I’m extremely restless and the fear and brain sensations are awful. I cant get comfortable and my brain is all over the place. Is this just anxiety? I feel like I’m about to burst through my chest but the brain feelings are just freakin awful!! It’s like a drugged, stimulated pressure that’s heavy and spinning. Idk how to describe it. Moderator Emeritus getofflex Posted May 31, 2022 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted May 31, 2022 This shows that your nervous system is activated. This is a classic symptom of ADR and WD. I had this too and still sometimes get it mildly. I know it is quite uncomfortable and bizarre. Please be assured your nervous system will eventually settle down. The best thing is to avoid doing things that rev up your nervous system. Stay away from drama and avoidable stress, intense exercise, overstimulating environments, etc. Do soothing things like prayer, meditation, Walks outside if you are able, listen to soothing music, avoid dramatic movies, etc. 1 Please do not private message me. StarShopping87
I’m wondering what are the chances I had serotonin syndrome from mixing the buspirone and lexarpro? The drug interactions are listed as serious. The er didn’t seem too concerned about serotonin syndrome when I went in 5 days later. Moderator Emeritus getofflex Posted May 31, 2022 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted May 31, 2022 (edited) The chances are very low of your having serotonin syndrome. You were on the drugs for a really short time, and have been off of them for several months. I would suggest trying to do something to distract yourself, and not ruminate about how you feel. Getting outside and getting in touch with nature can be very healing and soothing. This is a good time of year for that, if you aren't having rain or storms. Trying doing something with your hands - knitting, sewing, cooking, house cleaning, walking, building something, drawing, painting, adult coloring books, or anything to get your mind off of how bad you feel. This will help pass the time faster, and probably help lessen your anxiety over your situation. Edited May 31, 2022 by getofflex 2 Please do not private message me. As far as the brain sensations go---well they are very trying at times...lately mine has been getting intense frying shrinking/or tingling/ in various spots---when it does this it feel like I want to rip at it.....like a healing sore and you can't get to it Thankfully it does come and go---What does your brain sensations feel like---not many people talk about it or maybe don't experience it...I like to feel like I am not alone and someone else out there can relate😁 It is not uncommon for waves to last several days to weeks- but they do lift and yours will too....Cry Cry Cry it that helps to get rid of pent up tension and emotions.... Sometimes I can fall back asleep sometimes I can’t.. usually that’s in the mornings. If I wake up in the middle of the night it takes me a good hour or two. Last night I went to bed too early and woke up around 10. It took me a good while to get back to sleep because I thought I was going to bust through my chest with anxiety. I tossed and turned. I have found diamond art before bed very relaxing and helps me fall asleep. That and I’ve gotten back into guided mediation again. I listen to it when I can’t sleep. Usually I tell myself give it a hour and see how you feel. By the time that hour passes I’m usually asleep. I feel like the insomnia has improved some but nights when I’m overstimulated (or the brain stuff is bad) I have a hard time. What's diamond art? Have you every tried adult coloring? Yes, some nights I get around 3-4, but mostly it has improved from month 2. My 2nd month in I stayed awake for 6 days straight so that is where my fear sets in. That was absolutely terrifying. But it has improved since. I had terrible cortisol spike in the beginning. i have the tense sleep as well. I’ve noticed if I sleep hard my symptoms intensify in the morning. I wake up very dizzy and depressed like. I have a hard time getting motivated and I’m usually fatigued throughout the day. Diamond art is basically a picture with a sticky film. You place the diamonds on top and it forms a picture, kinda like painting by numbers. I tried adult coloring but i find diamond art more relaxing. 1 Immediate adverse reaction lexapro 5mg 3x 1/27/22, 1/28/22, 1/30/22 Buspirone 7mg 1x 1/27/22 last dose 1/30/2022 Link to comment

Mentor Greatful Posted June 1, 2022 Mentor Share Posted June 1, 2022 @StarShopping87 I am sorry you had a tough night---things always seem worse at night which I am sure didn't help your with the anxiety.... Someday and even weeks it can feel like you are getting worse...but remember your brain is still working every minute to get it right. You will start to see it slowly come together...The waiting is almost the hardest part and it can place such havoc on our thoughts...If we knew that in x amount of time it would be better then- wow- how much easier it would be to accept and let things be. Can you can try and be kind and gentle with yourself--You are doing the best that you can with this horrible ADR... I wish I understood this- why this happens and why the doctors are not on top of this. I was watching a YT video and on there David Cohen PH.D he said something struck me as a great idea---he thought patients should be getting MRI's done before they start the drug and some while they are on it--To me that would really help us learn more about how these drugs affect our brains...One can only wish/hope that the idea will catch on--especially when they are so many having such a hard time on or trying to get off them...Can you imagine how that would advance medical science-- true data and