Day 572

I slept as well as can be expected. I ended up with not needing any painkiller this morning- nice change of pace. And I noticed that I forgot to take my morning aminos. "Normally' going without them for this long results in anxiety attacks. So I'd say I'm getting very close to writing a success story.  I was a bit depressive upon awakening. But I'm feeling much better after my coffee along with breakfast.

1)Zoloft- 6/99 to 8/04 2)Escitalopram- 8/04 to 8/10 3)Citalopram 8/10 to 4/14 (C/T), 4)Paxil a week or so, 5)Wellbutrin a week or so, 6)Reinstated Citalopram- 9/14 to 7/15

Before Taper- Celexa/20 mg....Taper Start- 04/21/15- 15mg....05/26/15- 10 mg...06/22/15- 5 mg...07/18/15- 0mg. http://tinyurl.com/qjfoqe9 Ativan/Lorazepam use/taper 10/14 to 2/15- http://tinyurl.com/ljebp84

Baclofen- Intermittent use of from 2008 till 2014. Some use of Promethazine. Some use of Zofran. Clobetasol Propionate- for Lichen Planus. Some Flexeril use.

Ativan- GABA,A receptor Agonist., Baclofen- GABA,B receptor Agonist., Celexa/Lexapro- Serotonin 5-HT1A Receptor Agonist., Zofran- Serotonin 5-HT3 Receptor Agonist..Promethazine- Histamine H1-Receptor Antagonist. Flexeril- Serotonin 5HT2a Antagonist.

My self imposed Amino Acid Therapy: Tyrosine 500mg 1xday, Theanine 200 mg 1xday, & Taurine 500 mg 2x day. (All neurotransitter pre-cursors)- seems to have helped me immensely. And of course- eating healthy, including Black Beans for the oligosaccharides for gut health.

Day 573

Still a bit of nervousness upon sleeping in. But it's still shrinking both in level and duration.  Today- I had some serious amounts of milk in my coffee (at least 3 teaspoons) and I'm not paying for it!  I did have a bit of anxiousness later on, so on a lark- I took some dark chocolate- at least half a bar.  I savored it. It was....good.   End result- the buzz from the chocolate more than took care of the anxiety.

And I'm not feeling nasty several hours later.

Barring something unforeseen- I estimate being able to write my success story-soon.

1)Zoloft- 6/99 to 8/04 2)Escitalopram- 8/04 to 8/10 3)Citalopram 8/10 to 4/14 (C/T), 4)Paxil a week or so, 5)Wellbutrin a week or so, 6)Reinstated Citalopram- 9/14 to 7/15

Day 574

The day before yesterday I cried. I didn't really feel a need the way I had done so before- I wasn't royally stressed or anything. Yet I felt a bit of an urge to do so, and did. I felt better after. I've laughed several times over the weekend. Honest laughter, that I didn't have to force. It was such a good thing. It's good to enjoy things. Even if it's simple things. Especially if it's something simple.

I just get a bit of foreboding is all. That it's best to enjoy what I've got, right now.

1)Zoloft- 6/99 to 8/04 2)Escitalopram- 8/04 to 8/10 3)Citalopram 8/10 to 4/14 (C/T), 4)Paxil a week or so, 5)Wellbutrin a week or so, 6)Reinstated Citalopram- 9/14 to 7/15

Day 576

I ate a chocolate chip cookie this morning- no side effects noticeable from it. The difference being- that it was MILK chocolate.  I'll try some more of that kind of chocolate shortly- probably M & M's.

Another bout of Cortisol spike in the middle of the night.  But, despite it occurring, it took awhile for it to occur. I had a whole dream sequence run through.  And it took a short time for my heart to stop beating hard and go back to sleep.

I've been cranky and short tempered a lot of late. I'm not sure what's up with that.   Yesterday while driving- I missed two turn offs that I normally would turn at- because just for an instant too long I couldn't recognize them.

Day 577

Still no effects from eating chocolate.

Today I had an anxiety attack. Just one. Of about 3-4 minute duration.  I spent all day driving, picking something up, and driving back. It's good to network.  Totally exhausted.

Day 578

Neck pain still extant. Very persistent. Today I took a day off from work. I slept in and am goofing off. I just needed a "me" day. And it was nice to be able to sleep in. I think that sometime this extended weekend I will try some milk chocolate. I determined to get as close to normal diet as I can.

