Amen to that lol

I again just feel like the withdrawal symptoms are kind of gone and now I’m just in amped up mode.

That is good as far as the WD. Might be best to ride it out. Change of anything can make greater issues.

@LostInCanadayes disability is an option but I guess I’m scared to start that process. I have 2 more weeks (after this week so 2.5) left of sick and vacation time and was hoping to improve enough to work by then. I work from home but this amped up hyper dizzy, sensitized state makes that really hard. No, impossible. But again, just yesterday I was able to log on and send some emails. I’m trying to rationalize if I’m progressing or deteriorating because I can’t freaking tell.

questions and points

1) you mention riding it out, my fear, it will NEVER end. Or am I just simply misunderstanding that? Everything I see makes it sound like if you’re too high you’re DOOMED

but I am thinking I have not yet once been stable dose wise, and I’m FINALLY almost there. My brain should start to adjust right? I think I would have to. I’ve had good times on this dose, it has to me brain trying to keep up with it

2) I am not sleeping but like not tired, at least as much as I should be? What the heck?

3) I cannot shed a tear now as I think the lexapro has built up
4) more of a point: my doctor moved me from 2.5 > 10 > 15 in July 2022. That’s the last time I ever felt like this and I did go away. I’m just scared that damage from back then is why I’ve been so so for 2 years and now I will never recover. I’m only 30, just turned it…

5) I’m insanelyyyyy thirsty

intermittent klonopin 0.5mg this whole time. Never ever felt addicted. Probably averaged 1 a week the entirety of this. Last dose ~April 21, 2024
July 2018 - lexapro 10mg
October 2018 - Lexapro 15mg
November 2018 - July 2022 - various lexapro doses ended at 2.5mg
August 2022 - life events and then strange symptoms lead to increase to 15mg - although I now know this was the start of withdrawal. Stabilize on 15mg in November.
April 2023 - September 2023 taper down on an unregulated basis and stop in September.
Feel great until December 2023 when drinking alcohol several times destabilized me.
January 2024 Reinstate 5mg and taper to 10mg (feel ok but still not sleeping great and weird nerve sensations, convince myself it’s the pill)
February 10 2024 - April 2024 - taper to zero where I spent a week and half before cratering and reinstated on April 21 at 2.5mg using 1/4 pill for 2 days (this provided relief instantly but to me at the time it wasn’t enough), increased on April 23 to 10mg per doctor accompanied with bad activation symptoms and suicidal ideation

April 28 - emergency reduction directly to 1.00mg, May 2 increase per new doctor - to 2.50mg, switch to manufacturer liquid on May 4, May 13 - 2.45, May 14 - 2.40, May 15 - 2.40, May 16 - 2.30. Begin slide down for activation relief (MM/DD) 2024 -> 06/20: 2.26mg

You're not doomed- refer to point #4 above!  You will find balance again.  I was on the revolving drug merry-go-round in my 20s.  Never tapered properly, often quit different drugs from what I now know to be cold turkey dosages.  I was frequently switched from one drug to another with no taper at all, often due to rising liver enzymes, or unbearable side effects.  I thought I was crazy, because according to my doctors, it shouldn't be that hard, and withdrawal effects should be tolerable.  In spite of everything, I did recover.  I won't lie though- I've not been the same since that time.  But I have a theory about that- I really think that I lacked the stability in my life, and the coping skills to deal with what put me on the drugs in the first place, to really allow for complete healing.  I also had further severe trauma two years after stopping, and I truly believe that my healing was completely halted by that.

It sounds to me like you have a supportive family, which will go a long way in helping you get there.  And you strike me as a smart and wise person, so I suspect you will also do the work to figure out how you got to this place, so you never end up here again.  I believe in you!

Oh, and thirsty.... yes!  I went through that too when I dropped from 15 to 10.  I thought I was just dehydrated lol... so much to learn.

