"Can today's crisis in mental health be seen as the result of neoliberalism? We asked the panelists to reflect on the aftermath of the 2007/08 financial crisis and the austerity policies which followed, but then to engage with how the slashing of expenditure on public services and increase in private debt has been met with questions around whether these factors are exacerbating mental health problems. This event titled, ‘Mental Health and Neoliberalism’, sought to situate the growing awareness of psychological distress in relation to such exogenous cultural and economic structures of oppression, but also examine how new technologies may be amplifying certain self-obsessive psychological states, such as attention and feedback addiction from social media and mobile devices. Each speaker gave a presentation of their research on this topic, before engaging in a Q&A with the audience."

More than two million people in the United States have a diagnosis of schizophrenia, and the treatment for most of them mainly involves strong doses of antipsychotic drugs that blunt hallucinations and delusions but can come with unbearable side effects, like severe weight gain or debilitating tremors.

Now, results of a landmark government-funded study call that approach into question. The findings, from by far the most rigorous trial to date conducted in the United States, concluded that schizophrenia patients who received smaller doses of antipsychotic medication and a bigger emphasis on one-on-one talk therapy and family support made greater strides in recovery over the first two years of treatment than patients who got the usual drug-focused care.

MIA's Article on all this -

Results of a large government-funded study call into question current drug heavy approaches to treating people diagnosed with schizophrenia. The study, which the New York Times called “by far the most rigorous trial to date conducted in the United States,” found that patients who received smaller doses of antipsychotic drugs with individual talk therapy, family training, and support for employment and education had a greater reduction in symptoms as well as increases in quality of life, and participation in work and school than those receiving the current standard of care.

This is an ideal, but i like the description -

How therapy works -

www.brantcortright.com/howtherapyworks.html

Therapy creates a safe, accepting atmosphere to explore our life. The quality of the therapeutic relationship is crucial: just as our wounding occurred in relationship, so healing occurs in relationship as well. No one can do this alone. We can’t see our own defenses because they are unconscious. Everyone needs another person skilled in understanding unconscious defenses in order to work through them.

I view psychological healing within the larger context of spiritual unfolding. It is a journey into the painful shadows of the psyche in which we discover our hidden light. Psychotherapy generally begins in some kind of pain or baffling lack of fulfillment. Although the person may be outwardly successful, inwardly there are struggles in things such as relationship, intimacy, health, stress, meaningful work, compulsions, anxiety, depression. In the context of a healing therapeutic relationship, the “night sea journey” of therapy leads from pain, frustration, and fragmentation to increasing enjoyment, vitality, and wholeness. It is a movement from alienation or isolation to authenticity and greater connection, from a shaky sense of self and self-esteem to feeling centered and valued, from darkness to light.

Therapy stands on three legs, each of which provides an important window into the psyche:

Our current life situation
Our past relationships and family wounding
The client/therapist relationship

Current psychotherapy research emphasizes the importance of the body’s actual, felt sense as key to getting out of our heads and into our lived experience. Following our heart’s deeper guidance leads us within.

Wrapped in the dark camouflage of our wounds lie jewels, waiting to be discovered. Drawing on the psycho-spiritual wisdom of east and west, a relational, embodied approach to psychotherapy allows us to touch our tender, wounded sides for healing and growth, leading to a life of deep relationships with others, creativity, meaningful work that engages our skills and talents, and connection to our deepest spiritual center.

Michael Guy Thompson: The Legacy Of RD Laing

"Is breakdown really breakthrough? Should unhappy people be made to adjust to a mad society? Scottish psychiatrist R.D. Laing made a huge cultural impact, shaping the psychiatric survivor movement and offering a psychological critique of social conventions in a time of the Vietnam War and the 60s. How are Laing’s revolutionary insights about the family and culture still relevant today?

Michael Guy Thompson, a psychoanalyst and founder of the Gnosis Retreat Center, worked with R.D. Laing in London and has created hospital alternative sanctuaries for people struggling with experiences called psychosis."

Very short summation of some Theosophical ideas -

"Our essence is beyond space and time, aware of itself as a part of infinity. I'll call this Spirit

This essence puts a very small part of itself - the soul - into the world of space and time, incarnation, and so develops its consciousness through experiencing duality.
After hundreds or even thousands of incarnations, the soul is ready to merge into its spirit and continue its evolution in worlds beyond our imagination.

