Thanks for the bear hugs, Lex! ???? It feels like I have been in a fog for more than five years and am about to get out if it.

It's soon your turn. Big hugs back to you!

Amy. I'm so pleased that you're feeling hopeful about the last part of your taper. You deserve this as you have worked so hard and been extremely patient throughout this process.

I hope it all goes well from hereon in and it's a smooth transition to becoming drug free. I can sense your excitement about the prospect and I'm so happy for you.

I'm cheering you on , as we all are to the finish line.  :)

Sending a big ((((( hug )))))

Still feel good.

I had a blood check up a few days ago, on my initiative, and it shows that I have iron deficiency. So I have to take iron supplements.

I hope they go well with the last tiny zoloft.

Otherwise, everything was fine. Low in natrium, but still ok. That could be from ssris, I read.

I found that zoloft can affect the absorption of iron in the blood. Hey, wonderful drug! :)

It looks like all SSRIs affect Iron absorption.  I'm shaking my head here - been struggling for months with iron issues, but of course my doctor didn't connect this.  Thanks Amy for posting what you found here.

I was very glad to read that you got through your latest hurdle okay.

2010  Fluoxetine 20mg.  2011  Escitalopram 20mg.  2013 Tapered badly and destabilised CNS.  Effexor 150mg.

2015 Begin using info at SurvivingAntidepressants.  Cut 10% - bad w/d 2 months, held 1 month.

Micro-tapering: four weekly 0.4% cuts, hold 4 weeks (struggling with symptoms).

8 month hold.

2017 Micro-tapering: four weekly 1% cuts, hold 4 weeks (symptoms almost non-existent).

2020 Still micro-tapering. Just over 2/3 of the way off effexor. Minimal symptoms, - and sleeping well.
Supplements: Fish oil, vitamin C, iron, oat-straw tea, nettle tea.

2023 Now on 7 micro-beads of Effexor. Minimal symptoms but much more time needed between drops.

I am not surprised, Karen. Those drugs change so many things to the worse. Are you taking iron supplements? If so, have they helped? I just started a few days ago. (My hemaglobulin level was 119 and s-ferritin only 6.)

Take care!

What is the normal range for hemoglobin? In US I believe it's 11-14 for women. I once had as low as 6 before meds time. I had to get IV to bring it back. Hope the iron tablet slides in smoothly.

Hemaglobin for women should be between 121-151 g/L (or 12.1-15.1 g/dl) as we measure it. I think it's the same in US?

Ferritin is the iron stored in protein in the body and should be between 9-150 microgram/L, preferably around 80 (what I was told).

My ferritin was at 9, which my doctor felt was extremely low.  The levels I was given say 20 should be the lowest, and 80 is preferable.

I am taking a supplement - something called haemo-red which I got from my herbal dispensary.  I also drink a strong cup of nettle tea each day.  My energy levels significantly improved, though I haven't had my actual levels tested again.  I started them both at the same time, so can't say if it was both or one supplement.

I was so relieved to read your post about it because I couldn't figure out why my diet (meat, eggs, fish, nuts, seeds, greens, as well as vitamin c to help me absorb it) wasn't giving me enough.  Now it makes sense.

Karen, I thought I had a good diet too, lots of green veggies, eggs, meat, nuts etc.

Now I take iron supplements (Ferrous sulphate) 200 mg a day. It's from the pharmacy (but no prescription is required). If you have a big deficiency I read that supplements from the health store is not enough. Just something to consider.

All the best,

Amy

I have dropped to 0.16 mg. Vertigo the first day, otherwise managable wd symptoms. I feel quite stable.

Actually more side effects from the tiny dose than wd symptoms.

Maybe one more drop...then! I feel a bit nervous going to zero. How will it feel?

Started on 25 mg Zoloft in March 2011 due to stressrelated tinnitus that gave me panicattacks. Had a terrible reaction to Zoloft from start, but was told to "hold on". After four months I was stuck. Therefore the long taper. Crazy, I know... Super sensitive to drops and have dropped by 4-6 % from the previous dose.

Hi Amy. I was going to post the link on dropping to zero but realized there was nothing much there. There was a question from you about dropping to zero . LOL.  :blink:

I can only think that Tom would be the one to talk to. Is he zero , yet ? He's close for sure.

Many SSRI's and SSNRI's over 20 years. Zoloft for 7 years followed by Effexor, Lexapro, Prozac, Cymbalta, Celexa, Pristiq, Valdoxan, Mianserin and more - on and off. No tapering. Cold turkey off Valdoxan - end of May 2014

No, I'm dragging my feet. Too much going on right now. I'll probably hold until February and then take the plunge. I'm totally excited for you Amy. Just don't rush things.

20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013.

Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks.  The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better.

Final Dose 0.016mg.     Current dose 0.000mg 04-15-2017

Oh my goodness Amy. You might be the lowest here. Like Tom said, don't rush. I can understand that you are possibly excited to be rid of the dreaded Zoloft , but be careful now.

Wow!  So happy for you Amy (and a little jealous I must confess!)!

Be careful as you step off and then you will never have to look back at this other than when you choose.

You are doing so well!