1995- 2007- On and off multiple antidepressants (Prozac, Paxil, Effexor, Wellbutrin, escitalopram). Memory poor- can’t remember dates. Always tapered fast or CT.  2007- tapered Wellbutrin, zopiclone and escitalopram over one month to get pregnant.  Withdrawal hell for many years.

2009- Daughter born 🥰 Post partum depression/psychosis- no meds taken.

2016- Back on escitalopram due to job change/anxiety

2022- Severe covid infection- Diagnosed with long covid 08/22.

2023- 01/23- Long term disability approved for long covid.  Started taper under MD advice from 20mg: 11/23- 15mg. 2024- March-10mg. Started low dose naltrexone for long covid-5mg- terrible reaction, reduced to 0.5mg.  April- 10mg escitalopram, 1.0mg LDN. May 1- 9.0mg escitalopram, 1.0mg LDN. May 15- 9.0mg escitalopram, 1.5mg LDN.  June 12- 8.5mg escitalopram, 1.5mg LDN.  July 8- Brassmonkey micro taper started.  8.4mg escitalopram, 1.5mg LDN.  July 15- 8.3mg esc, 1.5mg LDN.  July 18 8.3mg esc, 2.0mg LDN, July 22 8.2mg esc. 2.0mg LDN. July 29 8.1mg esc. 2.0mg LDN. Aug. 24- 8.0mg Esc. 2.0mg LDN.  Aug. 30 7.9mg esc.  Sept. 6 7.8mg esc.

Stay hydrated but don't over hydrate. I've read of others with this. Use the search icon at the top of the page using excessive thirst, etc.

@Catwoman73hey thanks for checking in as always. Yesterday was massively difficult and today hasn’t been a lot better but I’m just trying to watch symptoms ya know? Things are changing some for the better and some worse and I don’t know what to make of it. Like I’m having night terror like things but I was able to sleep a little last night. Teeth pain and headache may be slightlyyyyy improving but more internal neuroanxiety.

here is hour by hour today so far:

7: took dose. Tried to have bowel movement and gut is completely seized again. Haven’t taken a full BM in 48 hours. Now down 20 lbs: 244 to 224 in a month

730: dizziness is increasing

8: head tightness increasing. Idk if any of this is somatic because I basically wait for it ya know.

817: anxiety ripping up. Hand and finger involuntary movements when trying to nap (this same thing happened in 2022 when I freaked out my cns)

830: no change from 817

9: urination increasing, anxiety pulses increasing (have been drinking water so?)

930: not a huge change but anxiety is all over

10: teeth pain is increasing, pressure on right side of head and face. Subsided 5 mins after writing slightly. Please Lord help my body adapt I beg you. My life feels like it’s ending

1014: had some yawns come through which is interesting

1021: tons of yawning. Body feeling a bit better (calmer). Not sure what to make of it.

1030: had fleeting moments of hope. Like I’ll feel good enough for a second to be like oh see you will stabilize. But then no more than a minute later I swing back to I’ll never get there

11: I have some hope. It’s day 8 on the dose and day 4 on total liquid. Only 4 days in liquid man.

1107: headache gone but faster heart and anxiety

1130: just can’t tell. Things feel like they may be changing? Some for the better others the worse. I had ones e heart palps after drifting off last night and was able to calm down tho. Haven’t felt like I had ANY control over any part of this for a while. I clearly can’t stop a headache but I reeled in the panic twice

You know, I may not really know you, but I do see a change in the tone of your writing.  A bit calmer in general.  Maybe a little more clinical in your examination of your symptoms.  I'm no expert, but I see this as positive!  Personally,  find it much easier when I can look at my symptoms through a more clinical lens, and I try to label as much as I can as 'interesting' because it lacks that emotional component that can send me into a tailspin.

