btdt
Has anyone learned the results of Mr Williams toxicology tests? I have looked and found nothing... Anyone? WARNING THIS WILL BE LONG Had a car accident in 85 Codeine was the pain med when I was release from hosp continuous use till 89 Given PROZAC by a specialist to help with nerve pain in my leg 89-90 not sure which year Was not told a thing about it being a psych med thought it was a pain killer no info about psych side effects I went nuts had hallucinations. As I had a head injury and was diagnosed with a concussion in 85 I was sent to a head injury clinic in 1990 five years after the accident. I don't think they knew I had been on prozac I did not think it a big deal and never did finish the bottle of pills. I had tests of course lots of them. Was put into a pain clinic and given amitriptyline which stopped the withdrawal but had many side effects. But I could sleep something I had not done in a very long time the pain lessened. My mother got cancer in 94 they switched my meds to Zoloft to help deal with this pressure as I was her main care giver she died in 96. I stopped zoloft in 96 had withdrawal was put on paxil went nutty quit it ct put on resperidol quit it ct had withdrawal was put on Effexor... 2years later celexa was added 20mg then increased to 40mg huge personality change went wild. Did too fast taper off Celexa 05 as I felt unwell for a long time prior... quit Effexor 150mg ct 07 found ****** 8 months into withdrawal learned some things was banned from there in 08 have kept learning since. there is really not enough room here to put my history but I have a lot of opinions about a lot of things especially any of the drugs mentioned above. One thing I would like to add here is this tidbit ALL OPIATES INCREASE SEROTONIN it is not a huge jump to being in chronic pain to being put on an ssri/snri and opiates will affect your antidepressants and your thinking. As I do not update much I will put my quit date Nov. 17 2007 I quit Effexor cold turkey. http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/topic/1096-introducing-myself-btdt/ There is a crack in everything ..That's how the light gets in

Muddles
My friends customer had his Parkinson's meds stopped due to re-call a few weeks ago. I wonder if this has anything to do with that? 2008 - Doctors appointment with stress induced anxiety led to Citalopram prescription. Severe adverse reaction Mirtazapine prescribed - adverse reaction but told to stay on. Poop out - December 2013 15mg Currently on 13.5mg, April 12mg May 10th - 11mg June 10th - 10mg July 8th - 9mg September - 0mg
Member cymbaltawithdrawal5600 Posted September 27, 2014 Member Share Posted September 27, 2014 The link to the article on drug induced Parkinsonism worked better when I stripped the ".)" from the end of it: http://www.todaysgeriatricmedicine.com/archive/082510p24.shtml So was Mr. Williams on antidepressants at all? Why did the BOM's first paragraph read thusly: I sincerely doubt that there will come a time when some pill will come along that will quickly whisk away the kind of profound depression that Robin Williams was apparently suffering. He was no stranger to feel better pills, and chose not to take them – to his credit. There were a myriad of risk factors we know about: waning celebrity; financial problems; a cancelled tv series; the diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease [which can be associated with Depression over and above as a stressor]. He was sleeping 18 hours a day and had no appetite. In his last picture, his weight loss is obvious. if it was not the truth? But where did he get his information? Alto, your statement in the comments reads entirely differently but I will not ask where you got your information. (I just re-read your comment and see you were hypothesizing, sorry.) Was Mr. Williams on drugs or not? Sleeping 18 hours a day is not insomnia to me. This whole thing stinks and the MM Q-backing seems to be based on conjecture and therefore not valid. I wonder if they ever will release a toxicology report so we will know for sure. I have a fatalistic viewpoint toward all of this: in many cases, suicide cannot be prevented no matter how much we would like to think so. Some just are not successful and some are. Either way, it is a tragedy. The worse tragedy (I am coming to see) is when it comes as a result of the horrible effects of psych drugs. I remember Acetyl and my heart aches. A search (after I posted this) brought me to a site where this was written: Almost exactly 53 years after Hemingway’s suicide, another American icon, Robin Williams, entered a psychiatric facility in Minnesota (July 1, 2014). He had been given an as yet unknown cocktail of prescription drugs that resulted in his losing weight and withdrawing from his loved ones, sleeping, after his discharge later that month, in his darkened bedroom up to 20 hours a day, in an apparent drug-induced stupor. But the article goes on to say things about "drug cocktails" that don't sound so definite. Where are they getting this information? I guess the 'they' here is the writer of the article, a Dr. Gary Kohls. How is he so sure of what he writes about Mr. Williams and ANY kind of drugs? Member cymbaltawithdrawal5600 Posted September 27, 2014 Member Share Posted September 27, 2014 My guess is that someone already has the results but they are not being released. Possibly for damage control reasons? It is pretty close to 6 weeks later. Or are they waiting for results other than 'toxicology'? We will find out one of these days or never at all. Sheesh, it is easier to penetrate the Al Queda network. Says here http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2014/03/17/the-reckoning Adam Lanza took lexapro at 13 or that is the the age of which they took him to see Dr Paul J Fox "Kathleen Koenig, a nurse specialist