EternalOptimist
Thnx Mamma. How long does it take you to recover on average? I'm quite concerned ( using less alarming words) cause I'm so sick. Feel so raw this morning, brain sick, weak, crawled out of bed, fed cats, now curled up on couch. Doing 5 mins at a time. Feel toxic. Had blip of Hospital thought and memory of last year. Is this stressed out nervous system? Went through stress going to dr ysterday with friend to get referral for eyes. Had severe headpain after that. Is this aftermath of that stressor? These are questions I'm asking myself. Never thought I'd be posting like this again. Tho I wasn't well, I was doing life with sanity, hope and some physical comfort just last month. I know it's Thanksgiving so might be slow here. Hope my plight doesn't scare. lolly
Hi eternal o Sorry you aren't doing to well. Maybe it's your chronic fatigue aggravating everything. What you have explained sounds like how I feel when I'm having a bad relapse of my CFS it's so important to remove any stress from your life where possible and to pace yourself it's so easy to overdo things but I'm sure you know all this!! Have you tried meditation? Lolly Feb 2013 - started Mirtazapine 15 mg have CFS /ME did 6 months of tapering to 0 mg 2 months drug Free awful withdrawal May 2014 reinstated at 6 mg August 2014 - 5 mg. lolly
I do guided meditations that have muscle relaxing techniques. But like you if I try and force myself to relax it makes anxiety worse. EternalOptimist
Hi All: Been thinking of you. I'm still in serious relapse mode and wish I could tell how much is protracted w/d. Ever since the rearender, head sx have increased. Was told by 2 docs this last week need laser procedure to prevent vision loss and I nearly freaked out, esp since I'm so raw and weak again and just going thru the exam and visit wiped me out so much. WAs also told I might want to take a benzo. Geez. Anyway, think I'm calming down from that but the raw sick weak brain stuff continues and mornings, like now, are just so difficult again. My goal is to try to stay as calm as possible and maintain hope as best I can. It's difficult when I'm in yet another serious setback. Been so many years and I'm sad. For otherwise healthy people, I wonder if setbacks can be anywhere near this level? I know I don't participate much here as it's just to hard to be on computer much. Appreciate any feedback and comments. Prayers to all for complete recovery. Meimeiquest
Oh, EO! I'm sorry. What a journey for you. You know, I always have these ideas for you that are too much to do, too much to read when you're so sick. But I can't bring you a pot of soup, so I will do it again. I am getting a lot of help switching my benzo to inositol, if you feel up to it, you might want to research that. Also liking a new book, Rethinking Fatigue. Now you can throw your slipper at me . Thank you. What concerns me more is the inability to read much, comprehend and the stress I feel trying to do so. My eyes want to shut down when I try to read more than a few minutes. All this makes me anxious cause my brain isn't working normally, esp first 1/2 half of the day. I can do laundry and mentally unchallenging things more easily than anything mental. I appreciate the book recommendation... I'll share with my CFS cohorts. Little over a year ago and first time since came off xanax (10 years) I could do few online short classes but had to do laying down. Anyone relate? Thanks for "listening"! How are you doing M? RETHINKING FATIGUE: What Your Adrenals Are Really Telling You And What You Can Do About It [Kindle Edition] Nora Gedgaudas (Author), Datis Kharrazian (Foreword)[/size] Yes. Combine it with The Diagnosis and Treatment of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome by s. Mayfield, and I think that pretty much covers fatigue and brains that don't work. And I will never be able to say enough good about Dr. Walsh's research. They come to CA a couple of times a year, and all they have you do is take (expensive) supplements, which gives the breathing room to work out some of the other stuff. How am I? Still on a third of my original benzo dose and just over a third of the original lithium. 5 drugs gone. I am finally thinking I am going to actually make it off all this. We have spent a lot of money this year on alternative doctors, but it has really paid off. Deciding this weekend if I will accept a full-time position where I currently work part-time. lolly
Hey eternal optimist. Are you still having a bad time? How do you manage your CFS and withdrawal symptoms? Do you find anything helps? The only thing I can recommended is relaxation techniques and maybe some CBT to help you cope with your anxiety. I know it's not that easy but it has helped me a little tiny bit. Baths with aroma therapy oil and Epson salts sometimes help. Having a bit of a bad time on this drop. I only went down by 0.2 mg which is nearly the smallest I could drop by and I'm getting this throbbing strained pluses all over on body I feel stressed and getting sleep disturbances waking up feeling ill sick and fluey though out the night. I also get these electrical throbs in my head that come with anxiety. It's not the worst I've ever felt and I can cope with it but it's just knowing I've got to deal with this another probably 30 times till I get to zero. Anyway hope your all coping. And t girl any changes for you? EternalOptimist
Hi there Lolly! I'm still in a rough patch and can hardly believe it. Thanks for asking. I'm sorry you had such a difficult cut/drop. I was telling a friend nearby who's tapering Paxil and not on any site that each cut/drop can be different. You can feel okish on one and mighty bad on the next. I'm glad to read you can cope. I'm trying to meditate daily (ooohh, that's not easy for me) and should work on mindfulness. I definitely work on thoughts and try to keep to a routine and be grateful. It's the hardest first thing in the morning, in fact, it's like Groundhog day in the mornings. I reread a little on neuro-emotions today on this site and am glad to have refreshed my mind on this topic. Helps. Seems things make more sense in the late afternoon and evening. As for managing CFS sx, most important is diet..avoiding sugar (but I cheated last couple days due to Christmas treats), and learning to pace. HA! That's a real trick for a Type A! I'm stubborn on that one, pushing til I crash. So difficult to just be with the w/d symptoms when have to lay down for the CFS. I do take the Natural Calm magnesium at night which helps. Thanks you for your suggestions. The head pressure is so severe that I avoid long periods of sitting, esp in bathtub. I bet I take the quickest bathes on earth! LOL I shower too BtW! LOL I'm curious about you too Tgirl. How are you? Ok, Nice to chat with you today Lolly. P.S. I know getting off the last can be quite frustrating. Hang tough. EternalOptimist
