Hi Daalsan,

I am currently on 15mgs of Mirtazapine and have seen my psychiatrist who is supporting me in slow taper. I have been on this dose for almost 2 months and I am ready to taper to 3/4 of a 15mg. tablet. I have not had any PGAD symptoms since the last post about it. I do experience disturbing dreams occasionally and have not had adrenaline surges for a while. When I made my last cut from 22.5 mg to 15 mg I felt terrible for a while and then better after 4 weeks. When I make a cut my OCD tends to get worse. That can be very distressing. I have been stable lately so I guess I need to make a cut.  Looking forward to getting of safely from these terrible drugs and I am hoping that I will get my sense of self once this taper is over. I feel numb sometimes.  I look forward to feeling real feelings again. I will keep you posted. Hopefully it will help someone. Fourteen months later, I am better but not quiet there yet. Cheers!

One more thing,

I sometimes experience warmth in my lower legs and prickles. I have also experienced weird tremors occasionally. Has anyone else experienced this? Thank you.

HI Hopefull,

Thanks for stopping by my thread.

I'm glad to hear that you have reached some stability. If you make your cuts, hold awhile and go slow, I think you will do fine.

I'm still stable and hanging in there. I'm doing 10% reductions on my Pamelor. It's going well for now. I'm planning on holding longer when I hit the low doses. From my experience with Mirtz, nothing really happened until I hit 3.75mg. So go really slow and hold when you get to those lower doses.

I had yesterday quite a lot of tremor (trembling of hand) while in restaurant eating, but i took it that it is withdrawal related. Warmth in the legs maybe it has something to do with the PGAD.

Hi Chicken and Martina,

Thank you for stooping by my thread. I am glad that you are both doing better. How is your anxiety Chicken? I do dread the tapering.  How slow should I go? Cut every six weeks or so? I am cutting up tablets, it is much easier.  How long do you have to go before you get of Pamelor? Thank you. :)

Hi Hopefull  , my feet used to get hot a lot and kind of prickly.   I noticed it when I lay down , but I don't get it any more.

Hi Hopefull,

My anxiety is good now. Had a couple of nights of insomnia back in December but otherwise good.

The site advises you to start at 10% for the first month and then if no problems you can go to 10% every four weeks, then 10% every three week etc. You have to gauge it to your own system as to whether you can speed up or not. There is a thread in the tapering section that explains it pretty well.

My system allows for 10% every two weeks so far. It has always been the case for me at the higher dosages even when I was on Remeron. When I hit 10mg of Pamelor I plan to slow down and see how things go. I can't say when I plan to get off yet. I may do a long hold when I get down to below 5mg dosages. My thinking is that if you hold long before you quit off your lowest dose it gives your brain time to renew receptors before you completely get rid of the drug. For instance, if I get down to .5mg and below  I may hold for months to see what happens before I quit the drug.

Pamelor comes in a capsule with powder so it is pretty easy to make a liquid.

From your earlier post it appears that you may be cutting too much. See if you can make it into a liquid and do smaller cuts. It may reduce some of the symptoms you feel after a cut. Some people can handle bigger cuts but if you have a lot of symptoms it is wise to do smaller one.

Hi Hopefull ,  re your post 29 Jan.

In cutting the dose down from 22.5 to 15mg , you made a decrease of around one third , 33%.      My math is terrible but that's too big , and then you felt terrible for 4 weeks.

If you make cuts between 5% and 10% , you may not feel bad at all , and how good would that be?

Also , if you've had a rough time , you can sit on the 15mg for another month and just engage in your life and family again.   There are no brownie points for finishing this race fast.

