Hello I a new to the site., Reaching out for some help. I was prescribed xanex a few years ago. Never abused it took it a few times a month for sleep. nothing else. Life changes occurred last September and I started taking it every night .50mg up until 1/13/15 I did a slow taper for a few weeks .25 then .125 the jumped. no physical symptons what so ever.

Well a month later I got very depressed. Doctor prescribed zyprexa. I took for a few weeks then I was getting worse. Went to see physcrist who then prescribed. Zoloft trazadone, I took the Zoloft for 2 days bad reactions stopped.

started proxac for 2 weeks bad reaction and while still continuing to take the trazadone to sleep .50 sometime 100.Checked into the hospital was so depressed they started me on remeron. Well needeless to the say the combination of both made me get more depressed more anxiety and started to scream and go crazay.

Needless to say by the end of the day my depression and anxiety panic lifited. I took that for a month stopped on 5/28. doctor then prescribed paxil and zypexa. I took for 4 days and decided that I wanted off all meds. For 3 weeks following up until Saturday I felt great. I felt like myself again. Now all of a sudden, depression and anxiety are back.

My question is. Do you think it is post acute withdraw creeping back in from the xanex or is some sort of a delayed withdrawal from the antidepressants. I did not have any physical symtons just mental

Welcome, Hunter.

I moved your topic to the Introductions forum. Please put all your questions about your situation in this topic, which is a kind of journal about your progress.

It sounds like you do not get along with antidepressants. If I were you, I'd look for non-drug ways, such as psychotherapy, to deal with your emotional issues.

This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner.

Hi Hunter

Welcome to SA

You have started and stopped so many drugs, it's difficult to say what might be happening for you.. I agree with Alto, I would look for non drug ways to address how you feel.

Can I ask you to complete a signature. The instructions are here http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/topic/893-please-put-your-withdrawal-history-in-your-signature/

Please note - I am not a medical practitioner and I do not give medical advice. I offer an opinion based on my own experiences, reading and discussion with others. On Effexor for 2 months at the start of 2005. Had extreme insomnia as an adverse reaction. Changed to mirtazapine. Have been trying to get off since mid 2008 with numerous failures including CTs and slow (but not slow enough tapers)Have slow tapered at 10 per cent or less for years. I have liquid mirtazapine made at a compounding chemist.

Was on 1.6 ml as at 19 March 2014.

Dropped to 1.5 ml 7 June 2014. Dropped to 1.4 in about September.

Dropped to 1.3 on 20 December 2014. Dropped to 1.2 in mid Jan 2015.

Dropped to 1 ml in late Feb 2015. I think my old medication had run out of puff so I tried 1ml when I got the new stuff and it seems to be going ok. Sleep has been good over the last week (as of 13/3/15).

Dropped to 1/2 ml 14/11/15 Fatigue still there as are memory and cognition problems. Sleep is patchy but liveable compared to what it has been in the past.

DRUG FREE - as at 1st May 2017

Oh it's proabably just your brain recalibrating from all the meds you have been taking.  You're going to feel your original symptoms again once the meds clear from  your system, and like the above posters indicated - it's essential that you figure out some way to address them that isn't medication related.  I would not be suprised if your depression is more powerful and your anxiety more debilitating for a while as your brain heals from the medication and learns to cope again.  It's frustrating, but important not to impulsively go back on medication, as it could just make your life much more difficult and give you a lot of side effects that sometimes don't go away.

Figure out a way to distract yourself, whether it be watching TV, going for walks, playing videogeames, etc etc.  Distraction is very effective in some cases.
