Cheeky: on Paxil for 23 years needing advice

Okay update ...

Ive decided to go home from my trip 1 week earlier . I had a relatively good time for the first week and had tiny waves during the day , but after a week of changing my doeses at different times and forgetting to  take my Paxil in one day has pushed me off the edge . I've been moving to  different places every two days with a back pack and it's proving way to much for me . I won't to go home as I think having that one week off before I go to work will be good to get back to normal and routine . I was suppose to go to work

one day after I get back and I know that's not doable, so having a week to try to rest will be my best decision . I'm grateful I got to go to Paris, Spain, Italy and London but I think this trip was way too much . My sister is with me and she's really supportive with my decision . Im really trying not to feel sorry for myself about this , but I have let my tears loss .

@Cheeky I know a few on here when they travel, do not change the timing of their meds. They stick to exactly the time of the dose in their home time zone. That being said, it might be easier on you to stick to the exact time you are taking your doses Europe time when you get back.

There has been alot of change.

I know my sensitivity would demand that for me. You have to do what is best for you. There is no one size fits all for sure. ♥️

I only changed the Seroquel time, but I can only take that at night before bed so unfortunately there will be another change when I get back

@Cheeky  You did a lot of traveling!  I'm glad things seem to have been manageable for the first week.  Your schedule was stressful though and it makes sense it tipped the scales for you.

You've got a good plan for the second week - you're taking good care of yourself and that's the top priority.  So glad your sister is understanding and supportive.

Let those tears flow. It's an important release valve.

Current Taper  Bupropion which I've taken for 20+ yrs- Start dose SR 100mg

Jan '23, switched to IR 100mg. Held for 2 weeks;  began taper using Brassmonkey Slide Method of Micro-Tapering;

2/23 Bup 100mg; 6/23 Bup 75mg7/22/23 Bup 64mg8/12/23 Bup 59mg; 9/2/23 Bup 56mg; 10/1/23 Bup 52mg; 11/4/23 Bup 46mg; 12/9/23 40mg; 1/13/24 35mg; 2/24/24 30mg; 4/13/24 25mg; 5/4/24 23mg; 6/10/24 20mg; 7/15/24 18mg; 8/5/24 16.6mg;  8/31/24 15mg

Other meds, supplements & previous tapers:

buspirone  plan to taper off after bupropion taper

citalopram -20mg/day. Tapered from 40mg to 20mg using Brassmonkey Slide Method of Micro-Tapering

clonazepam Tapered too fast - horrible withdrawal.  BenzoBuddies.org is the best resource out there for benzo withdrawal.

Vitamins D3, C , multivitamin, probiotics and Fish oil

Yeah Thankyou @Stardustthe travelling every two days , missing my dose of Paxil , taking both my drugs at the same time has just tipped me over . I can't wait to get home and get into a routine .

Okay update ,

I finally came home after being away for three and a half weeks off and am feeling good , 95% back to normal . I may be in a window and enjoying every minute of it . I did however stuff up my meds by taking them at different times coming back so will see the outcome to that in a week or so .
I can't believe the drastic change we can have week by week .

Hey I have a question that's been bothering me . I have been making my own liquid the whole time I've been tapering and im

wondering if that is still a good method . I'm happy to make my own pills by crushing and weighing them if that is more accurate.
I feel like it is important to get this right going forward and do t want to stuff up . @brassmonkey you feed back if much appreciated .

If the homemade liquid is working for you, I would stick with it. Using a liquid is much more accurate than working with powder.

20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013.

Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks.  The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better.

Final Dose 0.016mg.     Current dose 0.000mg 04-15-2017

Okay update ,

I was feeling really good since returning from my holiday and was so happy and positive . That didn't last long as im

back into a wave . I just don't understand how I can go from one extreme to another . It's such a cruel journey having felt good then BAM bad again . To outsiders I must just look crazy .
I havnt tapered any drug in the last 5 months and I'm waiting to stabilise out . I have just recently got a visual mood chart to see if there's a pattern and it will be good to monitor my mood when I'm tapering .
I could really do with a healing buddy in times like this , I don't know how I'm going to do this years on end .

Sometimes when I hold too long, it feels like my body is not liking staying at that dose and when I drop a bit it helps. It's just frustrating not knowing which way to go.

I try not to think to far in the future. I am just thankful I have less of this poison in my body than before. You have come so far and that is to be celebrated. Plus you got to Europe. That is fantastic....♥️🎆

It's definitely a possibility. It's just so hard to say. I think being on them as long as we have been makes it a real possibility.

If you decide to drop, make it very small-1% or less. Wait till this wave is over for sure.

Just hate paroxetine so much.
