Ikam,

How unnerving, I'm sorry you had to go through that after weeks of psyching yourself up for this.

If the NHS wasn't so understaffed, they could have had a back-up doctor to do the procedure instead.

Hopefully you won't have to wait long before you get notified again.

TC,

JC

I'm so sorry to hear that. I know how miserable that prep is. I've been through it.

Hopefully you can get in very soon and get it overwith.

Feel better. :)

Great work in getting that procedure done and getting through the discomfort of the preparation and the procedure. It must be a relief to have that in the "history books" instead of looming in the future.

I am third day after and still feeling very weak...is this normal?

Getting back to my supplement regime.

Requested my blood test to be repeated, hence have not restarted iron and zynk yet.

Hopefully I will have them done next week...

It is 4 months since my bad blood results and doctors have done nothing apart from continuing investigation...I am not really impressed with the free Healthcare...

Remember, You've come out of long wave and here many, many nervous system cells in the gut.  Your CNS is probably much more sensitive it might have been before you took psych meds or while you had been taking a stable dose for a months/years.

Practice good self-care and keep things simple and gentle. You'll get through this too. :)

Great to hear that the procedure went well and had such a positive result.  One less thing to have to worry about.  It's been a very stressful couple of months so it's pretty normal that you should feel worn out.  Let your self rest and things will start to feel better.

20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013.

Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks.  The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better.

Final Dose 0.016mg.     Current dose 0.000mg 04-15-2017

Thank you Brass. I am on leave now, trying to rest. Still having problems with diarrhoea, which I think is normal after all laxatives I took last week and two weeks before.

Had my blood tests, still anemia I read that tinnitus may relate to low iron and ferritin.

Got myself back on iron supplement...

Perhaps anemia contributes to responding with high sensitivity to any tappering, as my energy levels are almost none...?

It will be interesting to see what happens as your iron level improves, you may be on to something there.

I did not realise that it was so low, and I guess it had been like this for long...

I restarted Ionic Iron. It is with Fulvic Acid that improves absorption.

The blood results show up that I am low on ferritin which is a form of iron reserves in the body. They are highly depleted in my body. No wonder that I get tired so quickly, I also sweat a lot and have this horrible pulsating tinnitus, + in times just usual tinnitus...

I have also other symptoms that seem to be associated with anemia, such as low tolerance, irritation, concentration problems...

Also joint pain could be associated with anemia...

I will monitor this closer...

I think that as WD puts the body under an enormous strain, the aspects of any deficiency and weakness come up to the surface...

Hence, it is so important to prepare the body for this additional stress...

Strange symptom, bradycardia...as low as 54 heart beats...don't know why, but since the colonoscopy my body seems a bit out of balance...

restarted iron, but it should not cause slow heart beat (?)

very low in mood, it has been like this since a colonoscopy...bit over than 10 days...maybe it all upset my balance and added an additional burden to my already depleated body...it has started before colonoscopy, as I had to do a preparation twice...so it has started around 21st march...
i have no motivation for anything...feel very, very weak...

I will need to get back to work on Tuesday...don't really want, but I don't want anything...being very passive...

Hi, ikam. I wish it worked that way. If I were you I would not change the doxepin, that will confuse your situation quite a lot as we won't know where symptoms are coming from.

Hmm...you right, I also wishe it was simpler...I have been on Doxepin for long and on tricyclic antidep. for many years, never had problems with stopping them...hence i was hoping i could experiment a little on this...

i am only getting better from colonoscopy, it set me back with my health, last week i was so weak, but regaining my energy slowly...reinstating iron and zync at present...(my ferritin is really low + moviprep depleted me from electrolytes)

still have problem with tinnutis...pulsating one and hissing, mostly in my right ear...i will ask my doctor to send me to a consultatnt...

After a visit to gastro (follow-up): he was great, really listened to me, was empathetic and respectful. He is going to write to GP, as I requested, that I dont have an internal bleeding but malabsoprption, that I need to get intravenous iron and that i need probiotics (VSL#3).

He said I don't have anaemia but iron deficiency and that most my symptoms related to this...(such as ringing in the ears, severe exhaustion, restless legs)...

So there is light in a tunnel...and hopefully this will help with tapering...

Since the colonoscopy (I had to go through Movi-Prep twice), my body seems to be "irritated", I have tinnitus, as I mentioned but also strange nerve signals going through my leg, as if I feel the electricity going alongside one of the nerves.

I am going to try something called sports-electrolyte-fix- liquid, in a very tiny dose...http://www.viridian-nutrition.com/Shop/Sports-Electrolyte-Fix-Liquid-P698.aspx

I am tired of tinnitus and worried it may be the sign of something very wrong in my body...that I will never heal...everything has been on increase...

it may also relate to low ferritin...

I wake up everyday with hearing my heart rate in my right ear, it occurs also during the night and when I go to sleep...during the day, when it is quiet I have this annoying hissing sound...

I try to ignore them, as there is no "quick-fix"...

The nerve sensation in my leg, right leg, happens during the night as well, it goes from my foot toward the knee, on the outside...weird feeling...

I have been reading a book on Tinnutis, learnt something- that we all have some degree of a noise, but we learn to clasify as non-important...

it may be similar with wd symptom, we may get "attracted" to them...and out brain becomes "interested" this contributes to anxiety, and so on, so on...

I do deal best with symptoms when I am occupied, have no time to get connected to symptoms...

I am not saying that we do not have symptoms, but they can be magnified and minimising depending on our emotional response...

I have been holding again, I will wait until iron infusion, I guess for another month...

Interesting ideas about tinnitus.  I get it mildly, but it still intrigues me how it comes and goes.  I notice that during difficult yoga poses, it suddently gets a lot worse, and I wonder what that means.  I generall take it as a signal that I need to ease away from the intensity.  And then it gets worse when I turn over at night, then eases again after 30 seconds.  What a strange thing.

2010  Fluoxetine 20mg.  2011  Escitalopram 20mg.  2013 Tapered badly and destabilised CNS.  Effexor 150mg.

2015 Begin using info at SurvivingAntidepressants.  Cut 10% - bad w/d 2 months, held 1 month.

Micro-tapering: four weekly 0.4% cuts, hold 4 weeks (struggling with symptoms).

8 month hold.

2017 Micro-tapering: four weekly 1% cuts, hold 4 weeks (symptoms almost non-existent).

2020 Still micro-tapering. Just over 2/3 of the way off effexor. Minimal symptoms, - and sleeping well.
Supplements: Fish oil, vitamin C, iron, oat-straw tea, nettle tea.

2023 December - Now on 5 micro-beads Effexor. Minimal symptoms but much more time needed between drops. Symptoms begin to increase.

2024 April - Updosed to 6 microbeads - immediate increase in symptoms for 4 days. Decreased to 5 microbeads.
