Are pharmacists permitted to change a doctor's prescription where you live?  Where I live, they have to call to get a revised prescription from the doctor's office.

 

Here's the information from the prescribing information about risperidone Consta:

 

 

After a single intramuscular (gluteal) injection of Risperdal Consta®, there is a small initial release of the drug (< 1% of the dose), followed by a lag time of 3 weeks. The main release of the drug starts from 3 weeks onward, is maintained from 4 to 6 weeks, and subsides by 7 weeks following the intramuscular (IM) injection.

Risperidone is extensively metabolized in the liver. The main metabolic pathway is through hydroxylation of risperidone to 9-hydroxyrisperidone by the enzyme, CYP 2D6. A minor metabolic pathway is through N-dealkylation. The main metabolite, 9-hydroxyrisperidone, has similar pharmacological activity as risperidone. Consequently, the clinical effect of the drug results from the combined concentrations of risperidone plus 9-hydroxyrisperidone.

 

The apparent half-life of risperidone plus 9-hydroxyrisperidone following Risperdal Consta® administration is 3 to 6 days, and is associated with a monoexponential decline in plasma concentrations. This half-life of 3–6 days is related to the erosion of the microspheres and subsequent absorption of risperidone. ... The elimination phase is complete approximately 7 to 8 weeks after the last injection.

 

What this means:

If you are going to notice a difference from the reduced dose, you won't notice it for 3 weeks because so little of the drug is released until then.

 

Please add risperidone consta, the dosage and the schedule to your signature.

Hi Scally,

 

where I live  they aren't permitted to change the doctor's  prescription.i will go  to that pharmacy one last time to give the 25mg prescription that I owe him and never again.

 

So I went to the homeopath and he prescribed some votanic herbs staphysagria drops and passiflora drops. Anyone with prior experience I just would like to know are these herbs considered to be psychotropic and have withdrawal. If I take them and then decide to quit them will they need tapering off and have acute W/S? Am I increasing my chances of getting withdrawal if I take them with the other meds?

These cost 24euro  from the pharmacy.

Since I started the staphysagria herb on Sunday my mood is low and feeling depressed during morning hours.The doctor homeopath said that the first 3 days with the homeopath herb feels not so good and then it improves but I doubt that.I will give it time until Sunday a week and if it doesnt improve Ill stop it. It changed my mood to a lot worse an also he's a bit expensive for an homeopath.

Day 6 on 1,5mg seroxat:. After 22 days on 2mg I decreased to 0,15ml. The first 2 days  had  mild mood but after it was  good and stable. Hope it continues that way.

Day 2 on 1,0mg seroxat: I've reached a goal, now 4 drops, so will be reducing by 1 drop each time.

 

Tomorrow I have an appointment with the pdoctor, will see how it goes.

I reduced to 1drop from 4 drops(1mg). It's the second day today.. Will hold for 30 days before I make the  transition to 0mg.

 

Being lucky that I didn't take cipralex as my doctor suggested 6 months ago to come off it more easily as changing over to a different drug can muddy the waters.

Update

 

I updosed to 2 drops from 1 drop seroxat this morning and this hepled me with the agitation and dizziness

I also took my pet my cat for a walk to the park and helped me get some fresh air..

Going from 4 drops (1 mg) to 1 drop (0.25 mg) is a large reduction. Increasing to 2 or 3 drops sounds like a wise decision. I hope that you'll hold at that dose for at least 3 weeks so that your CNS (central nervous system) can catch up to the changes.

Scally I'm not going to change anything as I need to stay focused and concentrated because I have an exam on Monday (chinese level 1).

 

The new doctor I've been going for 2 months , said to quit seroxat cold turkey , the dose is low so that there's no problem to quit it he said, and to replace risperdal with a new drug, paliperidin if I write it correctly. and I said no of course.The reason I keep contact with him is because he is in a hospital and I get the prescriptions from him free of charge.

To be honest this causes me some anxiety

I reduced to 1 drop seroxat  today and hopefully will be the last drop/reduction.. I had a bit of insomnia yesterday I was anxious because I have an appointment with an homeopath on Wednesday and slept from 11pm and I woke up at 5am and couldn't go back to sleep.

I went to the homeopath  he was asking very general questions, if I like sleeping on the right side or left, If I get colds often. The last 2 months I got 2 times igmoritis in my nose. btw, Some questions were weird though,  if I like the eggs overeasy or boiled. if I'm afraid of ghosts lol. what kind of food do I prefer, protein or carbohydrates/ fat. These type.

If you need help with the maths, please post here so that someone can assist you.  If you are using prescription liquid we will need to know what strength it is, ie mg per ml.  If you are making your own liquid from tablets or capsules please tell us what you are using.

I had vertigo due to igmoritis. I went to the doctor and gave me antibiotic.Its 2nd day and already feel better,no runny nose thanks mP

I feel that the seroxat got me in withdrawal. Two weeks have gone by since I took the last drop seroxat , the vertigo continues. If I wait to see if the  vertigo  will go away makes it a difficult choice. how many days ???If I wait, it may go away or I may miss my chance for effective reinstatement.

 

I read that “after a while after discontinuation, the nervous system changes and may no longer accept reinstatement of the drug to repair the withdrawal reaction. quite frequently, a very low dose will work to reduce withdrawal symptoms."

The last few mg of a taper are often the hardest and the taper needs to slow down. I would reinstate one drop of seroxat and hold for at least 6 weeks to stabilise again. When you restart the taper you will need to dilute the drops with water so you can take smaller amounts.

I went to the hospital to emergency care last week for the vertigo  I talked to a pathologist about the vertigo, and he told me that could be withdawal from seroxat, he wasnt sure he told me to take antivom for vertigo wait for 10days, as the vertigo contibnues I decided to reinstate to one drop of seroxat and will see.

 

I reinstated today 1 drop of seroxat. How many days it takes for it to have effect? 7 days?

It taked four days to reach a steady level in the blood. Hopefully you will feel a difference within a week.

Are you taking the drug for the vertigo? It would be better really not to start the two together, because if there is a problem you won't know which has caused it.
