I'm glad.  There is a lot of excellent information on this site which possibly isn't available anywhere else.  And being able to ask questions and get support from other members is helpful during the process of getting of your drug.

Because of the information on this site I know that some or even most of what I am experiencing are withdrawal symptoms, even though I am tapering very carefully.  This has helped me not to panic and get scared and to stay patient.

It would be helpful if you could make your drug signature simpler.  Providing dates makes it easier for the mods.  We also don't need the extra information.  If you want to keep the information that is already in your signature, you can copy and paste it and post it in your Intro.

Please add the month and year when you started drug; xx is for the date; Mth is for the month

Trazadone 250mg since Month Year     21 Aug 2017 - stopped

200mg - xx Mth to xx Mth 2017

225mg - xx Mth 2017

With regards to your withdrawal symptoms, how bad are they?  It is better to stay at a dose and stick it out instead of going up.  It's only been just over 2 weeks since you stopped the drug completely.  Because you made such drastic changes it would be a good idea to hold at 225mg for at least 2 months and reassess at that time.  If it were me, I would only increase if the symptoms were absolutely unbearable.

It's a good idea to keep notes on paper of what symptoms worsening and what improves.  Sometimes we don't feel like we have improved but checking back we can see that we have.

I have magnesium citrate 150mg.  I take 1/2 tablet morning and night.  Sometimes I take an extra 1/2 a tablet.

The sign that you are taking too much magnesium is that you will get diarrhoea.  This is the link:  Magnesium

To use what you have you could always open the capsule and take half in the morning and half at night.  Some members dissolve it in water and sip it throughout the day.

Just want to say i saw my dr. today and he gladly  gave me my compound prescription for my taper. i spoke with a compound pharmacy in my area and she has register me in the system so in a week i will be faxing my script.

i was wondering if i should asked my dr for my prescriptions for the next 6 months and he fill in all required parts on the script and i gave it to the pharmacy each month. i said this

ecause my doctor is about 90 plus years old and im so afraid anything could happen while im tapering.  his wife was a nurse and he has told me that she has been on trazodone for 20 years.

That sounds like an excellent idea.  What plan do you have in place for when he is no longer your prescriber?   Will you be seeing another doctor in the same medical centre?  If you will be then it would be a good idea to request your doctor to discuss your situation with the new doctor.  If not and you will be seeing a doctor elsewhere, will you be able to transfer your medical records.  It will be important to make sure that your medical records state clearly about your requirements so that you hopefully won't have any issues when you need to change prescriber.

I think it is important to have this worked out to try and eliminate or reduce complications in the future.

Left out one scenario.  If you will be seeing a new doctor at a different centre and you can't transfer your medical records, you might want to discuss getting a letter from the current doctor to give to the new doctor.

I so agree i love my dr so much i dont want him to ever leave. but i am thinking on the future and knowing his age made me sad that he could retire or leave at any moment.

I was thinking on my file and hope that anyone replace him will get to look at my file and see whats in there.. he took copies of the links that i gave him from this board and i told him that i have a support group that is there for me when i need to know how to do certain things... he is so understanding that it makes it easy for us both.

what i notice tonight with my monthly taper is i saw that i have to be on 225mg for 2 months,  and if that is what i have to be on for 2 months, well its 2 months i want to do this correct...i told the compound that i needed the prescript for sept 23, which should be oct. 23..

. i have the script, i will call the compound in he morning and we will talk.

i dont know how long a september prescription is good for.  the compound lady  will tell me....

i will see my dr in october  we will  dicuss getting my scripts for the next 6 months i hope he will be on board.

time will  tell

the  plan that i have is i have the prescription,  so going forward, my scripts from the dr will be my saving grace , the new dr will get to see the scripts, cause when my dr gave me the prescription, i fax the copy over to the compound,.. and i will keep them in a file for what ever dr i will get. and if he is not on board in helping with my taper ... i will just find a dr that will.

:)thanks for asking

You're welcome and thank you for your kind words.

One thing I will warn you about, if you do get withdrawal symptoms do not panic.  If your symptoms get uncomfortable please post here before taking anything.

Please keep notes on paper of your symptoms so that if problems arise you can post your symptom log and we can try and work out what might be the best thing to suggest.

Good luck.  And please remember to update your signature whenever you make a change so it remains current.  That way we don't have to read through your posts.  Thank you.

