Hi Amy!

I just noticed that you said you were in the Houston area. I am currently tapering from paroxetine and live in Katy! I have a great internal medicine doctor here that is helping me taper at my pace (3-4 years). Let me know if you would like her info! Best of luck to you! Go slow!!

*2000: Started Paxil CR 20 mcg at age 13

*Fall 2009: Came off Paxil CR 20 mcg cold-turkey

*Summer 2012: Reinstated Paxil CR 20 mcg

*April 2015: Started taper from 20mcg

*August 2015: Currently on 16mcg

Hey when you say compound, do you mean they crushed up the pills and weighted them out for you? Or did they specifically make thsee pills for you by adding in raw powder?
Feb 2012 Paxil 20mg.
Early March 2012- C/T paxil. Late March - Started Lexapro 10mg, Klonopin 0.5 x 3
February 2013 -Switched to Celexa 20 mg, Valium 10mg x 3
July 2014- Forced c/t off valium by Doc. Switched back to paxil.
March 20, 2015 - first 3.33% dose cut from 15mg to 14.5mg
April 1, 2015 - second cut down from 14.5mg to 14.2mg.
April 7, 2015 - third cut down from 14.2mg to 14.0mg
May, 2015 switched to manufacturered liquid paxil. Bad reaction.
Early June-Went down to 13.8
June to September- trying multiple methods.
October 2015- second attempt at compound. New pharmacy. Still feels like doses are all over the place.Symptoms are getting worse weekly/daily.
November 2016- started tapering again due to alcohol binge making 13.8 feel to strong, but it feels as if aNY cut even 0.1mg throws me into horrible withdrawal.

Admin note: MapleLeafGirl's Introductions topic: â˜ĵ Mapleleafgirl off Paxil

Hello Michele,

Could you please tell me what "compounded tablets" you had from your local pharmacy are exactly? I am not familiar with this term.

PS - Your success story is very inspiring! I have read a bit about your recent problems 20 months after getting off. I cant have any opinion here (but I could see that the experienced members already encouraged you and told you it would go away, so for sure it will go away!!!)

- on Paxil for more than 20 years, usual dosage 20 mg, in times of crises 40 or 60 mg (once even 80 for a few months!)

 - 9 November 2015 - quit Paxil practically cold turkey (3 weeks tapering)

- 20 Feb 2016 - after 3.5 months on zero drug reinstated 14 mg paxil because of entering unbearable protracted wd

- reinstatement brought no relief, only worse, terrible akhatisia crises, sleep lost completely till I finally understood that my brain could no longer accept the slightest dose of paxil, so tapering after reinstatement became impossible

6 May - 1 October 2016 - in psychiatric clinic in France where I was given: Quitaxon (doxepine),  a tricyclic  - 50 mg - 6 weeks, no improvement, very bad side effects; doctor tried paxil again at only 5 mg and I became suicidal

- then Lexapro, 15 June - end August, very gradual increasing to 15 mg - zomboid only, released from clinic and had to be reatmitted after only a few days. remeron tried too, rejected violently by the body

- 1 sept 2015 - back in clinic changed directly  for Effexor over 4 weeks rising from 37.5 to 187.5 mgs at discharge on 2nd October; 12 October 2015 - decided tapering effexor as it only made me very sick, every 3 weeks dropped 37.5 mg

- 26 Dec - zero effexor, tried prozac and then clomipramine bridge, both rejected

I'm sorry to hear of the recent turn of events.

Perhaps a mod might like to move this thread back into the intros ...i'm sure it is going to be a wonderful success story one day.

But till then it is a future success story still being written ...as are all intros.

with my taper....i would have spent more time at 10mgs to see if there was fallout from the higher doses.....spent more time at 5mgs to see if there was fallout from 10 and down...then obviously now i know...to go to 0 as i jumped at 1mg....so yes it was successful..up until i had the wave and realized some things that i should have done different....4 year taper i did...i would have maybe done 6-7 year taper as crazy as that sounds....

No not crazy but when I calculated your taper using NZ11's spreadsheet, you were good for 4 years, you went slower the first year so that was a plus. But like I mentioned in another thread, that last year and the too high (I think) drop off dose had unforseen consequences.

His spreadsheet is on page 16 of his thread if you want to look it up. You can plug your dates and doses into it and see how it all played out.

What happened and how I arrived here: http://survivinganti...ion/#entry50878

July 2016 I have decided to leave my story here at SA unfinished. I have left my contact information in my profile for anyone who wishes to talk to me. I have a posting history spanning nearly 4 years and 3000+ posts all over the site.

Thank you to all who participated in my recovery. I'll miss talking to you but know that I'll be cheering you on from the sidelines, suffering and rejoicing with you in spirit, as you go on in your journey.

my first year i tapered faster . ..then from 10mgs down..i went really slow...5% every 4 weeks...but i should have maybe done 6-8 weeks...and then on PP people were going off at 1mg...so i had no idea about that going to 0 or for sure i would have done it that way...

from 20-10 i did...19.5. ...19...18.5...18...and so on down to 10....then when i got to ten all the rest of my tapers follwed this:

9.8, 9.6. 9.4..9.2...9.0 and i did that cut for all my doses down to 1mg...every 4 weeks...i did not ever dose up or down...as i had NO WITHDRAWAL symptoms at all...go figure...so that is werei might have gotten into some trouble..but i cant change it now...just have to move forward...

In Germany they sell a liquid form of paxil. It is easy to taper. Sad that I discovered it after I cold turkeyed. Maybe in the US you can get it too in liquid form ?

Cold turkeyed Paxil in May 2012

Finally recovered / see success story :)

Hi Mapleleafgirl!  How have you been lately?  Are you continuing to stabilize?

- 2002-2015: Zyprexa (Olanzapine), between 2.5mg to 5mg

- 9/15-2/16: Started a taper that jumped up and down quickly for five months.  Got really sick.  Took Xanax sporadically throughout taper.  Stopping taking Xanax in January 2016.

- 2/14/16: Increased dose to 3.75mg and held for two months, quickly got better at first and then slowly continued to get better after that

- April 2016: 3.375mg

- May 2016: 3.03mg

- June 2016: 2.73mg

- 8/18/16: 2.5mg

- 10/1/16: 2.25mg

- 11/1/16: 2.03mg

- 12/1/16: 1.82mg

- 2/1/17 1.64mg

- 3/1/17 1.47mg
