I did not go, btdt.  I did finally get to go visit my Mum and beyond.  Just recently.  Came home via automobile with my sister and brother in law.  My sister had dubbed one of the National Parks as our adventure stop on the way home.  I do still want to get to that area in Arizona where she practices(outside of all her speaking engagements and book work) so..............it may be........ someday.  We were so close to Cottonwood and Sedona(nearby) is known as a healing vortex of sorts(if you are into that.....sheesh, I am).  So I'll get back.  Thanks for the reminder.

The appointment was for last October......2016.  They rescheduled me in September........ and then I decided to cancel altogether.........reasons being: unsure if insurance would cover most of the visit(s), was doing well enough then and now, and did not want to over complicate my recovery with fears of dementia, etc., and was plenty busy at the time with what I like to call "work" here at home.

I also had wanted to read more of her stuff before I go........and still do and will.........educate myself........then hopefully team on up with her a bit in my further recovery path.

The last thing I need now.......seriously........is to be told that I am ill or at high risk for this or that...........

So glad you posted though btdt.  Northeastern Arizona is also a site for a possible job inquiry.  Grace is Northwest, but hey......I like driving.  Synchronicity??  Hope so.

p.s. recovery is healing and vice versa me thinks........IDK

Thanks for letting me know.  I was hoping she would have some healing advice and would if I was expecting just a bad prognosis without any help I would not bother seeing her either.

I sure hope she does more than present bad news to people who are suffering. I hope but I don't know.

peace mmt

I don't know........does she offer any healing advice in any of the stuff that you have read of hers?

I might get there someday.  I mean she gets this stuff I think....the damages caused and all that.........not sure if what she offers is hope or not......  She does do a good disclosure as far as prescribing goes........I kind of think she does as I got one of her "patient" packets.

At the time.......back around when I thought I was going to go........it sure seemed she focused on the post medication/drug early dementia difficulty.

Who knows what she is like to team with or if she teams with the people she sees or just manages.

Good that she writes and lectures though.

I am happy to report that my brain is doing pretty darn good considering.

I feel I have invested enough sometimes in supporting psychiatrists.  She is not cheap, even with insurance, if they cover at all.

Good to see you posting.

In some respects I feel like I have had a lobotomy the black board has been wiped clean I can't recall much especially specifics but I do think I recall one article that made suggestions on healing I just have no clue where I seen it.  I believe it was a conference she was speaking at.  There is no other reason for anyone to see her in my view at least... healing would be the only reason I would see her the damage is done it is not like she can undo what is done but how to get out of it from here ... that is my question and always has been.

So many times I thought I was healing and was going to come out the other side of this mostly intact... now it is not looking so good.  I wish somebody like her was working close to me I can't travel far now.  Maybe if I had seen a doc like her years ago I would not have gotten to this point but there are a lot of maybes in this post as usual.  It just seems she is the only doctor willing to write about the real damage or the real problems these drugs cause and that to me is the first step in healing it ...knowing it... most other doctors don't want to admit it tho I am sure most of them know they will not talk they will not treat as if there has been drug damage ...if they can't do that they have no chance of helping us in my opinion.

Thanks I am surprised to be back actually not sure why I am here... it just happned like so much of my life... seems to be what happens when I was busy making other plans.... here I am

btdt,

If you want......if you can btdt........I can host you and get you there........I would be glad to.  I would really love to get to Sedona, one town over from Cottonwood.  Also acquainted with another woman there who does the Native American thing......sweats, sundances, the works.  I think she used to hang a shingle and do some healing stuff.   She couldn't put us up as she cares for 2 family members but could maybe meet up with her as well while there.  Give them a call if you want......see what pricing would be and all that.  It's probably about 12 hours or so from here by auto/car.......maybe less.  They typically do 2 appointments after you have submitted records and stuff or even in your own words, the appointments about a day apart.  With a charge for her time looking at records prior to your appointment.  I remember that much and still have the packet that they sent.  Just a thought.......who knows though........maybe?

Excerpt

Medication-induced movement disorders are included in Section II because of their frequent importance in 1) the management by medication of mental disorders or other medical conditions and 2) the differential diagnosis of mental disorders (e.g., anxiety disorder versus neuroleptic-induced akathisia; malignant catatonia versus neuroleptic malignant syndrome). Although these movement disorders are labeled “medication induced,” it is often difficult to establish the causal relationship between medication exposure and the development of the movement disorder, especially because some of these movement disorders also occur in the absence of medication exposure. The conditions and problems listed in this chapter are not mental disorders.

Posted (edited)

I found her in Arizona.  That was the summer fall of 2016.  I did not go see her.  I don't think she practices in N.C. anymore.

Hmmm, she does telepsychiatry according to that link!  Perhaps that's an option for you?

Sending much Love, peace, and healing,

No problem.  From what I understand about tele- psychiatry it may be more for between Dr. to Dr. ..........prescriber to prescriber where the more experienced/knowledgeable helps another less familiar with psych medication.  I don't know for sure though.

Soooo........if your insurance is acceptable perhaps your Dr(s) might be willing to consult with her.

It does sound like you are having some pretty severe W/D now.  Unfortunately that can happen with a rapid decrease off or C/T.

It does get better though.

Hoping you get a window soon without additional medications.
