The Story of Transpersonal Psychology Science of the Soul -

Published on 13 Nov 2013

The definitive documentary history of the Transpersonal Psychology movement. Includes interviews with many of the field's luminaries such as co-founder of the field, Stanislav Grof, as well as Charles T. Tart, Frances Vaughan, James Fadiman, Miles Vich and many others.

Various psychiatric drug treatments since 1990. Prozac & Stelazine in 1994 for a few years. 1200mg Amisulpride in 1998 for a year. 1999 to current time have maintained 200mg of Amisulpride & increased to 300mg a few years ago, with 2 stopping attempts in 2001 & 2003/4. i stopped all medications 5 times, for around 8 years in total, but the last 3 withdrawal/stopping attempts were disastrous. Am very unsure about stopping medication again. Have recently (in Winter 2018) had to increase the Amisulpride to 400mg.

The Cosmic Game

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNT6CTW0G78

http://www.sunypress.edu/p-2822-the-cosmic-game.aspx

Summary

"In this, his culminating work, the leading international figure in consciousness research masterfully synthesizes his vast findings, drawing not only upon psychedelic therapy and Holotropic Breathwork, but also from literature, cross-cultural studies, ancient mystical sources and psychological data, resulting in a profound consolidation and articulation of what is now known about nonordinary states of consciousness.
The Cosmic Game discusses the broadest philosophical, metaphysical and spiritual insights gleaned in Grof's research concerning human nature and reality, addressing the most fundamental questions human beings have asked about the nature of existence since time immemorial.

Insights from research into nonordinary states of consciousness portray existence as an astonishing play of the cosmic creative principle that transcends time, space, linear causality, and polarities of every kind and suggest an identity of the individual psyche in its furthest reaches with the universal creative principle and the totality of existence. This identity of the human being with the Divine is the ultimate secret that lies at the core of all great spiritual traditions."

When Eichmann in JerusalemHannah Arendt’s book about Nazi officer Adolf Eichmann’s trialcame out in 1963, it contributed one of the most famous of post-war ideas to the discourse, the “banality of evil.” And the concept at first caused a critical furor. “Enormous controversy centered on what Arendt had written about the conduct of the trial, her depiction of Eichmann, and her discussion of the role of the Jewish Councils,” writes Michael Ezra at Dissent magazine “Eichmann, she claimed, was not a ‘monster’; instead, she suspected, he was a ‘clown.’”

Arendt blamed victims who were forced to collaborate, critics charged, and made the Nazi officer seem ordinary and unremarkable, relieving him of the extreme moral weight of his responsibility. She answered these charges in an essay titled “Personal Responsibility Under Dictatorship,” published in 1964. Here, she aims to clarify the question in her title by arguing that if Eichmann were allowed to represent a monstrous and inhuman system, rather than shockingly ordinary human beings, his conviction would make him a scapegoat and let others off the hook. Instead, she believes that everyone who worked for the regime, whatever their motives, is complicit and morally culpable.

“Make no mistake. The greatest destroyer of ecology. The greatest source of waste, depletion and pollution. The greatest purveyor of violence, war, crime, poverty, animal abuse and inhumanity. The greatest generator of personal and social neurosis, mental disorders, depression, anxiety. Not to mention the greatest source of social paralysis, stopping us from moving into new methodologies for personal health, global sustainability and progress on this planet, is not some corrupt government or legislation.

Not some rogue corporation or banking cartel. Not some flaw of human nature and not some secret cabal that controls the world.
It is the socioeconomic system itself at its very foundation.”

Killing Schizophrenics -

A lot of truth in this article -

https://www.madinamerica.com/2017/02/killing-schizophrenics-nazi-psychiatry/

http://www.counterpunch.org/2017/02/01/killing-schizophrenics-contemporary-u-s-psychiatry-versus-nazi-psychiatry/

"In any society that prioritizes economic efficiency, productivity and order above life and all of life’s varieties, people experiencing altered and extreme emotional states will be seen as defective and as burdens—monkey wrenches that disturb the societal assembly line.

To be clear, contemporary American society is not Nazi-German society when it comes to treating people labeled with “serious mental illness,” as it is taboo in American society to directly murder this population as was done in Nazi Germany. But in the United States in the earlier part of the twentieth century, there was widespread compulsory sterilization of those diagnosed with serious mental illness; and from the 1970s through the early 1990s, dehumanizing experiments that ignored the Nuremberg Code of research ethics were administered on this population by prominent American psychiatrists. And today in contemporary American society, apparently it is acceptable for this population to die, on average, 25 years prematurely without challenging the authorities in charge of treating them. More later on psychiatry’s blame for this premature death rate."

