Psychologist Paula J. Caplan talks about the abuse of veterans by psychiatry

Since a few articles have been posted lately about how dangerously ineffective antipsychotics are for treating PTSD in veterans, I thought this youtube video would be most fitting. It's a video of a talk given by psychologist and veterans' rights activist Paula Caplan, which took place at a recent psychiatric reform conference. I attended this lecture and I can tell you Paula is a powerhouse: compassionate yet tough, humble, genuine, and smart as a whip. Her understanding of just what veterans go through and how horrifically they are mistreated by a corrupt psychiatric infrastructure is almost overwhelming at times. Indeed, the talk is highly emotional stuff (as it should be). I knew the soldiers were getting hammered, but I had no idea it was this bad.

Her talk is so good you don't have to be a veteran (or even know one) to have it resonate with you. I'm sure her talk of the soldiers' sense of betrayal by their country and their loss of innocence will ring VERY true for everyone on this board who has been betrayed by their trusted physicians and have lost large chunks of their formative years to these pills.

What a relief to hear she's talking to people who understand how traumatizing it is for grieving veterans to get labeled with a mental illness and whipped around with drugs.

This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner.

No kidding! She's great and I'm glad there's someone out there who understands the situation as well as she does lobbying for humane mental health treatment of vets.
