If you add some baking soda to the tomato it helps with the heartburn too. I cannot do spice any more either. I get reflux but it also can be a trigger.

Good to know! I actually made spaghetti a few weeks ago and did ground turkey in my tomatoe sauce instead of beef (the boys didn’t even notice) and did okay with it.  I love making spaghetti squash with tomatoe sauce and meat like spaghetti but way healthier!  I’ve had reflux/gerd for a long time, it come and goes.

3 out of 7 days my GF and I eat seperately, I have to stick to a strict weekly diet. @LostInCanada was spot on about checking ingredients, avoiding sauces, creams, processed foods and herbs like mayo. Besides these subs have powerful seeds which can be really tricky. There is a lot to win by changing your diet. The cleaner the better.

We have eaten separately before and if I request he cook something different for me he will.  I’ll have to eat much different now if I’m triggered by foods now also.  A lot of the time he’s working in the evenings still so I’m on my own.

@LostInCanada have you heard of tomatoes causing inflammation? I went to a holistic nurse last year and she told me to stay away from nightshades.

I have heard of that. Since my husband has fibromyalgia, he is supposed to avoid them. Nightshades are high in histamines and can cause inflammation and an unwell feeling.

The only thing I get is heartburn and only if I eat too much.  That’s why I don’t drink, not even wine, it messes me up so bad.  I’m sorry for your husband, is he feeling any better yet?

Nightshades are high in histamines

Histamine can cause a rush in adrenaline which heightens anxiety.

and I didn’t known that about histamines, I’ll have to really be more careful.

Last night was BRUTAL.  I had aka so bad, tossed and turned, was so restless with racing anxiety, tremors, twitching.  Got up at 7:30am got dressed shaking and full of terror and went to feed my horses, as soon as i walked into the barn and got into barn cleaning mode I instantly felt better, I didn’t instantly get dizzy and sick like I have the last few days out here so maybe this is a good sign.  I’m still very weak but I had much more strength then yesterday morning.  I didn’t cry this morning either.  I’m actually sitting on my bench in my barn taking in the fresh air and listening to the birds.  My vision is still bouncing around and making me a little nauseous but it’s tolerable right now.  I can’t wait for the day I can saddle up my horse and go for a ride again!

I do have one more question.  I’ve been getting very strange head sensations that go into my ears and neck as well and make me feel sick, I was getting these before while on my full dose towards the end right before I started tapering but often I would skip doses as well (thinking the med pooped out on me and wasn’t working anymore).  I did not get these feelings when I did my fast taper at all and when I got down to 5mg I haven’t had any until now.  I’m wondering if being back on the 10mg is causing these or if these are withdrawal symptoms?  Could the med have gone paradoxical on me and be causing me more symptoms as well as being in withdrawal?  @Sebas @brassmonkey

Basically what I’m asking is if I’m in tolerance did I do the right thing by reinstating? And will I still stabilize now?

You did the right thing reinstating. Tolerance just adds a dimension to it all but the WD is still there so you lessened the effects of protracted WD. . You will find your WD normal then a slow taper .... everything remains the same as far as procedure. I think when one is on these drugs so long, it is hard to avoid.

Okay thank you, I’m pretty sure I’m in tolerance but because my vision stuff didn’t start until was tapering definitely means it’s a withdrawal symptom and not a tolerance symptom?  If that were the case I would have to taper super fast and that scares me a lot

The vision stuff is from too fast tapering and definitely withdrawal. The only reason to speed up a taper is when there is a major reaction and even then the benefits have to be weighed against withdrawals. The only time to cold turkey is a life threatening reaction.

This is wonderful!  I do often find relief in getting up and just doing SOMETHING.

Taking in the fresh air and listening to the birds is a form of meditation- you can apply this to all activities in your life.  Even when I'm doing dishes, I try to focus on the warmth of the water, the feel of the bubbles, the heaviness of the pots and pans.  Staying absolutely present in the moment has been so key for me being able to cope.  I know you're struggling with motivation to get up and cook- but cooking can be very meditative as well, and you get the added bonus of avoiding additives and all the things that can trigger GI symptoms.  Give it a try- stay in the moment when doing everything, appreciate what you can see, hear, feel, smell, taste, etc... once this way of living becomes habit, withdrawal is much, much easier!

1995- 2007- On and off multiple antidepressants (Prozac, Paxil, Effexor, Wellbutrin, escitalopram). Memory poor- can’t remember dates. Always tapered fast or CT.  2007- tapered Wellbutrin, zopiclone and escitalopram over one month to get pregnant.  Withdrawal hell for many years.

2009- Daughter born 🥰 Post partum depression/psychosis- no meds taken.

