The focus begins with autism as to this lady it is all connected...

CFS  - Autism Golf War Syndrome - Auto Immune Disease - many types

She says the symptoms are all the same loss of tolerance to low levels of exposures tolerated previously .. triggering of symptoms by low level..

cog... mood ... digestive ... neurological symtpoms...

docs not aware and dx .. treat reinjuring

Masking... so many things going on ..multiple expose and overlap of symptoms. Need for environmentally clean research centers are needed ... they have them in Japan.

Tilt.. thrown off stable....many different types... I am on tilt.

20% of patients with chronic illness have this so it is very common. 15% of the general population.

Genetics load the gun environment pulls the trigger

General start of this is organophosphate ... poisoning...or other sorts of chemicals... in sponge ect... in homes and offices.

I wonder if pharma uses this... when making drugs. makes me wonder

she says it is life long. :(

Genetic CYP2D6

NAT 2

PON1

if you have both the first two.. genetic ploymorphsmism  I know this is the pathwway CYP2D6 used by Effexor

your 18 x more likely to have MCS

Codeine was the pain med when I was release from hosp continuous use till 89
Given PROZAC by a specialist to help with nerve pain in my leg 89-90 not sure which year
Was not told a thing about it being a psych med thought it was a pain killer no info about psych side effects I went nuts had hallucinations. As I had a head injury and was diagnosed with a concussion in 85 I was sent to a head injury clinic in 1990 five years after the accident. I don't think they knew I had been on prozac I did not think it a big deal and never did finish the bottle of pills. I had tests of course lots of them. Was put into a pain clinic and given amitriptyline which stopped the withdrawal but had many side effects. But I could sleep something I had not done in a very long time the pain lessened. My mother got cancer in 94 they switched my meds to Zoloft to help deal with this pressure as I was her main care giver she died in 96. I stopped zoloft in 96 had withdrawal was put on paxil went nutty quit it ct put on resperidol quit it ct had withdrawal was put on Effexor... 2years later celexa was added 20mg then increased to 40mg huge personality change went wild. Did too fast taper off Celexa 05 as I felt unwell for a long time prior... quit Effexor 150mg ct 07 found ****** 8 months into withdrawal learned some things was banned from there in 08 have kept learning since. there is really not enough room here to put my history but I have a lot of opinions about a lot of things especially any of the drugs mentioned above.
One thing I would like to add here is this tidbit ALL OPIATES INCREASE SEROTONIN it is not a huge jump to being in chronic pain to being put on an ssri/snri and opiates will affect your antidepressants and your thinking.

As I do not update much I will put my quit date Nov. 17 2007 I quit Effexor cold turkey.

  • 1 year later...

another doctor who says it can be cured....

As Dr Sherry Rogers writes in `Detoxify or Die',

`I have to laugh when people ask me if I do alternative, herbal, acupuncture or holistic medicine. 'No,' I reply. 'We do state-of-the-art medicine. In other words, we find the biochemical, nutritional and environmental causes and cures rather than blindly drugging everything. Sure, herbs are gentler, safer and more physiologic than drugs and holistic medicine attempts to incorporate many diverse modalities, etc. But there is no substitute for finding the underlying biochemical causes and cures. This is real medicine. This is where medicine should and would have been decades ago, if it had not been abducted by the pharmaceutical industry.'

  2. Results Comparing cases and controls, significant differences were found in genotype distributions for CYP2D6 (P = 0.02) and NAT2 (P = 0.03). Compared with the referent homozygous inactive (CYP2D6) or slow (NAT2) metabolizers, the odds for being CYP2D6 homozygous active (OR = 3.36,P = 0.01) and NAT2 rapid (OR = 4.14, P = 0.01) were significantly higher in cases than controls. The odds for being heterozygous for PON1-55 (OR = 2.05, P = 0.04) and PON1-192 (OR = 1.57, P = 0.04) were also significantly higher in cases.

Conclusions A genetic predisposition for MCS may involve altered biotransformation of environmental chemicals. The CYP2D6 enzyme activates and inactivates toxins; the NAT2 enzyme bioactivates arylamines to protein-binding metabolites. A gene–gene interaction between CYP2D6 and NAT2 suggested that rapid metabolism for both enzymes may confer substantially elevated risk (OR = 18.7, P = 0.002). Our finding parallels others' observation of a link between PON1 heterozygosity and neurological symptoms in Gulf War syndrome. This first demonstration of genetic variation in drug-metabolizing enzymes in association with MCS requires replication. However, it suggests new research directions on genetically variable toxin pathways that might be important in MCS.