Please consider ,

Hi Fresh and Chicken,

I know I made a big cut, because quartering tablets is easier then making liquid or having mirtz. compounded. My doctor told me that mirtz. comes in a dissolvable tablet, but the tablet does not dissolve completely so the dosage would not be accurate in small increments. I made a cut last night, to 3/4 of mirtz. tablet. Honestly I can't take much more of the nightmares, disturbing dreams, tremors and weight gain and few other weird symptoms. I just hope I don't get PGAD symptoms again, once my brain registers the change. If I make my own liquid, it might not be accurate since the tablet will not completely dissolve in water. I was thinking of purchasing scales to measure the tablets.  I just want to get off this poison and regain my old self back. I know this is not a race, but all I can think of everyday is getting off mirtazapine and why did I go for seconds???? Thank you for your support, cheers :))))))

There's a page in the tapering section called Tips for Tapering off Remeron , that talks about using the dissolvable tabs.    I'm thinking you could perhaps try crushing the tab. with a mortar and pestle , then dissolving the powder?  Just a thought

Hi Fresh,

I put a regular mirtazapine tablet in 15mls of water just to see if it dissolves. The tablet dissolved, but there are minute particles left in the mixture even if you stir it. That is why I am bit reluctant to use this method, because I am not sure if it is the same strength, since the tablet does not dissolve completely. Since the cut , I have been feeling a bit off, had mild adrenaline surge last night, I know it was from the cut. Reading through some of the threads, I have noticed that some people have commented that they were feeling terrible in the morning, and better in the afternoon. For me it is the opposite. When I have made the cuts, I felt worse in the evening and couple hours after I take the tablet. What does this mean? I have noticed discussion about cortisol levels being elevated in the mornings, can this be the reverse for some people and what does this mean? I have had my cortisol levels tested couple of months ago and were within the normal range. Thank you, Hopefull.

Why don't you try dissolving it in hot/warm water? It's more likely to dissolve completely.

Just a thought.

hopefull, hello.

i think this sediment is normal. i actually have my liquid mirtazapine made by a licensed compound pharmacist and when i draw my dose into the oral syringe i use, i also see the particles in the mixture (mine is in a suspension fluid versus water). i am uncertain why this happens, but i think the dose will be as accurate as can be nonetheless.

also, i'm not certain it is a huge deal that you are feeling worse in the evenings versus the mornings. i mean we all respond differently to the drugs anyway, so it makes sense that the symptoms wouldn't necessarily be a "one size fits all" kind of deal.

looking back through your post overall, your trajectory is decidedly improvement. ups and downs, but it seems that healing is happening for you incrementally.

hang in there.

Hi ten O275 and Broken,

Thank you, for your post and support. I am seeing my doctor next Thursday and he said that we can try dissolvable mirtazapine as I get to lower dose. How are you tolerating liquid Mitrazapine? Being here, really helps when you are feeling low. I am slowly healing, I am not as bad as I was 14 months ago. I know that we will all heal in time. Just have to be patient.  Broken, you have to give your self credit. You are trying and have gone back to work, which is a big achievement. Look at all positive things that you are doing. You will get there! You have to believe that and work towards healing.  I know it is extremely hard, but the fact that you are working is  a step in the right direction. Thank you all for your support! Hopefully, we can all write our own success stories one day! Cheers, Hopefull.

Hopefull, hey.

I tolerate the liquid very well. Because I have it done at a compound pharmacy, I even get to choose the flavor of suspension fluid. I went with tuti fruiti It tastes more tuti than fruiti. Anyway, it was a fairly easy crossover to the liquid from the solid. And the ability to be so precise in measuring out the dosage made it sooooooo worthwhile. I hated cutting the pills. They were ways crushing and crumbling and I'd be like trying to lick up the dust to be sure I got it all. I think you will enjoy the liquid for the precision it brings.

So cool that you are feeling better incrementally. You will heal, it's cool you recognize that. I know you've been through a lot. Keep your chin up and spirits intact.

Hang in there.

On Tuesday I took a multi vitamin as advised by my doctor. I have had reaction to the multivitamin. I am experiencing mild pins and needles in the head. I had this after bad Zolof reaction for months. It finally went away in September. Has anyone else experienced similar reactions to supplements? Not sure whether I should try protein powder. I know we are all different, but is this sensitivity permanent? It looks like I still can't take suppliments. Never had issues before ad's. :(

Is this similar to when you have heat and pins and needles in your feet?       I suspect this is why the site recommends just magnesium and fish oil , cause many have found a multi-v. or b vitamins are too "stimulating" .     The exact way the stimulation manifests is different between people.    It does go away , as you found after Zoloft.

