Recommended Posts

my ferritin was at 6 ug/l in beginning march.

after having eaten one blood sausage each day for near two month, it increase at only 8 ug/l in beginning may. i have not anemia since my iron in blood is in range.

does your supplement have efficacity? does it increase your ferritin?

i have find this

EP21306124NWA1.pdf

it could explain that women who have stop antidepressant experience very low ferritin since serotonin modulate ferritine.

(see the pdf the graphics at bottom).

since 7 years i have stopped antidepressant. Still my body does not seem to compensate serotonin.

if you traduce this in english you will see serotonin is really important for erythropoiesis.

1998 prazépam, citalopram /1999 paroxetine prazepam /2000 paroxétine /2001venafaxine, alprazolam, clomipramine * 2002 (dont remember)/2003 clomipramine, alprazolam /2004 clomipramine /2005 alprazolam /2006(dont remember) * 2007citalopram, alprazolam, prazépam, venlafaxine /2008(dont remember) /2009 venlafaxine /2010 venlafaxine *All precedent withdrawal were very fast. I tried many times to stop but didn't know what happened. *2011 mirtazapine (22,5 mg) , norset , risperdal (cold turkey for risperdal and norset, analysis by doctor say that my body does not support and i was in danger) /2012 mirtazapine / 2013 mirtazapine  *october 2014 mirtazapine (15mg) - putting down slowly.   *when i was good for one month i  down 1ml. (1ml of 100ml of water in which there was 1 pill of 15mg of mirtazapine. At the end i remove 1ml of 50ml of water but with 0,5 pill it does the same concentration.) (i down more like "how i feel, because at the beginning i had a calendar tapping 10% every 15 days and i was really bad, so i decided to see one month and after if i was trust in my body, i remove 10% of the dose at the beginning; and at the end i remove 1ml (when the 10% was lower than 1ml). It was more how i feel. (it is just the last 1 ml that i remove rapidly because i think i was attached mentally and i need to break. and 1ml of 50ml of 15/2mg is just 1ml correspond to 0.15mg. ).  -juillet 2017 stop all.

nov 2017 tetany and gastritis. I found "euphytose", "spasmine", "phyto-stress" from Govital(the more efficient if crisis because more concentrated)  efficient. If very bad i take valerian extract 1000mg (stop crisis).

january 2022: I survive. Still having no hunger sensation.

Bonjour @emilie  I'm not knowledgeable enough to be of much help.  I can share with you my experience.  My AD's caused iron deficiency while on them and since CT 5 1/2 years ago.  Just eating meat didn't increase my ferritin levels very much.  Plus, it would take about 3 months before I would see a change after increasing my iron intakes.  Over this last year I have gone from a ferritin level of 11 to 52 by slowly and steadily increasing my intake of iron pills.  I use Ferrochel (or Ferrous Bisglycinate Chelate) which I take on an empty stomach with Vitamin C and apple cider vinegar in the morning every other day.  I wait 2 hours after taking the pills before swallowing anything else except water.  Studies show that taking iron pills every other day works a bit better than every day.

Thank you for the studies you include.  I don't understand enough to be able to know how to apply them.  I've been diagnosed with Mgus in relation to long term use of sertraline.  Mgus also affects iron metabolism, but not a lot is known.

What I have done is take a starting dose, holding it until getting a blood test, and then increasing.  I don't want to upset my gut so I go slowly.  I do have to say that my sleep has improved and so have my spirits!  I sure wish the best for you.  Please stay in touch💜

I've found out that iron is another big factor for me. I have low levels of iron. I've always had, as well as my mother, my sister and even my nephew. It is genetic. However, taking iron tablets make me feel worse. If I take them for more than 3 days in a row, I'd be asleep all day, I'd suffer from stomachache and feel very anxious. I've tried to search for the reasons, but the only thing I've found so far is that it happens to other people, but when they tell to their doctors, they say it's impossible🫤 So I 'm trying to find the balance between boosting my iron levels without having too many side symptoms.

Thank you every one for sharing your stories it’s such a huge help to those of us embarking on the B12 & Iron journey.

I am low on both but hyper sensitive to supplements so i will have to use titration.

What would people recommend please, would you address the B12 first ?or the iron ?and is there other things that are meant to be taken along side them.

My main concern is,i can only take one at a time so I know what’s causing what.

Thank you.

First AD when i was 19.Binge drinker/drugs 15 years weekend use.I was always pulled on and off.2005-2007-Mirtapine 45mg CT. 2010-2016 Paxil 40mg + Zopiclone.Jan-2016 i was CT off Paxil.Stopped alcohol Jan 2016.Given 2-4mg of Diazepam April 2016 CT them after 3 month.They reinstated 8mg of Diazepam July 2016 and the Doctor CT me off Zopiclone the same day.They then tried adding all different drugs Mirt one of them at 15mg (i took 7.5mg).I was tapered August 2016 7.5mg.Sep 2016 7mg.Oct 2016 6mg.Tried 1mg of Paxil-stopped after 2 days.Nov 2016 5.5mg.Tried olanzapine @2.5mg (stopped after a week)Dec 2016-5mg.Tried switching to liquid Jan-March 2017 (no good)back to pills.April 2017-4.75mg of Diazepam June 2017 -4.5mg.July 2018 went inpatient for 10 days.Awakening 4 days later.HELD.Sep 2017 4.3mg Dec 2017-4mg (Held)April 2019- started tapering the Mirtazapine.Sep 2019 at 6mg of Mirtazapine (HELD)Stopped smoking CT after 26 years.10.16.19..Restarted the Diazepam taper Jan 2020 micro tapering (game changer) now 18/7/23 @0.052mg Diazepam + Mirtazapine @6mg.

Hi Pinkfairy,

The last post on the link maybe of interest to you.

Not sure about how it works out for you, but Vit D, Iron and B12 (and maybe Folic acid) need to be balanced, So basically you may have to juggle all eventually.

Vitamin B12 sublingual is almost readily available to body and maybe easiest to rule out if you have sensitivity to it (a couple of days). Alto's post on B12 below

Vitamin D again can manifest its effects quite quickly, so maybe next one to rule out for sensitivity. Ideally if your location permits and if its manageable you can get your dose from the sun and quantify it using some phone app (dminder is the one I tried) this way you wont be ingesting something that may cause direct sensitivity.

Iron will take time to absorb and become available for bodily functions other than haemoglobin (which is the priority task for the body) but its gastro side effects will manifest quite quickly I imagine (after a single dose for me) you will need to take Vitamin C with it to ensure some absorption (empty stomach first thing in the morning as that is when Hepcidin is lowest). or you can go down the route of eating liver everyday or better still getting Heme based supplement which doesnt require vitamin C.  Based on your deficiency you may qualify for IV infusion but that maybe a road not for everyone as it shock doses the system with iron and if you have sensitivity you may have a tough couple of months before things get back to normal

Cheers
