Wow, what courage! In similar situation so wondering, do you think switching to liquid may have affected you? I'm close to same dosage as when you started, and not sure if I should switch to liquid and not sure if I should taper to 2.5 as do you think your original drop to that caused problems?Do you think this affected your symptoms?

FSL, thanks for checking on me!

I'm still in the most severe situation ever. Both WD and reaction, hardly able to hang in.

How are you?

Hi Isabel,

I don't think switching to liquid is the main issue for me, although it could have been some issues. My main issue has always been drug reaction after multiple updose.

How are you feeling since the recent updose? what are your symptoms now?

My symptoms vary day to day. Not to the severity of a lot of those but I'm guessing it gets worse the lower I go. Idk. How do you know what is reaction vs withdrawal? Aren't they similar symptoms? Did you updose by a lot and did your symptoms start right away? I've gone up and down on doses thru the 8 years with no problems till now when I stopped and reinstated.

No I never updose much as you did, it is shown in my signature.

Yes, I know which is from what as I got the reactions immediately from taking a dose.

What problems are you getting now from reinstate?

Well for the past week or so weird head sensations. Sometimes cold, other times hot, or like something is moving "busy", a little pins/needles, now heart palp I think, or course insomnia. Do u think this will get worse if I decrease. Do you think you'd feel better stopping your dose? At times I think if I can get stable, I'm not tapering. How do you keep going. You really inspire a lot of people. You have to be close to the finish line.

Sorry you got those weird symptoms. For me those are typical symptoms of updose reaction. I had the worst akathesia symptoms today as a matter of fact, bugs crawling allover my head, entire back of my body, needling pain etc. they have been with me ever since I updosed about 2.5 years ago and got lot worse after couple more times updosing. I usually feel better with these after dropping doses, but I don't have much luxury now since I'm also in severe WD.

My signature and med history is at the bottom of every post I made. I updosed many times, 2014, 2015 then just a month ago ( from 0.06 mg to 0.12 mg).

The only thing I'm taking is fish oil.

I saw you up and down with dose quite a few times too. That could be the reason you are getting this weird head symptoms.

May I ask you what happened to you between 2014 and 2017 when you were off the med? Were you doing fine then? Why did you reinstate in 2017?

From 2014-2017 I just stayed at 1.5 ish. I don't really know cause I just cut the pill. One day decided to stop cause I thought I was on "low dose". So only a week later started up at 2.5 then dr told me to go to 5 and then I went to 4 and now 3.75 something I've been at for three weeks. The moderators said I should try to go to 2.5 x 2 weeks and then 1.5. I'm so confused cause I thought everyone tapers slow but I guess in my case I reinstated too high and I should try to go lower but I'm also afraid of withdrawal. Which is why I ask so many questions. Worried if I stay too long at this dose it's bad and worried by going going I'll have WD. Sorry to burden you, but I'm going through this without telling my family or dr. I do appreciate any advice.

So you didn't stop in 2014 as your signature says, rather you stayed on 1.5 mg all those years only until 2017 you stopped from 1.5 mg for one week before you reinstated to 2.5 mg?

You are right about why others advise you to faster taper as your case is now complicated by the reaction to the higher dose reinstate. Once one is facing the two opposite evils, you don't have the luxury to slow taper. Basically you have to balance the two sides at a level you can bear both.

It took me years to understand this super complicated señorio even now I still got confused from time to time. If you can identify symptoms caused by WD from that by reaction ( the new ones you got from updose), and see which one is the more unbearable, then up you would have a better idea weather to drop dose, how much to drop and how long to hold etc.

Do you know what are the origin nail symptoms that made you reinstate, and what are the ones added on since reinstate, especially those after 5 mg?

Started on 25 mg Zoloft in March 2011 due to stressrelated tinnitus that gave me panicattacks. Had a terrible reaction to Zoloft from start, but was told to "hold on". After four months I was stuck. Therefore the long taper. Crazy, I know... Super sensitive to drops and have dropped by 4-6 % from the previous dose.

