Thank you. Am glad it is appreciated.

Various psychiatric drug treatments since 1990. Prozac & Stelazine in 1994 for a few years. 1200mg Amisulpride in 1998 for a year. 1999 to current time have maintained 200mg of Amisulpride & increased to 300mg a few years ago, with 2 stopping attempts in 2001 & 2003/4. i stopped all medications 5 times, for around 8 years in total, but the last 3 withdrawal/stopping attempts were disastrous. Am very unsure about stopping medication again. Have recently (in Winter 2018) had to increase the Amisulpride to 400mg.

Within my own search for answers & healing i have looked into a lot of areas.

i feel that it makes sense on certain levels that energetic realities are very real, & that everything is energy, light & consciousness. That we exist energetically - there are 7 main Chakras, 7 energy bodies that make up the self, 7 levels to creation, etc.

The 7 levels are outlined here -

http://www.energyreality.com/pgs/7lev.htm

http://sudhakarvreddy.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/esoterics-of-seven-bodies-mysteries-of_2.html

There is a basic outline of certain aspects of what may be happening on an energetic level within psychosis here -

http://www.alchemyrealm.com/psychosis.htm[Active Links on the Left]

Eastern Philosophy as well as Western Esotericism has always acknowledged these realities.

Some good books that i have found on the subject, among many, are -

The Subtle Body: An Encyclopedia of Your Energetic Anatomy Paperback – by Cyndi Dale

The Subtle Energy Body: The Complete Guide Paperback by Maureen Lockhart Ph.D.

Hands of Light & Light Emerging by Barbara Brennan.

Just an idea for an area that for some people may be worth looking into?

Is Consciousness More than the Brain? | Interview with Dr. Gary Schwartz

"Although the overwhelming consensus among neuroscientists today is that the brain alone creates conscious experience, for decades acclaimed scientists around the world have conducted research that provides a very different picture. One of the most remarkable of these researchers is Dr. Gary Schwartz, professor of psychology, medicine, neurology, psychiatry and surgery at the University of Arizona and director of its Laboratory for Advances in Consciousness and Health.

Dr. Schwartz’s extensive work with mediums supports the conclusion that our brains are not the “creators” of consciousness, but instead are “antenna-receivers”—and further, that consciousness DOES survive physical death: (Dr.Schwartz’s website: http://www.drgaryschwartz.com/)"

Psychosynthesis

https://www.synthesiscenter.org/ps.htm

"In its most basic sense, Psychosynthesis is simply a name for the process of personal growth:  the natural tendency in each of us to harmonize or synthesize our various aspects at ever more inclusive levels of organization.  In its more specific sense, Psychosynthesis is a name for the conscious attempt to cooperate with the natural process of personal development.  All living things contain within them a drive to evolve, to become the fullest realization of themselves.  This process can be supported consciously, and Psychosynthesis is one means to do this.

Cooperating effectively with this process can be assisted by a conceptual understanding of the nature of this evolution, and by practical techniques.  Psychosynthesis provides these and integrates them into an inclusive and ever-growing framework designed to support the individual, groups, and the planet in their process of unfolding.

As an inclusive approach to human growth, Psychosynthesis dates from 1911 and the early work of Roberto Assagioli, an Italian Psychiatrist.  Though one of the pioneers of psychoanalysis in Italy, Assagioli maintained that Freud had not given sufficient weight to the “higher” aspects of the human personality, and recognized a need for a more inclusive concept of humanity.  From this beginning Assagioli and an increasing number of psychotherapists, educators, physicians, social workers, clergy, and others have worked to develop and refine this inclusive view of human growth.  The task is considered to be an open one, one that will never by finished.  Each year, new discoveries in psychology, new developments in education, religion, anthropology, physics and other disciplines add to the principles and to the techniques of Psychosynthesis.  Psychosynthesis, by its very nature, is always open to new approaches to human development."

Over the past sixty years, a number of conceptual points and a number of methods have proven themselves to be fundamental.  These provide a working structure for Psychosynthesis.

