StephenC
Hello all, My name is Stephen and I am posting from Australia. I have just been through a rocky 2 years of SSRI CT withdrawal. I completely shocked my nervous system and could not tolerate small milligrams of antidepressants as a result. During this time I have been on 25mgs of Seroquel IR in the evening. Prescribed off-label for anxiety. I would now like to withdraw properly off this medication. I have attempted to reduce the Seroquel previously by a quarter of a tablet (25%). But have experienced severe nausea and some anxiety. I figured this was an indication the dose reduction was too much for my nervous system and reverted back to the full dose before all hell broke lose again. Does anyone have any suggestions/experience on withdrawal off Seroquel? The tablets are very small and fiddly. Thanks for taking the time to read my post. Stephen Link to comment
Moderator Emeritus Petunia Posted January 11, 2014 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 11, 2014 Hi Stephen, Welcome to SA and thank you for posting an introduction. Congratulations on getting getting through 2 years of withdrawals from SSRI CT, I know what that's like, I've been in protracted withdrawal for about that long. Nausea is a common withdrawal symptom from stopping Seroquel too fast, so that was a good indication that you need to taper slower. We generally recommend reducing by 10% a month, here is a link to a thread with some tips about how to reduce Seroquel by small amounts: http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/topic/1707-tips-for-tapering-off-seroquel-quetiapine/?hl=%2Btips+%2Bfor+%2Btapering+%2Boff+%2Bseroquel You will find a lot of friendly help and support here, please let us know how things go. Petu. I'm not a doctor. My comments are not medical advise. These are my opinions based on my own experience and what I've learned. Please discuss your situation with a medical practitioner who has knowledge of tapering and withdrawal...if you are lucky enough to find one. Moderator Emeritus tezza Posted January 11, 2014 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 11, 2014 Hi and welcome! So sorry for all you've gone through! If I were you, I'd taper less than 10 % and hold for long periods because your system could become destabilized very easily for some time to come. Go slowly and take care! http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/topic/1644-tezza-risperdal-withdrawal/ Seroquel and Mirtazipine Link to comment
