Zoloft 100 mg. daily for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome since Oct. 1994 / Synthroid 88 mcg. daily / Supplements: Neptune Krill Oil-1,000 mg. twice daily/Astaxanthin 10 mg. twice daily/Ubiquinol 100 mg. twice daily (These 3 have allowed me to discontinue (approved by doctor) bp meds I was on. Calcium Citrate 500 mg. daily/Vitamin D3 2,400 iu daily/K2 (MK7) 100 mcg daily (osteopenia and fam. hist. of severe osteoporosis). Stress B Complex (1/2 dose)/Quercetin (for allergies/asthma)/Magnesium (400 mg. oral glycinate and about 50 mg. magnesium chloride spray oil a day, divided throughout day).

Tapered Zoloft about 6 wks. Totally off since the end of July (25-29, 2014). 3 wks. vertigo at end of taper, then 3-4 wks. OK, followed by withdrawal symptoms increasing in severity (nausea, gastric disturbances, loss of appetite, insomnia, restlessness, jitters, anxiety, agitation--jumping out of my skin--possible akathisia?) Seem to have paradoxical reactions to everything new, even Vitamin C. Severity of akathisia comes and goes, but is constant to some degree. Hard to leave house, and cannot be home alone. (Retired)

D.    This is probably one of the hardest things you will ever have to go through in this life .  I know you have had another major struggle  , in your life ,  that you should not have had to go through . No one should have to deal with that  . It is unfair . I understand .

However, life does go on , and you have had some beautiful windows , where you have felt alive , inspired , courageous, and happy !    :)

I think , if you can just hold on to that in your darkest times , minute by minute , remembering that you have had moments when the " old you " came back , and resurfaced , as if  " coming up for air " ,   periodically . Even , if it didn't last long , you know it's there, waiting for you ....

You know it is possible , and  get " glimpses" of it , occasionally , even if it's short - lived .

You have to  remember that , if you possibly can .

I know you can do this .

Hugs,

Ali

Did you also get the "good cholesterol" (HDL) result? Many doctors believe the crucial statistic is the ratio between the two. See http://www.mayoclinic.org/cholesterol-ratio/expert-answers/faq-20058006

I would read up on cholesterol scores and statins, there is a lot of controversy about them. Personally, I would decline statins as long as possible -- but my HDL is high, too.

I agree with Alto, but if you DO end up going on a statin, CoQ10 (or Ubiquinol) is an absolute MUST. CoQ10 is found in every cell in the body, and is depleted by statins. Back a couple of years before withdrawal, I got off my BP and non-statin cholesterol meds with Krill Oil, Ubiquinol, and Astaxanthin.

Zoloft 100 mg. daily for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome since Oct. 1994 / Synthroid 88 mcg. daily / Supplements: Neptune Krill Oil-1,000 mg. twice daily/Astaxanthin 10 mg. twice daily/Ubiquinol 100 mg. twice daily (These 3 have allowed me to discontinue (approved by doctor) bp meds I was on. thanks for all your replies...I've just been reading about cholesterol drugs and it's pretty scary...so many side effects and they aren't even proven to actually reduce heart attacks.

I did the big downsizing move too ...to room.  It is difficult like you say especially when you are dealing with wd and challenges you have no experience with.  For me I got a lot of comfort from the usual moving was disorienting when I was already struggling with orientation on many levels. My advice is to tend to your self care more than ever before.  Meditation tapping even helped me with this tho I can't say exactly how it helped it did help me. At one point in the video that I post here a lot ( utube eft... depression guy in the red shirt if you don't see my links to it) Distraction for me was key I could not take it all in it was too much so when I started to slip I would purposefully distract myself I did a lot of music without words and walking sometimes at the same time or rest... baths colouring ect.

Statins are the devils drug in my opinion another one... spacedoc.com is where I first learned about statins.  I quit statins proton pump inhibitors effexor ...lord only knows what else all the same day. I thought I was dying and had not resource about any wd conditions or any side effects yes completely clueless.

Months later when I found pp Lori York and I had a talk about the other drugs one gets to treat the side effects of a Ad ... statins made the list as did the pronton pump inhibitors I am sure there were others but I can't recall them now.

