I'm in the middle of abilify withdrawal. I reduced too quickly and had to reinstate. I'm down to 1.0 Mgs. (Started at 2.0 Mgs). The withdrawals have been awful......headaches, cold sweats, anxiety, sick feeling. Hope this passes soon. I plan to reduce much slower next time with greater hold periods.

I was on abilify and doxepin for 2 yrs to help with gabapentin withdrawal. I successfully got off both GP and doxepin with help from Rhi, Alto, and others. Now, I'm stuck on abilify. My starting dose was 2.0 mg. I tapered too fast and am now in withdrawal hell. (2...1.5....1.0....0.5....off). I'm now trying to stabilize at 1.0 ml

4/20/16. 1.0 ml abilify

I was taking Haloperidol  in 1992 for about 1.5 month. Risperidone and Chlorprotixen, then Quetiapine, then Saphris in 2013-2014. Both times I successfully stopped antipsychotics. I have seen other people here who also successfully quitted and recovered.

How did you get off Saphris. I am starting my withdrawal and would like to know how you found success.

Zoloft, started and stopped with no problem.

Paxil made me very uncomfortable within the first few days and I discontinued immediately with no ill effects.

Lexapro - I've been on it before and stopped with no problems but I plan to stay on it now as it very clearly helps my depression and anxiety, it was like a light switch when I started taking it again, like a blanket lifted off my brain. The only thing I don't like is the sexual side effects, but at 10mg it's low enough that, before the saphris effect, I had perfectly acceptable sexual function. It's the saphris that really killed me in bed.

Effexor XR - Stopped with no problems

Clomipramine - Made me uncomfortable within the first few days, stopped immediately with no problems

Abilify - Made me unconfortable within the first few days, stopped immediately with no problems.

Current mix:

Wellbutrin 300mg

Lexapro: 10mg

Saphris 5mg as of May 8

How did you get off Saphris. I am starting my withdrawal and would like to know how you found success.

Actually I don’t have any tip for Saphris withdrawal. I simply divided my pill in few parts (it was a problem, because the pill is too soft) and then I was removing 1 part every week till 0. I can’t say that I had any serious problem during my taper (if to compare with other antipsychotics it was nothing). But still I am afraid I tapered too fast. Probably that’s why I had problems later – delayed withdrawal symptoms. I can’t say exactly it happened due to Saphris, because after that I was tapering Prozak and other drugs too.

1992 - Antidepressants, Antipsychotics and benzodiazepines in hospital for about 1,5 month, with PTSD diagnosed. Then I abruptly stopped taking pills. W/d for few months and then no symptoms for many years.

2013 – Doctor prescribes Paxil, Amitriptyline, Risperidone due to insomnia, anxiety and weight loss. Then it starts a long story about changing diagnosis and adding/changing meds. I started to taper in December 2014. Severe withdrawal symptoms for  4 months. Then the 1st window.

April 2015 – meds free. June, July – the first big window which lasted until mid-October. Then a wave again, but this time with new strange symptoms I’ve never had before.

Following this thread. I'm still tapering my seroquel. Feeling very sick.

Hi Lanah, I am tapering seroquel also, down to 25mg.

I dont know whether to cut again, or hold. The worst is the morning dread/fear/anxiety. And of course the lack of ANY motivation, or joy at doing anything.
Even thinking of doing the dishes gives me a panic attack. How absurd.

1992 Dothiepin 375mg 8 weeks, exhaustion/depression.  Serotonin syndrome, oh yes!  seizures . Fell pregnant, 3rd baby, Nitrous Oxide, 3 weeks mental hospital pp psychosis. zoloft tegretol.

Feb 1996 ct tegretol, tapered Zoloft 8 weeks. as (unexpectedly)  pregnant. Steven died after 3 days.(Zolft HLHS baby).  98 had run in with Paxil, 2 tablets, 3 weeks taper, survived.
2005..menopause? exhausted again. Zyprexa, mad in three days, fallout....  Seroquel, Effexor, tegretol,   and 8 years of self destruction. Failed taper.
Damn 1/4 valium... nuts again! .fallout, zoloft 100mg  seroquol 400mg mirtazapine 45 mg  tegretol 400mg.  Mid 14 3 month taper. Nov 14 CRASH.
Mid 15 ....   75mg  seroquel,  3 x 1800mg SJW  2 week window end of December followed by 6 week wave
5/2 68mg seroquel, 2.5 x 1800mg SJW::::20/2 61mg seroquel, 2.5 x  SJW::: 26/2 54mg seroquel, 2 x SJW::::21/3 43mg seroquel, 1 x 2700SJW :::: 23/4 36mg seroquel 1 x 1800 SJW
15/5 33mg seroquel, 1 x SJW::::   28/5 30mg seroquel, 1 x SJW::::;  18/6 25mg seroquel 1/2 SJW::::, 11/7 21mg seroquel 1/2 SJW::, 26/7 18mg seroquel 1/2 SJW:::, 9/8 12mg seroquel :::, 16/8 6mg seroquel ;;;;, 12/9 0 jump.

23/9  3mg.....,  27/9 0mg.  Reinstated, 6mg, then 12mg.............  LIGHTBULB MOMENT,  I have  MTHFR 2x mutations.  CFS and issues with MOULD in my home. So I left home, and working 150km away during week, loving it.

Oh was hard, panic attacks first week, gone now, along with the mould issues.

i'm freaking worried about movement disorders related to ap, i took 2 weeks of zyprexa last year, at rehab took a month and a half of abilify , and seroquel

the seroquel is the only i'm still taking, i'm at 25 mgs, and never went to more than 100mgs, do you think i can still develop TD?? it's really freaking me out since i heard that this can be permanent! anybody ever expirienced TD and recovered?