The soul itself creates another layer - the personality or ego - which is the vehicle of consciousness for the soul in one particular life time.

In Western culture the soul is strongly encouraged to forget its own identity, and to identify itself solely with its personality. This makes for a cheap, obedient workforce.

Spiritual emergence in this model occurs when identification with the personality/ego is broken, even for only a moment. The personality/ego has to come to terms with the realisation that there is much more to life than it had realised (made real).

Once this limited identification is broken, the ego will desire to return to its old way of life, yet usually has to concede it has a bigger purpose than it wants to know about. Consensual reality no longer works for it, so it must experiment and create a larger map of reality.

Often ego inflation occurs at this stage. The ego has a strong sense of separation, yet has had a glimpse of the immensity of the universal mind. It may then decide it is the messiah or God or a chosen saviour. As a spirit, it is indeed God, however as a soul and ego, it is still evolving to become God incarnate.

A spiritual emergence is a part of the evolutionary process when awareness shifts from ego to soul. With mindfulness, we can observe if our thoughts, emotions and actions arise from our ego - that strong sense of a separate me - or from the soul.

Eventually, the ego has had enough of suffering, and is ready to accept it is a part of a much greater being than it believed itself to be, and to be grateful for that."

The etheric body, ether-body, æther body, a name given by neo-Theosophy to a vital body or subtle body propounded in esoteric philosophies as the first or lowest layer in the "human energy field" or aura. It is said to be in immediate contact with the physical body, to sustain it and connect it with "higher" bodies.

The English term "etheric" in this context seems to derive from the Theosophical writings of Madame Blavatsky, but its use was formalised by C.W. Leadbeater and Annie Besant due to the elimination of Hindu terminology from the system of seven planes and bodies. (Adyar School of Theosophy).

The term gained some general popularity after the 1914-18 war, Dr.Walter John Kilner having adopted it for a layer of the "human atmosphere" which, as he claimed in a popular book, could be rendered visible to the naked eye by means of certain exercises.

The classical element Aether of Platonic and Aristotlean physics continued in Victorian scientific proposals of a Luminiferous ether as well as the cognate chemical substance ether. According to Theosophists and Alice Bailey the etheric body inhabits an etheric plane which corresponds to the four higher subplanes of the physical plane. The intended reference is therefore to some extremely rarefied matter, analogous in usage to the word "spirit" (originally "breath"). In selecting it as the term for a clearly defined concept in an Indian-derived metaphysical system, the Theosophists aligned it with ideas such as the prana-maya-kosha (sheath made of prana, subtle breath or life-force) of Vedantic thought.

In popular use it is often confounded with the related concept of the astral body as for example in the term astral projection - the early Theosophists had called it the "astral double". Others prefer to speak of the "lower and higher astral".

The human being that lives on Earth and through understanding finishes the existence of his/her ego, opens his/her consciousness, which becomes diffused into the universe and in this way reaches the level of Great Understanding. After that, the human consciousness arranges all accumulated information into the level of Cognition that is completed by Enlightenment. After this process the human being turns into an energetic being and leaves the physical universe. He/she enters the higher luminary world of positive energies where the being continues to develop and learns to create increasingly higher and higher positive energies. The final stage is the conscious creation of the highest energy – the Absolute and becoming the part of it.

The Three Simultaneously True Levels of Nondual Reality
(one Absolutely True, the other two “relatively true”)

3 - Conventional level
2 - Psychic-Soul level

Multi-Dimensional Beings

"All beings are multi-dimensional, including humans. Our problem is that we have forgotten our multi-dimensional nature and have been disconnected from much of ourselves. The variety of beings out there which you will become aware of through awakening your Third Eye and spiritual transformation is truly amazing. From nature spirits to angels to Extraterrestrials to huge beings maintaining the dimensions to the tiny beings in particles, there are beings everywhere. An explanation of the infinite variety of beings in existence is beyond the scope of any book as it is truly infinite. By awakening your spiritual senses you will inevitably become aware of many different beings and you will be able to communicate directly with them. The communication used is telepathic although sometimes you may actually hear words. Generally telepathy involves the transmission of feelings which the receiver can then put into words much like a translation. There will always be information lost in translation just like when trying to explain to someone an experience you have had. Can they ever really know how you felt by your description alone? Can you know the taste of a piece of fruit by a description? You may get some idea but you can never know until you taste it. Indeed even with friends, loved ones and others here on Earth, telepathic communication could rid the World of so many misunderstandings."

