Carbohydrates

One of the quite common triggers for the symptoms seem to be carbs. Haven't I experienced it, I truly would find it difficult to believe. Yet, the pattern always repeats itself - each and every time I go overboard with those, the symptoms get much worse. Cutting down on bread, pasta, sweets, potatoes is a must for me.

Looking at it from a statistical point of view, how many of you have noticed the correlation between the carbs intake and the worsening of the waves?

Hi Neuro... I wish I had problems with carbs. I crave them and have to watch myself much more than I actually do. Food is very comforting... especially sweets.

Darn, once I'm past it 100%, I'm going to buy myself a sweet shop, or better still, a Chocolate Factory.

Hi Neuro,

I feel I definitely need to cut back significantly as I think it would help my brain fog and also perhaps, with the problem of falling asleep to early which interferes with sleep.

Not to sound like I am making excuses but next week, I am going out of town so it probably is better if I wait to return to get serious about this.

How many grams of carbs do you consume per day and when you do consume them? It is good you are noticing the pattern regarding how it affects you.

Hey, Cs. I don't count carbs in any mathematical form. It's more a matter of reaching "consensus with myself" what is "too much" on a given day. More like an intuitive thing (though still learnt over the course of months and years). What may be worth trying, would be to simply start cutting on them and monitor the changes in your mood and symptoms.

As for the time of the day, what I learnt is that the most important thing is not to exceed certain amount of carbs at the end of the day. So, if I let myself eat some more of those earlier on, in the evening they're a big no-no. You may try, though, "going more even" on them throughout the day. Good luck!

Thanks NP.

I will do some experimenting before I go out of town to see what seems to work best. Even if I can't stick to low carbing, at least I will have some idea as to what may work the best.

Does anyone crave milk, condense milk, or sweetened condensed milk?  I have cravings for these and wonder why?

November 2018 - I decided to start a very slow taper. The initial dose was 300 mg

2022- As of March 17, at 22-mg Bupropion.