Day 579

Milk chocolate achieved. I think the biggest reaction was to the dye involved. I did eat some miso covered pork (wife's leftover) from a japanese ramen restaurant- and I got the nasty hiccups from that. But even that didn't last as long as it had before when I was on the anti-d's. A quarter of an hour tops, as opposed to hours long and a trip to the Acute Care.

1)Zoloft- 6/99 to 8/04 2)Escitalopram- 8/04 to 8/10 3)Citalopram 8/10 to 4/14 (C/T), 4)Paxil a week or so, 5)Wellbutrin a week or so, 6)Reinstated Citalopram- 9/14 to 7/15

Nice that you can play a bit "outside the sandbox" with minor, manageable consequences.  Enjoy!

Thanks. It's a good feeling.

Day 580

Last night I had pizza. The wife and I were eating at a place called Sizzle Pie before going to see a stage play- something involving Nightvale. Since I avoid dairy- I assumed that there wasn't anything available for me- but the wife pointed something out for me and I ordered it.  But as it turns out- it did have cheese on it.  I ate the crust, with the intention of letting her have the rest. But the slice smelled oh so good. So? What the Hell. I ate it. And it was SO GOOD.

The nice thing? No problems. No upset tummy. No diarrhea. No queasiness. No drowsiness.

Nice. I'll still be taking things easy on checking to see how far I can go on it. But it's a VERY nice feeling to find out that I can start to handle dairy again. And I had some cream with the coffee this morning; still no problems.

Day 581

Well so much for 'taking things easy'. Once again I took the bull by the horns.  I took the wife to "The Olive Garden' an Italian restaurant chain- and very little of what they make doesn't involve dairy.  I had something that was heavy on the dairy- (cheese). So far- no bad reactions.

And afterwards we saw the movie/play: Allegiance with George Takei.

I'm still getting some anxiety. But it's far smaller, less frequent, and much more easily dealt with.

1)Zoloft- 6/99 to 8/04 2)Escitalopram- 8/04 to 8/10 3)Citalopram 8/10 to 4/14 (C/T), 4)Paxil a week or so, 5)Wellbutrin a week or so, 6)Reinstated Citalopram- 9/14 to 7/15

Day 582

I tried a bottle of chocolate milk. So far-  a slight increase in gas. However, I did have some diarrhea- but that started before I had the milk. And it could easily be attached to the Thai food my wife and I had yesterday.

Perhaps sometime in the next week or two I will indulge in some ice cream. It just occurred to me that I can now eat such wonderfully fattening foods like cream cheese- and thus Cheese cake- my old nemesis.

A light nervousness this morning- I did not care for getting up so early. But bills must be paid. The mental discomfort was easily overcome.

1)Zoloft- 6/99 to 8/04 2)Escitalopram- 8/04 to 8/10 3)Citalopram 8/10 to 4/14 (C/T), 4)Paxil a week or so, 5)Wellbutrin a week or so, 6)Reinstated Citalopram- 9/14 to 7/15

Day 583

Ice Cream. I've not tried any yet. Though I may have to soon as I've still not had any reactions to the milk I drank yesterday. But first- I will have to check out what is available at the store. I do believe that there was something there I REALLY wanted, but I cannot remember what it was.

Whatever it was I imagine that it won't last long.

I'm still getting an intermittent sleeping satisfaction- but even the middle of the night cortisol spikes have been decreasing both in intensity and frequency. Though I have to admit- coming back to work after a 4 day weekend definitely caused me a bit of stress and an increase in symptoms- but nothing untowards. Eventually even that will be dissolved.

I'm gonna call it all good- in 17 days. On Day 600. Time to start coming up with a draft for the Success Story.

1)Zoloft- 6/99 to 8/04 2)Escitalopram- 8/04 to 8/10 3)Citalopram 8/10 to 4/14 (C/T), 4)Paxil a week or so, 5)Wellbutrin a week or so, 6)Reinstated Citalopram- 9/14 to 7/15

Day 584

A bit of mania today. Or indigestion after 'debating' with a moron on the net. One of the two.

A bit of a flare up- some anxiety suppression, some attention diversion, and now I feel pretty good.

I just rediscovered some chocolate I had stashed in my desk. I can eat it now. YAY!