Urgent: any ideas? Woke up at 2:30 AM this morning after three hours sleep and I knew something was wrong, I lifted my head up off the pillow and it was as if my eyes, my brain was going left and right, almost like vertigo but only going left and right not all-around, heart heaving and pounding in racing, and in a sweat . Feared I'd have to call 911 but I didn't. I got myself calmed down a, little bit and talkd to a friend at four in the morning but now it's 730 and I don't know what's going on with my brain. I'm scared I'm confused I just don't know where to turn for help. lolly
How awful it's so scary when you get things like this happen.. maybe you were having a nightmare/ night terror and then woke up with a panic attack but does sound like a weird withdrawal symptom. Hope you sleep better tonight. Regarding your other message that you avoid sugar I wish I could do that I get massive sugar cravings probably from the remeron still. lolly
No I've never felt worse after sugar and have always craved it before remeron. I do understand why you don't have it as can't have lots of things like citrus fruits and cafine because of food intolerance they just seemed to trigger symptoms like headaches nausea etc. Feb 2013 - started Mirtazapine 15 mg have CFS /ME did 6 months of tapering to 0 mg 2 months drug Free awful withdrawal May 2014 reinstated at 6 mg August 2014 - 5 mg. EternalOptimist
so you have food intolerance issues due to w/d? Think Im reading that right. Never had much G.I. issues in xanax w/d but more in remeron w/d even after only using 9 weeks. 9 months off...i never thought i'd be in this much heck after feeling so much better, after short use of a med and with 2 w/d's and cFS....I guess I just have to keep holding on. Glad u all are out there tho this is a crime that we should have to go thru this after doing something for ourselves as prescribed. I took 2 ibuprofen, laid down to watch some t.v. this afternoon and my brain won't sleep but feel like it goes to a weird toxic place..then I feel worse and heart pounds a bit...maybe reacting to the stress of this all. I can get that down but difficult to let go of what the heck is going on here. Thanks, I needed to vent a bit. I so want to get better too and stay that way and want that for all of us. 1989-2004 low doze Xanax nightly. 2004 w/d in hospital c/t with 3 other meds, (trazadone, phenobarbital, risperdal) Tapered off those meds in 7 months. 2010- bad anxiety so tried Valium and klonopin, back to hospital, came home on nothing, got much better. 12-23-2013- hospital for anxiety, depression,insomnia...used low dose lamictal 12 days with mitrazapine. lolly
I always had done intolerances before withdrawal remeron actually seemed to help. That is how I feel too most of the time my mind won't sleep and my heart pounds it's not nice then stressing out about it makes it worse and it's a vicious cycle lol. So just wanted to say now as I'll probably be too busy over the next few days. hope you can enjoy Xmas a bit. All it has seemed to do is stress me out having to arrange things and see people and try and keep it together. I've got a flu virus at the moment seems to be making withdrawal worse I hope it goes by Xmas day. EternalOptimist
Hi Lolly: Yes, it is so easy to get into a vicious cycle with stressing about the symptoms, worrying about the symptoms, trying to make sense of the symptoms etc. etc. etc. I'm good at that too. then throw on top of that a busy week, like Christmas week, it's a test of endurance. I'm sorry you have a flu virus on top of all of it. Do you get flulike symptoms in withdrawal too? Sometimes I have difficulty determining which is which. I'm doing my best to enjoy this Christmas week. It's okay. Thanks for popping in and saying hi. I hope and wish for you and yours a Merry Christmas and a much much much much much better New Year! EternalOptimist
I remember long ago on benzo groups some wrote they almost didn't want a window cause the wave that followed could be so bad. Moderator Emeritus Petunia Posted January 4, 2015 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 4, 2015 How long have you been in this current wave EO? My waves seem to last anywhere from 3 days to several weeks. But I don't really have consistent windows yet so when I come out of a wave, I just go back to a kind of base line which is nowhere near 'normal', but not as bad as a wave. Have a look at the windows and waves topic, there may be some discussion there. Wishing you a happier new year too. I'm not a doctor. My comments are not medical advise. These are my opinions based on my own experience and what I've learned. Please discuss your situation with a medical practitioner who has knowledge of tapering and withdrawal...if you are lucky enough to find one. My Introduction Thread Full Drug and Withdrawal History Brief Summary Several SSRIs for 13 years starting 1997 (for mild to moderate partly situational anxiety) Xanax PRN ~ Various other drugs over the years for side effects 2 month 'taper' off Lexapro 2010 Short acute withdrawal, followed by 2 -3 months of improvement then delayed protracted withdrawal DX ADHD followed by several years of stimulants and other drugs trying to manage increasing symptoms Failed reinstatement of Lexapro and trial of Prozac (became suicidal) May 2013 Found SA, learned about withdrawal, stopped taking drugs...healing begins. Protracted withdrawal, with a very sensitized nervous system, slowly recovering as time passes Supplements which have helped: Vitamin C, Magnesium, Taurine Bad reactions: Many supplements but mostly fish oil and Vitamin D June 2016 - Started daily juicing, mostly vegetables and lots of greens. Aug 2016 - Oct 2016 Best window ever, felt almost completely recovered Oct 2016 -Symptoms returned - bad days and less bad days. April 2018 - No windows, but significant improvement, it feels like permanent full recovery is close. VIDEO: Where did the chemical imbalance theory come from?