Prozac & Stelazine in 1994 for a few years. 1200mg Amisulpride in 1998 for a year. 1999 to current time have maintained 200mg of Amisulpride & increased to 300mg a few years ago, with 2 stopping attempts in 2001 & 2003/4. i stopped all medications 5 times, for around 8 years in total, but the last 3 withdrawal/stopping attempts were disastrous. Am very unsure about stopping medication again. Have recently (in Winter 2018) had to increase the Amisulpride to 400mg.

What happened to our rights?

This is more concerning the current situation in the UK, but exactly the same thing & worse has been / is happening in the USA & other parts of the World -

What has happened to the rights of the disabled; physically & mentally disabled, mentally ill, addicts, homeless, prisoners, & all those in genuine need, poverty, sickness & most vulnerable in the UK? Why has all the progress since WW2 & made in the 20th Century simple been thrown away & gotten rid of? It's a total outrage, disgrace & National scandal.

Health and social care spending cuts linked to 120,000 excess deaths in England

The 2008 Global financial crash, which wasn't the fault of Labour, it was the fault of Right Wing Neoliberal Capitalism, was primarily blamed on & a punishment / scapegoat made of the poor, sick, disabled & mentally ill - all of societies unfortunates & most vulnerable, by the dominated right wing press / MSM, Tory Government & mainstream society. The Nazis did the same thing. It's unforgivable.

i suppose that everything is dealing with such complex, in depth & multifaceted areas.

Everything at mass media & political levels also appears to greatly impact things.

The entire media systems; TV / Radio / Internet / Newspapers / Books / Magazines.

i feel so very tired & drained with it all.

i do also feel that it is highly relevant that there is very much some kind of mass pathology / insanity within current mainstream humanity / the masses itself.

"We as a species are in the midst of a massive psychic epidemic that has been brewing in the cauldron of humanity from the beginning of time. This psychospiritual disease of the soul”which Native Americans have called wetiko”can be thought of as the bug in the system. It informs and animates the madness that is playing itself out in our lives, both individually and collectively, on the world stage."

How much is & has the entire system / society / culture / 'civilisation' gone insane on one level?

i suppose i can't expect that there is going to to a sane, comprehensive, humane & decent treatment of the 'mad' in a 'civilisation' that is itself as insane / psychotic, manic, chaotic & confused as this one.

Hi - Thank you for the link. That all looks really good.

i have noticed that in ways the UK seems to be following America more & more within all these areas.

27 years ago i pretty much felt / thought that the standard biomedical model was rubbish & there were far better alternatives. Some 14 years ago i started posting on mainstream mental health forums & pretty much assumed that the majority of people would be in agreement with me - they weren't. i think it's something that humanity as a whole has to sort out, along with a lot of other areas. i don't have the same level of argument left in me - other than mainly this thread on here, my own small forum, & a few people that i connect with on fb i don't go on mainstream mental health forums any more. i think that there has been & is a very deliberate dumbing down of society.

The ways i see things & my own World view within systemic, integral / holistic terms i don't think is that common. i also don't seem able to find a deeper resolution to my own difficulties & challenges.

For me the whole UK welfare 'reforms' is now the bigger issue. i am in a kind of stalemate with things - pretty much i have had to accept the schizophrenia diagnosis i have & lowish dose of Amisulpride. i vowed i would after the last major episode until there was proper & practical understanding, help & support appropriate to my needs, which has never materialised. Currently the Government are putting me through another social security reassessment.

i do see things in part as having being sociological & relational,  especially with my family - but it's very in depth & difficult areas to try & go into. i don't have the circumstances or support to try coming off the medication & i know it would just be a repeat of the same major psychotic illness.

i can't help, & have had / have No control over the ways i have been treated by family, the system, society & other people over the years, & the lack of what i feel is more appropriate understanding, help & support. The realities have been & are as well that i have experienced 38 years of a very severe illness, & that can't be denied. A lot simply has been & is about survival. To me this system / society / 'civilisation' is insane, & have considered it all to be since i was a kid. i'm Not in any kind of position, influence or power to really do anything about it all.

Just recently i have tried to initiate more of a local movement, as i feel that would be far better with my efforts, but it's the same problem, people don't understand & aren't that interested in my viewpoints to everything, & on more ground levels of society there are some very deep & major social issues - mental illness, crime, addiction, homelessness etc, & again, what position am i in to really do anything about it all?

i'm very tired of all the same conversations & arguments around all these areas.

