For the next couple of months, I will be changing this site all the time. You will see changes in layout, colors, maybe even functionality, hopefully for the better. Please bear with me. (Post suggestions for changes in this topic http://survivinganti...1078#entry1078.)

Eventually, as it grows, this site probably will move to a new host server, one that can handle more traffic faster at less cost. The more posts there are on this site, the higher it will show up on Google and the more new people will visit.

Please feel welcome, stretch out, and express yourself.

Your friendly administrator,

Surviving

Thank-you SO MUCH for this forum!

Hi,

Just one question.

How do I edit  posts now?

5 yrs on Escitalopram 10mg, 2 week taper resulting in serious protracted w/d
Cardiac and autonomic nervous system w/d effects resulted in hospital admission - low & erratic pulse
Re-instated to 10mg Citalopram after several months - bit better
Tapered after 6 months (2008) over 3 months using liquid drops - gave up when w/d started at 2 mg as didn't know better.
Cardiac symptoms - no improvement - pacemaker implanted.
Placed on corticosteroid for autonomic nervous system issue - caused deep depression/suicidal thoughts on top of w/d symptoms
Placed back on Citalopram 10mg for 12 months - 2009/10
Taken off - 2 week taper again - worse w/d, paranoia and intense anxiety developed. Referred to psychiatry
Placed back on Citalopram 10mg - 2012 - refused higher dose
Taken off after 6 months - 2 week taper again - serious anxiety, dissociation, in a mess
Therapist, peer support and education on psych drug w/d got me through more serious w/drawal effects.
Drug free since 2012, but still have bradycardia, recently tachycardia and pacemaker plus minor legacy effects. No MH symptoms

Welll, I really didn't know how much I favored the 'right-side' page content till it was gone. But at least the changes didn't make anything fall over except the 'welcome' page.  :)

What happened and how I arrived here: http://survivinganti...ion/#entry50878

July 2016 I have decided to leave my story here at SA unfinished. I have left my contact information in my profile for anyone who wishes to talk to me. I have a posting history spanning nearly 4 years and 3000+ posts all over the site.

Thank you to all who participated in my recovery. I'll miss talking to you but know that I'll be cheering you on from the sidelines, suffering and rejoicing with you in spirit, as you go on in your journey.

Wah, the 'back to top' button (link) at the end of a page is gone. But I like the new posting window being right there after the last post and while I was composing  previous post, a little popper told me that someone else had just posted in the same topic and offered to let me read it. Now thas cool......

Please welcome Edted to our moderator team.

After many difficulties with going off antipsychotics, Ed's son, with Ed's help, is successfully tapering Abilify.

Ed shares the knowledge he and Cal have gained about tapering antipsychotics and dealing with withdrawal symptoms.

Thank you for adding your voice to this site, Ed.

Welcome, Edted!

July 2001 prescribed 20mg citalopram for depression;
On and off meds from 2003-2006.
February 2006 back on 20mg citalopram and stayed on it until my last attempt at tapering in September 2011.
By far the worst withdrawal symptoms ever. Reinstated to 20mg citalopram
October 2012 - found this forum!
Nov 2012 to Feb 2013 did 10% taper, got doen to 11mg - was going great until stressful situation. Cortisol levels hit the roof, hideous insomnia forced me to updose to 20mg.
March 2016 - close to 100% back to normal!

Welcome Petu, great to see you on the mod team  :)

**I am not a medical professional, if in doubt please consult a doctor with withdrawal knowledge.

See how to create a signature here http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/topic/12364-please-put-your-withdrawal-history-in-your-signature/

Many drugs for many years, prescribed diazepam first 1973, took occasionally. 3 or 4 tricyclics  for short periods.

1993 had a breakdown leading to 10 years of drug experiments with all classes of psych drugs.

2002  effexor.

Tapered by counting beads from March 2012 to March 2013, ending with 5 beads.

Withdrawal April 2013 . Reinstated 5 beads reduced to 4 beads May 2013

Restarted taper  Nov 2013

OFF EFFEXOR Feb 2015    :D

Also tapered atenolol and omeprazole Dec 2013 - May 2014

Tapering tramadol, Feb 2015 100mg , March 2015 50mg -hold- Feb2016 46mg  March 8 2016 45 April 44mg  May 11  43mg June 14 42mg

Taking fish oil, magnesium, pro biotic.

My story http://survivinganti...king-in/page-33

Lesson learned, slow down taper at lower doses. Taper no more than 10% of CURRENT dose if possible

mammaP has graciously agreed to join our fine group of moderators.

After many life difficulties, medical problems, and a long history with psychiatric treatment, mammaP has been carefully tapering off Effexor.

She's been through so much, we're very grateful she's willing to contribute even more of her habitual kindness here. Welcome, mammaP!

2010-withdrew from Effexor 150mg to zero over a period of 9 months

After six weeks became very ill

Doctor was adamant a reinstatement of 150mg was needed

I didn't know much of withdrawal symptoms at this time

February 2013- taking beads out of capsule 150mg

have taken out 112 beads equivalent to 30mg= 120mg taken

June 2013- Doctor visit- recommended given me 75mg capsules

take one in morning and one at night( take beads out of night one)

So am currently taking 75mg in morning and take beads out of 75mg night capsule to make up the other 45mg= 120mg

currently am down to taking 112.5mg..

 presently reduced down to 103mg

at 93mg

at 87mg

Welcome, MammaP!  I'm so glad to have you on board.  Your consistent kindness and caring about others, despite all you've been through and are going through, has been heart-warming and I'm sure you'll continue to be a positive force on the forum. (HUG)

Welcome MammaP, I've noticed your kind helpfulness, its a comfort to have you here.  Thank you.

I'm not a doctor.  My comments are not medical advise. These are my opinions based on my own experience and what I've learned. Please discuss your situation with a medical practitioner who has knowledge of tapering and withdrawal...if you are lucky enough to find one.

My Introduction Thread

Full Drug and Withdrawal History

Brief Summary

Several SSRIs for 13 years starting 1997 (for mild to moderate partly situational anxiety)

Xanax PRN

Various other drugs over the years for side effects

2 month 'taper' off Lexapro 2010

Short acute withdrawal, followed by 2 -3 months of improvement then delayed protracted withdrawal

DX ADHD followed by several years of stimulants and other drugs trying to manage increasing symptoms

Failed reinstatement of Lexapro and trial of Prozac (became suicidal)

May 2013 Found SA, learned about withdrawal, stopped taking drugs...healing begins.

Protracted withdrawal, with a very sensitized nervous system, slowly recovering as time passes animal25.gif

Supplements which seem to help:  High doses of Vitamin C, Magnesium, Garlic and Ginger.  Taurine, Vit D3, L-Theanine and Inositol. I'm one of the rare people who react badly to fish oil.

June 2016 - Started daily juicing, mostly vegetables and lots of greens.

Two announcements:

A small software update took place yesterday which should resolve the issues with posting links (the prior software ran the link and any text following together, making the link inoperable).

And, I am very happy to welcome bubble as our latest addition to our wonderful moderator team.

bubble joined last October and quickly added much detail about tapering and withdrawal to her natural common sense. She is fighting the good fight going off Lexapro and Xanax. Her Introduction is here http://survivinganti...apro-and-xanax/

Welcome, bubble!