I did it like that for the whole one month,  I have 100mg and 50mg... Thanks for any help I get

Fever blisters, which I assume is what Australians call cold sores, usually clear up by themselves.  I have Zovirax which is topical and use it if I feel the first tingling of what might be a cold sore.  Sometimes they appear suddenly or I don't realise I am getting one so I don't get a chance to use the Zovirax and they clear up by themselves within about a week.  I have never taken any tablet or medicine for cold sores and before Zovirax was available we just let them run their course and they would clear up.

With regards to your other questions I have asked the other mods for their thoughts.

street, how are you? It sounded like you were coming down with a virus.

If you're feeling ill, perhaps you should delay reducing the trazodone.

.I've just recently had a cold sore clear up after more than 2 months of having it ,it shows you how hard our amune system is working in withdrawl ,I'm getting prepared for flu season .I heard it could be a tough one this year in Europe anyway .

before i started my taper i was taking 250mg for 2 years , then when i couldnt sleep anymore i wanted to get off this drug, so i stop because i was told in the beginning of taking it its not addictive, so i just stop, within that day i had withdrawal so i found here and read about 10% drop i drop to 200mg not really knowing what 10 percent was. i did 200mg for about 4 days straight, until i was told 10 percent is 225mg so i started taking 225mg since and its been a month and going on the second month of taking 225mg, but i dont believe that my cut of the 50mg  to get 25mg is cutting correctly. so do you think i should go back to 250mg  my dose that i was taking when i was using it for sleep... please help me on this .. im not feeling any better even thou its going on 2 months at 225mg, my drop will be at the end of october to 202.5mg. i will post this on my page. i just need to know what to do.   thanks for any help that you can gave, im kinda scared.

Exactly how do you feel now? Do you get fever and chills with shaking?

Street,

In response to your PM, I'm posting some thoughts here.

Only you can decide when to go to the ER, however, if you go through any kind of protracted withdrawal, i.e. it lasts a while, you are likely to experience a TON of weird symptoms that would scare an "ordinary" person into going to the ER.  I encourage you to read the following list of symptoms so that you can avoid unnecessary trips to the ER where most of what they offer is in the form of pills:

Many members have success with Omega 3 but we all react differently.  Try to monitor it closely to see how you do with it.  Listen to your body.  As a note, when you want to read about something, Google "surviving antidepressants and _______________" in this case the blank would be "omega 3".  We have information on almost everything you can think of.  Be your own source of information rather than always asking for others to look for you.  That way you save your questions for the truly important stuff and you are way more likely to get answers.

I think you should try to adjust your dosing schedule so that you take the pill before you go to sleep.  It is rarely a good idea to set the alarm to take your dose after you fall asleep.  So many of us have horrific insomnia that when you are able to fall asleep having to wake up runs the risk of not being able to fall asleep.

On the whole, Street, you need to stay at 225mg for a while until you feel like your symptoms have stabilized.  I would not recommend a further cut until you see the symptoms go away or, at the very least, start to dissipate.

Best,

Andy

Sertraline 50mg and Clonazapam .375mg from 2000 -- symptoms of dizziness Spring 2012

increased to .5 Clonazapam and 100mg Sertraline -- no improvement

Benzo microtaper from November 2012 to November 2014 (followed benzo sites "taper benzo first")

Started Sertraline taper in December 2014 cut by 25mg to 75mg; 62.5mg 1/1/15 and 50mg on 2/1/15

Held at 50mg through April 5 to use liquid
Reduced dosage in 10% or less drops from 50mg to 25mg -- at single tablet of 25mg on 10/5/15

Transitioned to all liquid for accuracy while tapering -- Horrible insomnia -- back to 25mg liquid and held until October 1, 2016

10/16 -- 11/18 tapered very slowly to 10.6mg.  No real improvement and never really stable so updosed to 12.5mg (1/2 a pill) for convenience and long hold.

After 8+ months of holding with no noticeable improvement decided to add .4ml of liquid Prozac (about 1.5mg) to see if that improves the situation

Supplements, Magnesium, D3, Omega 3, curcumin, Valerian, 81mg Aspirin, L-Theanine, Vit. C,

There are no "hard and fast" rules, Street, so it is up to the individual to decide that kind of thing.  Everyone on this site will agree that there is no downside (other than time) to waiting a little longer to make sure all is good.  It becomes important in this process to avoid the temptation to hurry to get off the meds because accelerated tapering frequently leads to issues.

Best,

I agree with apace. You might gradually move the trazodone by an hour a day to earlier in the evening, so you don't have to stay awake to take it.

Also, you might sleep better if you stopped using the computer earlier in the evening.

Also agree that holding on tapering for a month or two might be a good idea, to let your nervous system settle down.