science..... Let's hope that tonight you will get some sleep....Does it follow a pattern? Mentor Greatful Posted June 1, 2022 Mentor Share Posted June 1, 2022 @StarShopping87 Oh good- I am going to give you something to print out When withdrawal anxiety is high and I am in 'fight' or 'flight' or 'freeze' mode, it is difficult for me to be grounded and to maintain perspective. I lose sight of the fact that this experience is temporary and that it is leading me to my long- awaited recovery. I am consumed with what is happening and it can make me seem self-absorbed and uninterested in my loved ones. This is understandable, as I spend all my time and energy managing the bizarre symptoms, breathing through the pain, and holding on for dear life. I miss important moments in the lives of those around me and I also overlook just how courageous and persevering I have been and continue to be. So today, I acknowledge my strength and I accept that while I may spend much of my time consumed with coping, this does not mean that I am self-centered or selfish. I am just hypervigilant in the context of being constantly aware of my symptoms, and of my environment, always looking for perceived threats. I know that I will revert to normal when this is over. am compassionate and gentle with myself, in the meantime, knowing that no matter how intense and Don't give up on your healing. I know it's difficult to remain hopeful because everyday you struggle with the torture of the intense and bizarre symptoms and it seems as if nothing is changing. So I am here to be the rational, "non-withdrawal" voice in your head and to remind you of the reality : that no matter how long it is taking, this challenge is temporary. One day you will wake up and something will be different. It will be more than a "window", it will be the long-awaited break, the last lap, the finishing line in view. Then it will be over, and you will be able to navigate your way out from under the rubble, brush yourself off, pick up the pieces and get on with your life. What awaits you on the other side is worth you holding on for. Nothing in life will ever again faze you. You will have a different perspective on life, and it won't take much to make you feel content. Don't give up on your healing. I know it's difficult to remain hopeful because everyday you struggle with the torture of the intense and bizarre symptoms and it seems as if nothing is changing. Kinda had a rough day due someone messaging me about healing…. Was not positive at all so Needless to say I’ve cried a lot and stopped talking to her immediately. This week has been rough in general. A lot of pressure with crushing headaches and ear pain. The pain comes with pressure so I don’t suspect infection. A lot of inner anxiety and restlessness, erratic sleep. Last night I had waves of fear and tons of anxiety so I was up all night. I eventually settled down after guided meditation. I think I may be getting cortisol spikes in the morning as I feel like I’ve drank 20 shots of espresso and im all over the place but it eventually settles later on in the day. Im exhausted! Lots of emotions and thoughts ( some intrusive). I got a message out of the blue from my ex’s widow which stirred up alot of unwanted feelings and thoughts. I had trauma around my ex and they put me through hell. He passed away last year which I have yet to accept so naturally my cns was greatly disturbed by her messaging me. It wasn’t anything bad, actually very positive, but the rumination and looping thoughts were atrocious. Still dealing with that but it’s calming down. Anxiety and fear are still a great pain in the a$$! Thanks for checking in, hope all is well with you. StarShopping87
Looking for Thoughts and/or opinions on exposure therapy.. Is it too much or a good idea to break up some of the fear and anxiety? Just wondering if I should start exposing myself a little at a time but I don’t want to risk upsetting my cns greatly with the hypersensitivity to stimulation. Im wondering how much some of this is in my head.. like for instance the tv. I feel overstimulated by looking at it, but now I’m wondering if I really am or if it’s fear of going into a wave by watching it. Moderator Emeritus getofflex Posted June 12, 2022 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted June 12, 2022 If it were me, I would wait until I recovered from this adverse reaction before doing exposure therapy. StarShopping87
@getofflexthats what I was thinking since I read it’s a bad idea to do any trauma work right now. A girl had told me exposure really helped her during recovery but I definitely don’t want to make anything worse. I’m extremely sensitive to anything right now as far as stress and emotions. Is that normal for adr people? To be this sensitive? It’s like if I get mad, or scared or anything I’ll pay for it with sleep. Last night I maybe got 3 hours of sleep. I was upset about something then the looping thoughts kicked into high gear and I felt extreme anxiety and fear all night. The smallest noises scared the crap out of me. I was thinking about a bottle of perfume while In the shower and it scared me lol. Like what the heck!! I had a very off day yesterday so I think it was the start of my wave. Also, I’ve noticed this adr has made me relive traumatic experiences. Even like trauma from my childhood that never in a million years I would have thought about. So weird! Yes, it is, because ADR and WD are very similar, in that our brains have temporary iatrogenic damage, and are destabilized. This tends to cause activation, meaning easily stressed, insomnia, anxiety, racing thoughts, agitation, etc. 32 minutes ago, StarShopping87 said: It’s like if I get mad, or scared or anything I’ll pay for it with sleep.
