AliG
Hi Santino. I'm also sorry that things aren't going so well right now. Life stress can exacerbate symptoms but don't let it throw you. You have been doing well and making progress. You are down to 0.05 mg. Is that correct? Please be extra careful during this time and watch both with your stress levels and your taper. You are at the pointy end of your taper but it's not over yet and even after 0 it will probably take a while to really even off, fully. You are right to hold tight and preserve stability... you have come a long way. Keep it up. Best wishes, Ali Edited November 9, 2017 by AliG dose change Many SSRI's and SSNRI's over 20 years. powerback
Hi Santino, dealing with life and work with what's going on can be so tough ,I myself have lost the ability to communicate with the world in this process ,a year ago withdrawal ripped me apart and I haven't worked properly since .the point I want to make is ,as hard as it is dealing with toxic people in this process is ,not working cant be an option ,getting up and doing something is extremely underrated until you experience it and its horrendous not working in my opinion . learn all the techniques you can to deal with these two toxic characters ,use daily mindfulness to ground yourself and take plenty of timeout and distraction to relax .maybe on the bad days remember everyone here is rooting for each other and wishing the best for lifes obstacles that are multiplied by withdrawl .even journal to get the thoughts out of your head . I have felt like a weak willed kitten around fellow employees in a very macho industry this year and its horrible ,it got so bad my brain shut down in a panic and I left that day and have had to face a person since that was there ,very embarrassing but I didn't ask for this withdrawl so we got to keep pushing on . Take care PB Alcohol free since February 2015 1MG diazepam 4.5MG PROZAC. Link to comment
Moderator Emeritus Santino Posted November 9, 2017 Author Moderator Emeritus Share Posted November 9, 2017 HI Ali G Thanks a lot for your response my friend. It means too much for me. I am having a tough time currently due to the instability related to work decisions. Yes my current dose is 0.05 mg which is translated into a 15Mg pill every 300 days... :-) If it was for the doctors i am crazy that i do not stop right now but as far as me is concerned i will continue some more as i have nothing to loose if i continue with this crumb for some more time. I planned to stop end of october but i do not mind postponing it to end of December. I am trying to be positive but there ups and downs and a lot of rumination at particular days my friend. I missed sleep for two days and that scared me again but luckily it came back so i understood it was just a bump. HI Powerback I totally relate my friend. Some times we anticipate the worst as our system is already delicate. In the process we exaggerate things but important as you say is to go on. I am not saying that if i go off this work i will stop working my friend. I have a small hotel at my hometown but my wife has a career in the capital so her and my son does not like to move at my hometown with me. So i still have a last resort in case i will not be able to keep the things together at my work place. Let's see. For the moment things are not so good, but as i have good days in between i think i might be in a sort of wave as well. Let's hope it will pass. Good luck to both of you and Thanks once more for your lovely advises. They re really worth a lot to me. Moderator Emeritus Santino Posted November 24, 2017 Author Moderator Emeritus Share Posted November 24, 2017 HI Friends After one month on 0.05Mg i decided to go into my last measurable dose 0.025Mg. I am intending that after a maximum of one month at this dose to stop on New Year's Eve. I want 2018 to find me with no Remeron on my system. Things are not very bright but are better. Being at this dose means I am taking my daily dose of July 2016 in 600 days. I guess this is something i need to be proud off. Thanks to everybody for your support. The fight goes on. Moderator Emeritus Santino Posted December 11, 2017 Author Moderator Emeritus Share Posted December 11, 2017 Hi Friends... Just a short update from my "fighting front"... :-) Today is my sixth day after five nights on no MIRT on my system. I continue to be somehow OK but not able to face a lot of stress. Work situation continues to be ambiguous and it cause big problems on my motivation and brain fatigue on particular days. Anyway i am pushing forward. Happy that i still can fall asleep with no mirt on my system... and happy that i am still continuing to function even after all of these problems. So far on specific days i go even up to 90% but most of the days i am at a 70 - 75% level of normalcy. I am hoping things will be OK. Fingers crossed. Hibari