(i'm brazlian so please, ignore spelling mistakes) 2015 the beggining of the year started with effexor xr 37,5

went up to 300mgs

in october of 2015 quitted COLD TURKEY/took olanzapine 5mgs for 2 weeks around november/ reinstated effexor in january of 2016

in march of 2016 was at 300mg again

in may tappered effexor xr and added trazodone 150mgs, seroquel 50mgs and abilify 10 mgs/in july cold turkey from abilify (no big deal)

in september tried reducing trazadone to 50mg

after 2 weeks went back to 150mgs of trazadone and 50 mgs of seroquel and added 2 mgs of klonopin to use WHEN NEEDEED

currently taking 150mgs of trazadone and 50 mgs of seroquel at night

I am also trying "again" to taper off Seroquel and having a very hard time due to the insomnia. I've tried a few other times over the past year but my doctor at the time had me do it too fast and I ended up going back to the original dosage of 100 mg. My new doctor is tapering me very slowly. 1st week go down to 75 mgs one night, 2nd week go down to 75 mgs twice until I have reached the 7th week and am taking 75 mgs every night, which I am in the seventh week right now.

I read on here that someone got back on an antidepressant, Lexapro while tapering off Seroquel. I was on Lexapro for about 3 years and stopped it Dec. 2014. Should I get back on it, would it possible help me sleep and depressed mood and would it be easier to get off it than it is to get off Seroquel?

Originally on Lexapro 10 mg (Stopped in Dec. 2014)

Seroquel 100 mg (Still on this one, down to 75 mg)

Klonopin 1 mg (Stopped this one May 2015)

Currently on Seroquel 75 mg (Was on 100 mg for about 5 year's now on 75 mg twice a night bc I wake up and can not go back to sleep)

Flurazepam 15 mg (Been on this a few months)

Xanax .5 mg (Been on this a few months twice a night bc I wake up and can not go back to sleep)

Prazosin 2 mg (Been on this about 6 months)

I am a letter carrier for the USPS, 21 year's with them and I have been out of work since Jan. of this year. I feel like I've been through pure torturous hell trying to get off the Seroquel. My sleep is beyond horrible, I'm naucious, no appetite, no energy, feel like I'm running a fever but am not and can barely function during the day. Should I just push through with this newest slow taper and if so is there anything I can do to possibly regain some sleep?

Also are there any ligit detox place you can go to, to get off all this garbage at once? Once your off say the Seroquel how long (average) before your brain resets it's own sleep pattern?

Thank you,

Missy

Sorry Missy you are going through a tough time. During my worst periods I used a benadryl or half a benadryl with 1mg of melatonin for sleep sporadically. I don't know it they are contraindicated with your other medications but I hope someone can offer some insight on that. Wish you speedy healing and obviously the lower your cuts the better it will feel.
<p>10 years of ssri and finally tapered off in 2 years. Off Celexa by jan/28/2014 and off benzos by March/6th/2014 after only two months use and still experiencing withdrawal symptoms.

I'm a couple of months on from a prescription giving to me for ZYPREXA from my pharmaceutical representative (doctor).
I was extremely disstresd that day having to leave work after months of trying to cope with terrible symptoms,I was basically the closest I've ever been to a breakdown ,by this stage I'm very clued in to the system and I have never taken the drugs .
It's been a tough time but I'm personally proud of myself I've found a different way but that only happened because I'm not listening to these doctors anymore .
I also have a referral letter to a hospital and Ive kept it to look at it every so often to keep me on the correct path.
I totally respect anyone that has been in hospital .My point is these doctors are out of control with over prescribing and the strength is in us to pull through it

21/06/2012 citrol10mg for stress, constant urination ,diazepam 2mg 26/07/2012 .12/07/2012 citroll 20mg,

24/09/2013 Lexapro 20mg.didnt take them for a week during this year felt extremely strange ,had no idea down to drugs at the time .

20/10/2014 venlafaxine xl 75mg.09/01/2015 venlafaxine xl 37.5. questioned doctor about drop in dose ,I was told no problem.

13/04/2015 venlafaxine xl 150mg NEVER TOOK THEM getting wise?.20/04/2015 venlafaxine xl 75mg.19/08/2015 Xanax 250mcg [agitated]

10/06/2015 venlafaxine 37.5mg.02/03/2016 five beads out for taper only lasted till 06/06/2016 extreme irritability and anxiety.

11/11/2016 Xanax 250mcg took them for few days ,fairly distressing time [working nearly impossible].11/11/2016 I was given a prescription for  Zyprexa 2.5mg AND DECIDED  NOT TO GET IT FROM CHEMIST.[my doctor gave them a great sales pitch ,talking about other patients that have benefited ,in witch it just annoyed me ]

I believe I have done it,  yep went back onto half a 25mg seroquel .................          to get me over a hurdle.

Am now working, loving life again, and I will halve the half a tablet, or just wait till have I have annual leave to do it, I am not stressed about going back on the 12.5mg.

The amount of meds I was on, that damn made me unemployable, and ridiculously spendthrift, and all the rest  :( I think I am a success story.           Early days yet, two weeks at new job, hour and a half from bad memories, is very refreshing.

Son still living where my old life was, so I commute on the weekends.              Was terrified, last week, first week, loving it this week.               3 months till permanency.

Yes you can do it, it is walking through hell every day, oh, but how I feel about life now, is fantastic, I feel ""normal"" again.