mcs movement disorders

Illnesses that we have studied that can result from neurotoxic chemical poisoning include:

Anxiety disorder, attention deficit disorder, chemical sensitivity syndrome, chronic fatigue, dementia, developmental delay, environmental illness, hyperactivity, insomnia, memory dysfunction, mental retardation, multiple chemical sensitivity, myoclonus, neurologic illnesses due to toxic chemicals (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, paralysis, , etc.), panic disorder, Parkinson's disease, personality disorders, psychiatric illness due to toxic chemicals (depression, psychosis, schizophrenia, etc.), psychiatric-drug induced disorders (agitation, mania, psychosis, executive dysfunction, suicide, violent behavior), sick building syndrome, sleep apnea, sleep disorder, suicide, tremor, etc.

How is neurotoxicity treated? Drugs which have not been tested on people with neurotoxicity and which can have significant side effects may not be adequate for treating this condition. Ask your doctor about the application of the principles of health psychology, diet, behavioral and life style modification, psychophysical exercises, meditation, and dietary supplements, as well as chemical avoidance, for healing from neurotoxicity. These topics will be reviewed as this website is developed.

 01 Definition

Neurotoxicity is the poisonous effects of harmful substances on nervous system function, and a cause of brain damage. Common symptoms can include problems with memory, concentration, learning, mental processing speed, sleep, thinking, language, as well as anxiety, depression, confusion, personality changes, fatigue, and numbness of the hands and feet. Many types of nervous system disorders can be caused by neurotoxicity, including numerous neurologic and psychiatric disorders, as well as chemical sensitivity.

02 Our Mission

To provide the highest quality clinical and forensic services for the evaluation and diagnosis of neurobehavioral, neuropsychological and neurotoxic illness from chemicals, injuries and drugs.

03 Our Experience

Evaluating neurobehavioral function and the effects of toxic chemicals, drugs and substances (neurotoxic agents) on the nervous system since 1979; serving the Courts (federal, state and administrative) as a forensic expert witness in both civil and criminal matters since 1983.

 04 Applied Neurotoxicology

Applied neurotoxicology is a cross disciplinary study, requiring training, education, or experience in both toxicology and neuropsychology. An understanding of applied neurotoxicology is necessary for the correct diagnosis and treatment of neurotoxicity.

Why is neurotoxicity rarely diagnosed? Many people suffering from neurotoxicity visit doctor after doctor, with little in the way of a definitive diagnosis, and without adequate treatment. The reason why a diagnosis of neurotoxicity is relatively rare is because most doctors do not have sufficient training in toxicology to either recognize this condition, or to make the appropriate referral. The rare doctor who does have training in toxicology often does not have adequate training in diagnosing and identifying the symptoms of neurotoxicity, and may simply brush off the symptoms as being caused by a pre-existing mental disorder, such as anxiety, depression, or hypochondriasis.

http://neurotox.com/

Neurotoxicity can be a devastating disease. The condition is epidemic in our society. Unfortunately, neurotoxicity is rarely diagnosed, so people suffering from this condition remain untreated. When this condition is undiagnosed and untreated, the health of a person suffering from this condition can deteriorate. For example, dementia - sometimes resulting in a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease - can actually have neurotoxicity as a cause.

Many people are unaware that toxic chemical effects on the brain can occur without outward signs. Poisoning, by definition, can often be a hidden cause of illness. Because there are often no outward signs of brain damage from neurotoxicity, people suffering from this condition and lacking a diagnosis are frequently misunderstood by family, friends, coworkers, and supervisors. This misunderstanding can have severe consequences on employment, friends and family relations.

Economically, people can become disabled from neurotoxicity. The strain on social relations has resulted in divorce in some cases. Even more devastating, some people suffering from neurotoxicity have committed tragic criminal acts that resulted in part from an impaired ability to think, judge, plan, and control impulses.

Since I have it I am looking for movement disorders in people with mcs....

"Recently, I have been working as part of a team of experts evaluating patients injured from a refinery release in the town of Crockett (investigating the results of the Catacarb spill of August-September 1994) adjacent to the Carquinez Bridge in northern California. UNOCAL had a leak in their tank which grew and released Catacarb and other toxic pollutants which drifted onto two entire towns. Over 700 patients have come into the Good Neighbor Clinic in Crockett (paid for but not run by UNOCAL) because of symptoms; more are on the waiting list. Patients in general have eye-damage; breathing problems; immune abnormalities; rashes; increased mole size; skin tags; possible neuroendocrine disorders (abnormal menstrual periods); neurological abnormalities that include memory, concentration, decreased verbal fluency, and motor problems; and one has a serious movement disorder. Many, but not all, have developed MCS."

