on the up-regulation of that GABA system, and 2) this up-regulation occurs not in days or in weeks but months and sometimes years. The misconceived treatment may also contribute to the very long time periods needed for proper treatment. By way of illustration, Less-than adequate taper plans appear to cause or allow Protracted Withdrawal Syndrome (PWS), which is the lingering malaise or a lasting feature of the former withdrawal syndrome.

Up-regulation of the GABA system requires months, and sometimes years. Therefore, taper plans employed over weeks or months result in withdrawal of the drug at a rate that far exceeds the individual body's ability to repair itself. No current discontinuation method seeks to address this, and this results in the nervous system being left without drug-support long before it is able to function without drug support.

We have until the 14th. Feb 2018.

URGENT REQUEST Please consider submitting  for the petition on Prescribed Drug Dependence and Withdrawal currently awaiting its third consideration at the Scottish Parliament. You don't even have to be from Scotland. By clicking on the link below you can read some of the previous submissions but be warned many of them are quite harrowing.

http://www.parliament.scot/GettingInvolved/Petitions/PE01651

Please tell them about your problems taking and withdrawing from antidepressants and/or benzos.

Send by email to petitions@parliament.scot and quote PE01651 in the subject heading. Keep to a maximum of 3 sides of A4 and you can't name for legal reasons any doctor you have consulted. Tell them if you wish to remain anonymous. We need the numbers to help convince the committee members we are not isolated cases. You have until mid February. Thank you

None of the published articles shed light on what ssri's ... actually do or what their hazards might be. Healy 2013.

This is so true, with anything you get on these drugs, dependance, tapering, withdrawal symptoms, side effects, just silent. And if there is something mentioned then their is a serious disconnect between what is said and reality!

"Every time I read of a multi-person shooting, I always presume that person had just started a SSRI or had just stopped."  Dr Mosher. Me too!

Over two decades later, the number of antidepressant prescriptions a year is slightly more than the number of people in the Western world. Most (nine out of 10) prescriptions are for patients who faced difficulties on stopping, equating to about a tenth of the population. These patients are often advised to continue treatment because their difficulties indicate they need ongoing treatment, just as a person with diabetes needs insulin. Healy 2015

I believe the ssri era will soon stand as one of the most shameful in the history of medicine. Healy 2015

I find it interesting that some are dx with MS that was my neurologists first I did when he seen me before I quit taking effexor I quit taking it ct on his advice tried to switch to cymbalta which failed followed by many other drugs.

I read a title of a post on SA today called naturopathic Gabba something or other I can't find it now... maybe something to add a bit of spice to the thought process... or not.  May be completely out of line as I am a bit out to lunch today.. sorry if it is ignore it all.

peace

WARNING THIS WILL BE LONG
Had a car accident in 85
Codeine was the pain med when I was release from hosp continuous use till 89
Given PROZAC by a specialist to help with nerve pain in my leg 89-90 not sure which year
Was not told a thing about it being a psych med thought it was a pain killer no info about psych side effects I went nuts had hallucinations. As I had a head injury and was diagnosed with a concussion in 85 I was sent to a head injury clinic in 1990 five years after the accident. I don't think they knew I had been on prozac I did not think it a big deal and never did finish the bottle of pills. I had tests of course lots of them. Was put into a pain clinic and given amitriptyline which stopped the withdrawal but had many side effects. But I could sleep something I had not done in a very long time the pain lessened. My mother got cancer in 94 they switched my meds to Zoloft to help deal with this pressure as I was her main care giver she died in 96. I stopped zoloft in 96 had withdrawal was put on paxil went nutty quit it ct put on resperidol quit it ct had withdrawal was put on Effexor... 2years later celexa was added 20mg then increased to 40mg huge personality change went wild. Did too fast taper off Celexa 05 as I felt unwell for a long time prior... quit Effexor 150mg ct 07 found ****** 8 months into withdrawal learned some things was banned from there in 08 have kept learning since. there is really not enough room here to put my history but I have a lot of opinions about a lot of things especially any of the drugs mentioned above.
One thing I would like to add here is this tidbit ALL OPIATES INCREASE SEROTONIN it is not a huge jump to being in chronic pain to being put on an ssri/snri and opiates will affect your antidepressants and your thinking.

As I do not update much I will put my quit date Nov. 17 2007 I quit Effexor cold turkey.

S. A. Correction

You are right. There are multiple attempts to imitate the real BenzoMicroTaper method that was developed in 2005 and published at <benzodetoxrecovery.com> in 2007.  These days bits of it are to be found at almost every benzo site.  Not one imitator was there when the BenzoMicroTaper was developed. Not one imitator appeared for years. Not one got it right either.

Back in 2005, all that was available was “medical detox” or the periodic standard of crossing over to Valium and then “cutting” from 0.25 milligram to 1.0 milligram every week to three weeks aka Ashton.

Then the real BMT is established as occurring in 2005, tested in 2007 and patented, for preservation, years before its faulty imitations appeared. What you see overall on the net now misses the essentials. It adds unsubstantiated or faulty claims.

Now, not one site seems to know that its many imitations do not include the most essential elements. And not one of these copycats was anywhere to be seen for years after the protocol was developed.

The real and groundbreaking BMT came in late 2005.  Years later it was so corrupted by uniformed wannabee’s that the creator of the Real BMT left the internet to offer the authentic BMT only through medical providers.  This is where it is today.

The BMT developer never earned a penny from helping those who asked. So much for the improper profit talk.

None of this meant to single out this website. Overall, Surviving Antidepressants does really well, and I recommend it to those surviving antidepressants.

However, what you see overall on the net now misses the mark. It adds unsubstantiated and faulty claims. So when you say that what you read of the BMT patented procedure is also posted here, just where did you think “here” got it?  Look at the dates.

The micro-taper method has been around for a jillion years. It doesn't take a stroke of genius to figure it out.

I was doing it long before I knew someone had managed to patent it.

Not sure what your point is. Only one person in the world can figure this out and everyone else is an imitator?

If you don't care to follow the methods of tapering we recommend here, you are welcome to follow another.

Thanks for your praise for our work.
