Obstacle1
Is there any kind of consensus on what antibiotics are least risky? My dentist prescribed my Metronidazole yesterday for an infection and after reading through the comments here I'm inclined not to take it...Of course that's only if the infection doesn't get any worse, I don't want it to spread, but the pain doesn't seem too bad at the moment. I wanted the problematic tooth extracted but after a few injections the dentist couldn't numb the area successfully. He recommended taking antibiotics for a week then trying again Began paxil/seroxat 20mg in 2001 for social anxiety, age 14 Switched to liquid and at some point tapered down to around 7ml(14mg) 2007 tapered too rapidly down to 4ml had severe depression and anxiety for a year, stabilised at 6.6ml(13.2mg), same dose ever since Have had 2 negative reactions then, one in 2010 and one in 2014. Currently recovering from this latest one, whole array of symptoms that come and go
Vasherr
Hi, tinidazole seems to be better tolerated by general population if we're talking about nitroimidazole group, but all of them are monoamine oxidase inhibitors that cross the blood brain barrier, so possibly risky. Tetracycline could be less risky as it doesn't cross. Also from my personal experience Azithromycin and Amoxicillin are fine, I was taking Amoxicillin in high doses for h pylori infection (6x500mg daily) and didn't felt any different. But to be fair there is no telling for sure what will happen, but metronidazole is infamous even among general population so I personally would steer clear of that. Wishing You a lifelong window! V. Duloxetine 2016/17 - 30/60mg/30mg, c/t, light WD. Sertraline June 2019 50mg ADR Clorazepate June 2019 20-15-10mg for 3 weeks then sparsely until 2022, 2 times per month max and very low dose (5mg) Clorazepate Jan2022 10mg 5 days 2,5mg 2 days then off Venlafaxine June 2019 75mg ADR, 17,5mg, titrated to 37,5mg Venlafaxine Jan 2022 Covid, hard ADR on 37,5mg, reduced to 20mg ADR, tried ct, crash, Venlafaxine 22Jan22 reinstated 9,4mg, too low/ 01Feb22- 12mg/ 12Feb- 11,25mg/ 16Feb- 11mg/ 20Feb- 10,8mg/ 24Feb22-10,575mg/ 16Mar22- 10,46mg/ 26Mar22- 10,35mg/ 26Apr22- 10mg/ 01Oct- 9,9mg/ 13Nov- 9,7mg 01Jan24-7,5mg MAR24 Due to another sudden intolerance had to fast taper venlafaxine to 1,14mg Seems like all of this time I was in benzo withdrawal, because when I took it now in desperation to help it made me feel worse, tried reinstatement first 1mg, then 0,05mg both made me feel worse. peaceandlove
I’m 18 months from my adverse reaction. I just recently took Metronidazole and then fluconazole right after for bladder infections. I’m pretty sure I messed myself up even more 🙃 I feel bed bound & ramped up symptoms of extreme anxiety. i only get a break at night time. I should have took the topical cream instead. Has anyone else took these antibiotics & bounced back from them? April 2022- Only 1 celxa pill 10mg had an adverse reaction & never took anymore again

Has anyone else took these antibiotics & bounced back from them? I a in the same situation... I was having a mini window at the beginning of December after months of stagnating recovery, but due to an aggressive foot infection I had to take different antibiotics via pills (augmentin and azhytromycin) and once via injection at the ER (ceftriaxone).. This crashed me a lot, I feel like at the beginning of my withdrawal, like 10 months of progress deleted, I feel so hopeless... June 2022: 100mg fluvoxamine, 2-3mg lorazepam July 2022: 100mg fluvoxamine, 3-4mg lorazepam Then cross-tapered lorazepam with pregabalin (up to 225mg) - mostly rebound anxiety and insomnia as withdrawals, but no severe symptoms. October 2022: 100mg fluvoxamine, 225 mg pregabalin, 0mg lorazepam Started tapering pregabalin to 0mg, completed in around a month without withdrawals. End of December 2022: Started fluvoxamine tapering: 1/8 reduction every 1-2 weeks. No severe withdrawals except fatigue. After stabilizing at 25mg for 2 weeks, started having huge improvements in anhedonia, mood and emotional numbness. Then went from 25mg to 12.5 and after a week to 0. Last dose of fluvoxamine: 6 March 2023 - following days irritability, stress. 5 Days after last dose got anhedonia and emotional numbness again, apathy and fatigue. I pray neither of us ever get an infection again. I hope you’re feeling somewhat better. Unfortunately I don't feel better, but I am not bedbound either. But all the symptoms got worse and now I struggle to work. I have an online business, and luckily I can set my own hours. I haven't worked much since the antibiotics. I also got the worse flu ever last week lol, our bodies are so weak now. I thought many times about selling my business and just take a couple years to recover and do nothing, I could have the privilege to do it. But my business it's the only thing that keeps my mind busy and helps the time pass faster June 2022: 100mg fluvoxamine, 2-3mg lorazepam July 2022: 100mg fluvoxamine, 3-4mg lorazepam Then cross-tapered lorazepam with pregabalin (up to 225mg) - mostly rebound anxiety and insomnia as withdrawals, but no severe symptoms. Prozack
Has anyone taken antibiotic Xifaxan (rifaximin)? It seems that I will have to take it for SIBO. ThatOneGirlStitch
@Prozack Hi. Was in the same situation. I did not take it. I opted for the more aggravating and safer long route. I'm sure you heard of the elemental diet. It is what a lot of dietitians recommended as an alternative. It is long, it is tedious and it was not easy- but I did not go into another withdrawal and my symptoms improved. It is also expensive, but you can make your own. I lived off of it completely for 2-3 months, then the diet + one meal for 1-2 months (to keep bowels moving) and then slowly reintroduced foods. Also took caprylic acid to keep away yeast as thrush is an issue on the diet. Bonus is it gives your gut a break to heal. My dietitian want me to but I did not take probiotics because I heard that was a risk from a few others. We have an imbalance of bacteria in our gut. It is a guess to see which ones to add. If you take ones that you are not lacking it can farther the imbalance so the theory goes. You can make guesses on what probiotics you need based on to your symptoms but it is only guesses. Some aid digestion, diarrhea, acid reflux, etc. If you already have a compromised gut more likely it is to go wrong. Ironically those are also the people who need it the most. Spore probiotics are the most stubborn. This is not a place to discuss the effects of probiotics so I wont get into it here. I wish you luck in what ever you choose.