This is great news Santino! What a journey you have been on and you are now on the other side. Yes, there will probably be continued symptoms because as you know the remaining medication has to leave your system. T You have done it my friend and I know you will get better and better as you continue healing. Maybe some ups and downs but the body does want to move towards health. Moderator brassmonkey Posted December 11, 2017 Moderator Share Posted December 11, 2017 Congratulations on making the jump to "0". You've done such a nice taper there shouldn't be many problems. Making the jump doesn't mean that things instantly clear up, but they will continue to get better and better. Don't be too surprised if there are some big swings up and down as you body still has a lot of sorting out to do. The trick is to not panic if there is a down turn for a few days, it's all part of the continued healing. 20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013. Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks. The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better. Final Dose 0.016mg. Moderator Emeritus Santino Posted December 12, 2017 Author Moderator Emeritus Share Posted December 12, 2017 Dear Hibari and Brassmonkey Thanks a lot for your lovely comments and reassurance. It is great to know that i can function without the need of some dreadfull medicine. Anyway the last two days i have not felt very good. During lunch time i start to have a general fatigue feeling accompanied by that full brain feeling where you can not think properly and any task becomes sooo tough to handle. Have you also experienced that feeling my friends...? Is it normal...??? As two days ago while i was for a short trip to Switzerland i had almost no symptoms at all. I know much of it is tied with my work situation and a lot of things that i am currently handling but anyway this feeling tends to scare me. Moderator brassmonkey Posted December 12, 2017 Moderator Share Posted December 12, 2017 For many years, most of my working life, I took a 20 minute nap at lunch every day. It really helped reset my body for the afternoon. These sound like some pretty natural reactions with some residual WD thrown in. I noticed that I got really tired at mid day after I reached "0" but it's slowly getting better. The whole tapering experience takes such a toll on the body it will take a while to rebuild our strength. Hibari
My head was very foggy after I stopped Mirtazapine and it continued for a couple of weeks-some days less, some more. I also was very tired. It did get better. Even though I am still tapering Lamictal, my mind is now sharper than it has been in a few years. Still tired but that's from the Lamictal. You will come through this Santino and try to worry to much (it's hard). You still are recovering and it will take more time for your body to get back in balance. Mentor Happy2Heal Posted December 23, 2017 Mentor Share Posted December 23, 2017 great update Santino! I hope things only continue to get better and better for you pysch med history: 1974 @ age 18 to Oct 2017 (approx 43 yrs total) Drug list: stelazine, haldol, elavil, lithium, zoloft, celexa, lexapro(doses as high as 40mgs), klonopin, ambien, seroquel(high doses), depakote, zyprexa, lamictal- plus brief trials of dozens of other psych meds over the years started lexapro 2002, dose varied from 20mgs to 40mgs. First attempt to get off it was 2007- WD symptoms were mistaken for "relapse". 2013 too fast taper down to 5mg but WD forced me back to 20mgs June of 2105, tapered again too rapidly to 2.5mgs by Dec 2015. Found SA, held at 2.5 mgs til May 2016 when I foolishly "jumped off". felt ok until Sept, then acute WD hit!! reinstated at 0.3mgs in Oct. 2106 Tapered off to zero by Oct. 2017 Doing very well. Nov. 2018 feel 95% healed, age 63 Jan. 2020 feel 100% healed, peaceful and content Dec 2023 Loving life! ❤️ with all it's ups and downs Link to comment

Moderator Emeritus Santino Posted January 8, 2018 Author Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 8, 2018 HI friends A short update for the New Year. I am free of Mirt since 6th of December. This in itself is a great feeling. Anyway on the emotional side, even though i feel stable i still have short waves of one day or two where my mind and thinking still go on over spin and i tend to get panicked. Anyway not out of proportion as i still am able to properly manage my self. Things at work continue to be tough and i am continuing to suffer a little bit. Anyway i am trying to pick up my self and strength in order to face the reality. I have a lot going on in my life and sometimes i feel scared things are happening in exactly this moment of my life. I am not also able to accept selfish behavior from people around me and this creates a lot of bad feelings about the current reality and the future. Anyway i hope i will prevail so i am continuing to fight for my kids. There are surely days when i feel good and positive and this gives me hope. On the other side i am just taking Magnesium at night and Vit D and Omega 3 in the morning. Soon i will start tapering magnesium as well... of course not as slow as Mirt but as far as i have heard some cautious approach is needed for that as well. Hibari