“Great musicians from Dundee include:

JIMMY DEUCHAR (greatest UK jazz trumpeter?)

Probably the most technically gifted artist here, but jazz, though being "nice", has to be regarded as a minority genre, the majority of music lovers will have never heard of him.

Strangely, we teenagers in the early 60s, whilst rocking to the Beatles, Stones, Del Shannon, The Crystals, etc. also went to see Acker Bilk and Kenny Ball in concert.  These guys were regarded as cool, then.  Indeed, their singles competed in the charts with the best that the US and British pop dudes could come up with.  Acker Bilk was No1 with "Stranger on the Shore" for many moons.  Not really jazz (it came from a children's TV serial we watched), but never mind, a really phenomenal occurrence when a tsunami of creative, hot singles was flooding the airwaves at the time.

Current top, award-winning UK jazz trumpeter Colin Steele (a Scot) was amazed when I told him how teenagers freaked out to the likes of Kenny Ball at the Caird Hall, Dundee.  However, a few years earlier, at the same venue, such was the frenzy Rock 'n' Roll created, our "best" Brit rocker - Tommy Steele had his clothes torn to bits when a mob of overexcited fans descended on him from the rows of seats behind him.  He vowed never to visit the City again.  No great loss, I say, though credit to him for becoming a star for many for years to come.  Ah, back to Jimmy Deuchar, and the legendary Tubby Hayes introduced on BBC2's Jazz 625 by the urbane and un-Dundeelike Etonian gent, Humphrey Littleton.  Affy nice, indeed:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzXslx1loo0" rel="nofollow">www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzXslx1loo0</a>

THE AVERAGE WHITE BAND - huge in the US, more so than here, because they were so authentically funky - more funky than many Americans, even - as have been several British artists.  I happened to catch their first live radio concert on BBC Radio 1 around 1970, liked the stuff, then could not believe they had been formed in Dundee.  The first album "Show Your Hand", I bought, but the big success - and a tragedy, attended by Cher - came later.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aGBXrJ6e34" rel="nofollow">www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aGBXrJ6e34</a>

DANNY WILSON (GARY CLARK)

Regardless of who wrote and performed this hit, and where they came from, I believe it to be one of the most beautifully crafted British songs of the 1980s.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=7hqgC3W9GUI" rel="nofollow">www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=7hq...</a>

DEACON BLUE - Ricky Ross went to Dundee High School (fee-paying).  A relative’s daughter was at the school at the same time.  Heck, they even named the group after one of my most favourite Steely Dan numbers.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2ZcfCpO6QE" rel="nofollow">www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2ZcfCpO6QE</a>

The tragic, unique BILLY MACKENZIE in "THE ASSOCIATES".  An absolute one-off.  An acquired taste, he flashed like a comet across the music scene and was gone.  I loved some of the unique, surreal soundscapes.  He lived at Auchterhouse, near the Sidlaws, one of my favourite places around the City.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZSMDaewz2A" rel="nofollow">www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZSMDaewz2A</a>

SNOW PATROL  Getting into modern times - I don't know too much about these guys from now on, but I hugely respect what they appear to have done.  This is beautiful, regardless of what music framework you are at home with.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GemKqzILV4w" rel="nofollow">www.youtube.com/watch?v=GemKqzILV4w</a>

RODDY WOOMBLE (Idlewild)

I know his parents who were at the same school as myself in the late 50s early 60s.

Roddy is the grandson of my late mother's best (and longest lived) friend.  They were at school together (Stobswell ) in the 1930s.

A guy who is not afraid to change direction in music.  We of a certain age will probably prefer the outcome of his later drift over to reflective, folk-orientated, particularly Scottish, acoustic work.  The earlier thrashy, punk (I don't know much about its classification, really!) was hugely enjoyed internationally by the young.  As an envious music-lover who never got anywhere playing-wise, I did buy one of Idlewild's CD singles as a small token of my wish that he'd succeed.

Various psychiatric drug treatments since 1990.

CQC finds care does not fully protect the rights of patients subject to the Mental Health Act

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has found that some patients who are subject to the Mental Health Act continue to experience care that does not fully protect their rights or ensure their wellbeing.