in psychiatry at Yale, gave some follow-up treatment. While seeing her, Adam tried Lexapro, which Fox had prescribed. Nancy reported, “On the third morning he complained of dizziness. By that afternoon he was disoriented, his speech was disjointed, he couldn’t even figure out how to open his cereal box. He was sweating profusely . . . it was actually dripping off his hands. He said he couldn’t think. . . . He was practically vegetative.” Later the same day, she wrote, “He did nothing but sit in his dark room staring at nothing.” Adam stopped taking Lexapro and never took psychotropics again, which worried Koenig. She wrote, “While Adam likes to believe that he’s completely logical, in fact, he’s not at all, and I’ve called him on it.” She said he had a biological disorder and needed medication. “I told him he’s living in a box right now, and the box will only get smaller over time if he doesn’t get some treatment.” This is one reporters account after talking with the father who had not seen his son in a couple of years. btdt
The reports on Adam say there were no drugs in his system that does not rule out withdrawal or severe adverse reactions and we all know how very long and difficult that can be for us supposedly adult people who have or had life skills and problems solving skill of functional adults. How different the story may be for a child especially a child who was already having a difficult time. We can only guess. Few others than us would even consider this since the drug was not in his body at the time. Moderator Emeritus mammaP Posted October 1, 2014 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted October 1, 2014 I wasn't sure where to put this but here is as good as any. I was reading a magazine ( yes a real paper one! That is a step forward!) Someone who writes about mental health said that 15% of suicides are people with 'undiagnosed depression' . That leaves 85% who are potentially receiving treatment. Says it all really! I need to see if I can find it again and give the link or the name of the author. Someone who wrote a book. That narrows it down a lot **I am not a medical professional, if in doubt please consult a doctor with withdrawal knowledge. btdt
I wonder how many of the 85% never thought of suicide till the took the drug... I never... suicide never crossed my mind I did not even know anyone at the time who had ever attempted suicide.... it was a long time ago... but from then till now is like night and day. I know so many people now who have killed themselves and so many more who have made an attempt and yes... all I know of were drugged not one person who killed themselves or made an attempt on their lives that I know was not taking a psych drug. We could suspect that because of the changes in my life I have sought out help and meant people in programs ect who were ill hence it would make sense if they were dying all around me... but the truth of it is I have not bothered with any legit support system in years and no groups in over a decades or more....so the people I am taking about are not falling into the frequent flyer of phsych program awards these are average people next door who have the suicide issue. In my mind it is spelling out that the drugs are the cause if not completely they sure are helping a lot of people die... or make them wish they were dead and you know I get it... after living thru all I have I completely understand it... I think most did not know the drug was causing their problems Saddest thing ever! Even if he was, my guess is they will hide it from the public. Sorry for my cynacism but I am sure you all understand. And even if he wasn't that does not mean he was not suffering the withdrawal effects of the drugs that could well have been long out of his system but the changes the drug made to his brain would change how he reacted to further drugging say for Parkinsons... which may have been drug induced too. He he were taken off the Ads because of the Parkinsons symptoms ( the reason the neurologist told me to get off Effexor) if he was then put on a parkison drug... I was given mirapex... I had a severe reaction to one pill. I did not have any knowledge of hypersensitivity after quitting Ads I did not know anything people on this site know... but the mirapex messed me up so much I just stopped and refused further drugging... well almost I tried a small dose of lyrica quit that too. Point you don't have to be taking antidepressant drugs to suffer a suicidal reaction to further drugging or just plain quitting we wish it were so simple. When I started this I thought it would be that simple I thought get this effexor out of my body I will get better... we here all know now that is not how this duck quacks not even close. All sorts of things are possible we are only guessing that toxicology report would be interesting but so would a history of the drugs he had been taking a how long he had been on and when he changed drugs or dose it makes a huge difference ... btdt
Still looking for news on the toxicology report on Robin Williams. As reported by this site (and yes I know they aren't always accurate): The new date for the autopsy results has been moved to November 3 from its original date of September 30. Have no idea where all the threads pertaining to Williams are located so I put this here. I am still vitally interested in whether he was on meds or not. Previous threads about Robin Williams at SA can be found here: https://www.google.ca/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=Survivingantidepressants.org%20-%20%22robin%20williams%22 WARNING THIS WILL BE LONG Had a car accident in 85 Codeine was the pain med when I was release from hosp continuous use till 89 Given PROZAC by a specialist to help with nerve pain in my leg 89-90 not sure which year Was not told a thing about it being a psych med thought it was a pain killer no info about psych side effects I went nuts had hallucinations. compsports