I still have high cholesterol and my doctor has repeatedly tried to get me to take a statin again... and I refuse... at one point when she talked risks I said to her I can't take the side effects if I die cause of lack of a pill so be it I was not planning on living forever anyway. I know that was a bad thing to say as it did not help my relationship with her any... her and I do this constant dance of my reacting badly to drugs and her not getting it till I have to take ride to emerg... it gets old for both of us.

Try not to lose your patients like me with your doc tell her you will diet and exercise more... and try to do that I try to too.  I am going to try the ground flax seeds as suggested above.  I have them anyway just stopped using them for some reason likely forgot... and due to past research I grind your own flax in a coffee grinder and keep them in an opaque container in the fridge... I recall that as I had to go shopping for a container just for ground flax... dollar store sold me a red tomato shaped container think it is still in the fridge.

There is an up side to moving less work when you don't feel well less work is good if it pans out that way. I feel so bad for you right now and reliving the loss of my home at the same time.  I wish I could think of something real and decent to say if I have anything at all this is it...

In time the sense of loss will ease till your reminded you will get use to the new living arrangements I think I am falling short I am sorry... for me when I look back at that life then I was a different person it was a different life. I can't join the two to the same being I call me... I am not sure what that means maybe your thread is my therapist today.

Sorry for running on in your thread... I hope your not alone and that loved ones will be with you as that should help.

I wish you peace direstraits.

Ican't believe my cholesterol is so high,I don't even eat that much, wonder if it could be related to theWD, I don't know.think I'll try the flaxseed, too, see how that goes. really don't want to put more drugs into my body at this point...just want to be a happy, functioning person again...don't we all...wishing peace and health to you, btdt...xoxo

Hey DireStraits

I have the same exaggerated cholesterol levels.  Mine started when I was on Zoloft and zyprexa.  I think zyprexa may have been the culprit.  Mine were around 450 or so.  something like 3 times past the acceptable limit.  I started taking Lipitor and it reduced the cholesterol levels considerably, but Lipitor is literally a  difficult pill to swallow.  I think mine was 80 mg and the size of some sort of horse pill.  I constantly worried about choking on the thing.  I quit taking the lipitor when I went cold turkey off of everything in feb 2014 and my cholesterol has gone back up again, but I just don't care.  It was my gp who prescribed the Lipitor for me who also told me Zoloft and zyprexa made me "feel good" even after I had informed him how incapacitated I was on the stupid pills.  What I mean to say is I am not taking the lipitor out of spite.  I also have abnormal liver readings which probably has something to do with my extremely elevated cholesterol levels.

Anyways.

PoetJester (Derek)

Court committed to take Prozac, Paxci, and Respiradol from 8/95 to 3/96.   developed severe akithisia and brain damage.  Was unable to speak and walking in circles 15 hours a day.  Went in for 5 sessions of ECT during a 10 day period in March of '96 and my forced medication was discontinued at that time.  My akithisia and brain damage cleared up within a few days of stopping the meds.

On Zoloft (200 mg) and Zyprexa (17.5 mg) March 1998- Feb 2014

In between was placed on Effexor 200 mg and Abilify for six months in 2004.  Developed mild akithisia which went away once I stopped the Abilify.  Developed severe GI issues in Dec 2001 and from that time on suffered from fatigue and hypersomnia where I would sleep between 12 and 20 hours a day and rarely ever left my apartment.

Had tapered to 100 mg of Zoloft and 7.5 mg of Zyprexa at the time of going cold turkey Feb. 2014

Went 5 days without sleep at the beginning while vomiting all over my apt.  Had brain zaps for a number of weeks and also lightheadedness which both eventually went away.  However 2 1/2 yrs later I still struggle with insomnia, depression, and fatigue.

My liver is not in trouble and has been for years I took lipitor too have liver cysts fatty liver

ssri drugs are hard on the liver end stop

my liver reading have not been normal in years I don't expect to ever see them normal at this point.

I quit taking all pills together too only because of a hallucination or a message from God or my dead Mother... I never sorted out which ... saying "stop taking those pills or lay in that bed and die"  I had been in bed months by then ... so I quit them all then... sounds mad I know such is life I am still here.