Day 585

A few more anxiety episodes. They've been at a level between 1/4 to 1/3 the old level of distraction. But they don't last anywhere near as long- minutes at best. At this point- they're merely annoyances- similar to a mosquito's buzz.

I've also discovered the side effect of eating cheese- which I will describe in one word: Bricks.

1)Zoloft- 6/99 to 8/04 2)Escitalopram- 8/04 to 8/10 3)Citalopram 8/10 to 4/14 (C/T), 4)Paxil a week or so, 5)Wellbutrin a week or so, 6)Reinstated Citalopram- 9/14 to 7/15

Hi Rockingchaircat, sorry to but in here, but I've tracked you down through the Benzo forum. THANK GOD you're still active, because most people that I am intrigued to get in contact with haven't been online in quiet a while.

Coincidentally I was on this forum initially, but couldn't find much activity, and the search function wasn't returning many posts with people talking about my main symptom(s).

I found your post from Benzobuddies: "Can you stand in one spot without your body swaying back and forth?

Can you take a shower without holding on to the wall with either arm you're not having to use while washing body and hair?

Can you bend move or function all limbs without your limbs shaking? Bad shaking, or just mild, all over or just one or a few?

Can you stand with your eyes closed?

Can you walk in the dark, or dim light?

Does your heart pound hard and rock your entire body- not necessarily fast- but just hard like standing for a few seconds is just to much on you?

How is your coordination, literal hands, feet, legs, arms, whatever!

I want to hear this groups physical symptoms - before medication, during, after, you name...yeah we're all different-------but it would help others to hear......all I seem to hear are mental anxiety symptoms........and I know there is a fine line- sometimes we don;t know what is mental anxiety causing physical symptoms, or the reciprocal....

please share !

Physical symptoms that I have had, or occasionally still do:

Some swaying, particularly when I get up in the morning after the sleep. I find myself leaning against the shower wall to avoid an ER trip. During my W/D hand shakes were quite common.  I still find my skin and eyes are sensitive to direct sunlight. When I step into direct sunlight- my skin feels it like a sunburn.  And a weird thing- in Foggy Weather, my Cog Fog flares up something fierce!"

Do you have those symptoms of swaying back and forth slightly? It happens to be in sync with your heart beat? Do you occasionally feel like your feet are moving up and down? It becomes more prominent sitting at a desk or table or if I'm sitting upright with no back support. Even leaning against the kitchen counter gives me a horrible undulating and rocking. Have you heard others with this? I can't find many that were on AD's. As you seen I've only been on one AD, no benzo.

I'm assuming you're wanting me to answer:

"Can you stand in one spot without your body swaying back and forth?

Now- yes. During my early withdrawal- No. In fact I had a hard time occasionally with not being able to not sway while sitting down.

Can you take a shower without holding on to the wall with either arm you're not having to use while washing body and hair?

It's only in the last few months that I've been able to stand in the shower without leaning up against the wall.

Can you bend move or function all limbs without your limbs shaking? Bad shaking, or just mild, all over or just one or a few?

Bad at first- eventually mild, with just the occasional myoclonic jerk now and again- now.

Can you stand with your eyes closed?

Yes, now. With only the occasional bit of vertigo.

Can you walk in the dark, or dim light?

Quite often, and the number of bruises I get from such have decreased- but not been eliminated.

Does your heart pound hard and rock your entire body- not necessarily fast- but just hard like standing for a few seconds is just too much on you?

Initially yes- but I've found that weight training exercise helps to minimize it.

How is your coordination, literal hands, feet, legs, arms, whatever!

Mostly good- though often in the morning after waking up I find it difficult to type coherently. If I get upset or am tired- forget it. I'm all thumbs or left feet.

It's been so long, but I cannot remember what it was like before the meds. If anything else my coordination has plummeted since getting off of them, and am now only starting to get better (somewhat) after my long withdrawal period.

My cog fog definitely lasted a long time.  It got much worse during actually foggy conditions outside- (weird huh?). There was something about trying to focus on things in the fog that made it very difficult to think.

Do you have those symptoms of swaying back and forth slightly? It happens to be in sync with your heart beat? Do you occasionally feel like your feet are moving up and down? My symptoms still occasionally include the swaying. Not always with my heart beat. I've had the swaying in a slow circle even though my heart was beating like a hummingbird. For me it's mostly while standing too long. Extreme fatigue brings it out.

