I ask because some times pain meds can have a paradoxical effect, causing pain instead of relieving it. esp in someone sensitized to meds. regarding CBD oil, there's a topic about it here: it's unfortunately quite long and starts off talking about interactions with meds, so I don't know if there's an answer to your question in there or not https://www.survivingantidepressants.org/forums/topic/18698-cannabis-marijuana-hashish-thc-cbd-cannabidiol-or-hemp-oil/#comment-85476 anecdotally, some members have tried it and felt it helped with WD symptoms, others did not have a good reaction or felt it made things worse I don't know if this forum has any official stance on the safety of CBD oil I looked into research on using it for pain, and did not find anything convincing. There weren't many good studies, the randomized controlled trials (RCTs) There don't seem to be very many good studies on the drug your dr recommends, either, I found one trial that shows that it's mildly effective, but only for a short period of time. The pain returned. IF you are determined to want to ingest something to try to deal with this pain, I'm going to step away from this thread, as I worry about the outcome and care about you, and don't want to see you end up being worse off. I'd really love to hear that you've honestly tried non drug methods, yes they require effort on your part, but they do indeed work and more importantly, they're safe. Or at least safer (I have reservations about chiropractic care myself but that's just me) The choice is always yours. It sucks to be in this position. It really does. it sucks that the medical systems in your country and in mine are so ineffective {and in the US, so profit driven that real effective care is not the top priority any more.} It's a royal pain in the a$$ that as patients, we have to do so much on our own to figure out what will help us, but on the other hand- there is some freedom in this we have the freedom away from the drs biases, to see what TRULY helps us and to adjust what we do to what works best. I considered it when I had really severe nerve pain, but was ultimately too afraid to try it. I believe it can take some trial and error in terms of finding the right strain. If you were to try, as always, start low and go slow. Personally, I think it's a safer option than pharmaceuticals, but that's just me. You could try topical first? Less systemic absorption that way. It's in Canada so unfortunately they're won't treat you but I mention it because it was news to me that such a place exists. It's not one-size-fits-all. You need the right combination of ingredients for your system. They have a large range of products and they choose one for you based on a long intake interview. Maybe there's a similar place that treats people in the UK. They also have information for patients and professionals online including this on chronic pain https://greenleafmc.ca/our-learning-centre/chronic-pain 1995-present: on and off various antidepressants, and many changes in dose. I read glycinate is good for pain and causes less diarrhea than some forms. Usually people take it orally but there are brands you spray on your skin. I don't know how effective they are but I imagine they're even less likely to give you diarrhea than oral magnesium. 1995-present: on and off various antidepressants, and many changes in dose. More about those in the main topic: Magnesium: nature's calcium channel blocker Unfortunately the links in the first post there aren't connected anymore to the posts in that topic, but I found a few on the first page that pertain. And it may be worth it to you, to go through the rest of the topic to see if there is a situation of pain/burning similar to yours that someone got relief from And then there is more in the following posts, pertaining to using some magnesium topically. I've seen lotions and sprays sold in the more natural type shops too. Always cheaper to make your own. Seems that magnesium citrate is mentioned, as well as Epsom salts to make a lotion, cream, or spray. Glycinate orally, might help you relax enough to sleep better, and have an overall calming effect whole body. Thus, calming the affected area. Worth a try. Read the first post in the topic as well. And don't overdo, with too many different types of magnesium at once, that could create more problems. Do report back if you try magnesium, and how it went. If it helped, even a wee bit would be sooooo nice I'm sure. There are other options if you're willing to give them a try I assure you there are others with the same problem, but it would likely take you hours of reading to find them and many have commented on your thread about their issues with long term pain and what they did for it. I know it can be hard to think of other things when you are in pain but chronic pain is sadly quite common for people in general and as hard as it is, it doesn't do you any good to focus so much on it. What is going on in your day to day life? what sorts of things