Therefore the long taper. Crazy, I know... Super sensitive to drops and have dropped by 4-6 % from the previous dose.

(((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))

Try to remember how far you've come.

20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013.

Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks.  The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better.

Final Dose 0.016mg.     Current dose 0.000mg 04-15-2017

Hang in there. There will be better days.

Im 3 months off Lexapro now. Its clear to me that this medication has been giving me terrible reactions even at microscopic doses. The worst WD after jumping off 0.04mg has faded, but the waves are still there (more mild). Some neuro emotions. I can tolerate coffee and sugar now :D Have not tested alcohol yet, but prob will try a glass of wine soon. I actually think my WD mostly is related to my first CT episode, and not a consequence of the final jump now. All in all i have improved a lot after my last dose. Hope this is good news to all of you suffering on ultra low doses. Just know the reaction could be far more significant than you think. Hopefully the WD after the final jump will not last for that long. Im amazed how strong this drug is.

Best wishes!

Dear Lex, I just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking about you and following your journey.

You have proved time and time again how much stronger you are than this horrible drug. You will pull through this. I want to believe these are its last kicks. As Amy says it won't be forever. Nothing is. Although I know very well how at times like these it's very hard to believe that. One moment at a time. You are not alone.

To all my dearest friends who are holding my hands and lifting me up at the darkest time of my life, I felt so overwhelming  reading your kindest and encouraging words with tears pouring down!

tom, you are so right, that I need to think how far I have come instead of feeling terrified with the rest journey.

GrandmaD, every day when I'm in severe pain I think of you. Knowing how much you are going through but still staying strong and pushing through always gives me strength and courage. I'm very sorry I haven't stopped by your thread for a while. I hope you get some breaks along the way. You are in my prayer!

Mit, you are so sweet! I'm a huge dog lover, but ever since I started this journey, I lost confidence in taking care of a dog. i promised myself the first thing when I am recovered is to get a dog. I'm glad the doggie I choose for my AV brought happy feelings to you!

bubble, it's been long time. You helped me so much in the past bringing my awareness of the horrifying dosing habit I had-- CTed hundred times using the meds like a pain killer. I'm glad you are doing a super slow taper, and hope you are coping well and managing your job well.

Amy, you have been there for me in every single step of my long journey, I feel like knowing you for life as a close friend! God bless your heart! I'm so hoping you are completely out of the woods now and can start rebuilding your life as full as possible!

cipramillion, I'm so glad we were connected as your wisdom, determination and support haven been a true aspiration for me to stay strong and hopeful! I am so happy you made it out now!! I always remember what you said-time and pressure.  I'm a huge fan of the movie shawshank redemption, watched it many many times with tears, I even have a big poster in my bedroom of Andy and red playing chess.

I love you all!!!

I believe my major suffer is still from the drug reaction. my WD is severe and disabling but not that tourturous. To avoid sudden melt down allover from CT, I tried to hang on to the drug enduring the severe painful symptoms from the drug reaction every day constantly . I am now 5 months since getting down to the tiny dose, I hope the brain healed some from the damage caused by WD and hope I can reduce the dose faster from now on. in the past 5 months, 0.0004mg (0.3%) drop is the max I can tolerant, lately I am able to drop more frequently like every other day for a few days before hitting the wall. On the other hand, drug reaction is high all the time except for the day when I hit the WD wall from consecutive drops. Currently I'm at 0.1152 mg. no one else would believe how this tiny 0.0004mg can do to my brain. After years manipulation by this drug and dose change, my system became extremly  sensitized.

We love you too, sweet one!  We are all standing together, holding each other by hand and each one's hearts also.  Do not be sorry about not stopping by in my thread!  I was going to say sorry for not posting on your thread!  We have both been going through a horrendous time at the same time, so at these times, a privilege to at least be able to pray for one another.

PS The first few weeks of winter here has seen a couple of new lambs born and they have to survive the below freezing temperature and frosty mornings, but they love to bathe in the warmth of the sun (Son)!

Oh dear GradmaD, thank you so much for your kindest and continuous support!

The lamb is so adorable I want to hold him with kisses! I'm very happy that you can still connect with nature like this and nurture your soul and mind!

How are you doing lately?  I haven't been on the forum as often for a while totally buried in the depth of a lost worldIm. Today I found myself a bit lost in the new format and organization of the forum and having hard time finding the threads I follow.

I I hope life in all other aspects treats you with mercy while fighting this war!

I love that film. A true classic! It has inspired me so much in lots of different situations in my life. I wonder what would have happened if Andy went through Lexapro WD. Not easy when the prison is inside your own head...

Well, I am ok. I havent stopped yet. I am down to adding the small 0.33 mg piece in water, throwing the water away, adding 5 ml water and throw 4.5 ml away. Still I feel the drug entering my brain. :o I have burning skin and some brain fog. From wd or the drug?

But it's ok. I can do things.

I will stop soon, but my son's birthday is coming up and I don't know if I dare before that.

We know these drugs are crazy, don't we?

Hugs!!