Does this open the door to a law suit? If so, who should be held liable under our current system of fragmented accountability? More fundamentally, does our current system systematically discriminate against the human rights of people with serious mental illness by design, or is it failing to protect their rights by default, primarily as a result of under-funding?

Either way, says CQC’s report the situation is not improving. The Department of Health and Social Care has accepted CQC’s recommendations. But NHS England said implementing them will cost money they do not have.

http://www.cqc.org.uk/publications/major-report/monitoring-mental-health-act-report

CQC’s report comes as an independent review of the Mental Health Act is underway, led by Professor Sir Simon Wessely, which must try to find answers to some serious and pressing dilemmas.

Dr Paul Lelliott, deputy chief inspector of hospitals (lead for mental health) at the Care Quality Commission, said: “We welcome the fact that his review will also consider the wider practice and service factors that might underpin some of our findings. This is quite likely to be a ‘once in a generation’ review … .”

Human Rights and Mental Health Act Reform: Perspectives on the Wessely Review will be our closing plenary on day 1 at the 11th Annual New Savoy Conference Psychological Therapies in the NHS taking place on the 21st and 22nd March 2018 at the Millennium Conference Centre, London. Danielle Hamm, Chair, Mental Health Policy Group & Associate Director of Campaigns and Policy, Rethink Mental Illness, will chair a distinguished panel of speakers. Professor George Szmukler will make the case that the current Mental Health Act is discriminatory, and will explore the idea of “fusion legislation” as a fix. Dr Gareth Owen, who leads the Mental Health and Justice Project will respond. Professor Wayne Martin will then discuss the Impasse in Geneva over whether coercive psychiatry can ever be compliant with international human rights standards. Professor Genevra Richardson, who led the government’s previous review of the mental health act will respond. Together they will set the scene for our delegates to consider this most serious set of dilemmas: where now for the Wessely review and compulsory treatment?

This plenary will be preceded by a workshop led by Professor Martin aimed at mental health practitioners who must deal with these dilemmas now: Practicable Support for Decision-Making: The Orphan Principle of the Mental Capacity Act. It will offer an opportunity for delegates to consider what we could and should be doing now in response to CQC’s report, as well as how we could reform our roles, responsibilities and practice for the future.

One would not expect the bar graph in link one to show that sharp rise of hospital admissions, given that we now have, by some accounts, effective antidepressants, which, by some accounts, more people should be taking.

Maybe it is a poopout graph for stuff like Effexor.

Seems like a useful link, cpu.

Is npr a solid, reliable source of news, do you, and anyone else think?

Looks fine, at a quick glance, but am not an expert and rely on advice from others.

i have no idea what is a reliable news source? Surely everything is biased to some degree by the World view / beliefs of the author / organisation?

i'm very much in the critical psychiatry camp - i am Not anti psychiatry / anti medication. i feel that there should be major reform of the system & services & mental health laws, & far better & more humane & comprehensive treatment of people, especially what come under the psychoses / schizophrenia. But i feel very strongly that we do need comprehensive mental health services & a comprehensive psychiatry.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_Psychiatry_Network

https://www.mentalhealthtoday.co.uk/news/in-our-right-mind/call-for-bold-changes-to-outdated-mental-health-act

i am also very much in support of centre left democratic socialism, & movements such as the Zeitgeist Movement, & i am anti-capitalist / anti-Atheist 'scientific' materialism. A lot of the problems we collectively face i do largely see as a result of the current socio-economic system itself.

https://www.thezeitgeistmovement.com/about/#mission

i'm also very much in line with fully integrated / integral / holistic health care models (fully integrated mind, body, soul, spirit & environment paradigms).

Pretty much everything i am more in line with veers towards all those areas, & those are my own biases in what i am far more likely to be in alignment with.

Thanks for your frank answer.

Yes, I am sympathetic to several of your views.

The "65 million year old brain" to coin a term, surely must have been encountering much trauma since, say, the industrial evolution, along with the honing of a society and civilisation we know today.

Anyway, hope you will get out into some beneficial blue and green space, now that warmer air is heading for you.

Patients, academics and psychiatrists formally complain that the president of Royal College of Psychiatrists has misled the public over antidepressant safety

http://cepuk.org/2018/03/09/patients-academics-psychiatrists-formally-complain-president-royal-college-psychiatrists-misled-public-antidepressant-safety/

http://cepuk.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Complaint-to-RCPsych.pdf

"A formal complaint of misleading the public on a matter of public safety has today been lodged with the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCP) against its President, Professor Wendy Burn, and the Chair of its Psychopharmacology Committee, Professor David Baldwin.