do you enjoy doing? as incredible as it may seem it is possible to live a good life in spite of the pain. People do it all the time The choice is yours. Find things that you enjoy and immerse yourself in those things. Play music, dance if you feel up to (an excellent suggestion I'm stealing from someone else, hahaha) Go for a walk in nature Play with your sweet rats! oh I wish I had some rats to cuddle! hang out with friends watch a funny movie go out to a sporting event if you like that sort of thing take up a hobby have you tried yoga? It can be very helpful for all sorts of WD symptoms soon this symptom will pass and maybe there will be a new one in it's place but nothing lasts forever see if you can try to focus on what you can do, and try to put the pain in the background I had searing burning pain in my feet when I went off a high dose of Depakote, so I know that what I am asking of you is not easy believe me, I know!! but since nothing else that you've done so far has helped, you just keep going til you find something that does and sometimes that means trying hard not to think about those things you are not currently able to change I had tinnitus for many many months, and it drove me mad! I hated it so much! but the more I hated it and was angry about it, the worse it got When I finally accepted that and tried to make friends with it, the happier I was until one day I realized that the ringing was gone! it had slipped away when I wasn't paying attention I am praying that something similar happens for you Tell me what the last thing was that you did for fun, please. Doctorsrcrap
Thank you. I have back pain when standing and it hurts to walk and I get some pain in my buttocks on standing however the second I sit or lay it is scorching and just unbearable. Mentor Happy2Heal Posted June 13 Mentor Share Posted June 13 also have you tried NOT walking and not spending much time on your feet (if possible) ? in other words, have you tried resting it? it sounds a lot like either sciatica or piriformis syndrome (not really related to WD at all) do you ride a bike? there are so many different things that can cause those symptoms - surely the dr must have had some idea what the likely cause was? removing the cause would be the first thing I'd want to do, assuming that was possible. Do you not think it's withdrawal? to answer your last question first- these kinds of pains have so very many causes!!! I'm not a Dr so I can't really say but I would want all of the more common causes totally ruled out first that's just me I think you need to wait til you hear back from the specialist and see what they have to say, don't you? Just reading the MRI report is not the same as talking to a dr Your dr isn't just going to read the report, he will look at the full scan himself and make his own judgement about what it means. when do you see the dr? Barry2954
Has your doctor tested you for diabetes? Insulin resistance and diabetes can be induced by antipsychotics and seem to have similar symptoms to those which you describe. https://diabetesjournals.org/diabetes/article/62/9/3232/33935/Antipsychotic-Induced-Insulin-Resistance-and If so then your condition might not be withdrawal but still be due to the medications as you contend. https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/diabetic-neuropathy Excessive sweating is normal in diabetes. Apparently I don't have anemia either all though I think some of my blood results are questionable. Bur finding a knowledgeable doctor is well...... impossible. I'm seeing the rheumotologist tomorrow for my results. The last MRI I had was with contrast. I thought that was safe. I'm now thinking wad that a mistake?? At this point it just feels like there is danger everywhere. Good luck with the rheumatologist. The sweating seems to be a simple thing to solve as it's listed as a side effect of certain psychiatric medications, specifically beta blockers and antidepressants, on the Mayo clinic page on excessive sweating. https://www.mayoclinic.org/symptoms/excessive-sweating/basics/causes/sym-20050780 When I was taking a look at whether beta blockers, including propanolol, could cause conditions like the sciatica and neuropathic pain which you have described I found that it is possible due to their influence on blood vessels. I found two websites explaining that expanded blood vessels can cause compression of the sciatic nerve (unfortunately on commercial sites so I can't provide you with links here). Poor blood supply to peripheral extremities can cause similar pain to that in peripheral neuropathy. This could be why investigations have failed to prove anything yet. Barry2954
I wonder whether the hypoglycemia which propanolol can induce could persist long after treatment. Hypoglycemia is capable of inducing the symptoms which you describe and, through affecting blood vessels, could possibly induce sciatica. Barry2954