"Both organic and inorganic pollutants are a problem. Dr. Rea adds that "inorganic pollutants include ozone, carbon monoxide, nitrous oxide, sulfur dioxides, heavy metals and other metals. Organic pollutants include pesticides, formaldehydes, solvents such as toluene and xylene, drugs, terpenes, cleaning chemicals, cigarette smoke, combustible products, consumer products (e.g. clothing, building materials, hygiene products, et cetera) and biological compounds (mold toxins). The most toxic organic pollutants are those classified as halogenated aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons". He also adds that according to the EPA more than 4 million chemical compounds are currently recognized."

you will notice drugs on the list of causes

A long time ago I did research on Effexor xr at the FDA website and other websites... part of the drug was used to simply open the bbb blood brain barrier so the drug could get into the brain. While I was reading this article today which includes a section on how mcs people have chemicals affecting the brain a section on bbb was included.

Interestingly this article also documents movement disorders associated with mcs.

There is a mistake in this report it states that genotyping was done by Kerr on CF only which is incorrect ... typing was done on MCS.... see this:

http://ije.oxfordjournals.org/content/33/5/971.full

I cannot copy from the first link if I could I would post it here... how could such a mistake be made seems like a big deal to me.

"This is absolutely not the case, as Hooper himself has explained many times over in the past - the problem is that evidence is ignored for political reasons, not that it does not exist. Evidence that M.E. is a distinct neurological disease has existed for many many decades now, although it is true that we have no tests which can help diagnose 'CFS' but then we never will, as 'CFS' does not exist as a distinct disease and as soon as serious abnormalities are found on testing, one no longer qualifies for a 'CFS' misdiagnosis."

I suspect there is some outright denial of conditions like M.E.  but what I think is more common is that these conditions are accepted as existing but not considered particularly disabling.

In this situation, someone who says they have M.E. gets seen as a drama queen for fussing over what are assumed to be slightly worse than normal levels of tiredness and discomfort.  Alternatively, if the individual has trouble with mood disorders which magnify their perception of symptoms then others may assume the true symptoms are only a slightly worse experience than normal being experienced through the prism of a mood disorder.

There is possibly some truth in these prejudices but unfortunately they give people with significant disabling symptoms an uphill struggle to get taken seriously.

Difficult two year benzo taper. Subsequently took amitriptyline and Lyrica for pain and had to taper off them too. Both tapers were brutal possibly because of an underlying mitochondrial disorder which caused nerves to have insufficient energy to function.

Like so many things in life there are varying degrees of damage.  Repeated insults adds to the damage often on large insult is enough to severely damage a person and limit their life not always tho.  If the person has a problem whereby they cannot get rid of toxins as well as most they are more apt to be damaged worse.

There seems to be degrees like there are degrees of wd some are really damaged not healing in decades and others heal in a few months or few years. It depends on the person the degree of damage and how long the damage continued... example one person too paxil a couple of months got off with a taper went on with life less damage another took multiple drugs over many years did not taper... we expect and do see more damage and incomplete healing.

This MCS too is the same some people have what is known as Toxic sorry I forget toxic brain something where the brain is affected it can lead to complete disability... and everything in between.

Dr Grace Ziem at the site above it you want to know more are there are other places too look

it says this

here

http://www.chemicalinjury.net/hazardoussubstances.htm

Chemicals are NOT TYPICALLY TESTED for brain, immune, and hormonal effects, and often not tested for cancer, neurodegenerative, or autoimmune effects.

Due to the great cost of human studies, important organ functions are often missed:

Ø   Brain, neurologic

Ø   Endocrine, reproductive

Ø   Immune

Unfortunately, these functions are often damaged by chemicals that have been thoroughly studied. Furthermore, all fat soluble chemicals can enter the brain, and chemical brain damage can readily damage both endocrine and immune function. This is discussed  in more detail in Chemical Brain Injury, by Dr. K. Kilburn, Van Nostrand Reinhold, and the layperson’s version, Endangered Brain,  Dr. K. Kilburn, Princeton Scientific Publishing.  Both books are out of print but can be located online.

Odor Receptors In Lungs Could Explain Respiratory Disease; Sensitive Airway Cells Provide Therapeutic Target

prompt so-called neuroendocrine cells in our lungs to release a large amount of hormones that cause our airways to constrict. This is because the cells in our airways have the same odor receptors as our olfactory system, yet produce very different outcomes.