It's so interesting to me as a long covid sufferer to see some of your symptoms- the right sided headache/pressure that seems to affect teeth (for me, it's really my salivary glands and ear that hurt), the palpitations, the yawning... these are all the symptoms that I have had for two years with long covid (among others).  I find it 'interesting' lol that the two pathologies can overlap so much.  I suppose it goes to show that brain injury is brain injury- no matter how it happened.

That is super interesting! When you yawn does it feel like circuit breaker for you? I didn’t notice it until 2022/2023 but when I get spun out with anxiety my body seems to start yawning to reset. Every time I yawn it’s like a precursor to trying to relax. I think that’s what it may be in everyone but it’s so pronounced for me after anxious bouts.

Yes, I never would have thought to explain it like that, but this really does sum it up!  I'm guessing it has something to do with the parasympathetic nervous system trying to kick in and pull you out of the sympathetic crisis that your body is in.  It's such a strange thing. Those yawns always feel so good to me, I don't really mind them.  It's almost like a brief second of relief.

I always get excited to see them come in. I say you go buddy, you know how to operate keep it up. It’s been a hard few days and today has been not amazing either but I’m starting to feel some optimism. My body can do this

intermittent klonopin 0.5mg this whole time.

April 28 - emergency reduction directly to 1.00mg, May 2 increase per new doctor - to 2.50mg, switch to manufacturer liquid on May 4, May 13 - 2.45, May 14 - 2.40, May 15 - 2.40, May 16 - 2.30. Begin slide down for activation relief (MM/DD) 2024 -> 06/20: 2.26mg

Some do not. If you can remain with the same manufacturer it is better. Have you completely transitioned to the new manufacturer?

It will but we can help the process. No more than one change at a time. Giving time for the change.

Changes include dosage, manufacturer, liquid, supplements. Only by keeping every change separate can we tell what is doing what.

I did a direct switch to the liquid so yes. Some people can never handle the change? Sheeeeesh

changes include dose (May 2) then full liquid (may 5). No supplements added yet. I’m so scared I’ll have never get better and not know what made that happen.

@LostInCanadaserious question should I go get a scale now and just go back 2.5mg of my old tablet? Idk if they ever changed my manufacturer over the years on me since I have never looked but I had been taking that same batch of pills for 2 months prior to going off with no issues.

@ScaredDad it is unclear if you are worse with the updose or better. If better, you are not kindled and seem to be doing fine with the liquid. If you are worse it could be the direct switch to the manufacturer 's liquid or the dose.

Are you better or worse? That is why a rating of 1-10 helps with analyzing the symptoms.

If worse, you could dial back to your own liquid keeping the dose the same.

I had to purchase an expensive scale and it is very time consuming. Liquid is easier and if you can make it from the same manufacturer that is good.

Does making your own liquid actually make a difference? It’s just the pill in water which would happen in my stomach right?

I can see why manufacturer liquid could make a difference. I honestly don’t know if I’m better or worse sadly.. I really don’t know. I’ve have good times and bad times but last night was probably the worst I’ve been. Today is not the worst day I’ve had. Ive also had two half day windows on the 2.5. Saturday (this was half manufacturer liquid) and Monday (all liquid).

It still can take some adjustment just because you assimilate it quicker. Some struggle with the liquid from manufacturers because it is a different medium they use and can affect absorption.

It still can take some adjustment just because you assimilate it quicker. Some struggle with the liquid from manufacturers because it is a different medium they use and can affect absorption.

But when you said that some don’t adjusts I’m now scared that I have no option other than going back at least until I’m stable enough to give that a chance.

there just too many variables now and I’m questioning everything. Also I’m convinced I’m getting more accurate doses from the liquid rx. I did have a better day Monday until night time on pure liquid rx.

intermittent klonopin 0.5mg this whole time.