Mental Illness Is More Than Just Depression and Anxiety -

http://nymag.com/scienceofus/2016/08/mental-illness-is-more-than-just-depression-and-anxiety.html

"Psychosis, in broad terms, is a condition that causes hallucinations, delusions, or thought disorders. This can include auditory or visual hallucinations, delusions of grandeur or persecutory delusions, and sometimes catatonia, an extreme loss of motor skill. And if it is indeed talked about less than, say, depression, it could be at least partly because psychosis is so much less common. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, 100,000 young people experience a psychotic episode per year, compared to 16 million who will have an episode of major depression within that same time period. Overall prevalence of psychosis (which, it’s important to note, can also be a symptom of major depression) stands at roughly 3 percent of the U.S. population (or about 9 million people), with depression affecting around 22 million, or 7 percent, of the population.

Empirical evidence also suggests that many people with psychosis have likely had similar interpersonal experiences as the one described above. Research has suggested that individuals with psychosis are “viewed most negatively by the public” and experience the most discrimination compared to people with other psychiatric disorders, said David Kimhy, associate professor of clinical psychology at Columbia University Medical Center. In other words, people with psychosis make up the most highly stigmatized group within those with mental-health issues."

It's frightening in ways how entrenched all the gang stalking/V2K/Mind Control/Conspiracy crap has got.

i don't doubt that there is something within such areas, just as there is a likely grain of truth within a lot of psychosis. But for a mass delusion to go largely so unchallenged is a worry.

i don't think it's as widespread in the UK as it is America.

Personality trait or mental disorder? The same genes may weigh in on both -

http://www.latimes.com/science/sciencenow/la-sci-sn-personality-mental-illness-genes-20161208-story.html

"You don’t need fancy genome-sequencing or brain-imaging equipment to know that some of the people we know and love are just a little, well, out there.

We used to call these people “worriers,” “creative types,” “eccentrics” or “loners.” Like the rest of us, they seem to have come into the world with some recognizably fixed personality settings: They’re friendly or moody or dreamy or disorganized. They’re just more extremely so.

Increasingly, we’ve come to acknowledge that some people who occupy the outer fringes of those character types have psychiatric disorders that stand in the way of their living the lives they want. At some point, the pronounced traits they’ve had from the start got nudged over an invisible line by age, adversity or life’s escalating demands.

They have a mental illness: depression, attention deficit disorder, bipolar depression, schizophrenia.

This notion — that mental illnesses are largely inborn personality traits that get pushed into extreme territory by life experience — has just gotten some high-tech confirmation from researchers at UC San Diego.

Aggregating the genetic profiles of close to 261,000 people, a UCSD team led by neuroscientist Chi-Hua Chen has identified six regions of the human genome that are significantly linked to specific personality traits. And when they compared the genetic regions linked to certain personality traits with the genetic sites that can be linked to certain psychiatric disorders, they found some remarkable points of overlap."

"In sociology and psychology, mass hysteria (also known as collective hysteria, group hysteria, or collective obsessional behavior) is a phenomenon that transmits collective illusions of threats, whether real or imaginary, through a population in society as a result of rumors and fear (memory acknowledgment).[1][2]

In medicine, the term is used to describe the spontaneous manifestation (production in chemicals in the body) of the same or similar hysterical physical symptoms by more than one person.[3][4]

A common type of mass hysteria occurs when a group of people believe they are suffering from a similar disease or ailment,[5] sometimes referred to as mass psychogenic illness or epidemic hysteria.[6]"

Mind is Brain? A basic random article on the subject -

https://www.edge.org/response-detail/25290

Or Google 'mind is brain'

What do people here think about this question?

i see things as integral/holistic - mind/body/soul/spirit/environment. That we exist at biological, psychological/emotional, soul/spiritual/transpersonal/energetic & sociological/environmental/relational levels.

A lot of people seem to consider that we are 'just' a physical body/brain.

i don't think that a lot of people really consider it all, but in conversation with a lot of people they do seem to be primarily identified with themselves being 'just' a physical body/brain - By logic any psychological/emotional problem according to that understanding is going to be a problem with biology.

As to what comes under the diagnosis of psychosis/schizophrenia & mental illness in general -

How much is it primarily a biological problem? How much a psychological/emotional problem? How much a sociological problem? How much a spiritual problem?

Are there different reasons for different cases?

Is it a question that is possible to answer? Is it better to see it all as a whole person condition & that things are effected on multiple/integral levels? That is of course dependent on what paradigm someone takes as to the nature of the self/reality? Materialism or other viewpoints.

How much are the Mystic & Shamanic areas relevant also to what comes under psychosis?

