Congratulations Ali!  It is great to have you as a moderator.

September 2013-April 2014: After the death of my mom in July 2012.-became very depressed in September of 2013. Given a series of antidepressants very quickly from about 4 different psychiatrists in a 6 month period. Each one was from 1 day to 10 days at the most. My body could not handle it-I had Zoloft 6 days, Lexapro-1 day, Nortriptyline-10 days, Liquid Prozac, 1 week, Cymbalta 1 week.

December 2013-September 2014: Put on Xanax after a reaction to the Lexapro, averaging .50-1mg per day. Switched to Clonazepam-midway averaging about 0.25-0.50 daily.

June 2014: Jan/Feb 2015: Put on 7.5 Remeron titrate up to 41.25mgs

September 2014-July 2015: Put on 25mgs of Lamictal titrate up to 200mgs daily. Also stopped the Clonzepam- never felt the wd I had experienced when I tried to stop it before (knowing nothing about withdrawal) because the Lamictal calmed me down.

Currently: I tarted tapering Remeron from January 2015-April 2017-2 years, 3 months.  Started tapering Lamictal July 2015.  Tapered both medications together till I got to the lower doses of Remeron.   Main wd symptoms-sweating, nausea, headaches, deep crying, anxiety.

12/21/16 Remeron 1.6 Lamictal 22.50 mgs 1/19/17 Remeron 1.2mgs, Lamictal 22.50mg 2/12/17 Remeron 1.2 Lamictal 21.25 mgs 3/4/17 Remeron 0.85 Lamictal 21.25 3/14 Remeron 0.85 Lamictal 20mgs 3/22 Remeron 0.45 Lamictal 20mg 3/25 Remeron 0.45 Lamictal 18.75mgs 3/30 Remeron 0.025 4/7 Lamictal 18.75mgs Remeron 0.025 5/19/17 Lamictal 17.50

4/7/2017 Remeron Free stopped at 0.025mgs

Additional Support: Acupuncture with Reflexology, Alanon, L-Theanine for anxiety as needed, Estradial patch 0.025, Bio-indentical Progesterone cream 150-200 Armour Thyroid 90mgs.

Hello to all the newer and senior moderators. Thank you so much for your time helping us.

2005-2006 Rapid taper off of Zoloft. Horrible but survived. Adverse drug reaction to Prozac.

2010-2013 Night panics. All typical sleep aids failed. Diagnosed with complex PTSD.

2013-present: Valium (5mg x 3) prescribed by pro-benzo doctor. Helped me sleep for awhile. Then sleep began to get worse again.

Nov. 2014 Switched doctors. New doctor was anti-benzo but thought a 3-month taper was a slow taper. Failed and reinstated. Added 25mg Seroquel for sleep.

March 2016 Reduced gabapentin by 20% by accident and backed up again. (Was trying to feel less sedated.) Reduced again more slowly to 200+200+300.

October 2016 Liquefied one V tablet. Neuropathy back immediately. Waiting to liquefy another.

November 2016 All 3 tablets now dissolved. I think the windows are getting a little more frequent but they don't last long. Sleep poor.

January 2017 Felt stable enough to try daily microtaper. Started at 3% and inched up to almost 10%. Became very unstable. Terrors back. Neuropathy back.

February 2017 Holding again. Slow improvements.

March 2017 Neuropathy back to tolerable. Making very tiny cuts, about 3%/month.

April 2017 Hold. Lot of stress. Anxiety high and sleep terrible.

May 2017 Trying 1% cuts once/week of the V.

The esteemed Shep is the latest addition to our moderator team.

When she first posted here in November 2014, Shep was coming off 30 years of every type of psychiatric drug you can imagine, for a spurious bipolar disorder diagnosis when she was 17. Her story is here: ☼ Shep's journey

She has had many distressing withdrawal symptoms and has learned a great deal about self-care. She is slowly recovering and, having contributed so much to the site already, has now joined our fine group of moderators.

Please welcome Shep to the moderator team!

We welcome you, Shep, and thank you for your willingness to help !
**I started taking Zoloft 100 mg. in 1996 for a panic disorder with agoraphobia and depression, which worsened after a car accident. I have had these symptoms since age 11 .
** In September 2009 , the Zoloft was upped to 150 mg and .5 mg Xanax was added as needed for extreme anxiety due to my Father's illness and death from cancer. Successfully tapered off the Xanax in November 2009.
** I started my Zoloft taper in September 2011,and,in July 2012, reached 75 mgs.(went to 68.5 mgs,but went back up to 75mgs due to withdrawal related depression /anxiety symptoms .
** I started tapering again in September 2014 ,and, as of December,2014, I was holding at 50 mgs. Zoloft until February,2015, when I tapered in two cuts to 37.5 mgs. Due to protracted withdrawal symptoms, have up dosed to 50 mgs. Zoloft on 5/18/2015 and holding there.
**Also started .25 mgs xanax at bedtime in September,2015, due to alerting/jolting awake/anxiety and not sleeping because of heart related issues, now resolved.I tapered completely off in Oct. 2015 (too fast ) had withdrawal symptoms and updosed to .12 mgs Xanax once a night.
** After dry cutting till I couldn't do it accurately, I have been on compounded doses. Am on 0.076 mgs compounded Xanax as of 8/31/16 ,once per night.