April 28 - emergency reduction directly to 1.00mg, May 2 increase per new doctor - to 2.50mg, switch to manufacturer liquid on May 4, May 13 - 2.45, May 14 - 2.40, May 15 - 2.40, May 16 - 2.30. Begin slide down for activation relief (MM/DD) 2024 -> 06/20: 2.26mg

Just give it more time. It's probably best until you see a pattern establish.

team,  I am in a dire situation. I am convinced this dose is physically impacting me. Is it kindling? If so what do I do? If I have to get off can I start lamictal low dose in this sensitized of a state?

notes from last three days. I am DESPERATE update: in the 30 mins after posting I calmed down a little but I’m too high I think.

5/7

  • Came to Moms at 6
  • 7am 2.5mg dose (day 6 with day 3 of liquid)
  • 817: no physical symptoms still. Anxious as heck though. Ruminating
  • 901: still just anxiety. no headache or overbearing physical symptoms. Tired.
  • 952: feel like anxiety is fluttering up in the body. Dizzy
  • 1019 just feel like crap
  • 1058 anxiety loading and jaw pain
  • Headache
  • 1159: ate lunch headache clearing some
  • Pretty down day
  • 226 eyes closed and jolting on bed. Super stimulated
  • Feel nerves in my legs
  • Body has to adapt
  • I’m having insane hearing issues
  • Full momentary loss of hearing
  • Feels like gut shut back down
  • This feels like the worst I’ve been 646

5/8

  • honestly at 5am I wasn’t all that bad
  • Just scared
  • 635: very little tingling around but it’s there
  • Convincing myself genital is numbing but I just don’t know (pssd)
  • Burst of tinnitus just took out hearing left ear 636
  • I’m taking this dose at 7. I will literally track by 15 min increments
  • I’m telling you though pre this dose besides being tired af and beat down my brain doesn’t feel all THAT bad
  • I pray that my body is getting used to the dose
  • Feel the best I’ve felt in 24 hours as I took it (655)
  • I’ve been emotionally numbed pretty hard by the dose btw. Zero ability to cry or feel like I can relate to others. This whole thing feels like a simulation.

7: took dose. Tried to have bowel movement and gut is completely seized again. Haven’t taken a full BM in 48 hours. Now down 20 lbs: 244 to 224 in a month

730: dizziness is increasing

8: head tightness increasing. Feeling worse.

817: anxiety ripping up. Hand and finger involuntary movements when trying to nap

830: no change from 817

9: urination increasing, anxiety pulses increasing

930: not a huge change but anxiety is all over

10: teeth pain is increasing, pressure on right side of head and face. Subsided 5 mins after writing slightly. Please Lord help my body adapt I beg you. My life feels like it’s ending

1014: had some yawns come through which is interesting

1021: tons of yawning. Body feeling a bit better. Not sure what to make of it.

1030: had fleeting moments of hope. Like I’ll feel good enough for a second to be like oh see you will stabilize. But then no more than 30 seconds later I swing back

11: I have some hope. It’s day 8 on the dose and day 4 on total liquid.

1107: headache gone but faster heart and anxiety

1130: just can’t tell. Things feel like they may be changing?

12: got hungry and ate the. Spent hour on the phone with Dan

115: burned myself out on phone I think. Tightness on both sides of temple

130: heart palps

145: pressure in cheeks and tongue

2:  headache!!!

230: just pounding heart

516: lots of ups and downs since 230 but feeling slightly optimistic

808: hope

5/9

  • head tightness and anxiety. Numbness in knees and legs 653
  • Photosensitivity just so bad

7- taking dose. Feel like crap. This is day 8. I’m hoping for some stability from here.

730 - increased urge to pee and twitching

8 - feel like I’m starting to die. Laying in bed jerking and teeth tingle starting

830 - constant urination. Big Burst of tinnitus. Sunday marks two weeks in bed someone please save me

9 - head tightening. Idk why SI is back. Hopeless despair setting

10- feels like I’m losing control of hands

The way I read it, you are getting worse in the few hours after taking your dose.

It's been 7 days since you upped to 2.5 and it doesn't seem to get much better.