"Are the mystics and sages insane? Because they all tell variations on the same story, don't they? The story of awakening one morning and discovering you are one with the All, in a timeless and eternal and infinite fashion. Yes, maybe they are crazy, these divine fools. Maybe they are mumbling idiots in the face of the Abyss. Maybe they need a nice, understanding therapist. Yes, I'm sure that would help. But then, I wonder. Maybe the evolutionary sequence really is from matter to body to mind to soul to spirit, each transcending and including, each with a greater depth and greater consciousness and wider embrace. And in the highest reaches of evolution, maybe, just maybe, an individual's consciousness does indeed touch infinity — a total embrace of the entire Kosmos — a Kosmic consciousness that is Spirit awakened to its own true nature. It's at least plausible. And tell me: is that story, sung by mystics and sages the world over, any crazier than the scientific materialism story, which is that the entire sequence is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying absolutely nothing? Listen very carefully: just which of those two stories actually sounds totally insane?"

One thing that helps me is to see your withdrawal process as your own personal journey. Do not internalize someone else's withdrawal as your own.

The Art of Politics

http://stevedpugh72.wixsite.com/makeadifference/single-post/2016/12/12/The-Art-of-Politics

"None of this is a coincidence it is a simple trick that has been used for centuries. Divide and conquer. By making the people blame each other for everything that goes wrong the ruling classes can get away with just about anything. If you can't make them blame each other find someone that you can blame, the Royals, the Muslims, the Jews, the EU. Just as long as the people never get time to stop and realise that it is really the Government that are at fault. That is why we are repeatedly being bombarded by these stories. Divide and conquer. Subjugate the people through fear and hatred. Keep the punters eyes on the left hand whilst the right steals his wallet."

“The world today hangs by a thin thread, and that thread is the psyche of man.”
- C. G. Jung

"How does anyone possibly express in words the state of collective madness that humanity has fallen into at this time in our history? As if in a hypnotic trance, our species is enacting a mass ritual suicide on a global scale, rushing as fast as we can towards our own self-destruction. We are destroying the biospheric life-support systems of the planet in so many different ways that it is as if we are determined to make this suicide attempt work—using a variety of methods as a perverse insurance policy, in case a couple of them don’t do the job. What modern-day humanity is confronted with, to quote the author and Trappist monk Thomas Merton, is “a crisis of sanity first of all.” In trying to find a way to write about this state of affairs, I find myself going “off-planet,” imagining what it would look like if some enlightened aliens, in their travels throughout the universe, came upon our planet. Observing from a distance, they would naturally see all the various living beings who call planet earth home as related members of one larger organism—a single eco-system—who literally depend upon each other for survival."

Russell Targ is a physicist who spent several decades working in a US government program exploring "remote viewing" - an apparently anomalous extended characteristic of the mind. Targ is convinced the effect is real. This talk was originally slated as part of a TEDx event in Hollywood in 2013, but the organization pulled their support when they learned about the subjects.

"With Donald Trump's nomination of climate change denialist Scott Pruitt to head the Environmental Protection Agency, it's expected that any environmental gains made under Obama will be threatened and activists will be called on to more vigorously fight against the capitalists destroying our planet.

It is becoming increasingly evident that global warming is fundamentally linked to the regime of capital accumulation - a fact that no major government is willing to confront. How then should we think through such looming climate catastrophe? Here we present a reading list which aims to tackle one of the greatest issues facing us today."

Psychiatry Gone Astray

The doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.' - Thomas A. Edison

https://davidhealy.org/psychiatry-gone-astray/

"At the Nordic Cochrane Centre, we have researched antidepressants for several years and I have long wondered why leading professors of psychiatry base their practice on a number of erroneous myths. These myths are harmful to patients. Many psychiatrists are well aware that the myths do not hold and have told me so, but they don’t dare deviate from the official positions because of career concerns.

Being a specialist in internal medicine, I don’t risk ruining my career by incurring the professors’ wrath and I shall try here to come to the rescue of the many conscientious but oppressed psychiatrists and patients by listing the worst myths and explain why they are harmful.

Myth 1: Your disease is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain

Most patients are told this but it is completely wrong. We have no idea about which interplay of psychosocial conditions, biochemical processes, receptors and neural pathways that lead to mental disorders and the theories that patients with depression lack serotonin and that patients with schizophrenia have too much dopamine have long been refuted. The truth is just the opposite. There is no chemical imbalance to begin with, but when treating mental illness with drugs, we create a chemical imbalance, an artificial condition that the brain tries to counteract.