Years later I found this guy who was a doctor for NASA had some contacts I suspect and got to the bottom of the lipitor crap you can find him here

hey direstraits

I may have gotten my cholesterol and triglycerides mixed up. My cholesterol levels were around 400 (200 is high) all the way back in 2001 just a few years after starting psych drugs. They stayed that way, I am assuming, I never had physicals/blood work from 2001-2007, up until 2007 when I started the Lipitor and then went down to 180 or so, which is normal. they have gone up to 250 since I quit the Lipitor. My triglycerides were at 447 which is 3 times advisable limits. What are triglycerides? Beats me, but mine were not at good levels. They came down to 200 on the Lipitor and are still around there 2 years after I quit everything, including the Lipitor, ct.

The link below says a good diet can lower cholesterol 25% in 3 weeks, in this case the Pritikin diet (note you can get tons of free advice on lowering cholesterol diets)

https://www.pritikin.com/how-long-take-lower-cholesterol

Perhaps try a good diet and some exercise for month and see if cholesterol drops 25%. Then again you may just have bad body chemistry ?

But my over arching opinion is that head health is more important than cholesterol. Your post indicates you are on the verge of crashing, maybe a delay taking statins might make sense until you improve above the neck. Statins are said by some to inhibit sleep, very dangerous for us. I know going to a heart diet might be tough, since comfort foods lower anxiety. Msybe some compromise, I wish you the best.

I felt unworthy giving advice since Im on the path 8 months and reading your history I will get worse be4 I get better. Flaxseed provides the type Omega 6 while fish and fish oil provide Omega 3 which is reputted to be better. People will say krill oil is better than regular fish oil but it is 2 Xs the price and has only 1/2 the omega3. I buy the fishoil pills in bulk and refrigerat3 after opening bottlw. Catfish, tilapia are farm raised dog food fed frankenfish. If you likem sardines and anchovies are super high in Omega 3. Salmon and lox are great but are pricy.

If your blood pressure is high then maybe the solutions I just gave you, which may seem fishy, could be for you.

Im a guy so I wont write that hugs thing.

Hi DS,

Thanks for stopping by my thread. I'm really sorry about the loss of your house. It must be very stressful and difficult, especially given everything else you've been through. I hope it can provide some kind of new beginning for you, once you're through the moving and settling in. I wish you well with it.

In terms of cholesterol, it's something I'm still working on. My triglycerides are half what they were before tapering...and cholesterol is much better and in fact is normal, but supposedly higher than it should be for someone with diabetes. I've not been able to tolerate fish oil, but am taking phytoplankton oil instead: http://www.amazon.com/UMAC-Core-Marine-Phytoplankton-Liquid-Ounce/dp/B001B0OK2M/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1460225847&sr=8-1&keywords=Umac+Core. Not so much that I wanted help on the lipid issues, but wanted something to help with joint pain.

Try to go easy on yourself and don't expect too much of yourself through this time. You can get to other things later on. Take care.

Remeron for depression. Started at 7.5 mg. in 2005. Gradual increases over 8 years, up to 45 mg. in 2012.Began tapering in June 2013. Went from 45 to 30 mg in the first 3-4 months. Held for a couple of months.Started tapering by 3.75 mg every month or 2, with some longer holding periods. Eventually went down to 3.75 mg. about April 2014. Stopped taking Remeron August 2014. Developed issues with histamine a week after stopping--symptoms reduced through diet and a few supplements. Currently having issues with a few foods. Most of the histamine intolerance has resolved or is at least, in remission.

Current Medications:

Current Supplements: Cannabis (CBD and THC), Vitamin C, D, Quercetin, CoQ10, Tart Cherry, Probiotic, Phytoplankton oil, magnesium, Methyl B. What has helped me most: spending time in nature, qi gong, exercise, healthy diet, meditation, IV vitamins, homeopathy, massage, acupuncture, chiropractic, music, and cuddling my cats..

More roughage in general lowers cholesterol -- from fresh fruits and veggies (best), oat bran, ground flax seeds, psyllium, etc.