Burn and Baldwin stated, in a letter to The Times on 24 February, that: ‘[for] the vast majority of patients, any unpleasant symptoms experienced on discontinuing antidepressants have resolved within two weeks of stopping treatment’.

A formal complaint disputing this claim has been signed by 30 people, including 10 psychiatrists and 10 people who have experienced withdrawal effects from antidepressants for between eleven months and ten years.

It states: ‘To mislead the public on this issue has grave consequences. People may be misled by the false statement into thinking that it is easy to withdraw and may therefore try to do so too quickly or without support from the prescriber, other professionals or loved ones… Such irresponsible statements bring the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the profession of psychiatry (to which some of us belong), and – vicariously – all mental health professionals, into disrepute.’

The complaint cites several research papers documenting that withdrawal effects often last far longer than two weeks.  These include a survey of more than 800 antidepressant users conducted by the RCP itself, which found that withdrawal symptoms were experienced by the majority (63%), generally lasted for up to 6 weeks and that a quarter reported anxiety lasting more than 12 weeks.  These survey results contradict Burn’s and Baldwin’s letter yet were removed from the RCP website within 48 hours of the misleading statement being made in The Times."

Thanks. i need to try & get out more. The past 8 years every week i have spent approx 70 hours looking after my mum through her needs & condition of severe alzheimers, within very difficult overall circumstances & family dynamics, as well as my own condition. When i am Not doing all that i largely just want to be quiet & peaceful in the flat.

Everyone i know is ill in various ways & to various degrees. There have been so many deaths of people i know, especially over the past few years.

Yes it seems that in many ways humanity did OK for the vast bulk of our evolution - i do feel that this planet & our species is at a very serious crisis point.

Thank you Peng. There is a lot to be very grateful for as well.

i find it very hard to switch off certain things.

So much revolves around the experience i had age 17 & major psychosis / hospitalisation, & subsequent trajectory of everything, even though it was over 27 years ago.

i have No control over the past or what has happened, but it still constantly plays on my mind. & there is No way to really impart what my experiences have been.

It is frustrating the way i perceive the World & a lot of areas with the way i am, does seem at odds with a lot the way things are & a lot of what goes on.

This area of the standard treatment of people with psychological / emotional / social difficulties, & all areas of social distress / difficulties, is so very obviously largely wrong & the general ways it's all understood & treated so bad, it's frustrating to see so much of it all just carry on endlessly the same ways. The general levels of mental health treatment now are diabolical, but Nothing seems to ever be done to fundamentally change it all.

Not to be compared in any way with your, clearly, most horrendous traumas, in 1954, when I was 9, I heard my father passing away in our house.

Along with years of irregular shift work, this did exacerbate my failure of health 23 years later in 1977.  I reckon I was in my prime having suffered no serious illnesses until then, at the age of 32.

"The nature of the beast" a doctor told me when I asked "why did it take so long?"

Anyway, here at 64 years after the event I am feeling more optimism, so maybe you can hang onto the belief that time may bring some healing? - hope so, anyway.

My fascination with, and love of, the natural world, coupled with music, helped me keep going.

Thank you for sharing all that Peng & being caring. That must have been deeply upsetting & deeply impacted you at such a young age.

Nature & Music are very healing. i am very glad that you have found healing & hope.

i'm not sure that anything is really comparable.

i try so hard to have trust, faith & hope in life & the cosmos / universe. i have tried so hard to heal with everything, & there has been progress.

Whatever i tried in the past it would always end with severe relapse / psychosis / illness / hospitalisation. Everything i tried with coming off the medication would always end with very severe psychosis / illness.

Part of me just accepts the schizophrenia diagnosis / condition / illness & medication.

i have been working with another healer who has become a friend over the past few years, & she tries to get me to re-frame things as shamanic initiation. Another healer whom i work with on-line says the same. i'm just Not convinced by that perspective on it all. i can see things as differential - a psychotic disorder / illness & aspects of spiritual crisis & i can see things in holistic terms, that include the soul / spirit. Certain aspects of things just don't ever seem to more fully resolve.

A lot of people go through far worse. There has been & is a lot to be very grateful for as well.

i'm just watching a TV program that was recorded on an adolescent secure unit in the UK. So much of what goes on with the general treatment of people seems not quite right.