Prepare for the worst: this inequality rift will tear our society apart

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/feb/03/prepare-inequality-rift-tear-society-apart-thatcher

The biggest rise in inequality since Thatcher is on its way, bringing economic instability, poverty, poor health, increased violence and fear among neighbours

"Homelessness and child poverty have risen, the NHS is in dire financial straits, understaffed prisons have record suicide rates, the elderly lack social care – yet the rich continue to get richer, and continue to avoid taxes. This is an expression of abject moral bankruptcy.

But, if the Resolution Foundation’s forecast is right, this is just a prelude to the biggest rise in inequality since that seen under Margaret Thatcher in the 1980s. And with more inequality there will be a growing need for services of every kind – including more prisons and police. An increasing body of scientific evidence has shown that almost all of the problems related to lower social status get worse when inequality escalates. That goes for poor health and child wellbeing, for violence, school bullying and lower maths and literacy scores."

The myth of schizophrenia as a progressive brain disease.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23172002

Abstract

"Schizophrenia has historically been considered to be a deteriorating disease, a view reinforced by recent MRI findings of progressive brain tissue loss over the early years of illness. On the other hand, the notion that recovery from schizophrenia is possible is increasingly embraced by consumer and family groups. This review critically examines the evidence from longitudinal studies of (1) clinical outcomes, (2) MRI brain volumes, and (3) cognitive functioning."

This study says that Schizophrenia is NOT a progressive brain disease.

They say:
1) 25% of people DON'T recover or get better but most of them don't go down hill like people with brain diseases do.
(this means 75% DO recover or get better)
2) There are some measurable changes that can be seen with a MRI when people first have psychosis but that doesn't really mean anything about "brain disease".
3) People's brains sometimes shrink a bit but medication, substance abuse and other secondary factors would account for this.
4) People with "schizophrenia" do have trouble with thinking sometimes, it doesn't seem to get worse which would expect with a "progressive brain disease".
5) Most people get better for most of the time
6) Some of the people who don't get better might not be getting much help , they might have other problems as well and they might be really poor.

If you look to the right, there are other similar articles and studies

Understanding Extreme States: An Interview with Lloyd Ross -

https://www.madinamerica.com/2017/02/understanding-extreme-states-lloyd-ross/

"In this interview, Lloyd Ross of ISEPP and I discuss how to help people experiencing delusions, hallucinations, paranoia, and other problems commonly associated with a diagnosis of “schizophrenia.” We discuss the problems with the biological model of “mental illness” as contrasted with a more psychosocial, contextual model of distress.

As Lloyd says, “What kind of hope do you have if someone tells you you have a brain disease called schizophrenia, and we can only give you this drug that can hold it down but can’t cure it? What kind of hope is that?”

There are better, more hopeful ideas available for supporting people experiencing extreme states, and in this interview we go in search of them."

OK. Personally am in favour of No religion. i like Theosophy, Universalism, Omnism, the Perennial Philosophy etc, as it tries more to unify the thread of truth within all religions & spiritual systems, & synthesise spirituality, philosophy & science. As for the Zeitgeist Films, i thought it was far more about the need for a systemic change to a resource based economy & end to the current socio-economic, political & exoteric religious systems? As for Jesus i'm Not sure that he did exist anyway, & certainly Not as the Bible said he did. Does it really matter?

Soteria Shelter Program in Hungary: Crisis as Danger and Opportunity

Soteria Shelter Program in Hungary: Crisis as Danger and Opportunity

Our project deals with one of humanity’s most ancient but ongoing social problems: treatment. We believe, as R. D. Laing said, “Treatment is how we treat each other.” The innovative nature of this program lies in never giving up the idea that life might be better if we treat each other in a better way.

The goal of the Soteria Shelter Program is to sustain a temporary home where people experiencing extreme states can live undisturbed, with the potential to go through their crisis without medication. Our program is unique in Hungary as it is neither a hospital, nor a medical institution, but a loving and friendly home. We aim to offer an alternative to the state psychiatric care system, providing physical and emotional shelter for those who are struggling with existential crisis.

Integrative Mental Health: 27 Non-drug Options that Work

https://www.madinamerica.com/2017/02/integrative-mental-health-27-non-drug-options-that-work/

"Research Says: Non-drug Options Work

After examining over 4000 studies, and hundreds of meta-analyses, I surfaced from my research and was hit with a startling “Aha” moment: non-drug approaches really work.