This means that you get worse when you try to stop the medication. An alcoholic also gets worse when there is no more alcohol but this doesn’t mean that he lacked alcohol in the brain when he started drinking.

The vast majority of doctors harm their patients further by telling them that the withdrawal symptoms mean that they are still sick and still need the mediciation. In this way, the doctors turn people into chronic patients, including those who would have been fine even without any treatment at all. This is one of the main reasons that the number of patients with mental disorders is increasing, and that the number of patients who never come back into the labour market also increases. This is largely due to the drugs and not the disease."

Long-Term Antipsychotic Use May Result in Poorer Cognitive Functioning

Association found between long-term antipsychotic use and poorer performance on cognitive tasks in adults diagnosed with ‘schizophrenia'

https://www.madinamerica.com/2016/12/study-suggests-long-term-antipsychotic-use-may-result-poorer-cognitive-functioning/

"A new study, published in Psychiatry Research, investigates the relationship between cumulative antipsychotic medication use and global cognition in adults diagnosed with ‘schizophrenia.’ Results of the study, conducted in Finland, suggest that long-term use of antipsychotics may harm cognitive functioning.

The authors state that “evidence of the benefits of antipsychotic treatment is persuasive only during the first years of illness” and many studies have raised concerns about the long-term outcomes antipsychotic medication. The authors note, “because many schizophrenia patients receive antipsychotic treatment for several years or permanently, it is imperative to study the effects of not only short-term but also lifelong antipsychotic treatment.”"

13 Drugs Whose Risks Emerged Only When They Went Off Patent, Part One

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/martha-rosenberg/drug-patents_b_4696638.html

"Have you ever noticed how warnings about dangerous prescription drug always seem to surface after the drug is no longer marketed and its patent has run out? As in after the fact? Whether it’s an FDA advisory or a trial lawyer solicitation about harm that may have been done to you, the warnings are always belated and useless. If a drug people took four years ago may have given them liver damage, why didn’t the FDA tell them then? Why didn’t the FDA recall the drug or better yet, not approve it in the first place?

Of course, the official answer from the FDA and Big Pharma is that problems with a drug are only seen when millions begin using it, which is why post-marketing surveillance is conducted. In other words: Who knew? But in a startling number of cases revealed in court documents, Pharma did “know” and clearly misled medical journals, the FDA, doctors and patients, hoping to get its “patent’s worth” before the true risks of a drug surfaced. In other cases, Pharma and the FDA should have known before rushing a dangerous drug to market and making money at the expense of patients."

"TRUE INDIVIDUALITY

'How can we work for our real benefits?'

'Imagine yourself standing in the middle of a stream. The flowing
water tends to push you downstream. If you give in to the pressure
you do what most people do, that is, you permit yourself to be
carried downstream. You must be truly individualistic. You must not
let a negative self or a negative society carry you away. Instead, go
against the common social flow and work your way upstream. There are
astonishing sights at the source of the stream.'"

Did Jesus Exist or Is It All a Myth?

https://owlcation.com/humanities/Did-Jesus-Exist-or-Is-it-All-Myth

Was Jesus God, Man, or Myth?

"Some biblical scholars question whether or not a historical Jesus ever existed. Others are convinced that there was an actual Jesus although he was fully human and did not perform miracles. And, of course, most Christians believe that the entire Jesus story as told in the Bible is completely true.

Biblical scholarship is a very complex field of study. One area of research delves into the question of whether or not Jesus ever existed as man or god. I've been researching this question and I'd like to layout the main reasons for skepticism about the existence of Jesus. The arguments and evidence could fill books—and they do—but I will just hit the highlights. I refer you to the books for the details.

We cannot use the Bible as an historical reference since the Bible is what is being examined. Additionally, the Bible shows itself to be an unreliable document because it reports myth as truth, and even when dealing with known facts of history, geography, and science, it gets some of those facts wrong."

"I want to start this talk off with a very positive statement.
Human life on earth is ten thousand times worse than it appears
to be. That’s a positive statement because it’s a true statement.
It’s as if you heard that a certain town had a village idiot and
you go into that town and you find out that everyone’s an idiot.
Are you discovering that on your own, wherever you go? Well, we’re
going to do something about our shallowness of perception. We’re
going to learn how to dig deeper into the problem and uncover it
so that in the uncovering, the problem has no place to live, to
dwell and to continue to cause harm."