You last cut was on 4 Feb - I'm not sure what tablets you have , but you've gone from 1 to 3/4.    Have you had any re-emergence of any other symptoms since then?

I'm also wondering if you're going with liquid , or have you considered using a digital jewellers' scale?    They weigh down to 0.01 of a mg.  $13:95 on ebay.com.au , including delivery.

Hi Fresh, :)

It is not the same. It is a weird feeling. Like tiny pickles at the front of the forehead. This multi vitamin is loaded with b vitamins. I know it will go away. I'm better off without taking supplements. How are you going? Currently cutting up tablets until I get dissolveable Mirtazapine tablets. Doc. Has worked out a weaning schedule for me. Fresh thank you for your support. Hugs!:)

Since I took the multivitamin I am still experiencing weird sensation in the head. Last night when I took the mitrazapine it became worse.I also felt I was on the verge of having andrenneline surges. This went away now it is back. I hope it goes away soon soon. I feel like I am back to square one. :(

I feel like I am back to square one.  :(

I know the feeling, Hopefull, but you're not.  Sounds like you're like me and you don't do too well with supplements.  I'm sure your body will calm down soon.  Sorry to hear about your reaction.  Hang in there.

I would hold off on vitamins until you are more stable. I have always been able to take them but I had problems with them some time back. I would get panic attacks after taking them. I've heard that the dyes used in them can cause anxiety. Some of those vitamins have a red coating. I believe this is Red lake dye. Check the ingredients and watch for color dyes. Also be careful of foods with color dyes.

Thank you Alto. Thank you for creating this site and for offering support! This site and support from others has and still is getting me through the tough times. I am slowly recovering and learning from other peoples experiences. From your own experience, once your nervous becomes sensitive to suppliments because of ad's, is this sensitivity life long? I know we are all different, I am just wondering if I am going to be able to take suppliments again. Thank you also to everyone that has replyed to me and dropped by my thread. I wish for everyone happiness, peace and I know I will write my own recovery one day. Cheers, Hopefull! :)

Hi Chicken and Narciuss,

Thank you for stopping by my thread. Thank you for your support. Things have settled down since the multivitamin reaction. Based on your own experiences, how long does this sensitivity last? How are you going with tapering? Cheers, Hopefull.

Hi Hopefull , good to hear you're past the vitamin reaction  :)

Call me pessimistic , but I'm figuring the sensitivity is a long-term thing.  It may decrease with time , but I'd prefer to err on the side of caution whenever possible.

"Better to be safe than sorry" takes on a whole new meaning when the "sorry"  can be so devastating.

Hope you have a beautiful day :P

Hi Hopefull, I moved your lovely post to the right thread from the other Hopeful's thread.   :)

I am becoming more tolerant of supplements but still have to be careful to start low when trying something new. I can also have a cup of coffee occasionally too but only occasionally.

Hopefull, please consider making a liquid from mirtazapine or having one made by a compounding pharmacy so you can taper more precisely using an oral syringe.

Thank you all for your support! I am have cut down to 7.5mg and have been doing ok. for the most part. I have experienced really bad anxiety on occasion. I feel like the anxiety is stuck so I panic about having the anxiety. I am anxious about feeling anxious. I experience anxiety mainly at night and have had the adrenaline surges at night but at low intensity. It is like someone has turned down the dial. . This  makes me wonder whether this is due to paradoxical affect or slow tapering? I got the adrenaline surges after bad reaction to Zoloft and while taking Mirtz. I would not get them all the time.  It is so weird. It is the weird symptoms that drive me crazy.  I am so determined to get through this and determined to get better.

Hi,

Can someone please let me know whether they have experienced panic attacks while watching scaryviolent movie, whilst coming off antidepressants? Is this normal? This horrible feeling swept over me while watching this scary film. I am still feeling tingles all over my face and arms. Is my nervous system in overdrive since the last cut? The weird symptoms do not seem to end. I really don't know what to do anymore. I am seeing my doctor tomorrow but I know it is useless. Thank you.