They generally offer significant symptom reduction, and in some cases, full remission. They have a side effect profile that is dramatically better than drugs: usually none, or quite mild.1 Unlike drugs, many non-drug approaches target known causes and influencers of mental health issues, not just symptoms. And these approaches help people achieve sustainable wellness.

Non-drug approaches, however, are no panacea. Some approaches work better than others. Some have very strong evidence, others suggestive. Some people don’t get any benefit from certain techniques, while others find them life-altering. Such is the nature of our individuality.

But non-drug approaches are also no fad. They are validated by disciplined peer-reviewed studies. They’re also more than theory. A growing number of practitioners embrace and heal with Integrative Mental Health — a discipline that uses the best of conventional psychiatry and non-drug options."

The Reason for Suffering by Silver Birch

http://whitecrowbooks.com/books/feature/the_reason_for_suffering_by_silver_birch/

All suffering automatically brings its own reward because it touches the soul and, in doing so, gives it a greater awareness of the higher, deeper and more profound aspects of the universe.” He told the circle on one occasion: “Your world does not understand the function of pain and suffering and difficulty and hardship, but all these play an important part in the evolution of the human spirit. Look back in your own lives and see that often the greatest crises, the most difficult problems, the darkest hours, were the stepping-stones that led to greater understanding

The New World Order Manifesto -

http://www.wakingtimes.com/2017/02/08/new-world-order-manifesto/

Sylvain Lamoureux, Contributor
Waking Times

"As we have control of everything in the world: economics, agriculture, production, transportation, media, education, governments, alimentation, health-care, technology, water, land, sea, air, space, legal system (national and international) and we have reached a certain pinnacle of technology. It has become necessary to take steps to ensure our survival in this realm; this means we must eliminate the imminent threat and cull our herd at the same time.

This accelerated program comes as a galactic awakening is happening which must be suppressed in order for us to continue our rule in this realm; this has awakened energies which we have long thought eradicated.

With the advent of the Internet some people have voraciously absorbed information which once was secret or limited by factors which are no longer viable due to technology. Thankfully many layers of our PR defenses have been actively working to counteract whatever damage has been done with the leaks of information over the years. A strategy of confusion has been active for many years now, saturating the Internet with useless but convincing information for people to follow.

Below is a summary of the steps taken and needed in order to achieve our goal and rule for centuries to come. This awakening must not be allowed to happen and the vibration level of the people must be kept as low as possible for the next 20 years. If necessary, all out war is an option of last resort.

To do so we have chosen and have been working on the following methodologies:"

The Jungian Model of the Psyche -

http://journalpsyche.org/jungian-model-psyche/

"Few people have had as much influence on modern psychology as Carl Jung; we have Jung to thank for concepts like extroversion and introversion, archetypes, modern dream analysis, and the collective unconscious. Psychological terms coined by Jung include the archetype, the complex, synchronicity, and it is from his work that the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) was developed, a popular staple of personality tests today.

Among Jung’s most important work was his in-depth analysis of the psyche, which he explained as follows: “By psyche I understand the totality of all psychic processes, conscious as well as unconscious,” separating the concept from conventional concept of the mind, which is generally limited to the processes of the conscious brain alone.

Jung believed that the psyche is a self-regulating system, rather like the body, one that seeks to maintain a balance between opposing qualities while constantly striving for growth, a process Jung called “individuation”."

Aikido Martial Arts Master Teaches The Art Of Peace

http://www.thewayofmeditation.com.au/blog/aikido-master-teaches-art-peace/

"Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969) was history’s greatest martial artist. Even as an old man of eighty, Morihei could disarm any enemy, take down any number of attackers and pin an opponent with one finger. Although invincible as a warrior, Morihei was above all a man of peace who detested fighting, war and any kind of violence. His Way was Aikido which can be translated as “The Art Of Peace.”

“The world will continue to change dramatically but fighting and war can utterly destroy us. What we need now are techniques of harmony, not those of competition. The art of peace is required, not the art of war.”"

Madness and Wisdom

Might madness be a strange form of wisdom?
43 min

"Madness is understood as the opposite of reason. Yet as Van Gogh and Nietzsche attest, madness can also be an inexplicable source of insight. Might madness be a strange form of wisdom rather than its diseased opposite? Or is this to make light of a condition that requires treatment?