Day 586

It's good to lay about in the morning. Even if I all I end  up doing is cat napping. Still, it's better than the old daze wherein I lay there in fear. Thankfully I've not gone hog wild with eating foods I couldn't eat during my withdrawal. Otherwise- I'd be loosening my belt.

I was hungry after noon. It'd been awhile since I'd eaten. But it wasn't the 'HUNGER' of starving to death. It was the hunger of "I really should get something to eat". An option, not a necessity. I ate half a sub sandwich- and I was good. Thinking back during my pill days- it'd be wolf down the entire thing, guzzle the drink, cram the cookies, and still not have a feeling of satisfaction.

Day 587

I had a cheese omelette for breakfast. And pancakes with butter. Oooh did I pay. But not like as before. I felt like I had a bit of flu rush through. It took about an hour and I felt better. I took the time to see the Lego Batman movie with the wife and Kid... the Kid enjoyed it.

Day 588

Restless leg sensation last night- the usual, fall asleep, wake up after a few minutes and stare at the ceiling- slight urge to shake leg, for the next hour. It wasn't a very powerful urge, but none the less, it was there.

This morning- cranky. I'm clumsy as all get down, and there are several instances where I need to do things over and over again because I simply cannot get things done correctly the first time around. i could really use a vacation (again).

Day 589

I had a major meltdown yesterday afternoon. For some unknown reason I just got the notion that life was picking on me relentlessly. They say that you shouldn't sweat the small stuff. But then there is also the saying: that no drop of water feels responsible for the flood. And yesterday being not only a Monday, but also an infuriatingly frustrating day on the job, with family problems, financial problems, and health problems, not to mention my truck is starting to make funny noises...and I'd swear that the laws of physics were being violated in an effort to pick on me...

Not quite berserk- but a lie down on the kitchen floor and scream/cry hysterically for many minutes and then stare off into space for a half hour. And today it's more of the same kind of relentless B.S. So many things I want to do, but as always cannot because I'm in withdrawal. Aches and pains (always a new one to deal with). And the few remaining options for release is denied. But the torment continues regardless.

I think it's at the level where even crying doesn't do any good.  I'm wanting to lash out at someone anyone. Because I'm just damn tired of the torment. Yes yes yes, it's at a very small level now- easily endured. Or it would be if I was at the start of all this. But I'm not- I'm approaching the 3 year mark of this all. And like a recalcitrant child that refuses to clean her room, I have to outstubborn her. And I've done that: Out stubborn the kid. No not hit, never that. Just put up with the seemingly endless energy devoted to NOT doing what needs to be done. Until the kid decides to stop fighting the cleaning of her room and simply cleans her room.  Because cleaning her room would've taken a fraction of the energy and time.

THAT- is the sense I get from my brain's refusal to adapt to not having a pill.

Haven't you been colouring outside the lines a bit in your eating? Could that be a contributor to yesterday's meltdown?

Possibly.

Day 590

Today in addition to the short temper I also managed to develop a raging and a painkiller resistant headache in addition to a fever.  The problem with the possibility of colouring outside the lines: The short temper seems to persist even when I'm NOT eating unusual.  In fact the last time I had dairy- was sunday morning. And it wasn't until an almost full 24 hours later that the short temper started up.

I'll keep an eye on it.

I just read an article that stated that Subway's Chicken sandwich chicken meat isn't all chicken, in fact it's made up of at least 50% soy. Of which (soy) is something that I'm heavily allergic to.

And i'll give you three guesses what I had for dinner Sunday Night?

Day 591

I'm still a bit short tempered, but it's no where as near intense as it was a couple of days ago. I've not touched dairy in several days. Wait and see. I have noticed that I have been sleeping awfully hard of late. I went to bed early last night- yet my sleeps are filled with intense dreaming. I find myself still waking up in the middle of the night- but it's still fairly easy to go back to sleep and/or doze. Yet for all of the slightly more sleep I'm finding myself extra sleepy today. Not the anxiety induced fatigue- just a general sleepiness.

The overactive bladder comes and goes. And I'm not getting  up quite so often in the middle of the night- or for that matter, during the day.

My rage could be that I'm just damaged from the length of my withdrawal. It'd be one thing if this was but the only time I've had an intense time of pain and suffering in my existence- it's not. It's more of my 4th time, and the most intense and the longest lasting.

I am so ready for some vacation time. And I've scheduled myself some vacation time in April.