I still think that the jump from 1mg to 2.5mg was too much.

I'd lower the dose to 2.25mg. Lowering more than that might not be the best idea. It's only been 7 days.... maybe it would be okay.

I don't know, to be honest.

Supplements: Vit D3, Fish oil, Magnesium bisglycenate 200mg (when needed), Melatonin 1.25mg (when needed), Camomile tea (1 cup before bed), THC oil (0.03ml once a week, don't do this to yourself), Vit C 500mg a day
Started effexor in 2011.

Stopped effexor in 2012 (fast tamper).

Got back on effexor in 2012.

Tried stopping effexor again in 2014 (I'm not sure?), fast tamper again.

Started effexor again in 2014.

Switched to Escitalopram in 2016 I believe

Stopped Escitalopram 10mg cold turkey on January 3 2024.

Reinstated Escitalopram 5mg on april 2 2024.

Down to 1mg on april 3 2024, 1.25mg on april 11 2024

I agree. I think I have to go 2.25. I feel like I’m so close to the balance at times but just too high

Her message is acceptance of the symptoms, letting them be there and floating through what we need to do while the symptoms are allowed to be there for as long as they are. I think this works well for us in recovery from withdrawal because there are things we have to do, things which our symptoms make very difficult. By using her method, we can manage to do what we need to do, without causing further stress and exhaustion by adding 'symptom fighting' to our struggle.

By not fighting with our symptoms, but letting them be there, we can retain some of our energy, lower stress and start recovering. She doesn't actually say anything about forcing ourselves to carry on with life just the way we always did. In fact in the book I've got, she advises people to take a break from their lives and go and spend some time in a peaceful place being taken care of, like some kind of rest home.

This!!! THIS THIS THIS!!!!

I know we talked yesterday about the similar symptoms that come with long covid and withdrawal- and this very thing is what has made my long covid journey more bearable, and probably prepared me very well for the withdrawal battle.  Acceptance and learning to just be with my awful symptoms when they're happening has made a world of difference for me.  I'm not saying it's easy- I've been off work for almost two years, and I'd say I've only learned to 'float' in the last six months or so.  But it is a goal worth pursuing.

I don't know what the answers are with respect to dosing- really, I think you're in a tough spot, and it breaks my heart.  But I will say that learning to accept where I'm at has been a game changer for my quality of life.  Sending hugs and support! ❤️‍🩹

1995- 2007- On and off multiple antidepressants (Prozac, Paxil, Effexor, Wellbutrin, escitalopram). Memory poor- can’t remember dates. Always tapered fast or CT.  2007- tapered Wellbutrin, zopiclone and escitalopram over one month to get pregnant.  Withdrawal hell for many years.

2009- Daughter born 🥰 Post partum depression/psychosis- no meds taken.

2016- Back on escitalopram due to job change/anxiety

2022- Severe covid infection- Diagnosed with long covid 08/22.

2023- 01/23- Long term disability approved for long covid.  Started taper under MD advice from 20mg: 11/23- 15mg. 2024- March-10mg. Started low dose naltrexone for long covid-5mg- terrible reaction, reduced to 0.5mg.  April- 10mg escitalopram, 1.0mg LDN. May 1- 9.0mg escitalopram, 1.0mg LDN. May 15- 9.0mg escitalopram, 1.5mg LDN.  June 12- 8.5mg escitalopram, 1.5mg LDN.  July 8- Brassmonkey micro taper started.  8.4mg escitalopram, 1.5mg LDN.  July 15- 8.3mg esc, 1.5mg LDN.  July 18 8.3mg esc, 2.0mg LDN, July 22 8.2mg esc. 2.0mg LDN. July 29 8.1mg esc. 2.0mg LDN. Aug. 24- 8.0mg Esc. 2.0mg LDN.  Aug. 30 7.9mg esc.  Sept. 6 7.8mg esc.