CEP members publish new book: ‘The Sedated Society’

http://cepuk.org/2017/02/17/cep-members-publish-new-book-sedated-society/

"CEP is pleased to announce the publication of a new book called ‘The Sedated Society: The Causes and Harms of our Psychiatric Prescribing Epidemic’ (Palgrave Macmillan 2017).  Edited by CEP co-founder Dr James Davies, the book contains chapter contributions from a team of global experts, including Joanna Moncrieff, Peter Kinderman, Peter Breggin, Sami Timimi, Peter Gøtzsche and Robert Whitaker.

Over 15% of the UK and 20% of the US adult population takes a psychiatric medication on any given day, and the numbers are only set to increase. When these figures are set against data exposing the poor outcomes and harms these medications often cause, it becomes apparent that their commercial success is not due to their therapeutic efficacy.

The book reveals how pharmaceutical sponsorship and marketing, diagnostic inflation, the manipulation and burying of negative clinical trials, lax medication regulation, and neoliberal public health policies have all been implicated in ever-rising psychopharmaceutical consumption. As increasing sedation of society may be leading to a more disabled society, this book closes by calling for total reform."

The Dalai Lama Calls For A United Humanity -

http://www.thewayofmeditation.com.au/blog/dalai-lama-calls-united-humanity/

http://www.un.org/en/universal-declaration-human-rights/index.html

“We need a systematic approach to foster humanistic values, of oneness and harmony. If we start doing it now, there is hope that this century will be different from the previous one. It is in everybody’s interest. So let us work for peace within our families and society, and not expect help from God, Buddha or the governments.”

“All the world’s major religions, with their emphasis on love, compassion, patience, tolerance, and forgiveness can and do promote inner values. But the reality of the world today is that grounding ethics in religion is no longer adequate. This is why I am increasingly convinced that the time has come to find a way of thinking about spirituality and ethics beyond religion altogether.”

Spiritual Naturalism -

http://spiritualnaturalistsociety.org/about-us/what-is-spiritual-naturalism/

"Spiritual Naturalism (also called religious naturalism) is a worldview, value system, and personal life practice. The term appeared by at least 1895, but as a concept it has been around for thousands of years. A religion to some, philosophy to others, Spiritual Naturalism sees the universe as one natural and sacred whole – as is the rationality and the science through which nature is revealed. It advocates principles and practices that have compassion as their foundation, and it finds wisdom and inspiration in innumerable rich traditions and ethical philosophies from around the world."

Finnish Medical Journal Rejects Paper on Suicide Risk

https://www.madinamerica.com/2017/02/editorial-misconduct-finnish-medical-journal-rejects-paper-suicide-risk/

On 16 November, I published a paper on Mad in America that explained that our two systematic reviews from October and November 2016 showed that antidepressants increase the risk of suicide and violence at all ages, and not only in children and adolescents. The paper also noted that psychotherapy decreases the suicide risk and that the clinical benefit of antidepressants is doubtful. I concluded that antidepressants shouldn’t be used at all and that people with depression should get psychotherapy and psychosocial support, not drugs.

The End Game

"Yet only those souls that can awaken within the game and attain higher levels of consciousness will “graduate” to the next level — a new and transformed version of Earth. All others will essentially have to take the same “class” over again — e.g., play the same level of the game again but somewhere else. This is by no means a punishment; all souls simply go to experiences appropriate to their level of progression.

Another thing that makes this iteration of the Earth game so unique and exciting is that we are attempting to jump from the deepest levels of Duality consciousness directly to Unity consciousness. The process of evolving from Duality to Unity Consciousness has played out on many worlds, but it is typically a gradual process that unfolds over a long period and many generations. Ours is the first planetary civilization in which we are attempting to do this process within one generation. This has never been done before and our planet and this space/time nexus is the test case. If it succeeds, we may use this as the standard approach to all spiritual evolution at this level!"

"Goodness is intelligence. Intelligence is goodness. The more
you are truly virtuous in a spiritual way, the more intelligent
you are in a spiritual way. Intelligence and goodness go together.
They're like two oars that you're rowing the boat of your life
with, so that you can sense and see the harbor and row toward it.
You are in conscious command, conscious command of where you're
going which is toward the true harbor.

Otherwise, and you consider this now, be very reflective inwardly,
otherwise, if you don't have the two oars of goodness and intel-
ligence, the boat is going to be taken over. You don't have charge
of it; someone else will have charge of it. And what will have
command of your life will be the underground currents.

I'm talking about the subconscious parts of you. They don't care
where they take you. The currents themselves have no intelligence
and goodness, psychologically speaking. They'll take and send
adrift anyone who is not guided by being above the currents, by
being a good person, a nice person, a decent person, an intel-
ligent person. Now already you have a lot to think about."