btdt, I am not sure what I was thinking when I wrote RW wasn't the antidepressant type. I guess because he did alot bicylcling, I wondered if he had decided that was the way to deal with his depression vs. taking a med. And there were some reports saying that was the case. I think your points inferring that we are just never going to really know what happened because of there being too many issues are right on target. Drug cocktail 1995 - 2010 Started taper of Adderall, Wellbutrin XL, Remeron, and Doxepin in 2006 Finished taper on June 10, 2010 Temazepam on a PRN basis approximately twice a month - 2014 to 2016 Beginning in 2017 - Consumption increased to about two times per week April 2017 - Increased to taking it full time for insomnia
btdt
Since his death I have watched many videos of his comedy and some of them refer to antidepressants sounded to me like he has some first hand knowledge they are so common now about everyone knows the names of a few Ads and knows some one who takes them could be he did not write the material. I think he took the pills no reason for believing except his work load ...Effexor is one drug you can take a work like a dog that I know first hand...and how it all ended of course that too. btdt
o be diagnosed with Lewy body dementia, you must have experienced a progressive decline in your ability to think, as well as two of the following: Fluctuating alertness and thinking (cognitive) function Repeated visual hallucinations Parkinsonian symptoms In addition, one or more of the following features are considered supportive of the diagnosis of Lewy body dementia: REM sleep behavior disorder, a condition in which people act out their dreams during sleep Autonomic dysfunction, which involves instability in blood pressure and heart rate, poor regulation of body temperature, sweating, and related symptoms No single test can diagnose Lewy body dementia. Instead, doctors diagnose your condition through ruling out other conditions that may cause similar signs and symptoms. There is nothing on this list I have not had either when still taking E or after I quit. I my mind this does not rule out damage caused by drugs. There for the grace of God go I ... must work at being more grateful and work harder to make these dangers known. Some how I keep faltering... still. Radar site linked above.. John
Apparently he was on remeron; http://www.madinamerica.com/2014/11/robin-williams-antidepressant-time-suicide/#more-49786 On Venlafaxine XR 75mg > 20 years, because a general MD decided to try these new "calming pills" taken from his sample closet because my pulse was a little high since I get nervous going to the doctor. June 2010 - Cold turkey September 2010 - Sudden onset of EXTREME anxiety, constant terror and fear that got marginally better at night. I had no idea what or why this was; had no idea it was the quitting of Effexor. December 2010 - reinstated 75mgs Effexor XR, felt no better months later January 2011 - Began 5% taper every month 2012 - Anxiety began improving by had many windows and waves January 2014 - Fell back into sudden onset of same anxiety, fear as in 2010; realized I was tapering too quickly. I was not allowing withdrawal effects to dissipate before another taper. Began 2% taper every 6 to 8 months 2016 - Fear, anxiety began to wane 2017, 18 & 19 - Constant Fear & anxiety stopped, just occasional minor bouts that lasted 3 days or so December 2020 - Now at ~31mgs Effexor XR, 5mgs Crestor November 2022 - Added 6% minoxidil and 0.3% finasteride topical. Used for a year. Got systemic side effects. Quit 11/19/2023. Also intermittently used 10 to 20mgs propanolol for adrenaline surges/pvcs. Stopped them also on 11/19/2023. Pitykitty
I agree with everyone and its so very tragic. I loved Robin Williams' comedy. Yet I found his dramatic performances most impressive. My favorite was "Dead Poets Society". Famous or unknown..its sad to lose anyone to the raw feeling of hopelessness. Rest in peace.

Member cymbaltawithdrawal5600 Posted November 21, 2014 Member Share Posted November 21, 2014 Thanks Alto and yes, move it to Media. It might cause some people to find SA. I don't think it should have been private to begin with. What happened and how I arrived here: http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/topic/4243-cymbaltawithdrawal5600-introduction/#entry50878 July 2016 I have decided to leave my story here at SA unfinished. I have left my contact information in my profile for anyone who wishes to talk to me. I have a posting history spanning nearly 4 years and 3000+ posts all over the site. Thank you to all who participated in my recovery. I'll miss talking to you but know that I'll be cheering you on from the sidelines, suffering and rejoicing with you in spirit, as you go on in your journey. Member cymbaltawithdrawal5600 Posted November 25, 2014 Member Share Posted November 25, 2014 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rejBw0Ti_R4 I found this quite by accident and was completely fascinated (but doesn't mean you will be too....) Quote: "The host, Dr. Kirk Honda, is a professor at Antioch University Seattle and a licensed therapist. Co-host Humberto Castaneda provides the layperson's voice." In this podcast they discuss Robin's suicide and why it had such an impact on people. They reference this interview (which I googled) : youtube dot com/watch?v=5tLi1Mc7g30 I obfuscated the link because the man's podcast is called "WTF" and of course, we all know a saying that fits that acronym. It starts off as definitely NSFW. At about 50 minutes into the Seattle podcast is a very interesting take on maybe WHY Robin might have done this. With interesting ties to the movie he made, "Awakenings". Spooky.