If You Want to Evolve, Be Mindful

https://www.scienceandnonduality.com/if-you-want-to-evolve-be-mindful/

By Deepak Chopra, MD and Rudolph E. Tanzi, PhD

"Human beings are unique in the scenario of life on Earth–that much is obvious. We are guided by awareness, and to implement our wishes, dreams, and inventions, the higher brain (chiefly the cerebral cortex) has evolved to extraordinary proportions. Although classical Darwinism is mindless, and staunchly defended as such by strict materialists, Homo sapiens is no longer caught in the clutches of natural selection. As we know, human society is very different from the state of nature. Chimpanzees don’t get their food at the grocery store, and we don’t get ours by fighting with rivals in the treetops.

So the real dilemma isn’t whether human evolution is guided by mind, because clearly it is. What remains puzzling is how much connection there is between our mind and our genes. There is no doubt that the roughly 23,000 genes you inherited from your parents remain the same throughout your lifetime. If the genetic blueprint was as fixed as an architect’s plans, there would be no mind-gene connection. You would be the puppet of DNA, mechanically carrying out whatever actions are programmed into the 3 billion base pairs that constitute the human genome.

To defenders of strict Darwinism, the difference between instinct, which controls animal behavior, and mind, which gives freedom of choice, is lost. But no one who isn’t harping on an agenda could claim that a Mozart symphony or the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel was created by instinct. The range of the human mind is vast and creative. But as we create the complex human world, are our genes listening? If so, are they cooperating in our creative enterprises?"

Materialism: a system that eats us from the inside out -

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/dec/09/materialism-system-eats-us-from-inside-out

"Buying more stuff is associated with depression, anxiety and broken relationships. It is socially destructive and self-destructive

That they are crass, brash and trashy goes without saying. But there is something in the pictures posted on Rich Kids of Instagram (and highlighted by the Guardian last week) that inspires more than the usual revulsion towards crude displays of opulence. There is a shadow in these photos – photos of a young man wearing all four of his Rolex watches, a youth posing in front of his helicopter, endless pictures of cars, yachts, shoes, mansions, swimming pools and spoilt white boys throwing gangster poses in private jets – of something worse: something that, after you have seen a few dozen, becomes disorienting, even distressing.

The pictures are, of course, intended to incite envy. They reek instead of desperation. The young men and women seem lost in their designer clothes, dwarfed and dehumanised by their possessions, as if ownership has gone into reverse. A girl's head barely emerges from the haul of Chanel, Dior and Hermes shopping bags she has piled on her vast bed. It's captioned "shoppy shoppy" and "#goldrush", but a photograph whose purpose is to illustrate plenty seems instead to depict a void. She's alone with her bags and her image in the mirror, in a scene that seems saturated with despair."

Evidential Spirituality -

https://thesearchforlifeafterdeath.com/2016/12/27/evidential-spirituality-how-to-build-spiritual-beliefs-from-life-after-death-research/

"Evidential Spirituality: How to Build Spiritual Beliefs from Life After Death Research
The Difference Between Faith-Based and Evidence-Based Spirituality

For those of us who are not part of an organized religion but have a strong interest in the research and evidence for life after death, how do we define ourselves when asked about what we believe?

For some, the answer might be agnostic, new-age, or spiritual.  For me, spiritual came closest to the truth, though most people equate a person’s identification as ‘spiritual’ with being undecided; believing in a vague and undefined higher power, but going no further in refining one’s beliefs. The term spiritual seemed to insinuate that although I had some belief in a higher power, I haven’t given the subject much thought, much less defined the finer points of astral mechanics.  The accepted definition of spirituality is strongly associated with faith and many people who use a faith-based path to spirituality rely on personal and emotional beliefs about their  philosophy of life and death as a foundation.  Faith based spirituality is a perfectly acceptable path, one that can be extremely rewarding and intensely personal.  In many cases, spirituality is also defined through personal development, with keywords of self-awareness, meditation, peace, connection and other types of self-improvement techniques.

Many people don’t realize that spirituality can also be obtained through a different path; one that relies on evidence, logic, skepticism, science and research.  What results is a spirituality that is distinctly different from one based on faith or personal development, and it is that distinction that I believe deserves to be defined."