Day 593

The last dream of this morning- had subtitles. Yeah- weird. I remember reading them- it was English, but a mixture of words that meant nothing. White letters- bottom of the mind's eye. It was certainly quite nice to just ...lay in bed without the 'need' to get up.

Day 594

A rather pleasant morning. NO cortisol spikes in the morning. My eyes were free of bloodshot ( I remembered to check ), it was good to doze in this morning.  I wasn't 'super' hungry, I lasted just fine till we arrived at the restaurant. My eyes didn't go blurry and I was in a genuine good mood. It was while I was finishing up my Canadian Bacon and nibbling on my apple waffle that I realized- that it was all worth it.

Every last bit of anger, anxiety, difficulty- it was all worth it.

Last night I opened up a pint of Cherry Garcia ice cream. I enjoyed it. And better yet- I put away back into the fridge- Half of it! It's a weird sensation to achieve satiation.

Wowzers.

Day 595

Tired. And cold. There is something to be said for getting over an extended cold/sickness. I just cannot remember what right now. Hey, maybe I'll be getting some energy back soon. Nasty weather today- all the big fluffy snow coming down made it most difficult to drive into work before dawn. It's easy for a body to get used to dozing in for a couple extra hours in the morning. Mayhap I'll get to catch up on some sleep next month.

I think I'm losing weight. I washed up some old cotton jeans- and they were still loose on me after they dried out. Weird. I'm still getting what I think is anxiety now and again, but they don't last for long and they're not that intense.

Day 596

A very persistent headache between my eyes. So far I've managed to forget my personal cell phone at home, forget my car keys at least once, forget to lock a door, forget to take something out of maintenance bypass, and managed to drop my work cell phone 'just so' in that it bounced off of the ground and knocked both it's covers off and the battery went flying. And it's not even noon yet.

I took some painkiller and am waiting for it to kick in. The scalding hot tea I picked up at the gas station managed to spill itself twice on my fingers. But in all of this I've not managed to lose my temper.

And that god damned cat STILL insists on giving me a wake up call an hour before my wake up time by scratching on my bedroom door. It's like he's on Daylight Savings Time before I am.  He keeps this up, he'll get a 'specially made' can of cat food.

Day 597

I went to bed early last night, and ended up staring at the ceiling for most of the night. Along with some restless leg urge. Just what I needed to feel even more out of sorts. But at least I didn't end up needing some pain killer like I did yesterday. Now, I'm just tired. You know it'd be awfully nice to get over a cold and to stay over it.

Day 598

A bit better morning. It helps to get a halfway decent night's sleep, even if one does wake up occasionally with a plugged up nose. A mild headache headed off at the pass with some painkiller and I'm feeling ok. OK, is great, in comparison with an extremely persistent blah feeling.

I had another dream with subtitles. This time it was with a character speaking. I'm beginning to wonder if perhaps I'm sleep walking and watching TV or some such. Yet there are no indications of such anywhere.

Day 599

A bit of the restless leg urge last night. It comes and goes. But even that is tapering. It didn't last as long, and it wasn't as intense. I fell asleep a couple of times during. And I still managed to get a halfway decent night's sleep out of it all.

I realized last night- I can drink Bubble Tea again. I'm gonna try that soon. I can eat (some) salad dressings - provided I check them for soy oil first. Something else to try.

Last night I worked a bit on crying. I contemplated a movie scene that upset me enough to make my eyes moist- and kept at it till I ALMOST had a tear flow over one of my eyelids. Still not there, but it's a task I'll be working on till the water works flow freely. It may not be 'manly', but it does help relieve me some stress.

Oh I'm out of the woods, but the occasional tree can still be seen passing by as I continue my journey.

I was wondering if you were still dealing with the smell hallucinations.  I have had them for 16 months after coming off Prozac.  It seems to be a uncommon w/d symptom in A/D withdrawal.

Discontinued Fluoxetine cold turkey after taking it for 12 years. Stopped taking Fluoxetine in August 2015.

My current withdrawal symptoms: Itchy skin, smell hallucination, hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, and anxiety.

Occasionally I do get something.

About maybe once a week or so for sure. Now a days it's difficult to be absolutely sure- because my nose is so sensitive naturally.  But I know for sure when I smell something totally weird when I'm sitting in an enclosed space with nobody around- and WHAM!  Something pungent.