2016- Back on escitalopram due to job change/anxiety

2022- Severe covid infection- Diagnosed with long covid 08/22.

2023- 01/23- Long term disability approved for long covid.  Started taper under MD advice from 20mg: 11/23- 15mg. 2024- March-10mg. Started low dose naltrexone for long covid-5mg- terrible reaction, reduced to 0.5mg.  April- 10mg escitalopram, 1.0mg LDN. May 1- 9.0mg escitalopram, 1.0mg LDN. May 15- 9.0mg escitalopram, 1.5mg LDN.  June 12- 8.5mg escitalopram, 1.5mg LDN.  July 8- Brassmonkey micro taper started.  8.4mg escitalopram, 1.5mg LDN.  July 15- 8.3mg esc, 1.5mg LDN.  July 18 8.3mg esc, 2.0mg LDN, July 22 8.2mg esc. 2.0mg LDN. July 29 8.1mg esc. 2.0mg LDN. Aug. 24- 8.0mg Esc. 2.0mg LDN.  Aug. 30 7.9mg esc.  Sept. 6 7.8mg esc.  Sept. 13 7.7mg esc. Sept 21 2.5mg LDN

You’re not the first one to tell me this and I needed to focus on it much more because this morning was absolute solitude and it really set the pace for my whole day to be good/better so far.  I also love taking showers and I focus on the warm water much more then I ever used to.  Same when I pet and smell my horses fur (I love the smell of horse lol) it just brings me to a happy place!  I will focus on those things when I cook again!

I envy you, I wish I was l close to Calgary! I’m a rodeo girl and I would love to see the stampede! I watch on tv or internet all the time.  I’ve had friends from right here in Florida compete in the barrel racing there! I miss barrel racing so much but my horses are enjoying the break.  And yes cleaning stalls and the whole barn is so therapeutic!  Even when I’m not feeling well i love being out there.  I have climbed on my mare bareback a few times lately and just walked around the yard, of course she wants to trot but she’s been good about being careful with Me, it’s like she knows 🥹

Oh my dogs are probably sick of me loving on them so much.  I did just loose my old dog of 10.5 years unexpectedly and that was awful to deal with especially in withdrawal.  I miss him terribly but the others have showed me lots of love, I do walk them every chance I feel well enough to and it’s not To hot, which down here is only early am or almost dark.

That’s awesome! I watched all the heartland seasons and it’s so beautiful where they film.  One day I’ll do Calgary maybe!  I grew up in western, NY so we used to go to Toronto all the time that’s about as far as I’ve gone.  I love Florida though because we have the beaches and I’m 20 mins away in the “country” area, best of both worlds, but it’s hot and no seasons.  Pros - can do things year round!

Yes, love that show. It's in the foothills southwest of Calgary. The beauty of the open prairie on one side and majestic mountains on the other is inspiring. No wonder it's called God's country. (Though I am sure many use that phrase for their part of the world and rightly so as well)

Morning update July 29th (I think)

last night I managed to keep myself calmer but I had the inner vibrating and anxiety feeling for quite a while. I had a few feelings of kind of going mad like screaming but just thoughts because I was so restless on and off.  I was very easily irritated as well.   I watched TV last night a little more comfortably then the night before but by the time I went to bed my eyes hurt so bad I almost took something for it.  I fell asleep okay but woke in the morning restless again with some brain zaps.  I’m very groggy this morning.  My neck hurts again, a weird feeling that crawls up into the back of my head when I get up.  I’m praying today is a better day, I have nothing particular planned and don’t have to go to the barn until this evening.

I haven’t had a lot of these symptoms since I first went into withdrawal I’m assuming this is the windows and waves pattern, and I’m in a bad wave right now.  I hope symptoms subside soon, this is maddening

Well yesterday didn’t go so bad, it was a relaxing day, my symptoms weren’t terrible, I even took my dogs on a longer then usual walk and felt great after.  I slept very well.  I woke up this am very tired but felt relaxed.  I went to the barn to feed horses and noticed I was much more lethargic today.  I pushed myself anyway to clean all 6 stalls and change out waters, fill hay bags, set feed, ect.  It was SO hot and humid I was drenched and running out of steam fast.  I started to feel awful again I think I pushed myself to hard.  My stomach was a mess again this morning also, I had to force myself to eat eggs because I felt so faint.  Now I’m back in bed trying to catch up on rest.  My eyes feel strange, everything still feels so strange and overwhelming sometimes.  Praying for a better afternoon and evening.

Trust me I know. I haven't driven for 1 year and 10 months. I was raised not to rely on anyone. It really is faulty reasoning because I am more than happy to help someone else so why wouldn't I want others to experience that same joy in giving. I've had to reevaluate alot of things from going through this. It's quite the journey.
