Vote to point SAMHSA in the right direction

SAMHSA, the US government's Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, collects "stakeholder feedback" in the form of votes on these Web pages.

While SAMHSA recognizes patients as its "stakeholders," it has been curiously resistant to the idea that so-called mental illness might be better treated by non-drug means. Last year, it extended an invitation to Robert Whitaker to speak at a national conference, then rescinded the invitation, then when there was public outcry, permitted him to speak in a highly restricted format.

Registration on this site is free and you get 10 votes to distribute on any topic. When you register, you also get access to sending SAMHSA messages.

Some worthwhile suggestions to vote for:

This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner.

Vote for this today -- it's the last day to vote on the Definition of Recovery:

"Mental health recovery means eliminating dependence on legal drugs and living autonomously." http://uservoice.com/a/ixk8d