Congrats, Shep!!!! :)

Long story short: After 18 years on Paxil, "tapered" in July 2015 from 20 to 10 to 5 mg in a month, at doctor's advice. = Essentially a cold-turkey.

*Current*: March: 0.82 mg Paxil. Jan 1:  .88 mg, baby!! …. August 31: Less than 1mg Paxil! ... July 30: 1 mg Paxil! ! ! And 100 mg Zoloft unfortunately!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On Paxil since 1996--anxiety & depression likely caused by (then-undiagnosed) under-eating / eating disorder.

Rapid "taper" July 2015 and started Zoloft as a "cross-taper". Feb 2016: Found SA!! As of June 2016: Doing 2% cuts (Brassmonkey Slide!).

Now: fish oil, magnesium; protein; exercise; healthy fats; acupuncture, meditation, & a new doctor.  I am in recovery from an eating disorder!!!  ***Have you had a sleep study?***    *Feel free to message me if I don't respond to a forum thread.*

Shep.....how wonderful that you are on the Mods team. I cannot overstate how much you helped me with the perfect message

at the right time. We are so lucky to have you on the team.....many congrats !

Anti Depressants for  25 years. Valium between 2006 to 7 tapered off over a month without too bad withdrawals.

For last 15 years 150 mg of Effexor and 30 mg of Mirtazapine. Occasional short term benzo use without habituation.

March 2015 stopped Effexor after rapid taper. 6 weeks.

One month fluoxetine June 2015...stopped CT July 2015.

October 2013 to December 2015 Zopiclone 15 mg at night,

Dec 2015 to Early March 2016 Lyrica 75 mg at night.

Stopped too quickly as  adverse side effects.

January to May 2016 tapered Zopiclone to 7.5mg

Crossed over to Valium and now ..March 28th 2017 Benzo Free.

Also on 30 mg Mirtazapine and holding until have finished Benzo taper.

IN protracted WD from Effexor.

scallywag has joined our fine group of moderators.

Although joining SurvivingAntidepressants.org only in April, scallywag has impressed us all with her depth of knowledge and valuable contributions, such as

After an earlier misadventure with Effexor withdrawal syndrome, she is currently tapering Cymbalta by counting beads, having paid the price for skipping doses to go off -- that story is here Scallywag: Cymbalta - Forgot about tapering - bad idea

Welcome to our mod team, scallywag!

I also hope that you kiwis are okay.

Apart from the physical danger and damage it's amazing how things like this can cause issues.  My family had been visiting in a suburb of Newcastle for about 1 hour when that earthquake hit.  We raced outside because we had no idea what was happening and a short while later I broke out in hives.

Can't speak for the rest, but I'm okay.  I am so far from where the earthquake happened, but it woke us up and we got into a doorway.  Probably didn't need to, but it felt safer.  The main issue here in Raglan is that our water supply got disrupted and so we have to conserve and boil water for the next 3 days.  Thanks for thinking of us here in NZ - that's lovely :)

Ditto! :)

March 2017 Neuropathy back to tolerable. Making very tiny cuts, about 3%/month.

April 2017 Hold. Lot of stress. Anxiety high and sleep terrible.

May 2017 Trying 1% cuts once/week of the V.

My heart is spilling over: I have read such beautiful, eloquent posts lately from members and moderators.

Yes, we have our quotient of wasted pixels, but in all, there is a sense of goodness here.

Thank you, everyone, for making this site such a very special place on the Internet.

wow Alto, you never cease to amaze me

I did not expect to see this, when we owe so much to YOU and the mods, for this site and for the countless hours volunteered to help mere strangers on the interwebs

there's not sufficient words to express my gratitude.

and then to see you thanking the folks here!!

you've got a huge heart Alto

June 2015: tapered too fast to 2.5mgs, then to 2.5mgs every other day Dec 2015:  found SA forum; holding at 2.5mgs

Early May 2016: jumped off at 2.5mgs, not smart- crashed in late Sept.

Oct 26 2016  reinstated liquid lexapro 0.05ml/day at night, dose +/- til settling on 0.15BID (0.3/day)= windows and waves

Jan 8, 2017 too quick switch to single dose in the morning, 0.3mgs (bad mistake, led to a crash)

Lexparo 10mg user for 2.5 years. Last dose was 2/27/2008 after a fast 1 month taper. Recovered around 2011. Had issues with depression, anxiety, akathasia, inner restlessness, vertigo, insomnia, loss of appetite, eye floaters just to name a few. Basically rode it out, employing the Dr. Claire Weekes method.

Took Cipro in July of 2014 and have been having set backs with nausea, vertigo, anxiety (racing thoughts), and depression the last half of 2014.