“We forget,” Ben-Shahar, author and leader of the study, told Washington University’s newsroom,  “that our body plan is a tube within a tube, so our lungs and our gut are open to the external environment. Although they’re inside us, they’re actually part of our external layer. So they constantly suffer environmental insults,” he said, “and it makes sense that we evolved mechanisms to protect ourselves.”

The discovery of these so-called pulmonary neuroendocrine cells, or PNECs, was reported in the American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology and might be key in understanding respiratory diseases and their characteristic hypersensitivity to certain chemicals. Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), such as emphysema, suffer from frequent tightening of the chest, coughing, and wheezing when they are exposed to traffic fumes, pungent odors,

perfumes, and other chemicals that can waft into their lungs.

This MCS is just part of a much bigger problem in my view.    All this just used to be called poisoning, now we live in such a poisoned world, it gets divided up into different names.

It is all acquired immune deficiencies.  Acquired through vaccines, that not only directly inject us with so many toxins, but also full of contaminants, all sorts of viruses, bacteria and other things, they didnt know were in there, so how can they get them out?   And mad scientists, messing around with DNA, and GMOs, and life itself. Once this stuff escapes the lab,  no one can put it back.

Then it just becomes like a bucket with a hole in it,  the stresses, toxins, drugs, chemicals all fill up that bucket daily, and as long as it never overflows we plod along OK,             The moment the bucket overflows it is just like a storm, we are overwhelmed, the defences are just all washed away.

I know they did bioweapons developments,  I know they tested these on people.   They tested vaccines on orphans, and 40,000 got real sick and many died, just in one polio vaccine experiment that went wrong, many died. They test drugs and vaccines and bioweapons on prisoners in USA.             They have sprayed populations to see how many get sick, from stuff dumped on them.

So the idea they created a mycoplasma, that our bodies find very difficult to eradicate,  is easy to accept as the truth, in my way of thinking.

Now this is a contaminant in everything, took 30 years or so.       Often people working in one area of a lab, carry this stuff unwittingly into other areas,      all our vaccines are contaminated, and this stuff spreads sexually, as well as through insect transmission.

WE all stay well, until this bucket of stressors, gets full.        In my case I think the antidepressants was the worse thing to have taken.     Pure toxic overload for a few years.   I believe the depression I had for 18 months aged 15, was a reaction to the damn chemical overload of the damn Rubella shot.   I had no idea at the time, now it is so clear.

I think depression, all these things, are just another part of that toxic overload.   Yes,  I have suffered depression due to life events, but that depression is different, just intense sadness, we grieve for something bad that has happened or a bad situation, but we change, adapt and move on.             However, the depression, that we suffer due to toxic overload, and also these mycoplasmas, and other out of control illneses, when our immune system is shot, eat away at nerves, and brain cells, and CNS.

Yeah, and the USA government made this stuff.   Why?             And the GMO, and the glyphosate, and the push to continue to use DDT.      Greed, power, and madness in those in charge.          Hate to say it, but I think it is too late, fukushima killing the pacific, and no one mentions it?         I feel like we are just like all the sheep that went into the gas chambers,  what can we do?  We are led by madmen.

It does make one wonder where they think they will live when the rest of us are dead.... maybe they have a grand plan to clean the earth.  It just makes no sense to me.

Had a car accident in 85
Codeine was the pain med when I was release from hosp continuous use till 89

There is a grand plan to clean the earth but site rules only allow me to discuss it in my topic in finding meaning.

I am not a medical professional. My comments and posts are based on personal experiences. Please consult appropriate medical professionals for advice.

I was started on psych drugs back in the late 80's. You name it. I probably was on it. Tapered off final cocktail 2013-2019. For Hashimotos and high blood pressure I take Levothyroxine. Liothyronine. Spironolactone. Hydrochlorothiazide. Losartan. B12 hydroxy. Fish oil w/D3. Bee pollen. Magnesium Glycinate.

Ang I have read about bio weapon too it came up when I was searching chronic fatigue... I have had it a long time so have had lots of chances to read about it.

If it is true this link says doxycycline  is a treatment.

http://www.newtreatments.org/Zapper/ga/441

does that sound logical to you?

Oddly enough they talk about a blood test by Dr. Les Simpson I had that test done here in Canad when he came collecting blood samples... forgot all about it... weird how things come back and this never goes away.

"

Since I first developed MCS I had been searching not just for safe products but also for effective treatments to reverse my condition. I was determined that there was no way I was going to spend the rest of my life (which could have been 60 years+) a prisoner in my own home.

From reading the available medical research on MCS (of which there is a surprisingly large amount) and from my symptoms and other observations I became convinced that MCS is a neurological illness or toxic injury to the brain, rather than an allergic type immune reaction to chemicals as is often suggested. The neurological hypothesis much better explaisn the symptoms and the spreading phenomena (rapidly becoming sensitive to more and more chemicals).

