miT: Reinstating paxil

Recommended Posts

I have a question. I reinstated paxil months after a CT stop (see signature). It cured my tremor and I felt less anxious immediately like if I had taken a clozan (tranquilizer). Now, however, I have many waves of anxiety throughout. Is this proof that it’s not working or just part of the tapering process? I guess I don’t know what I’m supposed too feel. Why taking these pills and still being anxious?

Took my first SSRI sipralexa/lexapro/escitalopram in 2007 for depression. In 2010 the doctor switched me to paroxetine/seroxat/paxil for anxiety.

My paroxetine story from then on:

2010-15 from 10mg up to 20mg

jan 2016 30mg

may 2016 0mg cold turkey (don't!)

dec 2016 symptoms: anxiety, tremor (could barely stand)

jan 2017 reinstated at 7.5mg to taper in steps of 10%

...

Dose changes from may 2017 to now:

5.0/4.7/4.4/4.0/3.7/3.5/3.3/3.1mg

That's really nice :)

You remind me a bit of me when I first landed here: I soon realized that I can get answers (even to questions I didn't know I had) just by reading other people's experiences and what mods wrote to them. And I couldn't help offering comforting help to others. I felt I was helping myself in this way.

I see your taper seems to be nothing to write home about which is always a good sign. And I'm happy to see you are taking this cautious approach of less than 10 %. 3 month hold after reinstatement is also decent so I hope things stay uneventful. You are already taking so much less than 2 years ago so speed doesn't really matter.

See you around :)