Supplements/other meds: Vitamin D, B12, Claritin, HRT

Thank you so much for the message! I didn’t even mean to paste that in from my notes. I’m getting there in ways and my attitude has been better but I’m convinced I need to drop 10%. I just need someone to tell me you can still stabilize with a drop as it always seems like people move the other way’

@ScaredDadI agree the dose is too high. It is consistently manifesting after you take the dose. It has been 8 days, May 2-May 9.

These drugs are just so powerful and it is a risk to jump around.

The manufactured liquid direct switch also comes into play.

Would you be willing to make your own solution tomorrow and take 2.25 mg?

I had a similar uptick in symptoms when I tried my dose compounded by a pharmacy. At this point I trust myself more .

Thank you so much for the message! I didn’t even mean to paste that in from my notes. I’m getting there in ways and my attitude has been better but I’m convinced I need to drop 10%. I just need someone to tell me you can still stabilize with a drop as it always seems like people move the other way’

I'm glad you did!  I think it's a very important message for you at this point.

I think you can stabilize wherever you decide to put yourself.  I think it just means committing to sticking with the dosage you choose, and giving your body the change to adapt.  That's where the acceptance and 'floating' comes in.  Unfortunately, acceptance not only means learning to just let the symptoms happen, but it also means understanding that for now, there will be limitations on the things you can do.  Meaning- you may have to take more time off work.  And it's ok!  Yes, the process of getting approved for a longer leave might SUCK, but getting through that is literally the ONLY think you need to focus on.  And once it's done, it's done.  And I can tell you, it feels amazing to finally be able to put all that pressure about work behind you, and really focus on your own wellness.

1995- 2007- On and off multiple antidepressants (Prozac, Paxil, Effexor, Wellbutrin, escitalopram). Memory poor- can’t remember dates. Always tapered fast or CT.  2007- tapered Wellbutrin, zopiclone and escitalopram over one month to get pregnant.  Withdrawal hell for many years.

2009- Daughter born 🥰 Post partum depression/psychosis- no meds taken.

2016- Back on escitalopram due to job change/anxiety

2022- Severe covid infection- Diagnosed with long covid 08/22.

2023- 01/23- Long term disability approved for long covid.  Started taper under MD advice from 20mg: 11/23- 15mg. 2024- March-10mg. Started low dose naltrexone for long covid-5mg- terrible reaction, reduced to 0.5mg.  April- 10mg escitalopram, 1.0mg LDN. May 1- 9.0mg escitalopram, 1.0mg LDN. May 15- 9.0mg escitalopram, 1.5mg LDN.  June 12- 8.5mg escitalopram, 1.5mg LDN.  July 8- Brassmonkey micro taper started.  8.4mg escitalopram, 1.5mg LDN.  July 15- 8.3mg esc, 1.5mg LDN.  July 18 8.3mg esc, 2.0mg LDN, July 22 8.2mg esc. 2.0mg LDN. July 29 8.1mg esc. 2.0mg LDN. Aug. 24- 8.0mg Esc. 2.0mg LDN.  Aug. 30 7.9mg esc.  Sept. 6 7.8mg esc.

Supplements/other meds: Vitamin D, B12, Claritin, HRT

Absolutely it works. I've seen more deregulation from too high of doses. Doctors don't have a clue. More is not better when dealing with a reinstatement.

@ScaredDad did I recommend Claire Weekes or did you find her on your own? She is pretty amazing.

Even though some of our issues are chemically induced, the methods do help. Once off the drugs, I think they will even help more. 💯👍

Yes to everything!!!

intermittent klonopin 0.5mg this whole time.

April 28 - emergency reduction directly to 1.00mg, May 2 increase per new doctor - to 2.50mg, switch to manufacturer liquid on May 4, May 13 - 2.45, May 14 - 2.40, May 15 - 2.40, May 16 - 2.30. Begin slide down for activation relief (MM/DD) 2024 -> 06/20: 2.26mg