Dr. Mark Donohoe, an Australian GP who now specializes in environmental medicine, believes this to be the case and has written a great book on MCS entitled 'Killing Us Softly' which is available online for free at http://web.mac.com/doctormark/DoctorMark/KUS.html

Sure enough I found that treatments which affected brain function were the ones that brought the most relief. So much so in fact that I now no longer react to anything! I attribute my recovery mainly to treatment of underactive thyroid and adrenal function with T3 thyroid hormone, DHEA and licorice to raise low cortisol levels. All of these have a profound effect on brain function and rapidly improved my MCS. As I said at the start I only have the occasional twinge nowadays. I am sure avoiding triggers diligently for a number of years also played a big part in my recovery and I still avoid VOCs as much as possible now I have learned my lesson in the harshest way possible!

I hope this gives at least a bit of hope to those of you currently struggling with the nightmare of MCS. It is possibe to replace every product you used to use with safe alternatives and not deprive yourself of things. It is also possible to conquer MCS and regain your health no matter what you may have been told elsewhere.

Talking about your struggles can also be therapeutic so please do so on this site if you want to. You can reply to this blog using the comments section below or write your own blog after you register with the site (free and no confidential information required).

I have recently been told I have an auto immune disorder... not sure I believe it.  I have had a bad reaction to steroid cream no less a topical.. which seems unbelievable but it is true.. leaves me wondering what is next...

I had a good stint of not as much jerking or movement disorder problems not constant at any rate thought I was healing by using countless supplements and osteopathy juicing blah blah blah... at what point does it become an exercise in medical experimentation and cease being a life... I wonder that ...could I live a life at this point would I know how to live as I have been a lab rat so long I forget who I was....

had a good stint but it did not hold maybe movement disorders are like this they get a bit better then worse... hard to say I am on a two year wait list to find out... only a year and half to go..yeh Canadian health care... not sure if I am serious about that or not.

nothing else worth saying

I wish you all peace

Feel I'm doomed after reading this; I was told I have neurotoxicity at the ECH Dallas....no testing yet but from assessment; Is this just a life sentence? I honestly can't cope with the odd mental it's produced..

Rx'd 1-2mg Clonazepam for anxiety April 2016 (after one panic attack); asked to be taken down off of it due to it being benzo (I didn't do my research)...Placed on 10mg Lexapro-had reaction (crying hysterically, digestive issues, mood swings) to it; taken off (May '16) ; took myself down off Clonaz from 1 1.5 to .5 (probably last of May) in relatively short time (didn't know better); threw me into tailspin-no sleep for a week, dizzy, brain fog/dp/dr; went to another doctor who knew that Lex had helped me years ago (2014; 40mg) so pushed me to get to 40mg; stayed on for three months June-Aug; sick to death; quit doctor went to Psych PA who brought it down to 10mg  (end of Aug) and added 5mg Buspar x2/day; was okay for awhile then crying spells returned-same symptoms experienced as I did when on med; pysch took me off Lex; (Sept 19th); took myself off Buspar thinking it had made heart run/tachy (latter Sept); currently only on .5 Clonaz and miserable (weakness daily, apathy, anxious, tachycardia, occasional high bp, spacey, brain fog/dp/dr.)

Breakdown of Escialopram use: 10mg in May for one week; discontinued due to horrible side effects;

Placed back on Escitalopram in latter May, early June by doctor who knew it had worked for me in the past...pushed me from May to August to get to 40mg; all the while symptoms and my complaining to doctor-kept pushing me.

Went to psych PA who took me down from 40 to 10 that initial visit added Buspar 5mg x 2; felt a little clearer; then began feeling crying spells again. Doctor ct'd me -told me "Try to see how you feel after one week without it". All this time, I had been emailing him to let him know my symptoms and he basically told me to stop; quit him and found a PA who has been overseeing my care-he's an advocate of meds though...thinks there is no tolerance on Clonazepam.

Sorry I am not here much anymore so this is a very late reply.  We have to keep our hopes up and try to look for answers and just because other people don't get better does not mean you won't.

I keep trying to improve because this is my one and only life and improving is the only game in town... that and enjoying anything I actually enjoy.

I talk to people who have MCS all the time I am trying to find the ones who have improved or even shakily say they are cured to see what they did that worked... I keep looking I hope you do too.

I am curious how ECH Dallas tested to diagnose neuroticity what is the test called and what is the treatment they suggest?  Have you tried what they had to offer and did it heal you?