Dear Amy, Happy to hear you as always:)

I am at 0.125mg now, dropped a few times in the past month since updose to 0.13. The drops are so incredible small (0.0004mg) but I always got the typical WD symptoms the day immediately following the drop. I cant believe my system is that sensitized. You are doing amazingly great taking it so slow at the low dose.  I feel you can still cut a few times before reaching to zero, it wont hurt, and just a few more times you will be landing like air.

I am in similar situation to those who CTed, and plus the most severe needling pain and akathesia from the drug reaction. I will stay strong though until any major improvement for a more comprehensive update.

Hugs to you for such an life time achievement and your kindest friendship!

Hi Isabel,

I am sorry you made a mistake in measuring your dose.

Even its impossible for anyone to give sure advise for this very complicated process, I do want to try to provide some reasoning when appropriate.

I am still very confused about your med history and symptoms from each dose change so its is not possible to say anything.

Its best to try to ask such major advise in your thread so you will get more people to chime in. If you can explain the main timelines, dosage and symptoms others will be able to provide better suggestions.

Hi FSL, thank you for stopping by!

I'm sorry you feel stuck! It's ok to take more time for your body to take a breath from the stress caused by taper. I'm glad you have the luxury to hold long! It will settle as you hold!

I am so happy that you can torun for half marathon during withdrawal! This is incredible really, it sounds you are doing really well considering how this process can disable many others.

Best wishes,

Lex

Thank you both cipromillion and Amy!

Sorry I don't have good news, still in acute WD probably also mixed with reaction.

Holding around 0.12 mg did couple drops of 0.0004mg. Altogether had couple 1-2 hour windows in the past few months since the big jump in January. Unlike before, things are not changing for better for a long time. Still hanging, counting hours everyday.

Thank you my friends keeping an eye on me!

I'm still not seeing any light. Things are quite confusing again. After each cut of 0.0004mg, I would feel momentary spirit lifting the next morning and clear mind for half day or so, hopeful too, then will be hit quickly the next day with heavy symptoms. I have been having this mysterious pattern of one day with severe numb, paralyzed left body, along with mental non functional, then the next day with severe burning/ needling pain with better mental function. After holding for like 10 days or so, my head starts to swollen and tough stiff hard to speak clearly then I would cut again which took the swollen away the next day.

I found my self so sensitized, that taking the initial few tiny drops everyday always bring up immediate dosing reaction with pressure and swollen eyes, and strange head sensation, feeling very ill and wrong overall, usually it's easier to take the reset dose for the day only causing DR like symptoms.

I'm now 4 months since 0.8 mg, according to my tapering rate before the big jump from 0.8mg in January 2017, I should have been down to a dose close to my current dose, so I was hoping things from WD should settle down quite a bit. Only that I updosed from 0.06mg to 0.12 mg in March which very much likely also made things more complicated. all together the strange symptom pattern and the dose change, plus my drug reaction history have made it impossible to know what is caused by what, thereafter a tapering strategy. So I just go along with the symptoms day by day and hour by hour, oftentimes make decision on cutting dose the last minute depending on how I feel that moment.

How are you doing cipromillion? In my thoughts you are still enjoying the trip to Spain. I hope all are good for you and once and fo revere no looking back to this nightmare!

Best wishes!

Lex

Im shocked to hear how hard this drug has been on you. It just makes me som angry and frustrated. So unfair! At least you are doing an incredible jobb making sense out of your patterns and dose reactions. Im confident you will heal over time, my friend. Just keep up the good work and dont give up! We are here to support you on your journey!

I dont want to take more space here in you thread, but i will make an update this week. Basically im in a new phase of WD now, and the akathisia has lessened, which is a huge relief. The waves are shorter, but different. More psychological symptoms than before.

Hugs!

Thank you cipromillion from bottom of my heart for your consistent support! It gives me strength to continue.

