Moderator Emeritus Petunia Posted October 21, 2014 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted October 21, 2014 Your wonderful resilient body and mind WILL heal despite your negative attitude (it may take longer though) An inability to believe that we will heal, seems to be another withdrawal symptom for some people, I don't see it as a negative attitude, but another symptom which will pass in time. I think its a temporary inability to 'see' beyond our current situation, caused by our diminished cognitive abilities, which will improve over time. Some people seem to become overwhelmed with negativity when they go into a wave, but then start to feel hopeful again when the wave passes. Until you are getting good, strong windows, its difficult to hold onto a positive, hopeful attitude. But try and remember that you are recovering anyway and eventually you will start to feel a little better and then it will be easier to have hopeful, positive thoughts. You will heal and get your life and personality back. Maybe it will be a slightly different personality, because of the experience of withdrawal that you are going through, making you a stronger, more compassionate person, but the ability to be happy and content with yourself will return. You are going to recover, whether you believe it or not, and its going to take as long as it takes, no matter what your attitude is. But dwelling on gloomy, pessimistic ideas, can make it more unpleasant than it needs to be. When I'm in a bad wave, feeling awful and those thoughts come, telling me that I'm going to be like this for the rest of my life, I push those thoughts away because they make me feel worse than I already do. At that moment, I still don't think I'm going to recover, but I don't have to keep thinking about it. Its not true anyway, given enough time, we all get better and at some point in our recovery, we become able to believe it. I'm not a doctor. My comments are not medical advise. These are my opinions based on my own experience and what I've learned. Moderator Emeritus Petunia Posted January 8, 2015 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted January 8, 2015 I'm happy to hear you have found a way to cope schizor, that's good news. I don't think it really matters what we do, as long as we are getting through our days and letting time pass, so that recovery can continue in the background. When you are feeling better, you can find your friends again, or make new ones. We have a topic here about Brain Games, perhaps you could add your suggestions to the discussion. I'm not a doctor. schizor
this is a messege I wrote a member who was asking me if Ive ever return to the way I was before. It was very rough and Ive experienced so many things that I dont wish to no one. You have seen my thread so you know that.. But when the emotions come back, you actually become stronger and you have more compassion then you ever had. You will also be thankful for everything you feel, once you brain starts recovering from the damage these drugs made. After one year I started feeling lonely again and was even thankful for this emotion. Then I called my friends and we went out. I felt so happy and full of life because I havent seen then for a long time. Then I started doing the things I loved before, I felt joy and sarrow. I listen to music all day now, it just feels so amazing. This will happen to you as well, but you will never be the same person as you were before. Have been trying to get off since mid 2008 with numerous failures including CTs and slow (but not slow enough tapers)Have slow tapered at 10 per cent or less for years. I have liquid mirtazapine made at a compounding chemist. Was on 1.6 ml as at 19 March 2014. Dropped to 1.5 ml 7 June 2014. Dropped to 1.4 in about September. Dropped to 1.3 on 20 December 2014. Dropped to 1.2 in mid Jan 2015. Dropped to 1 ml in late Feb 2015. I think my old medication had run out of puff so I tried 1ml when I got the new stuff and it seems to be going ok. Sleep has been good over the last week (as of 13/3/15). Dropped to 1/2 ml 14/11/15 Fatigue still there as are memory and cognition problems. Sleep is patchy but liveable compared to what it has been in the past. Moderator Emeritus dalsaan Posted March 16, 2015 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted March 16, 2015 Hey Toasted, Welcome to your/our community. Can I ask you to open a thread in the introductions forum. We each have a thread there to introduce ourselves, share some of our story, support each other, touch base, update on progress etc etc. Can I also ask that you complete your signature - instructions on how to do that are here - http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/topic/893-please-put-your-withdrawal-history-in-your-signature/ Like you, we are delighted that things have turned around for Schizor. Dalsaan Please note - I am not a medical practitioner and I do not give medical advice. I offer an opinion based on my own experiences, reading and discussion with others. On Effexor for 2 months at the start of 2005. Had extreme insomnia as an adverse reaction. Changed to mirtazapine. DRUG FREE - as at 1st May 2017 >My intro post is here - http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/topic/2250-dalsaan Link to comment
