Congratulations on passing all of your exams. That is quite an accomplishment during withdrawal.  :)

 

I hope you get a break from school over the summer and can relax and heal.

Hey guys. I still like to visit this page because I know how much I used to hang on to every word of healing anybody had to offer. It's winter, and winter is always a bit of problem for me because of the lack of sunshine and the exam period at college started so my anxiety is quite an issue. But it is just that, anxiety. Not the terrible horror of withdrawal so, in a way I am glad. I think I can say now that I no longer suffer from wd symptoms only that of anxiety, which I had prior to my ssri nightmare. I am now researching the ways to heal myself without medication, currently reading Claire Weekes book and I am seriously thinking about purchasing some CBT workbooks from Amazon, so if you have any good suggestions, please let me know. :)

I also wanted to say that I worked last summer (seasonal work) and that's another win from me. Everything is seems like a win after the wd, right? But it makes us appreciate the little things. Always cheer on yourself and watch out for the self-pity. I also find myself falling down the self - pity hole, but in the end it's a waste of time and emotions, no? It's going to be better, and I truly believe that you are all very special humans, capable of great things, because suffering can change you for good if you let it!

CD off meds in July 2015, not on any medication since. Went through WD nightmare, now dealing with normal anxiety, but decided not to leave this forum yet because I want to support and give hope to others. ♡

When we take a psychiatric drug, we are adding chemical/s to the brain.  The brain then has to change to adapt to getting the chemical/s.  It might have to change something to do with A and then once that change has been made it affects B so another change has to be made and so on down the line.  It is a chain reaction, a domino effect.

 

The same thing happens when we take the drug away.  That's why it's possible to experience such a vast array of withdrawal symptoms, and they can change, and be of different intensity.

Understanding what is happening helps us to not get caught up with the second fear, or fear of the fear.  This happens when we experience sensations in our body and because we don't understand them we are scared of them and then start to panic.

Thank you so much! I've just finished reading that passage where Dr. Weekes was explaining the second fear. It's exactly what happens in an anxious mind but I reckon it's going to take me some time to get used to it. Sometimes I'm able to put it to practice, other times I fail. But, patience and practice is what you need when you're trying to 'rewire' your brain.

I love what you wrote in your signature. It certainly gives hope to others to see people are healing well. 

 

I’m sorry the anxiety is still bad though. I found the best thing for me when it comes to dealing with emotions, past traumas etc is FasterEFT. There are a heap of videos on YouTube, I also have a friend that is a practitioner. Just put 427 and FasterEFT into the YouTube search and it will give you the basics.

Hey @servadei how are you doing now?

did the despersonalization go away completely? Do you  feel connected to life now? And how long did it take for the DP to go away? :)