Sertraline 50mg and Clonazapam .375mg from 2000 -- symptoms of dizziness Spring 2012

increased to .5 Clonazapam and 100mg Sertraline -- no improvement

Benzo microtaper from November 2012 to November 2014 (followed benzo sites "taper benzo first")

Started Sertraline taper in December 2014 cut by 25mg to 75mg; 62.5mg 1/1/15 and 50mg on 2/1/15

Held at 50mg through April 5 to use liquid
Reduced dosage in 10% or less drops from 50mg to 25mg -- at single tablet of 25mg on 10/5/15

Transitioned to all liquid for accuracy while tapering -- Horrible insomnia -- back to 25mg liquid and held until October 1, 2016

10/16 -- 11/18 tapered very slowly to 10.6mg.  No real improvement and never really stable so updosed to 12.5mg (1/2 a pill) for convenience and long hold.

After 8+ months of holding with no noticeable improvement decided to add .4ml of liquid Prozac (about 1.5mg) to see if that improves the situation

I was wrong! I only dropped to 0.29 mg. I measured all wrong. I put the pill (now 1 mg on the scale) in a teaspoon (5 ml) water, but only took 0.5 ml away. I realised this today when I woke up in sweat - because yesterday I took the leftover, only 0.5 ml - actually only 0.033 mg zoloft. I thought I had divided the dose in two halves. ...I am back to 0.29 mg today. What a mess. I hope I won't suffer the mistake for too long. I have always been so cautious... Well, well...

Notes for me:

Tuesday 0.29 mg

Wedesday 0.29 mg

Thursday 0.033 mg

Friday 0.29 mg (today)

Hi Amy, don't think too much about it. I made many mistakes along the way and really I guess it's impossible not to have any error along such a long and tedious journey. Last time my friend pushed out all the liquid leaving me in complete puzzle not knowing how much was left, I got a huge panic as a reaction to the situation, but it turned out ok even for my super sensitive brain. I ended up taking 0.1 mg more that day but didn't observe huge hiccup. My panic reaction hurts me more at the end.

Hugs,

Lex

I had head ache and felt disconnected for two, three days, but now I am back to wd normal, I think. Just so extremely tired. But it may also be the iron deficiency. Just want to sleep.

I must say I have the deepest respect for this drug. It's unbelivably powerful, and I am supersensitive. Not a good combination. Just dream about when it's out of my body.

Take care all.

HI from London Amy, Having a great time. Way too much walking through. A lot more crowded than last time I was here.

Hi Lex! Hi Tom!

How great that you have fun in London, Tom! I bet it is crowded with all Christmas shopping going on. Enjoy your trip, and dont forgot the afternoon tea.

I have dropped down to 0.24 mg. Just some vertigo for one day, that was it. Happy for that.

Sending hugs to both of you!

Current dose: 0! Free!  Quit June 2017.

Cheering you on , Amy . You're nearly there. Just a few more inches. :)  Inspirational !

I read your thread and how far you are - I got excited for you! you're so close! I'll be following how your jump goes!

Also - I got information that explains my low iron, even due to good diet + supplements with iron. thanks for that.

Amy, what do you think - will the person be faster if s/he has smaller cuts (ie like 5%) - can she do it more often then? I have inclined to slightly larger drops, because I fear that I feel withdrawal symptoms with whatever size drop and then if I make it smaller I can't do it more often, so my time getting off the drug gets even longer.. but maybe I overdo my nervous system and it must take longer to recover? I don't know...

just wanted your opinion on this, because you have been going with really small steps, and you have long experience. (and p.s. I can't totally forget the timeframe, because I might loose my fertility in couple of years and then I will be childless if I can't get off the drugs soon enough...).

in 2002- 0,5 tablet cipramil for half a year, ended it uneventfully. in 2006 - citalopram for half a year, ended in horrific state, ditched the drugs CT. 2007-2008 not feeling well but drug free. in 2008 prozac 20mg + quetiapine 25mg. 2009 tried to stop, ended up in hole after couple of months, started zoloft. 2009-2011 zoloft 50mg. went to 25mg in 2011 summer, it resulted in half a year horrible suffering. reinstated, changed drugs, nothing happened. by 2012 beginning suddenly felt great and CT meds. after 4 months came suddenly most horrible human suffering that's possible. was started on prozac and questiapine. started tapering slowly, GFCF diet and Hardy Nutritionals vitamins in 2013 summer.

current medications: 1) fluoxetine and quetiapine since Aug 2012; 2) Daily Essential Nutrients by Hardy Nutritionals 7 capsules / since May 2013 + omega3; 3) Gluten-free-casein-free diet since june 2013

Started withdrawing slowly since april 2013. Mostly around 10% cuts.

April'13 - March'14: fluoxetine 40mg -> 19,5mg; quetiapine 50mg -> 40mg
April'14-March'15: fluoxetine 19,5mg -> 14,4mg; quetiapine 40mg -> 22mg

April'15-March'16: fluoxetine 14,4mg -> 7,4mg; quetiapine 22mg -> 15mg

April'16-March'17: fluoxetine 7,4mg -> 5,0mg; quetiapine 15mg -> 7,25mg

April'17-March'18: fluoxetine 5,0mg -> 4,0mg; quetiapine 7,25mg -> 0 (as of 1st Feb 2018)!!!!

April´18-March´19: fluoxetine 4,0mg - > 2,3mg. Jumped off fluoxetine 1,4mg due to pregnancy in July 2019. Oct 2019 severe withdrawal syndrome started.

Took mistakenly a complex for hormonal support that included pregnenolone dec2019-april2020. Stopped it april 2020 and immediately severe akathisia started. Have had life threatening akathisia since, 100% disabled, suicidal, very hard to hold on.
