Hello. I have been on klonopin for 20 years. I am doing the daily liquid micro taper and have reduced from 2.5mg daily to 1.6mg . I was in tolerance for a longtime before I knew what was happening to me. I'm really suffering mentally and physically and need some advice. I didn't expect this to be easy but I see other people have been able to do this and still function. I am to sick to work and basically do nothing but lay in bed. I get short periods where thing start to feel better but they don't last long and are followed by an increase of symptoms. Can someone respond to me? I hope I posted this in the right place. Thank You

on klonopin 1.5 mg since 1997, drank a lot to help with anxiety. I think tolerance problems started 2012.

2014-2016 did valium crossover and taper from 40mg to 20mg became very sick, anxiety, panic, depression, extreme weightloss

9/2016 put back on klonopin 2mg then upped to 2.5mg.

10/2016 put on 10mg prozac for two weeks. stopped felt terrible

1/2017 started daily liquid taper off klonopin tapered down from 2.5mg to 1.6mg from 1/2017-5/2017

2/2017 tried buspar low dose for a few weeks. Felt bad.

6/2017 overdosed on high amount of klonopin. Had been awake for 11 days and very sick from taper.

6/2017 tapered from 1.6mg to 1.5mg in hospital.

Holding at 1.5mg. Hoping to feel better before tapering

No caffeine, supplements, nicotine, quit drinking 2014

Hello FreeWilly and welcome to Surviving Antidepressants.

As the name says, we specialise in tapering antidepressants but we also provide assistance in coming off of benzos in a specialised section here called member-only benzo forum: http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/forum/29-members-only-benzo-forum/

Can you start a thread there with this same info? I'm tapering both an antidepressant and a benzo and have to go very very slow to keep my symptoms manageable. I have had great experience with long holds. I'm not a fan of daily cuts because withdrawal symptoms are always delayed and if I cut daily I would quickly lose control of my taper. I believe you will get all the assistance you need in the benzo section.

As you can see, we all have a short summary in our signature so that every time we post people have all the information for giving advice. Here is the explanation how to do it: http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/topic/12364-please-put-your-withdrawal-history-in-your-signature/

Once again welcome.

Hi. I'm new here and need some help with understanding halflife of klonopin and when a reduction of dose should kickin. I have been on klonopin for 20 years and about five years ago started having problems with tolerance. I tried a valium crossover and taper but failed because of bad advice from other sites and doctors. I switched back from valium to klonopin in September 2016 and started a daily liquid micro taper in January 2017. I tapered from 2.5mg to 1.6mg then three weeks ago overdosed. I took alot of klonopin and was hospitalized but I did not get sick. I actually felt better for about a week but since then everything has gone downhill. I also was tapered down to 1.5mg from 1.6mg. I'm taking .5mg three times a day. Every eight hours. Can someone let me now if my overdose is still kicking in or if this horror I'm experiencing is just from my drop in dosage and what should I do. It's been three weeks since the overdose and the reduction from 1.6mg to 1.5mg. Any help on halflife and my situation would be appreciated. Thank You

Hi FreeWilly,

I moved the new introduction topic you started into your original one. Only one intro topic per member here in the general section. I see that you have also started a topic for yourself in our Benzo forum, as Bubble suggested. Thank you for doing this. Please wait patiently for someone from our benzo forum to respond to your questions. The mods in that forum have more benzo experience and are more likely to be able to help you.

I'm not a doctor.  My comments are not medical advise. These are my opinions based on my own experience and what I've learned. Please discuss your situation with a medical practitioner who has knowledge of tapering and withdrawal...if you are lucky enough to find one.

My Introduction Thread

Full Drug and Withdrawal History

Brief Summary

Several SSRIs for 13 years starting 1997 (for mild to moderate partly situational anxiety) Xanax PRN ~ Various other drugs over the years for side effects

2 month 'taper' off Lexapro 2010

Short acute withdrawal, followed by 2 -3 months of improvement then delayed protracted withdrawal

DX ADHD followed by several years of stimulants and other drugs trying to manage increasing symptoms

Failed reinstatement of Lexapro and trial of Prozac (became suicidal)

May 2013 Found SA, learned about withdrawal, stopped taking drugs...healing begins.

Protracted withdrawal, with a very sensitized nervous system, slowly recovering as time passes

Supplements which have helped: Vitamin C, Magnesium, Taurine

Bad reactions: Many supplements but mostly fish oil and Vitamin D

June 2016 - Started daily juicing, mostly vegetables and lots of greens.

Aug 2016 - Oct 2016 Best window ever, felt almost completely recovered

Oct 2016 -Symptoms returned - bad days and less bad days.

April 2018 - No windows, but significant improvement, it feels like permanent full recovery is close.