Thanks for the update Santino. You are making your way through all of this and there will be days of ups and downs. I have found that I cannot tolerate chaotic or selfish behavior in anybody anymore and for me that has been the gift of coming of medications. It has taught me so much about self-care. I have found that when you are taking care of yourself (other than children) can become upset that you no longer want to focus on their needs. I think it's health to no longer want those people around you or at least have a strong boundary. Wishing you continued healing. 9/2013-4/2014: After moms death, was prescribed a series of meds for short periods of time that didn't work. Moderator Emeritus Santino Posted January 15, 2018 Author Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 15, 2018 HI Friends.... Another update at the 40th day OFF MIRT. Life continues more stable and i am able to handle stress better. I think my CNS has had the time to readjust and things are getting better. Sleep is natural and good most of the nights. IN case of some stress and rumination a strong tea of Linden a chamomile helps but that is just once per week maximum. Even on the nights i do not sleep properly due to my daughter's health i am still not scared from the day ahead when the morning comes. Lack of motivation is there but i am trying to push through it. Apart from this i now see that my old stubborn me is coming out again. Now i am not scared to death from even simple decisions and i am not running under the sheets. Now i am able to face my decisions even they might cause big changes. That is i assume a good sign. My old me reappearing. Physically the only problem so far is the stuffed up nose... and inability to feel smells due to the antihistamine effect of the mirt. Anyway the senses are slowly coming back. I have days when i can feel the aromas so it shows that my body is fixing itself. I am thankful for this group. I would have been a unsuccessful attempt with a box of AD-s with me in case i would not have found this group on time. Thanks guys and i will be here with my updates until the time comes to write my success story. Martina23
8 hours ago, Santino said: HI Friends.... All the best Santino Great update. I keep my fingers crossed for you that everything continues so well as it is now. 05/2013 Lyrica 100 mg / per day for pain + PGAD resulting from caesarian delivery11/2014 started to taper: 50 mg per day/ for one week then c/tafter one month reinstated at 50 mg /per days of 10 July 2015 drug free- symptoms OCD Link to comment

LinLina
Hi Santino I am following your updates and I am very happy to see you're off mirtazapine and recovering :-) Lorazepam: took a daily dose of 1,5 mg for 2-3 months in Summer 2014 because of PTSD, adverse reaction to antibiotics, heavy muscle pain and a surgery. Tapered 4 months, which was a bit fast and very difficult, but I made it and recovered within a few weeks after the final dose. Benzo-free since February 2015.Mirtazapine: Was put on 30 mg for "easing the Benzo-withdrawal" from November 2014 - March 2015. Bad mistake, getting off Mirtazapine seems to be even more difficult for me. Started a slow taper in April 2015. Moderator Emeritus Santino Posted February 20, 2018 Author Moderator Emeritus Share Posted February 20, 2018 Time for a short update friends... Free from Mirtazapine since 6th of December 2017. Gladly i notice that my sleep has almost returned to a normal natural sleep with 7 hours almost every night with just one wake up in between. Fatigue is not there anymore. I can get involved in meetings and discussion with people without anxiety and almost as normal as before. I can plan ahead as I already have a sense of normalcy without the fear that the next day i will wake up scared to the bone. I can tolerate cofee and a glass of wine in very very rare cases. Apart from normal life problems i can feel happiness again and this is pushing me forward. Very soon i am thinking of writing my success story... Quitting the doctors and quitting the Mirt was the best decision i have ever done in my life. I am thankful to all the guys who commented in my topic on my worse moments and kept me concentrated on the best way to solve my situation. Love you all guys and keep continuing your fights. There is a very big light in the end of the tunnel and i can prove it.
