anasong: Tapering off lexapro

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to say this is a great idea for a forum. I have been on Lexapro for 10 years and my doc bumped it up to 40 mg about a year ago. Well, I moved to another state to be with husband who is in the military and am in the process of tapering off. I am at 30 mg now and haven't experienced much side effects except occasional dizziness but now I'm getting more teary and feel unhappy with life. I have had anxiety since I was 14 and more recently was diagnosed with Pure O, which is a form of OCD with no compulsions, just obsessive thoughts and anxieties. Just want to know what are some good coping techniques.

Thank you!

Erin

Hello, anasong, welcome to our community.

I moved your first post here as your Introduction. This is your topic to track your progress.

40mg Lexapro is a very high dosage of Lexapro. How long have you been at 30mg?

Hi there,

welcome! I am glad you found us and hope that we may help you.

Boy that pure O sounds like me! I totally have those issues and my originally diagnoses was OCD. So i totally understand where you are coming from. I was on AD for nearly 8 years and have been off for almost five months. Hopefully I can hang in there and make a full recovery. I am sure you will be able to come off as long as you plan well and check out all the tips there are here. It may or may not be a long hard journey, but either way I a sure you can do it and we are all here to support you.
