Good to see you coming out on top again, albeit with a few hiccups.

I used to take magnesium before I landed in this mess and it was great but of course now I can't tolerate any supplements so am thinking of trying the baths hoping it will help with sleeping. On a good night, I'm getting about four hours broken sleep. Do you soak right before bedtime?
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for 32 years, given AD for this condition alone in 2000
Zoloft 100mg for 15 years, last five of these complained about adverse effects,
unable to tolerate other meds even supplements
Slowly felt sicker, advised by different Dr maybe on ads for too long
Cut back 100 - 50 over 6 months, still getting worse, so stopped over about 6 weeks starting Dec 2014
First month, slow, emotional, useless then POW! Horrendous withdrawal symptoms, completely non-functional
for about five months, slowly started to come back to life and continue with waves and windows, still more bad than good, but bads are less bad, and goods slightly better each time

Hi Cherry!  Sorry about your sleep, I thought mine was bad enough at an average of 6 hours!!  I tried Epsom salts in the past without effect.  Just a few days I tried again, just half a cup of salts and I did notice my legs weren't so achey/painful and I despite waking after 1 hour, I woke several times after that, but was drowsy enough to get back to sleep and got a good 7 hours.

I have been trying my tablet (1/4) again dissolved in 3-4L water sipping over 3 days but my guts doesn't like it.  I will leave it for now and try again later.

In the meantime, I will try and have more baths.

I also have ordered from e-bay magnesium chloride because someone on this site raved about it.  You use it same as epsom salts in the bath.

Also, I saw magnesium oil on u-tube and how to make it myself so I will do that when the flakes arrive.

Let me know how you go with the bath and if it helps.

I was keen to make the magnesium/bicarbonate water but discovered that in Australia Milk of Magnesia is BANNED!  Apparently the UN banned in, so I don't know why you can still get it in the US and UK.  The reason was due to high sulphate.  GSK are going to change the recipe so it can be approved!

Hi all, I'm excited to share that greatly increasing my magnesium during what I know to be my most difficult days

resulted in NO middle-of-the-night rage and suicidality, which have up until now been a very consistent WD symptom for me…

This time around I was absolutely religious with magnesium, taking it in drink form (Natural Calm, divided doses totaling about 500 mg/day), topically (lotion), topically (spray) AND an Epsom salt bath each night. It was a lot to do, but well worth it.

Long story short: After 18 years on Paxil, "tapered" in July 2015 from 20 to 10 to 5 mg in a month, at doctor's advice. = Essentially a cold-turkey.

*Current*: March: 0.82 mg Paxil. Jan 1:  .88 mg, baby!! …. August 31: Less than 1mg Paxil! ... July 30: 1 mg Paxil! ! ! And 100 mg Zoloft unfortunately!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On Paxil since 1996--anxiety & depression likely caused by (then-undiagnosed) under-eating / eating disorder.

Rapid "taper" July 2015 and started Zoloft as a "cross-taper". Feb 2016: Found SA!! As of June 2016: Doing 2% cuts (Brassmonkey Slide!).

Now: fish oil, magnesium; protein; exercise; healthy fats; acupuncture, meditation, & a new doctor.  I am in recovery from an eating disorder!!!  ***Have you had a sleep study?***    *Feel free to message me if I don't respond to a forum thread.*

Hi, I am taking Mega Mag (https://traceminerals.com/mega-mag/), which contains magnesium chloride...I used to take magnesium glycinate...It seems that chloride does not have such a calming effect on me...Glycinate was helpful for sleeping but chloride does not help with this...Is there any explanation?

Anyone have trouble with the magnesium making their heart race after taking it? Maybe it goes away after a few days / weeks? I switched from the citrate to the oxide to dimish that, but maybe I should just stick with best Mg possible?

Magnesium oxide is very poorly absorbed. If you feel funny after taking any type of magnesium, take less by cutting up a tablet or opening the capsule and taking only part of it in water or other liquid.

Have been taking Magnesium Malate tablets for several months with no obvious discomforts.

I thought I had indigestion a bit with the chloride, but not 100% certain.

Basic chemistry - If you burn the metal magnesium, the resultant white ash is magnesium oxide.

Add water, you get Magnesium Hydroxide.  This is an old treatment for indigestion (stomach acidity) and also a laxative, I am certain.

Hence, after reading up on here and elsewhere, I take Malate.

Are you in favour of that one Alto, and ors?

Thanks.

Peng, magnesium malate is an absorbable form of magnesium. It's at least as easy to absorb as a citrate formulation and may not cause the digestive issues that citrate does.

So i was wondering about magnesium, it says is a calcium channel blocker, should we NOT take calcium while on withdrawal, will that slow down our healing?

2006-2013 Zoloft prescribed for one panic attack 25 mg - 100 mg

05/2013 extreme anxiety prescribed Klonopin 1 mg per day took only as needed

08/2013 Panic attacks with anxiety; increased to 150 mg Zoloft / prescribed Wellbutrin also dont remember dose

Hi all, I'm going to try Magnesium L-Threonate and was wondering if anyone else has had any success with this particular form of magnesium. Apparently it is quite a new form of magnesium and has been shown to cross the blood-brain barrier.

Here's the link to the description of this particular supplement on Dr Mercola's website. There's some interesting information about the role of magnesium in the body and different foods that are high in magnesium.

Also, please note that I'm not endorsing this product. I just thought the information might be useful to anyone interested in this topic.

Prozac 30 mg for many years.

Short two-week taper to 20 mg followed by 5 day washout period. (January 2017)

Lexapro 10 mg for 25 days. Stopped due to intolerable side-effects, notably palpitations and tinnitus. (February 2017)

Two day washout period before reinstating Prozac at 40 mg. (February 2017)

3 weeks later end up in ER due to severe palpitations and dizziness. (March 2017)

2 weeks of insomnia and intermittent akathesia. (March 2017)

Also ongoing palpitations, hypnic jerks, muscle twitches and other symptoms.

Currently on Prozac 30 mg (just trying to stabilize, not ready to taper yet).

Alpha have you tried this yet I have read through this whole post and there are some who have tried it and liked it but not too many.
Paxil 10mg started around 2013 dropped to 5mg for 1 week then C/T August 2016.

Buspar 10 mg 2x daily started 2013 fluctuating amounts in the past 8 months currently on 10mg 3x daily still currently taking. Wanting to taper soon.

Tried cylexa 1 week at beginning of August 2016.
Tried wellbutrin 1 week after cylexa stopped both.

Hello Dwell, yes I tried it but decided to switch to Magnesium Glycinate. I'm also trying to get as much magnesium from my diet as possible.

ikam, magnesium chloride is well-absorbed but a comparatively weak form of magnesium supplementation. If you can't get anything else, it will do.

wintery, taking calcium at the same time as magnesium will cancel out magnesium's relaxing effect, as they compete for the calcium channel. (Unless you have a specific serious medical condition requiring calcium supplementation, you don't need to take calcium.)