My recent sickness level of disability got to a new record, which I don't even think it's possible from sole WD. Symptoms are quite unfamiliar and quite frightening how sick I feel overall, I literally feel dying or passing out lots times not knowing which part of me is exactly wrong, heart, brain or something else. Somehow I think it's the drug causing more of these, a condition similar to serotonin syndrome. My chest is heavy, heart pounding loud, I felt very nausea and feel like to throw up although I didn't. I never had this before even in acute withdrawal.

This happened a few days back for the first time ( call it day 1) so I decided to drop 0.0004 mg (0.3%) then the next day I felt a lot better, almost normal for like half day. I dropped the same dose also in the next 2 days until feeling the familiar WD symptoms ( still quite severe) then held the dose for 1 day ( yesterday), today I had a similar day like the day 1.

If I'm guessing correctly, my body is in complete resistance to Lexapro now after years poisoning from multiple reactions from updosing.

Hi Gridley, Thank you for your kind words and support!

I am glad you are doing the right way of tapering Lexapro being slow and consistent. Don't be scared by my case as its super complicated by years up and down dose change and many many stops and reinstate. I believe with your current schedule you will get off the poison safely and smoothly.

Much healing vibes to your rest journey!

Oh Lex! <3

I think that is a sign of reaction, as I believe you think too. What dose are you at now?

Still, in this terrible state you are handling the taper so well. You listen to your body and it's signs. I just wish it was easier for you and that you had some relief soon. Stay strong.

Thinking of you and stand by you.

Hugs, Amy

Started on 25 mg Zoloft in March 2011 due to stressrelated tinnitus that gave me panicattacks. Had a terrible reaction to Zoloft from start, but was told to "hold on". After four months I was stuck. Therefore the long taper. Crazy, I know... Super sensitive to drops and have dropped by 4-6 % from the previous dose.

Thank you Blondiee for your kind support!

I hope you are coping well with Luvox. I know these drugs are all horrible, but I'm glad you are done with Lexapro. It's the most evil thing in the whole world.

Amy, I'm at 0.12mg now. Last time I updosed from 0.06 to 0.13 in March, then have been dropping tiny doses over the past 2.5 months down to 0.12 mg. it has been the most terrifying months for me even my past tapering was very painful already, I don't know if the last updose made things even worse or the WD from the jump down to 0.06 causing all the deliberating symptoms physically and mentally 100 times. it most probably is from both. I'm unable to function at the minimal level. I can't believe after all the struggling and effort, at the stage where I thought I am close to the outing of this horrodous journey, I have to quit my job with no other options.

I don't even feel sad anymore about the job, as my whole life is over, nothing really matters. Even With a can do altitude all the time, I'm done with zero capability to fight further. So increnpdible, like a real nightmare.

And this is not neuro emotion talk unfortunately.

Your life is definately not over, it's wd talking. Wd makes us feel panic and dread, but that is not what and who you are.

Are you able to get disability leave for some time? I dont know how it works in the US.

I think the last tiny fractions of mgs are the hardest. I feel that myself. Stay on to the vision being med free. You WILL come there.

Can you talk to some of your collegaues about this?

Love and hugs,

Hi Lex,

You have been so supporting to others here on the forum while having a really hard time yourself.

You have to believe this nightmare will once seem like a nightmare of the past. A brain can recover from a lot, but please don’t bombard it with despair. Find a light in your life, like people who care about you, your love for a pet, anything.

Also, and this is important, accept that this is what you are currently going through. You don’t have to accept this as your future life or anything like that, just that this is what you’re currently feeling. Please do that. To feel is to heal.

PS many times the doggie in your av has brought a smile to my face. I really appreciate you!

Took my first SSRI sipralexa/lexapro/escitalopram in 2007 for depression. In 2010 the doctor switched me to paroxetine/seroxat/paxil for anxiety.

My paroxetine story from then on:

2010-15 from 10mg up to 20mg

jan 2016 30mg

may 2016 0mg cold turkey (don't!)

dec 2016 symptoms: anxiety, tremor (could barely stand)

jan 2017 reinstated at 7.5mg to taper in steps of 10%

...

Dose changes from may 2017 to now:

5.0/4.7/4.4/4.0/3.7/3.5/3.3/3.1mg
