Flower when I saw the Therapist this week I told her I was made an myself and perturbed at the Psych Nurse for taking Serzone.

This is what she said:  "you tried to get help.  You did what you thought you needed to do at the time.  We have no control over what drugs do to our systems.  All drugs."

You did the same thing.  You went for help with an issue.  You saw a doctor you trusted.  You had no control over the effect the drugs or absence of would do.

I was reading about Klonopin being used to treat recovering alcoholics who are clean and sober but suffer terribly from anxiety.

Some of  them have taken Klonopin for over 20 years and do not abuse it.  I have a good friend who is an alcoholic and has been clean and sober for over 25 years.  She has terrible anxiety (her parents were both institutionalized) when she was young.

She has been taking K for 25 years and does not abuse it.  There are days where she only takes one at night and none during the day and then there are times when for example she is flying to NY and she takes one before the flight.

I was amazed at reading about this and I did ask the Therapist and she said she used to know one of the Psych's.  He has since passed away.

I don't know how to explain this......so maybe you should just stick with the K and not transfer over to Valium.  As I usually suggest...Google whatever you can on K and what I found out.

Please don't beat yourself up.....I am trying very hard not to beat myself up over the serzone/celexa/imipramine fiasco.  I felt a sense of calm when the Therapist told me what she did.

We were all seeking help.  We only wanted to feel better and to get rid of anxiety - depression - pain and a host of other things  that were affecting the quality of our lives.

Hugs and hug the doggie

I went for a bus ride today to a casino, lost the darn klonopin out of my pocket, lucky to have had 2mgs of valium in my purse on the bus..I'm not to sure I like that valium anyhow Nikki...It did the trick until I got home..

I just know this is very difficult to wd from 2 ssris even with this klonopin....I refuse to take more....I guess that would be to easy..2months today and still a mess with all this crap going on in my head. Peace and relaxation would be great......

Hang in there guys one day we'll be able to do just that.. flower

Hi Flower.

How are you doing?

I am on 2.0 mg abilify for 2 yrs now.  I tired to taper every month 2.0....1.5....1.0....0.5....off.  I was fine until I jumped off at the end.  I will need to slow the taper down after 0.5.  Maybe try 0.5, 0.4, 0.3, 0.2, 0.1, 0.05, 0.025...off.

8/2/17. Abilify  2.0 mg

Petu I posted in the benzo section and changed my sig. I was pleasantly surprised to hear from all of you..I made so many friends here...I have no choice but to stay put on this dose of the K until some sanity returns.I hated those 2 ssris, celexa and trazadone. My body has changed so much since the C/T.....the rash on my feet is gone,,, the eczema on my back is almost gone, I had it on my scalp too, that's entirely gone..the tinnitus from the trazadone is gone..

Dont get me wrong, the klonopin wd is tough , but the traz and celexa was worse.for me anyhow.

Now I need to focus on the slow process of getting off the K..It never agreed with me but I was in serious wd...I believe the traz nags at me some...Right now the biggest thing is the crying...I cant make it stop.Doc told me the benzos have a depression that comes along with them..That's the main reason I dont want to switch to valium.More depression.

I'm sure I tapered to quickly and will suffer for a while but I wait.I force myself to get out and do daily tasks.I also know that klonopin will kick your butt 3 weeks after a drop of the size I was doing..I have to go slower...I'm hoping to hear from someone with experience here.

I'm getting anxious so will have to distract..

I just wanted to say thank you for being here for people like me.....flower and Weezie (my little dog) thank you all so much....

Good morning everyone.....I've been distracting myself so much I've not been back ....

I found out from the pharmacy that the sublingual klonopin will not keep as a liquid so I've spent the last weeks switching to a Teva brand pill.Tomorrow I will go to the liquid Teva and remain at the same dose as now for a few weeks to see how I handle the liquid..I've been told the nausea should be the worst thing to deal with, I'm prepared..

The first reduction will be 3% of my total dose.....I feel I'm ready, if not then ill wait longer...the klonopin has outlived its usefulness. ?.it has to go..I dont know how anyone could like this drug...SXs are ridiculous...the fog is awful, I cant remember yesterday yet..doc said this will all come back in time....she keeps referring to taking baby steps...lol I have been......flower

Hi Flower,

I'm glad you have decided to slow down on your K taper.  I don't know anything about tapering benzos, but it sounds like you are making some good decisions.

If you post in the benzo forum here:  http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/forum/29-members-only-benzo-tapering-discussion/

you will get better support for this taper.  Wishing you continued success.

Flower - I relied on benzo buddies and benzowise recovery videos on youtube by Baylissa Frederick. For some reason, her video on recovering (reassuring) was instrumental in getting me through an OD and demonized unreal wd process. I went off Paxil CT and then took an assload of benzos during the most insane time in my life to date. Sister died - daughter moved far away - marriage ended - lost business in divorce and then my home and pets.

Without that video and my kung fu grip on my bedsheets, I don't know who would have helped me. I was completely alone. Broke. No insurance no income.

BABY STEPS - yes yes yes. Please...you do not want to suffer like I did. Please take your time and go easy on yourself. If I can save one person from doing CT then it was worth it.

You are being proactive and mindful which is good. The fog will clear up in time. Patience. Grasshoppa.

I'M A WEANER!  :D
atavan PRN ,Paxil approx 20 yrs ago for major depression
Switched to Klonopin PRN through to current
Paxil wore out
Changed to Effexor
Depakote added
enormous weight gain - flat affect - led to depression - dropped depakote
Dropped Effexor, changed to Paxil
PDoc added mixed salts amphetamines for ADHD - took for 2 yrs - was ok at first but had to cut as symptoms too intense -  then the crash was too much. STOPPED
Vyvanse started in 2013 (APRIL) - more smooth than IR amphetamine tabs---Have not used vyvanse daily in full amt since May 2013

Paxil CT withdrawal 10/2012   Klonopin CT WD

Switched Klonopin to Xanax prn  - too strong

WD CT from XANAX after taking for a while - it was awful but can be done if you hold on!

Back to Klonopin PRN - working very hard to avoid taking it at all.

Effexor 37.5 started 02/2013, 75mg by 03/2013, 150mg by 05/2012 (approx)

Effexor 150mg 3/10/2014 Microtaper -3beads

Ladies, please don't underestimate the possibility of perimenopause. The symptoms can be similar to, may intensify & in some cases mimic protracted w/d from ssri's & benzo's.