While I have heard doctors and read researchers contending that diseases are irreversible I defer more to the idea that every condition is reversible if the way can be found to do it. I read a while ago that the benzodiazepine induced neurological dysfunction, which I have been symptomatic of, can potentially be irreversible. Since that means that the experts currently don't know how to even try I have been focusing on improving my microbiome, since such damage often derives from damage to microbial balances in our bodies. What I have little trust in is medication to treat everything that goes wrong with us. Before you ask, I wouldn't rush out to buy cannabinoids as there are lots of dietary interventions to try which work as pain relief. 1 Prior medications; sertraline 50mg April sertraline 100mg May to July 2014 (ceased medication immediately upon occurrence of first thunderclap headache) lorazepam April 2014 and November 2014 to January 2015 (each time suppressing symptoms of illness until two weeks after cessation of medication) seroquel November 2014 to January 2015 50mg prior to being raised to 100mg for one day (medication ceased immediately upon occurrence of convulsive seizure) warfarin 1990 to June 2023 Was instructed to 'cease doing anything healthy' by treating psychiatrist in June 2014 (the psychiatrist stating that belief in disease is the cause of disease and that dietary supplementation encourages people to think there's something wrong with us) so only commenced taking supplements again in June 2023 upon contrary instructions from GP. Mentor Happy2Heal Posted June 15 Mentor Share Posted June 15 (edited) 1 hour ago, Doctorsrcrap said: @Happy2Heal All my MRIs came back fine and so did all my blood tests. well, we are just volunteers here, doing our best to support people thru withdrawal we certainly don't have all the answers and we can only do so much when you are faced with a situation that you can't change at the moment, your only options are to accept it and work hard to find ways to cope, or to fight it and waste a lot of time and energy and resources to NO benefit for yourself, in fact, it's more likely to work against your recovery to stay angry and frustrated at things you can't change it's ultimately your choice please do not tag me, I'm on break. I will pop in from time to time, when I am able to. Edited June 15 by Happy2Heal Taking a break from mentoring, please do not message or tag me, thank you! Got some personal stuff to deal with and am not able to give you my full attention. I will remove this reminder when I am back. Keep on swimming, my friends. 😊 pysch med history: 1974 @ age 18 to Oct 2017 (approx 43 yrs total) Drug list: stelazine, haldol, elavil, lithium, zoloft, celexa, lexapro(doses as high as 40mgs), klonopin, ambien, seroquel(high doses), depakote, zyprexa, lamictal- plus brief trials of dozens of other psych meds over the years started lexapro 2002, dose varied from 20mgs to 40mgs. First attempt to get off it was 2007- WD symptoms were mistaken for "relapse". 2013 too fast taper down to 5mg but WD forced me back to 20mgs June of 2105, tapered again too rapidly to 2.5mgs by Dec 2015. Found SA, held at 2.5 mgs til May 2016 when I foolishly "jumped off". felt ok until Sept, then acute WD hit!! reinstated at 0.3mgs in Oct. 2106 Tapered off to zero by Oct. 2017 Doing very well. Nov. 2018 feel 95% healed, age 63 Jan. 2020 feel 100% healed, peaceful and content PRESENT DAYS: Loving life! ❤️ with all it's ups and downs Link to comment

I can't carry on in this amount of pain its just not doable. You would be surprised about how little the experts know about the microbiome. I have been reading articles about specific sub-strains of pathogenic bacteria which are actually healthy and specific substrains of healthy bacteria which actually have negative health consequences. Yet none of this has been officially acknowledged and medical professionals are unlikely to comment on it. This article details how the microbiome regulates neuropathic pain. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7433133/ 1 Prior medications; sertraline 50mg April sertraline 100mg May to July 2014 (ceased medication immediately upon occurrence of first thunderclap headache) lorazepam April 2014 and November 2014 to January 2015 (each time suppressing symptoms of illness until two weeks after cessation of medication) seroquel November 2014 to January 2015 50mg prior to being raised to 100mg for one day (medication ceased immediately upon occurrence of convulsive seizure) warfarin 1990 to June 2023 Was instructed to 'cease doing anything healthy' by treating psychiatrist in June 2014 (the psychiatrist stating that belief in disease is the cause of disease and that dietary supplementation encourages people to think there's something wrong with us) so only commenced taking supplements again in June 2023 upon contrary instructions from GP. Current medications; eliquis since June 2023 Supplements; multivitamin/mineral, zinc, magnesium, calcium/magnesium, vitamin c, vitamin d, spirulina, resveratrol, iron. Link to comment