Oh, my bad, how could I mis- read your update earlier thinking you are done with the poison!

well, you are for sure at the last step now, 0.0003 mg is the tiniest possible even for the much stronger med Lexapro. I believe it's safe not to further dilute.

Burning skin and brain fog are from WD for me, after years testing, I'm quite sure now.

yes, you surely don't want to disappoint him on his birthday. I adjust my dosing time around meeting up with my son to be a bit more like a human all these years.

after his birthday, we'll celebrate your new birthday soon, reborn from the damn drug!

Hi FSL,

thanks for for stopping by!

are you at 1.75 now? Did you updose? I saw in your signature you were at 1.59 in March.

what are your symptoms? What makes you feel stuck at 1.75?

if you are experiencing bad WD, holding is the way to go as you know. I found at lower doses, it takes more patience.

best,

lex

Lex. We are all thinking of you and wishing you the very best. Up to this point, you have been so strong and I know you can continue to fight and eventually beat this. I'm so sorry you're struggling again right now. It's hard and incessant right now but ultimately long term you will not only survive but thrive. I'm looking forward to seeing that day!

Thanks all my dear friends!

i am still holding tight everyday like all of us do. After a rather fast and frequent tapering in the past month, drug reaction lessened and I even had two beautiful evenings the past week, very encouraging! Soon after I hit the big wall of WD with intolerable headache etc. such a crazy and endless roller coaster journey with one moment so hopeful and feeling out of the woods and the next in a total doom!

Haven't heard of your update for a long while AliG. How are you lately? I surely hope 3 years off, you are getting all your life back in full and enjoy every day like never before!

GrandmaD, you are in my prayer and will be all the way to the end of your fight!

Amy, your excellent example is what gives me hope and faith that one day I will be there laughing with you together! Hope the last  wave is tiding down for you and never come back. There is no other way really.

love to all!

Great news, Lex!

The drug reaction will lessen, and the WD will fade with time. Just keep on believing, my friend. "Two beautiful evenings". An many more to come! :D

Hugs!

<p>Sept 2015: 5 mg Cipralex for 3 weeks. Lots of side effects. Reduced to 2.5 mg for 2 weeks. Experiencing withdrawal and side effects still after dose reduction. Quit after almost 4 weeks on 2.5 mg because of adverse effects. Experiencing withdrawal symptoms still. Reinstating 1mg after 3 weeks. Reduced to 0.50 after 2 days due to sensitive reaction (dysautonomia) and trip to ER. January 2016: After 14 months of tapering from 0.5 mg im now down to 0.08mg. Planing on one more drop before 4-8 weeks healing, then jump to zero. 14.03.17: Lexapro free!

Yes cipromillion, I'm more hopeful now than before being so close to zero dose. I was able to sit on couch to watch TV which I couldn't do for over a year and enjoyed the coziness and the show too! I found drug reaction is a lot more difficult to endure, even the pain from WD is very intolerable.

I'm so happy that you are feeling much better! Can't wait to MEET you on the other side and share the joy of life and freedom!

Started on 25 mg Zoloft in March 2011 due to stressrelated tinnitus that gave me panicattacks. Had a terrible reaction to Zoloft from start, but was told to "hold on". After four months I was stuck. Therefore the long taper. Crazy, I know... Super sensitive to drops and have dropped by 4-6 % from the previous dose.

Hi Amy, Somewhere End of May, my head started feeling like a rock with very stiff neck, back along the stoned head, so I started tapering again from 0.13 mg. it seems somewhat dropping dose heals a bit with this new symptom but the typical WD was still quite strong so I did tiny drops like 0.0004mg every couple days. This symptom got even stronger lately very disabling allover, so I decided to taper faster. I dropped from 0.12 to the current 0.1 mg in the past months. Suddenly I felt I was able to drop quite fast without much WD issue and the drops brought fair days or hours in the past week. My functionality improved a lot in such a fair day along with outlook for life, confidence for recovery etc. sometime I feel almost completely normal.

my guess is, most healing from the WD was done in the past half year since I jumped from 0.9 to 0.13, and now the drug is more toxic to my body.

I hope I can continue traveling like this until the finish line. It seems it may not need another year to get there. By the current rate, I should be reaching zero round end of the year.

im looking forward to hearing great update from you on your thread.

love,

lex

I wonder also how we do this, honestly!  I just wanted to drop by and say hi and give you a hug and say I have never forgotten you, but continued to pray for you during this difficult time.  I have just not been able to sit for many months for long enough to keep up due to the spasms.  I have just had 2 reasonably good days, so hope that continues!  I also had the  stiff neck during that time, going up into the right side of my head, but the back and hip pain were much worse.  It is just unbelievable how it can affect everything so much.  Anyway, I hope you continue to see more and more improvement and hope you are thru the worst of it.

1995-2007      20mg Aropax/Paxil for pain.  Years of up and down doses

2008                Endep, Lexapro and then Esipram (hell!) CT (oh dear!)

2013                5% taper.  Big mistake.  5.5mg – 4.6mg  (even worserer)
